Chapter 54- Sleepy Town, Chaotic Clown
A/N: This is an original Pokémon Fan Game, made by Amethyst. if you wish to check it out and play the game download it at Reborn Evolved. search for it on your web browser if you want to get to the website.
Alright, first, my apologies for the two week ghost period. As I have previously mentioned I've been playing Genshin Impact, and got distracted with that. on top of my previous week being filled with Exams for college. I'll try to make sure this doesn't happen in the future, but unsure if it'll happen or not. and with that two week ghost period, I really need to get back on track to this story.
So, were finally getting into the Carnelia Region of Reborn. Though, in game it felt like a rather large portion. In a canonical time, sense, it would seem to be a short section. As many readers will guess from how things would go. Oh right… this also introduces my least favorite character of this game. Honestly, I prefer Fern over this character, while Fern will piss me off, I can at least understand him.
Also, if you haven't already, give your opinion of the poll for whether Lucille's Gothitelle should be retconned or not.
Time: 7:00
Location: Agate City Entrance
It had been a long night, filled with battles against members of Team Meteor and Gym Leaders. Percival saw the sun rise as he headed to the direction of Agate City. It was certainly a night of no sleep for him, hopefully there would be a decent amount of rest before his next fight.
As Percival walked to the entrance, Percival noted the giant staircase going into the checkpoint. On those stairs was a blonde girl with silver eyes, Lucille Luxen, and a boy with purple hair mascara and a fishnet t-shirt and a purple flannel shirt, Cain LaRule. These were two of Percival's friends, and people who had been captured by Meteor just yesterday. As Percival got closer, he overheard a conversation between the two.
"Soooo, you're telling me that Luna gave you a keystone, a megastone, and a Shiny Pseudo Legendary?" Cain looked very shocked as he just reviewed what Lucille received from the Dark-Type Gym leader the night before.
"That's right." Lucille said with a smug smirk on her face. What Luna gave to her was definitely one the best presents Lucille had ever received.
"But that megastone isn't even for that Pokémon?! It's for another you don't even have!" Cain shouted not able to hide his exasperation… Lucille's situation was one of the most complicated situations he's seen by far.
"She will join me soon." Lucille said without wavering, she could sense her Absol, she could sense how desperately it wanted to join her. "I know she will. She doesn't like the path that Nero and Grim have gone down, either."
"Then there's that…" Cain sighed. He learned how Lucille had a twin brother, Nero Umbrasyl, who was working with Team Meteor. Lucille blamed herself, because of an accident that left her in a coma and lost her memories of Nero. Not that she should blame herself… "Girl, you have one of the most confusing situations I can ever contemplate."
"I know." Lucille knew how complicated her situation was, but certainly couldn't do anything but accept it.
"So… What do you think you'll name this Absol of yours?" Cain felt necessary to ask, "Isn't Nero's the Grim Reaper? You gonna name it some goddess of life to counter him?"
"…" Lucille sighed; she didn't think that Nero actually name his Absol the Grim Reaper.
"Actually." Percival called out to the two, just the other night he heard a bit of Nero's life. including how he started his name theme for his Pokémon. "Nero didn't name Grim to be the personified version of death… rather…"
"The only future he saw for himself…" Lucille knew it to be true, Nero's life hadn't been a good one. One filled with misery and hopelessness. "(Wait… hopeless…) Hope."
"Huh?" Lucille had rather said that rather out of nowhere. Percival and Cain were both confused to hear that.
"Hope. That's what her name will be." Lucille said with confidence, Hope's megastone in one hand, Lucille's keystone in the other. "When we unite, we shall make a hopeful future. One where Nero will join us, and we will stop Team Meteor."
"Heh, that's actually pretty cool~" Cain smiled, seeing the bright determination in Lucille's eyes.
"…" Percival found himself only able to muster a smile in response… a remark of Nero's flashed through his mind. "("I'm irredeemable." "I don't deserve to be "saved", "helped", or whatever the hell your calling it." "It'll just save her heartache if she gave up on me.")" Lucille's quest to convince Nero would hard… it would be one thing if Nero accepted it, but Nero himself didn't feel that he deserved the chance…
"…" Lucille looked at Percival for a second,
"Uh, So, what's the deal with the guards?" Percival noticing Lucille's stare, changed subjects.
"Those guys?" Cain sighed, "They're still conked out for whatever reason. Lucille and I think something might've happened, but are unsure. We waited for you, since you've been the only one of us to not be captured, really."
"There's really no telling what will happen." Lucille said, "If we went on a head, we might not be able to return… so we waited."
"Ah, then let's get going." Percival nodded, as a slight yawn formed in his voice. "Three's a good force."
"C'mon then let's go~" Cain said in a slightly cheery voice.
The trio went through to the check point, seeing that the two guards were still dead asleep. With no one able to open the passage, the three hoped over the gate. By no means was this legal, but with how things were, there was no other choice. As they exited the entrance, they found themselves standing on a yellow bridge, with water rushing below them. side by side of the check point stood two tall cliff sides, and on the other side were two taller mountains. Even though it seemed like they barely increased in height, it felt colder compared to the temperatures of route 1. Clouds were overhead, like it could start to rain maybe snow in a while. But what the trio noticed, was despite the many buildings scattered about… not a single soul could be seen from the windows, or the streets.
"Okayyy, what's going on here?" Cain asked, it was eerily quiet.
"It's too quiet." Lucille noted, not a single person could be seen anywhere as they walked through the streets. It was quite odd. "Hello!"
Even though she shouted, not a single person responded.
"*yawn*…" Percival for whatever reason started to feel very tired. His arms and legs feel many times sluggish.
"You okay, Percy?" Cain inquired; he knew Percival probably didn't get any sleep. But he thought he could push on just a little more.
"…" Percival shook his head to keep his focus. "I guess we're higher up than I realized, it seems like the air is a bit thinner here…"
""Really?"" Lucille and Cain hadn't really noticed anything like that, but were feeling a slow drift of weariness themselves.
"Well, what should we do. it's like a ghost town here." Lucille noted, "And if either of you think splitting up is a good idea, I disagree. In all horror scenarios it's always the blonde one to die first."
"I don't know… Hmm?" Cain scratched his head as he looked a head, then muttered. "Wait a second… is that… No way!"
"What?!" Percival jumped slightly as he started to nod off.
"Aya!" Cain yelled, which surprised both Lucille and Percival. Never in their dreams did they think to be meeting Cain's sister. "What are you doing all the way up here?"
Lucille looked to where Cain was looking, and drag the white-haired boy who was near collapsing along. Seeing that it wasn't just the purple haired poison leader, but there was a long reddish orange haired guy with more of a Rockstar look, Hardy Reborn's Rock Type Leader. But what perked Lucille's interest, "Are… Are they sleeping?"
"What?" Cain was almost as surprised as Lucille was as they got closer. Cain immediately noted that Aya and Hardy were both asleep, just like the guards at the entrance, but instead Aya and Hardy were lying on the cold hard ground. "Heyyyy, Aya, Wake up!" Cain called, but Aya didn't respond, far too deep into her sleep. "…Aya? Hah… Well, what a weird place to sleep. Dork." Cain muttered. Then looked up to Lucille and the half-asleep Percival. "I don't think we should just leave here, but… I kinda feel tired myself."
"Same…" Percival groggily mumbled, "how about some sleep and wait, wake up."
"…" Lucille felt this was all too suspicious, normally Percival would be the first to notice… but with his level of exhaustion, he was too tired to tell. Though there was a strange noise Lucille heard, almost as if someone was screaming. "Um… do you guys hear someth—" Lucille stopped midsentence as she saw a person running up to them with a giant mallet. "Percy move!"
"RAAAAAAAWWWWWWWRRR! DIAMOND DYNAMOOOO!" Lucille was almost unable to move Percival and herself out of the way as the giant mallet head landed right next to them. the size of the mallet head was about the size of Lucille, to wield such a hammer was a feat of strength that should be impossible to the wielder. Who was a woman in her mid-twenties with olive green eyes, and a multi-colored head of hair. The woman's clothes were quite odd, and hard to describe as it was a mess of colors. The woman then looked from the side of the mallet and said, "Uh… whups."
"What do you mean whups?! You almost hit me and Percy!" Lucille shouted, which didn't affect the two sleeping gym leaders what so ever.
"What do you think you're doing?!" Cain also shouted, with concern that the mallet was also pretty close to not just hitting Percival and Lucille, but also his sister.
"WHAT AM I DOING? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" The woman shouted, where the gym leaders still didn't stir. The woman quickly elbowed Cain and said "this Saturday night babeh, id like to take you out, knowwhatimean nudge nudge wink wink"
"Usually people ask that before they try to pound someone… not after." Cain groaned, already not a huge fan of this person.
"…" The woman shrugged, lifting the mallet, swinging to behind her… where the mallet just… disappears? What the hell?!
"Okay no, hold on, what did you just do with that mallet?" Cain was exasperated… that mallet just suddenly vanished. Cain quickly starting look circle the woman in pure awe. Lucille so surprised she couldn't find words. Percival still half asleep… There shouldn't be any possible… No, I've seen stranger things…. I know I have…
"ya wanna find out? ;)" The woman said giving a teasing smile.
"Like really, what, where?!" Cain shouted, "Where could that possibly have gone?!"
"He's checking me out awwwwwwhhh yeh" The woman laughed, which Cain realizing what he was doing jumped back.
A slightly worried look towards Lucille. "I—please tell me I'm not this bad, Lucy."
"Definitely not." Lucille said. with one look towards this woman, Lucille understood one thing about this woman. And that was… there is no understanding of this woman. The fuck is wrong with this one.
"ANYAY, AS I WAS SAYINguu" The woman randomly switched between yelling and talking normally. "YA GOTTA GET OUTTA HERE"
"What? Why?" Cain and Lucille asked. "Who even are you?"
The woman smiled and boasted. "I AM TERRA, HEAR ME RAWRRRR! Acceptable alternate names include Terrawr, Terraria, Terrawrawrawrawrawrawr, M3G4T3RR4, super1337 lion tamarrr and Queen o' B00ty." As she finished her absurdly long name, she moved to Cain, "and I got some sweet sweet words o' sugar for you baby aww yeh so lend me yo ear realllll close-like:" Cain hesitated, but lent his ear to the woman. Who proceeded to… "…GET OUTTA HERE!" Cain immediately regretted lending her his ear due to the scream and jumped back. "Cuz anypony who stick around gon' fall right asleep, y0." Terra motioned to Hardy and Aya. "Exhibits A, and C. therewasanExhibitBbutiatehim. delicious. what who said that"
Lucille looked at Percival, really noticing how she was slowly feeling sleepy as well. "Is something happening here? Something that makes everyone fall asleep."
"CORRECTAMUNDO. YOU WIN! YOUR PRIZE IS A BRAAAAND NEWWWW CARRRR!" Terra mad an over the top movement, and then muttered. "butiatethecartoo. whoops. now git. dw tho, i gotchu friends up one way first class ride 2 safety. lemme esplain." Lucille was slightly worried as Terra took out the giant mallet again. Really, where does that mad woman keep it?
"Um… What are you doing?" Cain asked, slightly afraid since Terra was standing behind his sister.
"ur mom lol" Terra laughed as she smashed the ground next to Aya, which somehow launched her up into the air, "BATTER UP!" Then she swung the hammer. Miraculously Aya didn't seem to have gotten hurt but was launched over the city limits to the west. "HOME RAWR!" Cain and Lucille were rather stunned by the events, this even caused Percival to open his eyes wide in apparent confusion. But before anyone could say anything Terra, swung her hammer again doing the same to Hardy. "WHAT THE FUCK IS A PHYSICS?!"
"…" Cain, Percival and Lucille were now all a bit worried for their safety as Terra walked up to them.
"iz no worry now. they are safe. we sing hakuna my tatas and go join them. ya. READY?!" Terra suddenly yelled while brandishing her Mallet.
"""We'd rather walk!""" Percival, Cain, and Lucille all yelled simultaneously. None of them knew how safely Aya and Hardy landed… and rather didn't wish to join them in that regard.
"fiiiiine. ALL TROOPS, MOVE OUT!" Terra raised her hammer into the air, indicating for Percival, Lucille and Cain to move out.
The new group of four quickly moved through the city. Cain hoping that Aya was okay. While Lucille and Percival both prayed for Aya's and Hardy's safe landing, despite the unlikeliness. Eventually after passing though the western gate of Agate City, the group found themselves in a new place. Many stands, tents, cages, and even a few rides (kiddie/ rollercoasters) were scattered about. But in this place, there were actual people here people who were awake!
Terra now in front of everyone spread her arms in a tada motion. "An' here it be, deh famous Agate CIRCUS! Iz no sleepy people here."
"So, I guess you're one of the clowns then?" Cain joked, with the erratic behavior of this woman, it was a logical guess.
"WRONGO! I AM A FEIRCE AND MIGHTY LION TAMARRRRRRR!" then with a sudden sly expression. "i also tame ciel if you know what i mean" Then as she started to spin away… yes, spin away. "Anyweigh, yo friendlypeeps prolyl fell 'round this joint somewhere. I'm gonna go hit the showerzzz. pce. Cha cha reallll smooooooth" Continued to cha cha as she spun away.
"Do you think she's okay?" Cain asked Percival and Lucille.
"That woman… no. in no certain terms can I say she's sane." Percival admitted, Lucille nodded along. What the hell is wrong with her…
"Aya, I mean." Cain corrected his question.
"After being knocked over a mountain wall…" Lucille looked back at Agate. It definitely wasn't a short walk to the West Gate of Agate, meaning it must have been a heavy hit.
"Point take." Cain sighed, understanding. "Let's just split up and find her, 'kay?"
"Right, if we don't find anything, we meet beck here?" Percival asked, Cain nodded. "See you in a bit."
The group started to split off, Cain moving to the north eastern side of the Circus. Percival taking the northern west corner, while Lucille tried her best to search through the south. Lucille walked and asked about the trainers there, seeing if they noticed anyone with purple hair. But to her luck no one would answer. Just as Lucille was about to give up and go look for Cain and Percival.
"Lucy?!" She heard a familiar voice call out to her. It was a young feminine voice, a young girl of age 11, dark skin and black hair. This was none other than Percival's half sister, Marie Whitehall.
"Marie?" Lucille was rather surprised. To her knowledge, Marie was supposed to be with Saphira and her sisters up in Calcenon. "Why… Are—"
Before Lucille could ask Marie any questions. "It's crazy! I wasn't able to leave the Carnelia Region because of whatever is causing this damn sleeping spell! I'm lucky I was able to find you here."
"Marie…" There was a smile on Lucille's face, but no light in her eyes. Upon seeing that, Marie knew she shouldn't have left. "Shouldn't have been with Saphira and the others?"
"Uhm…" Marie tried to avoid eye contact. She definitely knew she was in trouble. "No?"
"*Sigh*…" Lucille sighed, "Well… I guess I shouldn't have a real reason to be mad at you."
"Y-You don't?" Marie nervously asked,
"No, because Percival will be several times angrier when he finds out." Lucille had a teasing smile, while she really couldn't be mad at Marie. Percival would be very angry, him and Lucille left to try and make sure Marie and the others would be safe, and Marie left on her own.
"Gah…" Marie looked like she was struck with an arrow hearing that comment. Percival would definitely be angry.
"Though… I could try to help your case…" Lucille muttered.
"Really?" Marie's eyes were now bright with hope, if there was anyone who could save. It was Lucille.
"maybe… if promise that you won't run of like this again." Lucille proclaimed.
"I won't I promise!" Marie nodded.
"Okay, good girl." Lucille chuckled slightly; the childish Marie managed to make Lucille feel a lot better. But then Lucille quickly remember the thing she was doing. "Oh, right. Marie, have you seen a girl with purple hair around here somewhere?"
"…" Marie thought back. "You mean that girl that crashed in the middle of the Circus?"
"…" Lucille felt that was probably Aya. "Yes."
"Oh! The people of the circus took her inside the big tent!" Marie claimed, "I'm sure if we go ask the Ring Master, we can find who ever you're looking for."
"Alright, let's go." Lucille nodded, taking Marie's hand. The two walked towards the Agate Circus Big Top Tent.
{A/N: And there we have it, the start of the Carnelia Region. Finally bringing back Marie! Yay! She is a cool character in my books. Other than that… there is the misfortune of introducing Terra to the story… I hate her Dialogue… going from all caps to all lower case in matters of second… not to mention how her words will be purposely misspelled, and sometimes have random numbers in them. Terra's dialogue is definitely the hardest to mimic, so I'm going to do my best and just keep her lines straight from the game since I don't know how to talk like her. Other than that, I hope you enjoyed the chapter. And Again, it is viewers decision on if Lucille's Gothitelle gets replaced.}
