Chapter 78- Reservation Indication

Time: 10:00

Location: Reborn City

"Remind me why we're doing this again?" A boy with white hair dark skin and glasses asked, annoyed as he finished writing a report. Handing it to the person at a desk.

"Because you were overconfident and lost to Percival's Girlfriend." A girl with short blonde hair and a similar skin tone responded teasingly to her brother.

"Yeah… didn't expect that her win condition meant I'd be working to help this place…" Kuro grunted. "Anyway, why are you helping?"
"Because maybe I can get the girl to swing my way?" Ari asked in her own opinion. As both of these people have been working well for the sake of Reborn.

"…" Kuro gave his younger sister a blank stare.

"Okay, okay…" Ari sighed, giving the real reason as to why she stayed. "You think that I could just go back home empty-handed? Especially without you. Yeah, I'm not ready to resign myself to that death sentence anytime soon."

Kuro avoided Ari's eyes, "Our parents are—"

"Yes, they are Kuro." Ari interrupted. "You've just been able to ignore the worst parts. At least you get to be a Whitehall in the future. I've already heard about my 'fiance' from mom and dad already."

"…" Kuro couldn't meet her eyes.

"And don't think I haven't heard stories from the servants," Ari said, Kuro flinched. "You two were friends weren't you?"

"That doesn't—" Kuro spoke, and Ari once again cut him off.

"Yes, it does." There was a glare from Ari that Kuro had never seen before. "Yeah, I know I'm not the best sister. Never been to Percival, Marie, or even Solace. But I know this behavior isn't normal for families, just look at Mrs. Greensborough and her kids. They're normal! Just a nice family of five. Sure the siblings have some difficulties sometimes, sometimes they claim to hate each other. But never have their parents pitted them against each other. Do you know how stressful life has been for us?"

"And this region better?" Kuro questioned. Reminding Ari of the incident a few days ago. That "Tournament" where everyone was fighting each other. How the loser was sent to a torturous event.

"Lot better than the home environment, yeah. Tournament of Torture, or as Adrienn's been addressing it Devonyx, aside, yeah." Ari responded. "Sure, I've been given some annoying tasks, such as helping the restoration of Azurine Lake and Island. But it's been ten times more invigorating than anything that father taught me. And that Sandy chick is pretty cool… when she's not pissing Adrienn off that is."

"I'm still picking out the important documents from that flooded room." Kuro gruffed. "Did you have to flood that entire room?"

"Hey, look on the bright side! Adrienn no longer has to deal with that obtrusive company's contract." Ari brushed Kuro's annoyance to the side. Ignoring the fact that Ari was an accomplice to the destruction of many important documents, that could have easily led her to jail time if it wasn't for the insistence of Lucille and Marie. "But even still, you can't ignore how amazing she is."

"Who?" Kuro scoffed, knowing that Ari wasn't talking about Sandy anymore. But having been helping with paperwork for days now. Only contact with people when they handed him reports or other documents to organize.

"Are you serious, I know she's given you ten times as many reports as me, if not more." Ari responded, "Lucille has done so much for this city, in such a short amount of time too. Plus she's in management of this Region's League! She's so bright, powerful, and cool! She even took it out of her time to get me Lurantis and Pansage for the Azzurine Island Restoration front. Ah… If only Percival didn't get disowned, I'd love a sister as awesome as her!"

"Yeah, yeah…" Kuro ignored his sister gushing. "They're not even a couple you know."

"Then Percival better get his butt in gear, or I'm gonna steal her," Ari said with a determined grin.

"And don't you already have a Fiancé planned?" Kuro looked at her.

"Yeah, but I'mma do what Percival did before anything gets finalized. Like I said before, they're not gonna let me keep the Whitehall name so why should it matter." Ari responded

Finally setting down the pen that Kuro was using to write, Kuro handed Ari a clipboard. "Here, forms are filled out. Be sure to get it to the heads of the Azurine Restoration."
"Got it, see you later Kuro~" Ari took the board and walked away.

As Ari's footsteps trailed off into the distance of the room. Kuro placed his head on the desk sighing. "Arceus… I could use a rest."

"Too bad, no rest for the wicked." A voice alerted Kuro, forcing him to jump up.

"Oh, it's you…" Kuro said disgruntled, taking a clear look at the massive three folders in the woman's arms. "How many reports are you going to make me file?!"

"Oh, don't worry. I don't have too many this time around. Most of these are for filing up my reserve team members." The girl with blonde hair, silver eyes, and a long black skirt smiled.

"I'm not sure what I want to believe more. The rumors of your brother being a demon, or you being one." Kuro spat out, as he took the report. Mumbling the species of Pokémon as confirmation to Lucille. "Abra, Aron, Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Chimchar, Cyndaquil, Ditto, Goodra?"

"I picked up a Sligoo when I directed some of the workers in the GUM room at the Water Treatment Center a few days ago. Kept it on my team, and managed to evolve it." Lucille explained.

"…Heracross, Pinsir, Lickitung," Kuro sighed continuing to read the species, "Togepi, Treecko to Sceptile… Ralts evolved to Gallade… Oshawott, Litten, Vanilluxe… A Type: Null? Isn't—How?"

"Some Ex Aether-member tried recreating it in Reborn City's Seventh Street." Lucille sighed, "Long story short, I prevented it from destroying that street."
"Seventh street? I don't think I've seen it listed anywhere in the paperwork before." Kuro muttered in the confusion.

"You wouldn't, officially it doesn't exist," Lucille explained. Went into detail about how it was supposed to be a criminal underworld spot of Reborn. But it has been seriously taken down a few notches since Lucille's last been there. With the efforts of Adrienn and Arclight to take it out. "Some of the restoration efforts are to make it a place where people can live, and it not be filled with crime. Some of the people down there are already trying to make it a better place, just look at these documents."

"Job request forms? Am I the one registered to complete these?!" Kuro exclaimed in annoyance.

"Adrienn gave permission, so yes." Lucille smiled.

"Why me?!" Kuro sighed, before resigning to look at the other documents. "Some of these were gangs? Aqua? Magma? What are these off-brand Team Aqua and Magma?"

"…" Lucille shrugged.

"Oh, right here." Kuro placed three gem-like stones on the desk before Lucille. "Arclight wanted to thank you for tracking down the trainers who got their Pokémon stolen. Since you working with a Mega Z-Ring already, he got you a Tyranitarite, Galladeite… Actually, good timing on that one. And Gardevoirite…"
"Mega Evolving Osiris will probably be less taxing than Mega Evolving Hope. So nice." Lucille took the first two easily but glanced at Kuro.

"What?" Kuro glanced back.

"I'll trust you to get that last one to Percival," Lucille said, boldly smiling at Percival's brother.

"…" Kuro didn't respond.

"Despite how you act you really do care about your family. So why don't you try to show concern? Instead of… whatever you're doing now?" Lucille said, for probably the hundredth time this week.

"…" Kuro remained silent, thinking about how to respond.

"Right, one last thing to report, I somehow found Miss Directions Crystal ball. I'll be returning it to her soon." Lucille said, leaving the silent Kuro in the room alone. "See ya later."

{A/N: So while this note will probably be deleted whenever I get around to rewriting the early chapters of this fanfiction. Does anyone notice two of the Pokémon that I've stated on Lucille's reserves? If not, I'll say that the Chimchar and Treecko… Percival and Lucille's original starters that I've retconned. I've noticed that I've been giving retconned Team Members to Lucille. Maybe I'll write Lucille's Gothitelle, Simipour, and Musharna back into the story.}

Knock, knock

"Ah, ah, ah… Coming!" A voice resounded from the other side of the door. Soon the door opened, though the woman behind the door wasn't too pleased. "An unexpected guest. How unfortunate… I mean no disrespect. I'm just at a bit of a loss…"

"Yeah, you've lost an item," Lucille stated, but the woman just stared at Lucille with a perplexed looked.

"Have we met?" The woman asked with pure curiosity.

"Huh?" Lucille was taken aback. She had never met this woman before.

"No, no, probably not." The woman sighed, "Right, I'm known as the Miracle Eye Medium, Miss Direction. Where other people are born with the ability to know things that happened in the past, I am born with the ability to know things that will happen in the future."

"…" Lucille had to stop herself from snickering when she heard that. Despite being capable of foreseeing the future herself.

Though that didn't stop Miss Direction from continuing. "But for those of us who can see the future, the past and present are a mystery. Nonetheless, I seem to have been in somewhat of a crisis. My fortune has gone missing. Without it, I can see neither the future nor the past."

"Yes, that's why I am here," Lucille said, holding out the Crystal ball to the woman.

"Right, that is why you are here." The woman's face changed to a smile, "I have foreseen you bringing me my Crystal Ball."

"Okay?" Lucille thought in her confusion.

Taking the Crystal Ball Miss Direction smiled. "Ah, ah, ah~ I feel like myself again! I must thank you. Please come in!"

"Uh, but—" Lucille was powerless as the Miss Direction dragged Lucille into her apartment.

"Come in, come in!" Miss Direction cheered. "I have to thank you for your hard work! Here sit, For I will be telling you your fortune for free."

"You don't have to." Lucille insisted, but the woman insisted more.

"It's fine it's fine!" She repeated as she looked into the Crystal Ball. "What I see in your future..." As she looked at the crystal ball, Miss Direction's face became one of confusion. "...is hard for me to understand. It is a future where you do not exist."

"I'm sorry?" Lucille tried to laugh it off, but she felt a chill…

"The only thing I can find is a gravestone in Beryl Ward's Cemetery." Miss Direction explained. "This is strange because you are the only one of a pair that I will ever see this for… You have a friend currently, but he doesn't exist here either…"

"…" Lucille fell silent, feeling more invested in this fortune at this mention. What did this woman, mean? Neither Lucille nor Percival existed. But the mention of Beryl Ward…

"Ahem," Miss Direction cleared her throat. "Let me tell you about this world you are not in." looking into the Crystal Ball looking into the place where Lucille didn't exist.

"Oh geez… what an encounter…" Lucille said to her Absol companion as she walked through the streets of Jasper. The fortune Lucille was told, was very strange, to say the least. Without Lucille or Percival, the dangers of Reborn multiplied. The effects of the PULSEs lasted far longer than they should have.

But that wasn't where Lucille's mind wandered. Some people had a similar journey to her's and Percival's.

"An ill-fated boy, lone surviving a train crash…" Lucille repeated aloud, recalling the parts of the fortune. Arrived in Reborn the same way as her. The wards were garnished with deadly flora. Some sounded familiar: the beaded tooth necklace person was Fern. Spiked Bracelets, Cain. Azure hair, possibly Cal, or maybe Adrienn? A girl blessed with a sleeping star, Anna came to mind for some reason. Finally, the taciturn woman in a black and red suit? Lucille didn't recall ever hearing about them or even someone of that description. Each of them fought, seemingly winning against the actions of Team Meteor. Cutting away the tainted roots of the PULSE Tangrowth, Purging the PULSE Muk and Swalot from the city, and preventing the PULSE Camerupt from ever going off. All things that Percival and Lucille had completed. But some of them had started to fall, each in their own way. But the one that Lucille focused on was the ill-fated boy, ""The ill-fated boy falls to the beast that felled his sister." That couldn't have been Nero could it?"
"Ab?" Hope barked back unsure.

"But what's been bothering me was the final part of Miss Directions fortune. Once hope had fallen… The Sleeping star invoked a wish… The Woman in the suit disappears…" Lucille looked into Hope's red eyes as she continued. "And the ill-fated boy's silver soul turns black."

"…" Hope nodded but didn't know what to say.

"Hope. I never saw my death, did I?" Lucille asked her fated partner.

"Sol." Hope shook her head, never having seen the vision herself. The only two to see it, were Nero and Grim.

"But that isn't the only death that only they saw…" Lucille muttered, slight fear in her voice… "Hope that wish, you don't—"

"…" seeing her master's concern, hope nuzzled into Lucille.

"I want to be right… but I'm also terrified to give myself false hope." Lucille explained. If there was a time that Lucille was dead… did that wish change it? What happened to that other future? Were the visions of Lucille's death, Nero's death… only being what happened last time?

She never did see Nero's body, Shade never brought it back. Shade hasn't answered anything from anyone either. So, it was Lucille's train of thought. Could Nero still be alive? Lucille didn't know. But she wanted to hope.

"!" Hope suddenly went stiff, and barked for Lucille's attention "Sol!"

"Hm? What's wrong?" Lucille stared into Hope's eye, as their eyes suddenly flashed blue.

The surroundings shifted from Jasper Ward Park into a fiery cave. Volcanic stone all around her. Lucille saw Percival standing before a knight before Titania suddenly stabbing the knight from behind.

"Ah…" Lucille blinked as her natural surroundings came back to her. She saw the worried look on Hope's face. "Don't worry… Percy was in it, but it wasn't about him. He… He should be fine." Lucille said trying to affirm herself.

As time has passed, the vision of the knight's (Taka) demise comes true. With the successive death of Lin. Percival and Titania continued to the battlefield. While neither side, were really ready, Percival knew what had to be done. The fight was done in solemn silence.

Titania is in disbelief and trying to figure out why Taka was there and die. Percival hated that he wasn't fast enough to stop Titania from attacking Taka. Though the battle had gone well for Percival's side, taking down each of Titania's Pokémon.

"Vee leaf blade!" Percival called to his leafed companion. Where the Leafeon, Vee, had sit's top leaf glowing a powerful green cutting through the defensives of Titania's Aegislash. Causing the haunted blade and shield to fall.

"tch. Whatever." Titania clicked her tongue in her defeat, tossing a small metal item and a disc at Percival. "Take your Badge. Don't feel special. You can also have that TM too."

"Thanks…" Percival said, mentally exhausted from this day.

"You did save my life just then," Titania muttered. Seeing the exhaustion on Percival. "So… Thanks."

Though before Percival could respond, a voice that no one expected rang into the room. "What a boring performance."

"!" Percival looked at shock as the woman with green hair and eyes walk into the room. Despite seeing her run through with a sword and pushed into lava there was no scratch or burn on her clothes or skin.

"Why—" Titania was as flabbergasted as Percival as she shouted. "How are you alive? You should NOT be alive right now!"

With a blank look on her face, Lin turned to Titania. "Do you understand now? Steel will not make me bleed. And your shining armor is but tinfoil to the brimstone breath of the New World" Lin then smiled, "But that's not really important. What's important is that Percival leaves with those Sapphire Bracelets."

"What?" Percival said in surprise, not expecting that statement.

"Why do you need Percival to have them?" titania asked, before hesitantly stepping back and looking at Percival. "Are you two working together?"

"We aren't!" Percival shouted.

"Aren't we?" Lin looked at Percival in confusion though.

Still unsure if she could trust Percival, Titania did know the efforts of Percival fighting against Team Meteor. But from what was being said, Titania turned to Lin. "That doesn't make sense. You're lying."

"Believe whatever you want," Lin said sowing a seed of doubt. "That's all you've ever done anyway. Percival will keep the Bracelets, and your friend will keep her life."

"Don't you dare touch her!" Titania shouted at the intended threat at Amaria. "I killed you once; I'll do it a thousand times more."

"Feel free. You understand the rules." Lin said unwaveringly. "You could be the very reason she dies. But maybe you would want that." Her voice echoed as she left the room. Percival and Titania did not move to stop her.

"Don't be stupid," Titania muttered. "Nobody wants blood on their hands. That's why you made me kill that boy."

"Titania…" Percival tried to call out to her, but she stepped away.

"Ironic. I asked if you would trust me, but it turns out I'm the one who can't trust you." Titania looked at Percival warily.

"I don't know what Lin means." Percival pleaded. "Please trust me in the fact I don't mean any harm."

"I don't have a choice but to," Titania stated that as a fact, this wasn't in her hands anymore. "Percival, mark my words: if you betray us, or if anything happens to Amaria. It'll be your back my blade is in next."

"Mark my words, I don't mean Amaria any harm," Percival replied. "I certainly don't have any wish to help Team Meteor either. I'll prove to you that I am worthy of your trust if I have to."

"…" Titania saw the determination in Percival, but she just didn't know. She walked away saying. "I'm going to go deal with that boy downstairs. What happened to him is my responsibility. Once that's done, I'll meet you at Amy's house. Go without me."
