Over the next few weeks, we worked at the palace during the day, Ling took the afternoons, and Chien Yi took evenings, unless Ling was unable to do his shift, Shang and I would spend the afternoon hunting for the perfect house. Ling and Shi Yi actually got married, last week which made me happy, but not before it got me angry. Shang's mother, discovered what happened, especially after discovering Shi Yi, was in the same condition as I and disowned her. "Shang! This is impossible!" I said throwing my one arm in the air. "We've looked at every single house in the city!" Shang's arms secured around my waist as he said "What's going on in that head of yours?" "I just want us to have the perfect home…" Shang said "and our home will be perfect. Especially for us." I looked at the house, we've come back to for the 40th time just in the past week alone. "This one does seem perfect… Especially the location, and I mean we do keep coming back to it…" I said, as I leaned on the gate. "Wait, What are you saying?" Shang asked, as I took one more look, at the house, before looking at my husband, and said "Maybe the reason we keep coming back to this one… Is because it's our perfect home…" Shang said "I think so too. Give me a few minutes, and we can go get our things from Ling's." I said "thank you." After, Shang got the land, we went to Ling's and started packing up our trunk. "Hey, everything okay guys?" Shi Yi asked.

"Yeah… We finally found a house." Shi Yi sat with me on the bed. "I'm so happy for you, But I'll miss you…" "I'll miss you too… But we're not that far away, The land right next door, the one we kept going back too?" Shi Yi said "No, way!" I said "Yes way." Shi Yi said "That's actually perfect!" I grinned. "So how's married life?" I asked, as Shang stepped in, to grab another trunk. "Good… Ling's still looks at me like I'm a goddess" "Good." I said with a smile. "His mom knows… About…" Shi Yi started. She was still uncomfortable talking about what happened, especially when Shang was around, Shang took his cue, and left with the last big trunk. "How did she react?" I asked. "She cried, with me, hugged me close. Pretty much treated me how I always wanted my mother to treat me… Just told me it was Okay, and she loved me no matter what." I smiled and said "Good. Does she know about the baby?"

Shi Yi nodded and said "She does. When we told her about the rape… We told her about the baby… She's actually really excited about the baby. Ling is too…" I said "And what about you?" Shi Yi said "When you got pregnant… Did you ever consider… taking the Dong Quai?" I said "Actually, yeah… A couple of times before I knew Shang was the one who created the baby inside… But then I felt guilty… It's not the baby's fault that I was raped, that the baby is a product of rape. The baby's innocent, and blameless. Why?" Shi Yi said "I've considered taking it… I even got it from the medic… But I hid it from Ling… I don't know… what's right… Ling's told me time and time again… that he doesn't care. "I don't want Chi Fu's look alikes baby…" "Then We'll take the Dong quai." Ling said handing her it. "I found it in our room…" "We stayed with them for a few more hours, before going and getting settled.

"I feel so bad for her…" I said, as I helped Shang in the kitchen. "I know me too… It's made me think… If the baby hadn't been mine… What would you've done…?" I sat the plates and cups on the table, as Shang put the soup in the bowls. "I think I would've felt conflicted… When I first discovered the pregnancy, I felt the same exact way… I didn't want Yao's child… Or Chi Fu's… But… With me, there was a chance it was yours… If I'm being honest… I probably would've wanted to take the Dong Quai too… Would you have supported me?" We sat at the table and started eating, as Shang said "Yes. 100%." I took another bite of my soup and said "I love you so much, General Li Shang." He smiled and said "And I love you Captain Li Mulan." After dinner, we went and bathed, before going to our room, and laying down in bed. "Sleep, now darling. I'll protect you."

In the morning, I woke to Shang's gentle caresses on my body. "Morning baby girl." He said kissing my lips, gently. "MMM Morning… I love the way you wake me up." I whispered, as Shang and I got out of bed, and changed. "Hey can you help me fasten my dress?" I said, as Shang came over, wearing his brown tunic, and his training pants. He tied the sash, whispering "I'm doing this against my will." I grinned, and said "I know." We went and got breakfast. "Hey, Mulan, wait a minute… Turn to the side…" I humored him, turning to the side. "Look at that… How far along are you?" Shang said, as I looked down, noticing my belly. "I was 12 weeks when we got home from war, it's been 4 weeks…." "8 weeks since…" Shang corrected. "Right, 8 weeks… So I must be 20 weeks now…" Shang came over, and said "I love you." "We love you." I whispered. Shang made some oatmeal, causing me to say "Hey, do we have any fruit and brown sugar?" I asked, as Shang chuckled. "Hey this is my special oatmeal. Just try it, I also got the fruit cut up, in another bowl for you." "How did you know?" "You were mumbling about wanting strawberries, and blueberries… Father told me Mother craved salty things, and this weird concoction mom created, with bread dough… She called chicken dumpling pie… when she was pregnant with me, but with my sister mom craved sweets, fruits, chocolates when she was pregnant with my sister… So I mean, I know no two women are the same, and just because he was spot on with my mother, doesn't mean that it's the same for you…" I said "You're the best!"

We sat at the table, and started eating. "MMMMM. Holy crap. This is so delicious!" I said as I polished off bowl one. Shang chuckled, and said "Want some more?" I stood, to go get more. "I'll get it, love" Shang said picking up the bowls, and serving some more, bringing it over to me. "Here honey." He sat it in front of me, before pouring me some more tea, then himself. "Thanks." We quickly ate as there was a knock on the door. "Who could that be?" I stood, as did Shang. "I'll go check love." He said as he sat the dishes in the sink. "I can go, I'll probably be more help, over there." "Okay, love." I went to the door, and opened it. "Hi, Can I help you?" I greeted the man, who looked like he was from the palace. "I'm here to speak to the General Li Shang, and or Captain Li Mulan?" I said "Come on in. I'm Captain Li Mulan… Please make yourself at home, I'll get my husband…" "No need, I'm here." Shang said, coming over, his arm sliding around my waist. "Is there trouble? We don't usually get messengers from the palace…" Shang commented, as I looked to the messenger, who said "Unfortunately, there is. The Emperor, wants you both to report to the palace." I looked to Shang who said "One or Both?" "Both would be preferred." He said handing us a couple scrolls, which we quickly read the scrolls. "We'll head over now." Shang said as the messenger left. We went outside, my body inhaling the fresh air.

"The fresh air seems to be doing my wife a lot of good." Shang said as he locked up the house, before taking my hand, as we walked to the palace, since it wasn't too far. "Ugh It's such a beautiful day!" I said, as Shang smiled. "I think the fresh air is doing my wife good." We went into the palace, bowed before meeting the emperor halfway up the grand staircase. The emperor, briefed us on the new threat. "Your majesty, let us lead our men in a preemptive strike. Each of our men, will fight like 10 mongols." Shang said, as his majesty shook his head. "No General. I plan to defeat this enemy without the use of force." Shang looked at me, before he said "Forgive me, your majesty, but I don't understand, what you're implying." The Emperor said "I've made arrangements for an alliance, with the kingdom of Qui Gong. We will become united through marriage. You will escort 4 princesses, to Qui Gong to marry Lord Chien's sons. As long as 1 of the princesses marry one of the princes, they will honor, the alliance. I asked just in case any of the princesses decide to return home."

Shang's hand took mine, as The emperor said "And the reason, I'm also requesting, both of you, other than you guys are a winning team, Is so the princesses will be more comfortable, and won't be surrounded by men." I looked at Shang and said "How many days do we have?" The Emperor said "My advisors have made it clear, 3 days. General, How many troops do you need to accomplish this mission?" Shang said "4." "4 companies?" his majesty questioned. "4 men." I knew who he meant. "I also want to take Shang's sister, along if she's willing. It might help their highnesses feel more comfortable with two women versus just one." "Very well." He briefed us on the mission, before we excused ourselves to gather our troops. "Chien Yi, Chien Po, Yao." We said, as we approached them, Shang's arms around protectively.

"We need you three to assist us on a mission." "We're in." Chien Po and Chien Yi stated. "I'm in too!" Yao stated, staring at me. Shang slipped a note to Chien Po, before I said "We should go… Meet us at the palace tonight, right after dark. Don't be late." Shang and I headed to Ling's. "Hey guys!" Shi Yi said, coming over giving us a hug. "Hey. Is Ling home?" Ling came over and said "Right here." "We need you two to join us on a mission. Both of you." Shi Yi said "Wait why me?" "It's a long story, but I requested you come along too, permitting Ling's okay with it." Ling said "Of course." Chien Po, and Chien Yi came over, and I said "Perfect timing. Okay, so we have a mission, but also, I want to announce, my co captains, and Shang wanted to talk to the three guys, about something." We sat on the ground. "Okay, Yao might've been following us… so tell us…" Shang said "I need you three to help both Shi Yi, and Mulan… Mulan more so from Yao. Yao raped her in the army camp. Shi Yi also was raped. Knowing Yao, he might try to take advantage." Chien Po, Chien Yi, and Ling said "We've got your backs." Then as if on cue, Yao appeared.

"Okay so on to the mission. We're escorting 4 princesses to Qui Gong to get married. I request Shi Yi accompany us, so their highnesses can be more at ease versus just traveling with all men." Shang said "And, since we have the princess with us… I want all you three," He looked directly at Yao, but glanced and Chien Po and Chien Yi. "On your best behaviors." "You don't need to tell us that General. We know our place and our duty." I smiled, as Yao growled. "Um Chien Yi, Ling, Can I speak to you guys privately?" They nodded, cautiously as we stepped to the gardens, but in ear shot. "What's up?" I said "Since Shang made me Captain, he also said I could name two co-Captains. Being Pregnant and a woman, might make me doing 100 % of stuff, Shang did in the training. So, I've spoken to Shang, and he approves. So now, I'm asking. Will you two, please be my co - Captains?" Ling, and Chien Yi's jaws dropped, in shock. "I don't know about Chien Yi, But I'm in. I'm honored, you chose me, as one of your co-Captains." Chien Yi said "I'm in too. I'm also very honored as well. We won't let you down." I said "I know you won't."

We went to join the others, as Shang smiled. "When do we leave?" I said "Tonight, right after dark. We should get everything settled. So let's get to work." The others dispersed, and just as Shang and I started to head home, Ling said "Wait up." He came over, as Shang said "Hmm?" Ling said "I just wanted you to know, I really appreciate you guys, requesting Shi Yi coming along. She took the Dong Quai, daily, but hasn't started miscarrying. The Doctor said it might take a few days… But I'll be honest, I didn't want to leave her. Whose idea was it again?" Shang smiled and said "Mulan's. She thought it might make it easier on their highnesses, and might put your nerves at ease." Ling smiled wide before saying "If she starts miscarrying on the mission…" I said "She'll probably be more comfortable riding in the carriage, with their highnesses." Ling said "Thank you. Let's plan on meeting up in an hour, get last minute provisions for ourselves, for the trip." We nodded, and went home.

We quickly packed up all our things, and loaded them best we could, on our horses. We took them to the palace, and got the smaller carriage, for excess things, like plates, a table, clothes, teapots, stuff like that. "Hey Shang… Can you come here, for a minute…?" I asked, as I sat on the edge of the carriage. "I'm right here." He knelt in front of me, searching my eyes. "Are you alright?" I took Shang's hand, placing it on my belly. "Feel." I said, as the baby kicked hard where his or her daddy's hand was. Shang's eyes shot from my belly to my face, shocked. "Was that the first?" He asked. I nodded, as I said "It was the first real movement… I thought I felt it when I called you over." Shang smiled, and whispered. "Daddy's here, baby. I love you so much, and your beautiful mother." He placed a quick kiss on the belly before kissing my lips. "We love you so much." "Are we interrupting?" Ling's voice said, as we stood. "Not at all." "We're almost ready." Shi Yi, helped put a few more things in the carriage. "Ling, I saw a shop on the way here, I want to go to… Why don't you come with me? The girls can meet up with their highnesses." Ling said "You got it." Shi Yi and I went to talk to the princesses, and get acquainted with them.

"Stand Ready!" Shang's voice said, as we were escorting their highnesses to the carriage. One of the girl's slipper, I think she was the middle one, fell off sending Yao, to put it on, but tried to look under the skirt discreatly. "YAO!." I hissed. Once the princesses, were in the carriage, Shi Yi and I went over. "You have my word, we'll arrive swiftly, and safely." "My Sisters and I thank you, General Shang." Shi Yi climbed in with blankets. "You'll need extra blankets… It's a bit chilly." "Thank you, Shi Yi, Captain." "Mulan? Prepare to Move out!" Shang called over to me. I said "Coming! Time to get going." I shut the door, and walked over to Shang, and our horses. "Here…" He helped me up onto Khan, Before Swinging up on Kai, his horse. With one glance at the others, we moved out.

We traveled for most the night and day, stopping at a clearing. "Whoa…" We got down, before I said "We're stopping to water the horses, Maybe you girls would like to stretch your legs?" While the guys set up, the tables and stuff so we could get a good meal, the princesses, gathered some fruit, Me and Shi Yi were fishing, while Shang kept an eye out. "Ow…" I heard Shi Yi groan. "You okay?" I asked as she sat on the bank. "Ow… Oh gods… this hurts…" I looked at her face, seeing the terror, before glancing down, seeing blood pouring where her feet were on the ground. "Shit… Okay… Do you want me to get Ling?" She nodded, tears in her eyes. "Shang!" Shang came over, and said "You girls okay?" I said "Get Ling… Tell him… Shi Yi's bleeding… Heavily…" Shang said "You got it." He stepped away. "I'm sorry…" "Don't be." Ling came over, and said ""Hey, Everything Okay? Shang came over and just said I was needed here… Didn't say too much." I looked up as Shi Yi moaned in pain. "Honey?" Ling asked kneeling behind her. "I think the Dong Quai, finally kicked in." I whispered. Ling said "did the bleeding start?" He looked at Shi Yi, as she laid on her head on his lap trying to ease the pain. "It did, which is why I called Shang over." "Thanks Mulan." They said together. "I'm going to get the fish." They nodded as I got all the fish we caught, before going over to Shang. "Hey… How's Shi Yi?" I said "She's Okay… except now I'm not feeling 100%..." Shang frowned. "It could've been the site of blood that did it. Why don't you take a seat around the fire?" I said "I want to help though…"

Shang said "Honey, I want you to just relax right now. Chien Po, and Chien Yi are on Princess duty, Yao's gathering more firewood, Ling's with Shi Yi." I said "But…" "No, No butts… Sit." Shang said, as I sat on the log, which caused him to sit next to me while he cooked lunch. After lunch, we continued our journey. "Hey Shang, I think we need to stop for the night…" Ling called to us. I looked over to Shang, who said "Yeah, There's a clearing right up ahead, we'll stop there for the night." We pulled over in the clearing, and set up camp, Shang said "Go on and lie down, darling. I'm sorry, I didn't realize how exhausted you were…" We went into our tent, The guys taking the first watch. "I want you to sleep through the night… I'll take the next watch…" I said "But…" "No." We went to bed, snuggled up against each other.

Around midnight, he woke up and kissed my head. "Shang I'm fine…" "General! Captain!" I heard Ling's voice as we went out. "What's wrong?" We asked. "Khan ran off. We've split up, to look but could only find a body…" Shang looked at me, before I could stop myself I was running towards the body. "Mulan!" I heard Shang's voice call after me. "Guys, can one of you guys stay up a bit more? I have to go after her." "Go." I heard the guys voice. I was barely aware of Yao's body forcing himself upon me, but I knew he was, as I draped over my beloved horses body. "Mulan." I heard Shang say as he knelt beside me, wrapping an arm around my shoulders, causing me to look up. "Are you alright?" "No." I leaned onto him. He lifted me up effortlessly, as he carried me back to the camp where he set us up to watch. "I can't believe the rotten luck…" Shang said "I know… But Hey, it's Okay… You'll ride with me. Which may help put my mind at ease… You could sleep on me." "Thank you." I said laying my head on his shoulder, as we kept watch.
