You guys are enjoying this story so much and it makes me really glad. Your compliments make me want to make this story absolutely perfect. It's been since this year started since this story got updated and now it's April. A long overdue chapter, hope you enjoy it. I'm trying to focus on this story a little more before starting sequels of my other stories. I owe you and my Rizzles baes that much.
Jane and Maura had enjoyed the afternoon spent at the vineyard and stomping grapes, testing a lot of wine. Maura had picked out three of her favorite wines to take home. They headed back to their room, Jane went to go shower to get the residue left from the grapes off of her body and out of her hair. It was near the beginning of the stomping of grapes when Jane just so happened to slip and fall into the grapes. Maura joked about it for a moment and helped her up. Maura luckily had stayed clean during the time, she always thought Jane would drag her down into the stomped grapes just to get back at her from the teasing.
Maura looked outside, it was such a nice evening, the weather was incredible and if she didn't have to leave this place she wouldn't have. She loved just being able to focus on Jane and their time together, nothing else on her mind right now, except the feeling of peace she currently felt. She was startled slightly when Jane came to wrap her arms around her waist from behind, pressing a kiss to Maura's shoulder. "Hey beautiful. Did I startle you?"
"Just a bit," she leaned back against her warm body, realizing that Jane was just wearing a towel. "You didn't care to put on clothes, did you?"
Jane shook her head with a smile, "No, great observation skills," she teased before turning Maura around pressing her lips against hers. Maura moaned gently, her hands slipping into Jane's towel, her fingers stroking the other woman's bare hip.
She pulled back moments later, "You know the sun is going to set real soon, if I recall correctly, you had something planned. You should probably go put some clothes on."
Jane bit her bottom lip and nodded, "Yeah, I think I had something very important to do," she planted a wet kiss on her cheek and turned on her heel to go put on clothes, not in the bathroom, but in front of Maura. Maura licked her lips taking in the body of the naked Italian.
"You know, you're just being all kinds of rude right now."
"What? I'm just getting dressed like you asked," she bent down to slide her panties up her long legs, Maura had the urge to take her ass into her hands and make Jane feel incredible. Jane noticed the way Maura was staring at her so she got dressed as seductively as she could, she changed all the time in front of Maura when they had to change on the way to work. This was different, it was always different since feelings changed and got stronger for one another. Maura loved this woman, but she wasn't prepared to fully speak those words out loud, she definitely didn't want to startle Jane by rushing things.
"Thank goodness, you're finally done," Maura gave her head a shake, already missing the sight Jane's naked form.
"Glad I'm not naked anymore?" Jane raised a brow, a smile threatening to show when she was trying to act serious.
"You know what I meant, you're done teasing me with that reverse strip show you just performed."
"I don't have any idea what you're talking about," the taller woman shrugged, nonchalantly. "Ready to go enjoy the sunset?" she took Maura's hand in hers.
"Yes, I'm very ready," Maura kissed Jane's cheek as they headed out of the bed and breakfast. Jane led her to the spot she had picked out, the best place to watch the sunset from this location, according to the BnB owner.
There was a blanket spread out and a picnic basket sitting on the corner of it, and some pillows laid out. There was a bottle of wine and two glasses. "Jane this looks absolutely beautiful. How did you manage to set up something like this?"
"The owner helped me out with setting this up. He's quite the kind man. Very approving of two ladies being romantically involved with each other."
"Well I'm glad he isn't one of those type of people who are down on same sex situations."
"Yeah as long as we don't have sex outside it's alright with him. He words not mine," Jane opened the bottle of wine and poured some in the glasses, she handed one to Maura and started taking food out of the basket. There were some sandwiches, grapes and chocolate covered strawberries, and two slices of cheesecake.
"This looks very delicious, they sure make some amazing food over here," Maura smiled, tapping her glass against Jane's before taking a sip. "It's beautiful out here, wouldn't you say?"
"Yeah it's pretty beautiful, not as beautiful as you though," Jane shifted so she was closer to Maura, their stretched out legs touching.
"Always with the flattery."
"Just thought after all these years I kept my thoughts about you to myself now's a good time to be open with it all. Since we're in that place," Jane wrapped her arm around Maura's shoulders as she kissed the top of her head. "Speaking of which," Jane took the wine glass out of Maura's hand. She moved to be in front of Maura, her feet tucking underneath her butt. Jane took Maura's hands in hers. "I had kept my feelings hidden from you for so long because I wasn't exactly aware of them, not until the first night we spent together even though they weren't under the best circumstances. I trust that you'll be able to keep my heart in tact because losing you, losing us would be the hardest thing to get through. You mean the world to me, hell you are my world. I never want to go a day where you're not by my side. You make me a better person, and getting to be with you is the biggest blessing ever." Jane squeezed Maura's fingers. "We've been through a lot together and the path it led us to has been quite crazy but no matter what happens I know we have each other's back. That's why I'm here to ask you to be mine. Officially. Not knowing what's going to happen in the future is scary, but not as scary as it would be without you. So Maura Isles, would you be mine officially? Will you do the honor of being my girlfriend?"
Maura eyes filled with tears as Jane gave her little speech, Jane asking the question had been better than Maura was expecting it to be. It was so heart felt and pure and completely honest. "Nothing would bring me greater joy than having you with me as a girlfriend."
Jane smiled, "Is that your way of saying yes?"
Maura face lit up and she grinned. "Yes Jane, I would love to be your girlfriend."
"Really? You know with you agreeing to this there's no turning back."
"I would never turn my back on you, my back on us. I'm in this Jane, and that's never going to change."
"Promise?"
Maura moved to cup Jane's cheek, her thumb brushing lightly over her bottom lip. "I promise on my life, I'm not going anywhere. I'm quite crazy about you, you know."
"I'm crazy about you too Maur," Jane pulled Maura into a hug, holding her tightly. "I'm not going to let you down Maura, I promise."
"I trust you with my whole life Jane," she shifted back only a little bit so she could look Jane in her eyes, smiling softly before leaning in and giving her a kiss. Jane kissed back tenderly, fingers running through Maura's hair. She went to go lay down against the pillow taking Maura with her. A couple of moments passed before Maura pulled back for air, looking down at her girlfriend. "Maybe we should eat now, carry on with the good stuff later."
Jane rested her hands on Maura's hips, "Can we have five more minutes first?" she asked so innocently, it made Maura her skip a beat.
"Okay five minutes, but then we really should eat," Maura responded before she leaned back down, pressing soft kisses against Jane's collarbone. "You're so beautiful Jane," Maura whispered against the bottom of her ear, sending chills down her spine.
"You make me feel beautiful," Jane replied. Maura knew exactly how to get Jane to feel better about herself.
Jane's mind momentarily thinking about that dark place she was in a while ago, a dark place that was still present. She didn't want Maura to know, but she wanted Maura to see all the sides to her, good and bad. But that would have to wait, she didn't want to bring down this good mood they both were in at this given moment. Jane didn't like talking about some feelings which is why she wrote them down, but she realized she wanted Maura to know. She needed Maura to know that there were dark spaces in her mind, that hopefully she'd be able to shake. Hopefully being together will help out in the long run. Maura and her were officially official, partners until the very end, that was something to be very joyous about.
I finally gave you a chapter to this beloved story of mine. 3 months in the making and I wanted to keep it absolutely lighthearted and it was until the very end, but that heavy stuff is for another day. Maura and Jane are officially girlfriends now in this story, took them long enough. Hope you enjoyed this long road and I don't plan to keep you waiting as long for the next update.
