Final Fantasy IV

Afterword

And that's that! My second work is finished. I don't know how many people will actually READ it, but there we go. After Chrono Trigger I wanted to try something small-scale, but I guess it sort of went longer than I thought it would. The word count's bigger than I figured it would be...

Just like CT, I wanted to give a few final comments. Anyone who wants to listen, great! The rest of you, I just hope you like my work. Ignore the rest.

As I wrote this piece, I wanted the imagery to be as dynamic as possible. I pictured all sorts of tense, music-based scenes while listening to a bunch of stuff: anime music, game music, maybe a couple other things. A lot of my work is actually set to music in my own stupid head. ^_^

Final Fantasy IV has always been a big part of the FF experience for me. I remember when I first played it back when I was a kid... well... That was back when you could rent SNES cartridges. I feel like an old fart now that I look back at what FFIV is compared to the more recent games.

After I finished Chrono Trigger's work, I kind of toyed with the idea of finishing out the Final Fantasy Chronicles game for the PS1. For anyone who isn't as ancient as me, it was a port of Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IV to the Playstation for the first time.

Back then, I started with FFVI on the SNES with my cousin, where I first heard of GameFAQs to help navigate the World of Ruin. Then, on the same Christmas I got sand bagged with the chicken pox, I got my first PS1 and Final Fantasy VIII. I was hooked! I still have the discs and the steadily-deteriorating strategy guide it came with.

I'm planning on doing FFVIII at some point. Dunno when. For now, after I take a rest, I'm gonna start work on FFVII. I've already got a lot of ideas running around in my messed up cranium, so hopefully someone will enjoy that when I finish it. I'm just happy to write stuff!

I used to play RPGs on a message board called Bleach Forums, where I first started making this style of writing. I also was on Shonen Junk, but that's even more ancient now. After the forum went belly-up, I sort of floated meaninglessly...

But I just love writing action scenes, and I wanted to see how good I could make some dialogue while I was at it. Whether I pulled it off? Well... I just hope you guys enjoyed it.

I'm particularly happy with the dynamic between Edge and Rydia. I based it loosely off the characters Sanji and Nami from the manga One Piece. Having her slap the daylights out of him was, for some reason, one of my favorite parts of writing all this.

Enough rambling. Love y'all! I'll be back sometime with Final Fantasy VII!
