Chapter 5: Memories
Scenario: Techno's is hanging out with Ghostbur and Tommy in his house.
Technoblade leaned against the wall as he waited for his potions to be finished. He'd used up a lot of them with Tommy on their last raid on L'manberg, so he wanted to be prepared for anything. Tommy and Wilbur, now a ghost, were downstairs with Wilbur's new friend, who was named...Friend. Techno hadn't been a fan of the blue sheep inside his house, but it was snowing, so Wilbur had to be inside, and he wasn't going anywhere without Friend. He heard their voices drifting up through the hole where the ladder went down.
"Wilbur, do you like gapples?"
"Well, yes, but only if I need them. I don't eat them unnecessarily...Tommy, that's the third one you've eaten."
Techno smiled. "Finally, someone is telling him," he said to himself.
"They're really good, though." Tommy's voice was muffled because of how his mouth was probably full of golden apple.
"So is cake, but you don't go around eating that all day."
There was a moment of silence, then both of them started laughing. Techno's smile slowly fell off his face as he remembered those laughs, but from a long time ago.
"Dad! Look at what I did!" A young Wilbur ran up to Philza and proceeded to pick out a tune on his smaller guitar.
"That's great, Wilbur! Nicely done."
Techno watched from a distance, his first impulse being to step in and show that he did something better, but instead he just went to find Tommy. He couldn't compete with Will's musical ability, anyway.
…
"Tommy, stop pretending to stab the scarecrow," Phil said in a monotone voice, like he'd said it before.
"But Techno does it all the time!"
"That's cause I'm actually good at it, 'Tomathy.'
"Don't call me that!"
"Techno, be nice to your brother."
"Sorry," Techno muttered. He didn't see why he had to apologize if it was true.
Over time, the three of them had grown apart, talking to each other less and less. Techno and Wilbur weren't bothered by it, but it irked Tommy, which was probably why Tommy had been so eager to join Wilbur in the making of L'Manberg.
"Come on, Tommy. We can be a free country! Have a revolution!"
"The winner of the election is…"
"Tommy, run!"
"Wilbur, we have nothing. We're alone."
"Did someone say rebellion?"
"You killed him, Technoblade! You killed Tubbo!"
"The only universal language is violence, and we've had that conversation."
"To war against Manberg!"
"If you're the traitor, now's the time to reveal yourself."
"No, there wasn't a traitor. I lied about that."
"We did it! We won!"
"It was never meant to be."
"NO!"
"YES!"
"You want to be the hero, Tommy? Then DIE like one!"
"Wilbur…"
"Dream...you're exiling me?"
"I've named him Friend."
"Tommy, what are you doing in my house?"
"They took everything from you, Tommy. Does Tubbo think you're his best friend?"
"Welcome home, Theseus!"
"Here, have some blue."
"I will never let Dream hurt you."
Techno shook himself as the potions finished. He put them in one of his chests wordlessly. Wilbur and Tommy were still talking downstairs, the sound of their voices floating upwards. Their family had been through a lot; Wilbur's death, Techno's own betrayal, and Tommy's exile, not to mention Phil having to kill his own son. But as Techno heard the door open and Phil's voice downstairs, he smiled, knowing that it could still be rebuilt. Techno had never really cared for family, always focusing on getting better at combat, but the last few months of backstabbing and violence had shown him that it was okay to focus on family more.
He left the brewing stand and climbed down the ladder to greet Phil, and make sure Tommy and Wilbur hadn't destroyed anything yet.
Might be my favorite one so far. Thanks for reading!
