Chapter 9: Music Heals the Heart
Scenario: I'm not sure I watched the videos in order, but there was one video where Fundy and Ghostbur were just hanging out, and Fundy wasn't mad or feeling betrayed by Ghostbur so I guess sometime around that.
Fundy walked down the path, enjoying the cool night air. Things were finally calming down in L'Manberg, and he was actually enjoying himself. His relationship with Ghostbur was improving, as long as Fundy tried not to connect Ghostbur to what Wilbur had done. If he ignored what Wilbur had done, Ghostbur was actually a pretty easy guy to be around. It was still hard to view him as his dad, but they were working on it.
When Fundy opened the door to his house, he was surprised to see Ghostbur himself sitting at his table.
"Uh...Ghostbur? What's...what's up?"
"Oh, hello, Fundy. I didn't expect for you to be home so early."
"Yeah...what are you doing in my house Ghostbur?"
"I just thought I'd stop by, you know, for fun."
"Oh...sure. Yeah." Fundy honestly wasn't sure how this situation could get more awkward. "Um, I see you brought your guitar."
"Oh, yeah, it's just that I remember when Phil taught me how to play the guitar, so I was just wondering if you would...would like to learn it?"
"I mean...I'm not sure I have any musical talent, but I guess I could give it a try."
"Oh, great! Come here, you can hold it. Philza gave it to me so be careful, but yeah come here and take it."
"Okay." Fundy walked up to Ghostbur and gently took the guitar from him.
"Here, sit down." Ghostbur stood up. "It's kind of hard to play it when you're standing."
"Okay." Fundy sat down, and held it how he'd seen Ghostbur hold it before.
"Okay, good. Now, to play the C chord, you've just got to hold down these strings here, and strum."
Fundy placed his fingers where Ghostbur showed up, and strummed his right hand down. The guitar made a twangy sound, which was so far from what he'd been trying to get that even Ghostbur winced. Fundy laughed a little.
"That...wasn't what I wanted to do. Let me try again."
"Yeah, you've got to make sure your fingers don't touch any of the other strings. Just the ones you're pressing down."
"Okay…" Fundy pressed down the strings, and strummed again. It sounded...decent.
"Hey, there you go. You've got it!"
Fundy felt a smile come over his face. "Can I learn another one?"
"Yeah, of course! Here, try A minor."
Ghostbur continued to teach Fundy new chords, and even progressions for a couple easy songs. Fundy began to feel himself relaxing, and even enjoying Ghostbur's presence. With every new chord, Fundy felt his feeling of betrayal fade, and he began to see Wilbur as a father figure again.
When Phil asked for Ghostbur to come with him, Fundy said, "Hey, can we do this another time?"
"Yeah, of course!"
Fundy smiled. "Okay, great."
"Bye, Fundy!"
"Bye...Dad."
Fundy saw a wide smile come across Ghostbur's face before he closed the door and followed Phil.
