There were two people sitting in a single train cart, a tiny section all to themselves. One was a boy (though his appearance did appear androgynous), and the other was a woman, both of them had a head of red-hair and wore suits.

During the downtime to their destination however, a violent shock interrupted them, disturbing their peace entirely as their bodies continuously rocked with no end in sight. Thankfully, this didn't last long, but they did notice something peculiar almost instantly.

Everything in their room hadn't moved one bit. Not the trash can, nor the sole coffee cup that sat on the table. It was almost as though they were the only ones. "You felt that too, did you?" The kid asked, his arms failing to stay straight.

"Yes, though, I think it was just us." The woman replied, standing up to check if the same had occurred on the outside, finding that nothing had changed. "We seem to be under attack, wonder where it could come from? Be weary of the compartments adjacent to us or abov-"

*vmmmmvmmmmp*

A phone vibrated in the woman's pocket, notifying her to a call. Motioning for the boy to go ahead, she brought it up to her ear and answered. "Hello, Makima speaking?" Her voice as calm as can be.

"We have a situation." A masculine voice began, urgency ripe in his voice.

"Which would be?"

"Several of the devils locked in captivity have suddenly disappeared without a trace, along with more than a dozen of those engaged in a contract with them. We have yet to learn why that is, but I've recalled everyone available to do a headcount of those lost." He continued.

"I see… Any other news?"

"Y-yes." He shakily stated, as though he were scared to speak the next few words. "According to those who were left behind and had a contract with the devils who disappeared, just before the event occurred, a loud ringing echoed in their ears, followed by a wretched screech. Some have even gone so far as to say they themselves were transported into hell itself, though their words sound more like the ramblings of a madman more than anything."

"Really now?" Makima questioned, intrigue spiking in her voice. "And since when have these events been happening."

"From what I have recovered? About an hour or two ago. We're still receiving reports as we speak, so the accuracy of this information is choppy at best."

"That's good enough, thank you~." She responded with a whisper. "But, should you receive more, then please do contact me. It would certainly help me since, as you know, I'm out of Tokyo right now."

"Of course-"Static covered the rest of his words as the train entered a tunnel, only for it to cut back in a short while later, his voice retuning alarmed and fully panicked. "We have visual of the assailant from the Radio Devil, it's a new devil!"

"Care to share me its name?"

"A devil born of the fear of fiends themselves, a Fiend Devil!"

Oh… this… this changes things. Her eyes drew thin for a moment, realizing the severity of the situation. Only to instead find it as a prime opportunity, a thought passing through Makima's head as she thought of its possible abilities. "I'll be back as soon as I can. Just keep monitoring the condition of those affected."

"Roger that." The man on the other end replied, as the call disconnected shortly after.

"I've found absolutely nobody. They're either in the next train car over, or their range is that massive to the point where they could feasibly harm us fr-" A hand hovered over the boys mouth, stopping him from saying any more.

"There's no need for that anymore, our problem lies further up ahead. Let's just finish the mission and I'll treat you to all of the ice cream you want, okay?" Showing him a cute smile, the kid froze, before walking back to his seat quietly.

'I wonder how the Fiend Devil would fair against the Chainsaw Devil?'

A Month Prior

The air was cold, freezing even, barely had a scent to it. Not only was this place somehow worse than blasted Tokyo, but my powers also seemed to have vanished out of thin air, the only move in my arsenal that remained being the ever-useful Lunge.

Still, I was stuck in a new area, with very little knowledge of where to go. With not a person or entity in sight to ask for directio-. "What the fuck are you!" I blurted out, my legs tensing up just in case I needed to run.

From out the flower laden ground, sprouted a puddle of goop, a puddle that soon formed into something slightly more familiar, an amalgamation of traffic signs… Where in the bloody hell did Lucifer drop me off to?

"You seem to be lost there my friend, need a hand? Hehe." He jested, a pole shooting straight out of his jumbled form, directly piercing through my leg. "Whoops, a little trigger happy there. Hey, you look human enough, right? Wonder if you'll taste like one."

What the hell is this thing, and who the fuck does it think it is!? Approaching me at the pace of a snail, it gave me ample time to remove the spike jutting out of my appendage, a certain elation dripping from his voice as soon as he saw me bleed. "Good. Now hold still."

Getting into a stance, I instantly pushed him off me, knocking the congregation of street signs to the ground, its "limbs" flailing in the air as it struggled to stand up. Limping forward, I stood over it, a foot over where his head was supposed to be.

"Come on now, we can talk about this. Relax, it was just a joke. Besides, what kind of human would be here, right? Only an idiot would venture this far into hell." He tried pleading to a rationale that didn't exist within me. Though, there was something peculiar about his words.

"Explain to me where we are and I might let you go scot-free."

"Really?"

"Of course not, but I'm willing to change my mind." I bargained with the mass of metal. "Come on now, the clock's ticking."

"You're one sick bastard, you know?"

"Hey, I wasn't the one who shot first."

"What kind of devil doesn't know where he was created from? You must be a special kind of idiot." Idiot? Bitch, look at yourself, what kind of mother would birth a road sign? "Fine, we're in the first layer of hell, the surface, it's where all of the weaker devils are stuck in until they're strong enough to push through the gates separating it from the next layer." He finally answered, treating me as though I was a dumbass.

Great, a structured system of power. Makes it easier to craft a plan as well. Get stronger, climb up the ranks, beat the shit out of anyone who dared to challenge me, then there was the final rematch with Lucifer. Though, I don't expect it to be any easier than last time. Especially now that I don't have any of my previous powers, Magatama, and worse yet, demons. Everyone's been gone since I arrived her-.

"Gotcha, fool!" The amalgam of signs shouted, my body suddenly growing slower and slower. Making even the simplest of movements feel like a full-on sprint in terms of strain. Though, I was able to notice something from this new perspective. The main emblem at the forefront of his face was the one for stop. So perhaps it had something to do with this?

"I'm going to enjoy flaying your flesh, limb from limb. Don't worry, you won't die. You'll just come back, over and over again. For as many times as I want!" Two more appendages grew from his back, pinning my arms to the ground as whatever strength I had left my body as he literally nailed me to the floor.

Blood leaked from my wrists and ankles, a grunt leaving my lips as the adrenaline rushed through my veins. I just had to get one of these things off me and everything else would fall into place. All I needed to do was modify the usage of Lunge and… "AAAAAAAAGHH!" I bellowed out into the open air as the demon above me tried its best to absorb the vibrations of my scream.

"Will you shut up, I'm already making enough noise as it is.… Else more of those other fucks will try to come for my meal." Metal clanged against metal, the sound of a buzz saw coming to life as a triangle danger sign spun ever closer to my body.

'Shit, shit shit.' I cursed, trying to look for another way out. Finding nothing to remove these spikes, not unless I wanted to risk my own safety more than I already did. Then again, what choice did I have?

Gritting my teeth, I tried to ignore the sheer agony of having to repeat it again, my ears blocking the splattering of not only my blood, but my flesh as well, a large portion of both my hands and whole sections of my feet being torn off as I ripped myself from the bindings.

Rolling out of the way, I raised my chest high above it, swiftly falling soon afterwards, pushing Lunge to its greater limits. The force was enough to scatter the pieces and leave him as nothing more than a sign in the never-ending flower garden.

Good riddance, you piece of shi-

"Didn't think you could get rid of me so easily, could you?" The last sign taunted, following it up with a hearty laugh. "You really are a moronic imbecile. My homeslice, buddy, extreme fuck up, dying just isn't a part of our thing. You should know this, it's extremely fucking obvious. Go on, finish me off, I'll just reform given time, then I could just hunt you again. And with your sorry state right now? Bleh! Your chances might as well be moot!"

"Huh, is that so?"

Knocking him off the dirt, I pulled him out with my teeth alone, dropping him in between my crotch whilst I recuperated my losses. "You're going to stay here, and you're going to like it. Now shut up like a good boy should while I fix this shit."

"You mean the wounds you inflicted on yourself?"

"Shut up! Weren't you the one who caused them in the first place!?"

"I will neither claim, confirm, nor deny that."

This mother fucker was really getting on my nerves. However, irksome as he was, he would probably be my only companion for a while. If I had to guess, my demons would come back at the same pace as the rest of my abilities, a logical progression of things. Then again, you couldn't ever trust that smug bastard.

Just you wait, I'll soon have your head served to me on a silver platter!

[A/N: This whole first arc will be nothing but the demi-fiend's strength. Hell in CSM wasn't explored that much, so I decided to have fun with it. Also, traffic sign devil was fun.
