Chapter 13: Nightmare
Scenario: First part: Techno and Wilbur are teenagers and Tommy is probably 7. Second part: After Techno finds Tommy in his house.
Phil was working late at night on some things when a teenage Technoblade came down the stairs and said, "Dad? I think Tommy is having a nightmare. He won't stop muttering to him and frowning."
Phil sighed. "I'm busy right now, Techno. I just need to finish this up. Can you try to help him?"
"Um, you know I'm not good with...younger children."
"He's your brother, Techno. I think you should be able to handle it."
Phil heard a sigh, then a tired, "Fine," and footsteps up the stairs.
When Phil finished what he was working on, he went upstairs to check on them. He expected to see Techno trying to wake Tommy up, but instead he saw Technoblade sitting on the bed, Tommy's head in his lap.
"I guess you're a natural," Phil said.
"I'm not doing it every time," Techno whispered, scowling, but Phil could tell he didn't mind it.
He chuckled. "Alright. I'm going to bed, okay? Are you okay with him here?"
"Yeah, I think we'll be okay."
"Okay, goodnight."
"Night."
An older Technoblade was staying up late to finish some things up from today's work. Tommy was already asleep in his bunker, which was completely fine with Techno. It meant peace and quiet for him.
But he stopped what he was doing when he heard a small noise from downstairs. As he descended the ladder, he began to make out words coming from Tommy's room.
"Dream...please...I'm sorry...Dream, no…"
Techno felt two emotions come over him when he realized that Tommy was having a nightmare: anger, and protection. He quickly jumped down the last half of the ladder and rushed to Tommy's side.
"Hey, Tommy. Listen to me, okay? Whatever you're dreaming about, it's not real. You're safe, okay? You're safe."
He put his hand on his younger brother's shoulder, and Tommy immediately stopped quivering. His expression calmed, and he began to breathe a little more easily.
Techno sighed. "I'm going to kill Dream… You're annoying sometimes, Tommy, but you didn't deserve that."
Tommy shifted in his sleep, and after Techno stayed for a little while longer, he eventually went back upstairs, deciding to sleep on the floor above Tommy's in case he had another nightmare. He had never meant to become this protective of Tommy, but it was hard to control emotions. And Tommy needed someone to protect him, especially now.
