Honestly, that part was boring. I missed the bizarre adventures, both horrifying and exciting. At least, we defeated the most dangerous masterminds like Sigma, Lumine, and Redips. I guess the non-eventful days were peaceful.

While I sat on my chair and typed my reports on my computer, I looked at my two family photos in the wooden frames. One was me with X, Zero, Alia, Commander Signas, and the rest of the gang. While the other one was me and the Red Alert.

I know that they did some illegal things in the past and became mavericks by Sigma but they were still my family who raised me and Red accepted my dream to become a maverick hunter. So, I always remembered and forgave them.

"Hey, Axl!" I turned my head as I saw Zero. He came back from his mission.

"Zeeeeee! I'm boreeeeed! Can I join you in your mission?" I whined like a baby as I snuggled on my paperwork from my desk.

"Poor little bro," Zero chuckled. "Unfortunately, my mission isn't adventurous. It's only teaching newbies and train them at the forest."

"At least, yours is breathtaking," I pouted.

"Yeah. You're right. Maybe we can go on a road trip with X if we don't have a very big dramatic event," Zero suggested.

"Agreed. X needs a big break from all the things that happened," I nodded.

"X, Axl, I'm glad that I found you. Commander Signas called us for a mission," X announced.

"Finally! The real fun begins!" I got up cheerfully.

It was a few years that we worked together in Maverick Hunters HQ. I knew X, Zero and all my friends very well. At first, Zero was a serious type but he was a stern big bro who teased me sometimes. On the other hand, X was always kind and caring towards us. He cared for both humans and reploids to gain peace in the world. Several years later, Commander Signas and the president announced that they gave anti-maverick data to all reploids to prevent the maverick virus. There were no side effects after we got implanted the data. No one got infected by the maverick virus. The only mavericks that we can fight are the criminal types. We have two options: help them atone for their sins and move on to their peaceful lives or eliminate them if they refuse and continue their heinous crimes without second thoughts. As a result, we managed to rehabilitate mavericks without violence, which made X happy. It was odd for me. Still, I'm glad that I don't need to kill the criminals like the previous events.

X, Zero, and I headed to the Commander's office as the door automatically opened. We met Commander Signas with two special guests.

The first guest was a male with a black coat, dress shirt, leather pants, and leather shoes. He was a reploid because I saw his earpieces. He looked so young and cool with messy hair, blue eyes, and piercings on his left eyebrow and right lip.

Daaaamnnn! He's so badass! XD

Then the second guest... Hmm...

"Eh?" the light blue high school girl tilted her head and stared at me with her violet and green eyes. They were rare... What did they call? Heterochromia? She had long, pink hair and twin mini braids.

"X, Zero, Axl, I like you to meet Dr. Angelo Nightgale, the scientist from Nightgale Industries and my good friend," Commander Signas introduced Dr. Nightgale.

"Yo! What's up! Just call me Dr. Angelo," Dr. Angelo greeted excitedly.

"Nice to meet you, Sir!" we greeted.

"Eh? Don't be too formal. I'm glad to meet you all as the S-rank maverick hunters. Nash told me the entire story about you. Oh! I like you to meet my daughter, Tyronica," Dr. Angelo introduced Tyronica to us.

"It's nice to meet you, X, Zero, and Axl," Tyronica bowed politely.

"As for the mission, tonight is a rescue mission," Commander Signas said as he turned on the hologram and showed us the case files.

"Nash, the policemen, and I investigated about the serial killer murdered five humans and four reploids. With a twist, the escape and surviving victim, Korijo Hame, a male reploid stated that he was a human. According to the police reports, there were more missing hostages at the Moonside Forest. The serial killer and the hostages were at the abandoned factory," Dr. Angelo clarified.

"What the?! Korijo was a human and turned into a reploid?! How did he do that?!" I was shocked.

"Transferring his brain to the reploid... Wait! That's too gross. Scientifically, the serial killer might be a former AI specialist. He can copy Korijo's DNA and memories, turned into AI, and placed them in the reploid body. The question is... where did the reploid body come from?" Dr. Angelo added.

"Came from the original owner. That means the reploids' A.I.s got deleted after the killer inserted Korijo's and the other humans' A.I.s It's like he ressurected the humans into reploids," Zero guessed.

"That's horrible!" X shocked. My reaction was the same as his.

I don't want that to happen to me.

Dr. Angelo pointed to the map as the red line drawn that led us to the hideout. "Here's the map for the mission. However, he's not alone. He hired the most wanted mavericks as Tyro spotted them and saw their faces on the wanted lists. So, your mission is to rescue other hostages and end the serial killer's life. Tyro will join you on your mission."

"Eh? Papa Bear, you're not coming with us?" Tyronica asked.

"Nope. I'm going to be your navigator, Baby Cakes. You'll be the hunters' Zhongli," Dr. Angelo answered with a smile.

"Oh! Geo Daddy's E skill!" Tyronica understood with surprise.

"Who's Zhongli?" X raised a brow.

"Oh! Zhongli is from the videogame called Genshin Impact. Dr. Angelo said that Tyronica is our combat supporter," I explained.

"Eh?! You played Genshin Impact too?!" Tyronica surprised.

"Yeah! I played it during my break time," I smiled.

"Ooooooh! Can we be Genshin buddies? What's your UID number?" Tyronica asked excitedly.

"Ahem! Maybe you two can play together after the mission. For now, we can ask the driver for the RV with recharge capsules. Pack your things and go to the mission," Commander Signas commanded.

"Yes, sir!" X, Zero, and I saluted.
