The kid beat the minotaur. Maybe that was reasonable, considering that he was a child of the Big Three, but still, Dionysus already had a grudge for everyone who beat the minotaur. Theseus sure didnt make a righteous impression. The kid's mother died in the process. For that, the god felt bad or at least as bad as a god can feel about something he will never expirience. Dionysus wouldn't ever know the pain. His mother was dead even before his birth.
Chiron POV
Dionysus and I played some pinochle. He was losing badly and the god wasn't all too pleased about that. His breath hitched as I placed my deck and after seeing the cards he sighed. "Why do you always win?" Suddenly I heard a squeak, the door was opening. Percy was going down the railing of the big house.
'Mr Brunner!' he said as soon as he saw me. His childlike eyes widend with surprise.
'Percy!' I said and invited him to sit, patting on the chair next to me. 'Do you mind playing pinochle with us for a while?'
He seamed quite hesitant and but then relaxed and casually approached us. He sat on the stool and looked at the god, when suddenly Dionysus dropped his can. He looked at Percy and squinted his eyes.
'What's your name, kid?'
Percy seemed hesitant again, maybe sensing the godly aura. 'My name is Percy, sir.' 'Percy who?' ' Percy Jackson.' The god's reaction was unusual, and certainly not expected. He smiled and nodded, as if certain of something. 'Have you seen the orientation film yet, Percy?'
'Uhm, no...sir'
The god nodded. 'Good, the film is awful. Apollo is an absolute disaster.' I couldn't help but agree with him.
Percy frowned. 'Apollo?'
The god let out a sigh. 'Yes, Apollo.' He shuffled the cards. 'Yes, as in the god Apollo.'
Percy's face looked like a loading screen, his eyebrows scrunched together. 'The…god?'
Dionysus looked again at the kid and smiled. 'You beat the minotaur or so I heard.'
'I did…' he stopped. 'But it wasn't really my victory' he added quickly and tears came into his eyes which he swiftly brushed off. Dionysus seemed pleased with the answer. He didn't like stuck up heroes. Especially stuck-up heroes who beat the minotaur.
'There is no easy way to break this to you, kid. The gods are real.' Said he. 'All the Greek gods! So, you must assume that those "myths", are also real. Because otherwise the minotaur, which I know you saw, you aren't crazy, wouldn't exist.'
Dionysus grabbed the cards and started shuffling them around in his hands. Then Grover came to Dionysus and asked for his coke can, the god nodded, and the satyr started munching.
'Mr. D? Your name is Mr. D?'
'Yes, and I am a god.'
Percy looked at Dionysus as some kind of a joke.
'You…a god?'
The good in return looked irritated. 'Yes, a god, you dimwit of a half-blood.'
'Half-blood?'
'Half mortal, half god.' Dionysus stood up. 'Welcome to Camp Half-Blood, kid. A place for kids just like you. Half-Greek god, half mortal.'
The kid looked at Dionysus like he expected Dionysus to laugh and shout "April fools!". But he didn't. It was June. Percy squinted his eyes and very sceptically shrugged.
It was already 4 PM, so I reasoned that a place to sleep for Percy would be reasonable.
'Annabeth, could you please set up a place for Percy in the Hermes cabin?', the blonde nodded but Dionysus stopped.
'Oh no need to that.' He smiled at Percy and snapped his fingers, a sign appeared above the boys head.
'All hail to Percy Jackson, son of Dionysus, god of wine, festivities, theatre and insanity.' Annabeth and Grover kneeled, as a sign of honor. But I was not in a state to knee; I was even a bit perplexed. I spend an entire year posing as a teacher for a Dionysus kid? Of course, every half-blood was important, but I did this for the sake of the great prophecy.
Percy looked as a loading screen.
'Well, Percy, shall I introduce you to your siblings?'
Percy POV
I felt like someone decided to prank me for a YouTube video. Because there was no way this was real. But I couldn't reject reality; Grover was a goat, my dad was a wine god, and I just saw a girl growing plants while waving her hands. My whole mind screamed "Go away! Go to your mother!" but I knew that I couldn't. Dread filled me again, but also an idea. If the world of the Greek myths existed, could the underworld also exist?
Pollux POV
It isn't everyday that a god goes into your cabin, decided to sit on your couch and now grimly stares into the space.
'L-Lord Poseidon, a-are you sure that you're in the right place.?' Asked Castor.
The god who was the whole time silent nodded. 'Yes Castor, I am pretty sure.' He didn't involve in further conversations, as if waiting for someone. And as on cue, the door opened with my dad and a scrawny kid looking at us.
'Lord Poseidon' acknowledged my dad. Lord Poseidon nodded. 'Nephew. I reckon it's time to explain our situation to everyone here.'
Dad nodded and let the boy sit on the couch.
'Now, Percy, do you know anything about World War II?'
'Yes...' I also didn't know where this was going.
'Now please let me speak, don't interrupt.' He said. 'During the war, it was actually a fight between the children of Hades, Poseidon and Zeus. After the war the three gods made an oath to not have children anymore to prevent another kind of catastrophe. But recently, there was a daughter of Zeus born, Hades got mad at Zeus for breaking the oath, so he killed her. Zeus took pity on the girl and turned her into a tree. But 12 years ago, Poseidon also fell off the wagon.'
Wait? Lord Poseidon had a child?
'And now instead of claiming the child, he asked another god to claim his child.'
The boy looked like his brain was overheating, but I could hear the wheels in his head spinning.
'And the god that claimed the child is…?'
Dad nodded. 'That's me'
'So…you're not my dad?' he asked skeptically.
'That is me' said Poseidon and smiled. I could immediately see the resemblance, the kid looked like a carbon copy of his dad.
'The only one who must know of this are the people in this cabin and Lady Aphrodite. She knows already of you.' Said dad. Percy nodded.
'Can…can you leave me? I think I need to digest it…?' I would think that Lord Poseidon and dad would protest but they both nodded.
'We'll leave you, but Castor and Pollux,' lord Poseidon looked at us. 'Swear on the river Styx that no one except me, Dionysus, you two and Lady Aphrodite will know of the true parentage of my child. Swear that you will tell no one.'
I looked at Percy and saw a really scared kid. A scared kid that was just thrown in the world of the gods a few hours ago and he already was wanted dead by a few gods. I looked at Castor and we both came to an agreement buy just looking at each other. We must protect Percy.
Castor and I nodded. 'I swear on the river Styx, that on one will know from us that Percy is your child, Lord Poseidon'
The god nodded satisfied, and the gods walked away.
