14 – Adepti Hater – Axl
"Cheers!" X, Zero, GV, and I toasted our shot glasses of soju and drank together.
We were eating dinner at the Korean BBQ restaurant where Dr. Angelo treated us. We ordered the types of BBQ and beers and cooked them ourselves. It was a fun experience. GV and I were B-rank hunters as we worked together on several missions but I mostly went on the special missions with X and Zero. We didn't meet up because of our busy days. So, I was glad that I can spend time with GV again.
"That's a good taste for the barbeque," Zero relieved.
"It's like Korean vodka but sweeter. One bottle is fine but not two or four," X smiled.
"Same," GV nodded.
"By the way, why Acura wasn't with us and stayed with Prof. Vanzo, Mr. Angelo, and Commander Signas? I mean, we're sorta the same age," I was confused.
"Maybe he's very comfortable with Prof. Vanzo," X guessed.
"Actually… Nevermind. I don't want to ruin it," GV sighed.
"It's okay to tell us but we promise to keep a secret," Zero suggested.
"Oh! What's the reason, GV?" I raised a brow.
GV gulped. "He hates Adepti, like me and Joule."
"Say whaaaaat?! Is he jelly or something?" I was dumbfounded.
GV shook his head. "No… He's cool with reploids because he loves to create his reploid for his assistants, Lola and Null. He has his closest human friends. The reason why he hates adepti is that they killed his father, Dr. Kamisoto," he explained sadly.
"Ouch! That's rough, bro… I think I heard the news before," Zero understood him.
"Yeah, about the Sumeragi Group blamed the adeptus who murdered his father but it didn't show any evidence. I was there for an investigation with Mr. Angelo. We discovered that the Sumeragi Group forcibly created the humans into adepti, as well as GV and Joule. Asimov was the leader of the Adepti group called 'QUILL'. As a result, he joined us and saved all of you," X explained.
"Yeah. I followed in his footsteps and defeated the Sumeragi Group's leader, Nova but Asimov went maverick. He didn't get infected but his hatred towards humans was a heinous crime. I had no choice but to 'retire' him… even he was my father figure," GV added sadly.
"I'm sorry, GV. I had the same situation as you do," I patted his shoulder gently as I understood his feelings. The same thing that I murdered my own family, the Red Alert because of the maverick virus, and Sigma was the one who forced them.
'I will perish everyone who destroyed my life... I will vanish them into ashes…'
"Huh?" I turned around as no one said anything. Is it me or my thoughts?
"Axl, are you okay?" GV asked.
"Oh! It's nothing. I thought I heard someone," I chuckled as I rubbed the back of my head.
"Anyway, we're going on the mission together for the first time. Let's keep eating and drinking!" Zero cheered.
"Don't drink too much. Our mission will start in two days and not to have a heavy hangover," X reminded.
"Yes, Mom," Zero remembered.
"Heeeeeeey!" X pouted as we laughed.
