Kakashi tapped on the door and waited to be summoned in, then tapped again after a few long moments of silence. After a few more long moments of silence he slowly opened the door and looked inside. The room was deserted and he was about to close the door when he spotted Seyuri at the table on the far side of the room, her arms were folded on top of the table and her head was resting on them. He looked around the room curious about where everybody had gone as he stepped into the room and quietly closed the door behind him. Kakashi wasn't surprised to see Seyuri had fallen asleep, she had looked exhausted earlier, and now that the room was quiet she probably couldn't fight it anymore.
He silently made his way across the room and gently placed the bag full of ramen he was carrying on the table as he examined the sleeping redhead in front of him. He could hear her slow soft breaths as she slept; a few strands of her hair that had fallen into her face moved ever so slightly with every exhale. He wanted to give her the time to rest, but he wasn't sure what was going on and knew she was probably needed elsewhere. Kakashi gently reached down and stroked her hair and spoke her name quietly in an attempt to wake her. He relished the feeling of her soft tresses under his fingertips and sighed as he removed his hand when she started to stir.
"Mmm," she sighed as she lifted her head and blinked the sleep away from her eyes, her expression changed from confused to comprehension to slight panic as she jumped up from her chair. "Oh no! I fell asleep," her voice a little rough as she looked around and noticed Kakashi in front of her.
"I don't think you've been out long," he said, trying to calm her down, "I just got back with your food, so it couldn't have been for longer than ten minutes. You haven't wasted any time, so calm down and then you can tell me where everybody else went."
Seyuri nodded and sat back down, some of her weariness showing on her face as she stifled a yawn. "We think we have found a cure, so Lady Tsunade and the others went to the hospital to prepare for the procedure. I was told to wait here for my dinner and to meet them at the hospital when I was done. I guess I look a little worse for wear than I thought, she insisted I not participate until I was a little more rested. So, what's for dinner?" she asked and glanced at the bag then back up at Kakashi's face.
"You said you wanted something light, so I got ramen," he said and sat at the table and gently pushed the bag in front of her. Seyuri opened the bag and pulled the contents out, placing one of the sealed bowls in front of herself and one in front of Kakashi. She gave him a confused look when he pushed the bowl back in front of her. "They are both for you," he explained.
Her eyebrows knit together as she looked at both the bowls, even though she was hungry she didn't want both. "I would prefer if you would eat with me," she said as she slid the bowl back over in front of him. She saw he was about to argue so she did her best attempt at puppy eyes and asked, "Please?"
Kakashi sighed and conceded to her demands. "Fine, but that was a cheap shot," he said as he pulled the lid off his bowl and the savory smell of ramen permeated the room. She thanked him with a warm smile that made him smile in return and they proceeded to eat without much talk between the two.
"That was perfect, just the right amount of food to keep me going without putting me back to sleep," Seyuri said when she finished. She felt much livelier after the meal and she quickly cleaned up their empty containers before picking up the small bag she was carrying with her before. "If I'm correct in calculations, Lady Tsunade probably has a bit more prep work to complete before we can begin the procedure. We will need to make sure everything is perfect, so I should probably get over there to help her with it."
"I'll walk you over then," Kakashi said as he stood from the table and made his way to the door. He held it open and waited for Seyuri to walk through before following her out and closing it behind them.
She arched an eyebrow at him as he fell in step beside her and a smile played on her delicate lips as she said teasingly, "Who knew there was a gentleman underneath all that sass this whole time?"
"I surprise myself sometimes," Kakashi said with a laugh then teased back, "But I supposed I should have known better than to expect a simple 'Thank you'…"
"Ah, I suppose I'm not very ladylike, though I never have claimed to be. But, for your sudden uncharacteristic behavior I should play along. Thank you kind sir for holding the door," Seyuri laughed and turned towards him with a bright smile.
He felt his heart skip when that smile hit him and then feigned a cringe, "That is more scary than anything. I think I prefer the stubborn doctor."
"Me too," she laughed lightly as she filled Kakashi in on the details of what they had discovered after he had left. "Theoretically, this should work and I hope it does. I made a few modifications to the process to help protect whoever will be performing the cleansing, but I'm still a little worried. It requires very precise and complete chakra control and one wrong move could have dire consequences for both the patient and the doctor."
"We have some of the best medical ninja here in the leaf village. I'm sure we will have our best working on this, so try not to worry so much," he said when he noticed the frown that had appeared on her face, trying to reassure her.
"I know, I just want everything to go smoothly," Seyuri said with a sigh as they entered the hospital. "Where is Lady Tsunade?" she asked one of the staff and they pointed her and Kakashi in the right direction.
"Well, good luck," he said as they reached the room they were preparing for the cleansing, "I won't be any help, so I'm going to head home."
"Okay, um could you do me a favor?" Seyuri asked and continued when he nodded, "Could you just check on Tokiro and let him know I'm not sure when I'll be home. There are some leftovers in the fridge or he can go get something if he wants. There's money in the jar on the counter next to the sink."
"Yeah, no problem," Kakashi responded and reached out and briefly took her hand in his, "I'll see you later."
"Mhm," she mumbled as a slight blush colored her cheeks, "Later." Kakashi turned and left as Seyuri entered the room, observing what was going on and trying to decipher what stage of preparation they were in. It looked like they were nearly ready to start.
"Just in time," Tsunade said when she noticed Seyuri enter the room, "Double check this and we'll discuss the procedure with everybody who's going to be involved, then we can get started." Seyuri nodded and did as she was asked while Tsunade summoned the group of people that would be helping to cleanse the patient. After carefully inspecting everything and making a few minor adjustments with Tsunade's approval she joined the rest of the group.
Tsunade took her time explaining every detail of what they were about to do and possible troubles that they may face. When everybody was sure they understood exactly what they were doing Tsunade called out, "Bring the patient in, it's time to begin."
It took a team of 8 medical ninja to perform the cleanse in two hours. The process was not strenuous, but it was tedious. There was little to no room for error and required near perfect precision and control. They had decided to take turns, four people at a time, to avoid the possibility of an error. It was slow work, but they were confident that they had discovered a cure. When they finished the procedure, Seyuri examined the mans chakra very carefully, making sure that they did not miss anything. When she was sure that they had succeeded she smiled and said a loud, "Great job everybody, his chakra is pure again."
The nurses took the patient back to his room to wait for him to wake up. They had decided to put him under anesthesia just in case. If he would have moved during the procedure, it could have ended very badly. Seyuri tried to suppress a large yawn as they all exited the room, but was unsuccessful. It was nearly 8:00PM now and she turned to the group to announce her departure. She needed to get home to check on Tokiro and a good nights rest was calling her. "If I'm no longer needed, I'm going to head home now. Please don't hesitate to call for me if something unexpected happens or if you need me. I'll be on-call this weekend as well, so I will check-in if I get called in," she said as they all made their way down the hall.
"That is acceptable. The report for this matter will be due by the end of the day tomorrow," Tsunade said and dismissed most of the group and stayed behind to speak with a couple of the doctors that would be working that evening. Seyuri waved her goodbye's and started the walk home, her limbs felt heavy with sleep and she had to stifle a yawn every few minutes.
"I'm home," she called out as she unlocked her front door and stepped inside. A delicious smell reached her nose and her stomach grumbled. She made her way to the kitchen and set her bag on the counter as she said, "Something smells delicious, I hope there is some left for me; I could eat a whale right now."
"Yeah, we just started," Tokiro said from the table, Kakashi was sitting across from him, "I tried to wait till you got home, but I was getting really hungry. I got you all your favorite things though."
"You didn't have to wait, but thank you," Seyuri said taking a seat at the table and looking at all the food. Her mouth fell open a little as she fell on the amount of food the two of them had ordered, the entire table was covered and she did see all of her favorite things there. "You two must have been really hungry, it looks like you ordered one of everything!"
"Well, I know you get really hungry if you're working super hard," Tokiro so nonchalantly as he started to fill his plate, "So I figured you would eat half of it by yourself since you were at work so late." Seyuri felt herself flush at the comment and Kakashi choked back a laugh. It was an embarrassing fact, but true all the same.
It was quiet for a bit while the three of them picked through the food and filled their plates, then Kakashi turned to Seyuri, "I take it everything went well then? I honestly didn't expect you back so soon, so I'm assuming it went smoother than we thought it would."
Seyuri nodded as she chewed what was in her mouth and swallowed before answering, "Yes, it went very smoothly and we didn't encounter any problems. I inspected his chakra after to ensure we got it all and it was perfectly cleansed. It wasn't a difficult task per say, but it was extremely tedious and delicate work. I'm almost 100% positive he will make a full recovery and be back out on the field in no time. I still have the worst part to do though, the report."
Kakashi laughed as she made a face at the thought of doing the report. "That tends to be the worst part of my job as well, but it's also one of the most important. If reports hadn't been done on previously, we may not have been able to find the technique you modified to save that ninja."
"Doesn't mean I have to like doing it though," Seyuri smiled at him and went back to concentrating on her food. She ate as much as she could and was surprised at the amount of food that was still left over. "Even if I do eat a lot sometimes, this was a bit excessive…"
"Yeah, I guess so," Tokiro said looking at all of the leftovers, "Lunch will be really good tomorrow though."
"So the real reason comes out now," Seyuri said with a laugh as she got up from her chair and picked up their dirty plates. Tokiro and Kakashi helped to pack the leftovers away as she cleaned the dishes. When she was finished, Tokiro hugged her and headed to his room to get ready for bed. Seyuri hugged him back and finished cleaning up the kitchen and table before turning to Kakashi, "Thank you for staying with him, you didn't have to, but I appreciate it all the same."
"He's a good kid and it wasn't any trouble at all. I helped him with some of his studies too, although, I think he was looking at stuff a bit beyond his level at the Academy. He's extremely sharp, I was surprised when I saw the material he was studying and that he actually had a pretty good understanding of it," Kakashi said as he watched Seyuri move around the kitchen and dining area. When she was finished she reached up and undid a few pins that had been holding her hair up, it tumbled down her back and shoulders in waves. He felt his breath catch as she turned and gave him a smile of gratitude, he fought back the urge to sweep her up into his arms.
"I'm happy that you two get along so well and thank you for helping him with his studies. Iruka said he is excelling in his classes and will probably be moved up a couple of classes, he really is working very hard," Seyuri gave Kakashi a curious look and stepped in his direction, "Everything okay? You look a little out of sorts."
"Yes, I'm fine," Kakashi said, a slight blush covering his cheek. She mesmerized him and she had caught him in one of those moments. When it came to her, he was unsure of how to act or respond. He wanted to be closer to her, to touch her, but he also didn't want to scare her away. He wanted to make sure she knew that she was not like Chiya, or any of the other girls he had been with in the past. She was different, special, and he wanted to make sure she knew that before their relationship took a more physical route. He sighed to himself and shook his head, what was he thinking about? They hadn't even gone on their first date yet, he was getting ahead of himself.
Seyuri took a few more steps until she was less than an arms length away from him. Her emerald eyes gazed up at him through her lashes as she reached her hand towards his timidly, "Would you like a cup of tea or anything to drink?" A small blush bloomed on her cheeks as her fingers brushed against his and his fingers captured hers gently.
"I think some tea would be fine," he said softly and released her hand when she pulled away from him to start making the tea.
"We'll have it in the living room, it's a little more comfortable there," she said as she prepared a tray with some cups while she waited for the water to boil. When it was ready she placed the kettle on the tray and Kakashi picked it up before she could. "Thank you," she smiled and led the way to the living room. She sat on the sofa as Kakashi set the tray down on the coffee table and she busied herself with preparing their cups as he sat next to her. "Here," she handed him his cup then reached for her own, "Careful, it's hot."
Seyuri took a sip of her tea then placed the cup back down, it was still a bit too hot to enjoy thoroughly in her opinion. Kakashi mimicked her and she became more aware of how close he was too her. She felt awkward and clumsy, unsure of what to say and silence filled the room. Her chest heaved slightly as she took a breath to ready herself and asked, "So, any idea on what our date is going to be?" She hid her nervousness and turned slightly to look at him more squarely, her knee brushing against his as she did so.
"Honestly, I haven't really thought about it too much. Today was a bit busier than I had expected it was going to be. I guess I need to know what your schedule looks like," he said a bit embarrassed about his lack of preparedness.
"Isn't that the truth, I don't think anybody expected today to go the way it did. It ended on a good note though, so it wasn't too bad in my opinion. I'm on call this weekend for the hospital and off on Monday. Then I work Tuesday thru Friday and am off for the weekend. I think Shizune, Tsuki , and I are going out next weekend though," Seyuri said and leaned into the sofa, letting her body relax.
"Unless something big comes up, I'm off until the end of next week. As you know, it's hard to say what I'll be doing after that," Kakashi said as he reached over and wrapped his fingers around her smaller ones. "I guess Monday would be the best day. Is there anything in particular you would like to do?"
Seyuri wrapped her fingers around his in response and smiled at Kakashi. Her heart was fluttering in her chest as she shyly leaned over and rested her head against his shoulder and arm. "Monday would be good. We can get lunch and maybe go to the park or shopping. I guess I'm not very good at this whole dating thing," she said with a soft laugh.
"Me neither," Kakashi said as he untangled his fingers from hers and wrapped his arm over her shoulders, pulling her closer to him. He sighed as he felt her body heat against his side and her sweet scent filled his nostrils. He was very aware of how is heart was thudding hard and fast against his chest and he felt embarrassed by the reaction. He was simply holding her and his body was reacting as though this was the first time he had ever been near a woman and he couldn't remember the last time he had felt so nervous.
Seyuri blushed as she felt Kakashi pull her closer and she closed her eyes as she leaned into him, enjoying the comfort of being so close. His scent filled her nose and she sighed contentedly. "Well, I guess we'll just have to figure it out together," she smiled and looked up at him through her lashes. She noticed the faint traces of a blush on his cheek and she felt a little more comfortable knowing that she wasn't the only one who was nervous at the moment. "As long as we have fun though, I guess it really doesn't matter what we do," she said softly and leaned forward to grab the TV remote from the coffee table. She turned the TV on and flicked through the channels, she kept herself so busy she had barely watched the TV since she bought it. Tokiro and his friends usually watched it when they got done school while they had a snack. "Here, you can pick," she said after a few moments and leaned back into him, resting her head on his shoulder as she handed him the remote.
"I suppose that's another way to look at it," he said thoughtfully as he started to relax himself. Kakashi took the remote from her and flicked through the channels. "Anything in particular you like?" he asked as he stopped on what looked like a cooking show.
"Not really, I don't watch much TV. I've been so busy that I don't really have time to relax like this very often," she said.
"Well, this will work then," he said and set the remote down, leaving the channel on the cooking show. "Maybe I'll have you make me something different sometime, I haven't forgotten, you still owe me a welcome home dinner," Kakashi said teasingly.
"That is true," she stifled a yawn and snuggled closer into his side, comforted by his closeness and the heat of his body. Kakashi responded by slightly tightening his arm around her, enjoying her company too. Seyuri had not realized how tense she had been recently until she felt herself completely relax as she leaned into Kakashi. He gave her a sense of safety and happiness that she didn't know she had been missing. She felt herself let go of all of her anxieties and worries and her eyelids slowly closed. After about ten minutes Kakashi carefully looked down and saw that Seyuri had fallen asleep, he knew she would, he could tell that she was exhausted. He felt slightly guilty for staying even though he knew she probably wanted to go to bed.
He carefully twisted and gathered the small woman in both his arms, holding her against his chest he smoothly stood and walked across the living room. Seyuri sighed in her sleep and her fingers gently grabbed the material of his shirt over his chest and a small smile appeared on her face. 'Must be a nice dream,' Kakashi thought as he watched her and a small smile crinkled his eye. He stealthily made his way down the hall and silently opened the door to Seyuri's bedroom, where he gently placed her on the bed and covered her with the blankets. He watched her for a few moments as she stirred slightly, but ultimately sunk into her pillow as she fell deeper into slumber. The room was softly illuminated from the street lights outside and he took his time as he observed her. Her lips were slightly open and he could hear her soft even breaths and her face was smooth and free of all expression. Her hair was splayed out around her and she looked so peaceful and beautiful to him in that moment. "Good night," he whispered as he bent down and gently placed his masked lips on her forehead. He then silently left the room and went and knocked on Tokiro's door.
"Kakashi?" Tokiro asked as he opened the door and gave him a curious look, "Is something wrong? Where's Sey-chan?"
"Seyuri fell asleep. I'm going to head home, so you need to make sure to lock the door behind me," Kakashi said as he made his way to the front door at the end of the hall, Tokiro following behind him. Kakashi opened the door and turned back to the boy, "And don't stay up too late."
"I know, are you going to be around tomorrow?" Tokiro asked and looked up at the tall ninja.
"I'm not sure what I'm going to be doing tomorrow," Kakashi said and looked at the boy curiously.
"Um, well me and Sey-chan are probably going to go to the training grounds tomorrow. She promised she would let me show her some of my new jutsu, so if you want to come, you can," Tokiro said in a hopeful tone.
"Well, I might be able to," Kakashi said, "Maybe I can even give you some pointers on your jutsu if you want."
"Really?!" the boy asked with hope and excitement in his eyes. "That would be awesome, you're one of the best ninja's in the whole village!"
"Well, I don't know about that," Kakashi said humbly, "But I don't mind if I'm going to be there anyways. See you tomorrow kid, don't forget to lock the door."
"Good night Kakashi," Tokiro said happily and closed the door. Kakashi waited to open the door to his own apartment until he heard the click of the deadbolt behind him. He sighed as he closed his door behind him and unzipped his vest as he made his way to his bedroom. He made a beeline for the bathroom and quickly showered before throwing on a pair of shorts.
Kakashi grabbed the book on his bedside table as he laid in bed and made himself comfortable. The day had been a bit busier than he had expected and he was ready to wind down for the night. He opened the book and stared at the page he had left off on, but his eyes couldn't seem to focus on the words in front of him. His mind wandered back to the events that had happened that day and he was honestly stunned that in the short amount of time Seyuri had been there that she was able to help the village as much as she did. What she had accomplished was no easy feat and he knew that she had already become a valuable asset to the village. His thoughts lingered on the last bit of time he had spent with her and he closed his eyes as remembered how it felt to have her so close. It was comforting and calming, yet made his heart race all at the same time. He snapped his book close with a sigh and placed it back in it's spot on the bedside table, then turned the light off and laid back in bed. He knew it was pointless trying to read and decided to let sleep overcome him.

Seyuri stretched and slowly opened her eyes, the room was dark and the only light came from the street lights outside her window. She turned her head towards the clock on her bedside table, slightly confused, and saw that it was 4:30 AM. She suddenly sat up quickly and looked around the room, remembering what she had been doing before she had fallen asleep. Her face flushed with embarrassment when she realized Kakashi must have carried her to her bed. She stretched her arms over head before swinging her legs over the edge of the bed, she felt better rested than she had in a long time. She often lay in bed with her mind racing at night, but last night she slept peacefully and she felt great because of it.
Seyuri decided it would be a great morning to go for a quick run before she completed her report for Tsunade. She quickly dressed in a pair of leggings and a loose t-shirt then tied her hair up before leaving a note on the table for Tokiro incase he woke up before she returned. Seyuri started out with a slight jog as she left her apartment building and headed in the direction of the training grounds. It was her favorite jogging path as it kept her out of the busy streets of the village and was a bit more scenic. She picked up the pace after a few moments and as the training grounds were coming into view she nearly ran into a man that appeared quite suddenly before her.
Seyuri quickly maneuvered to the left of the man and adrenaline rushed through her veins as she reached for the kunai hidden under her shirt. "Hey, you're out kind of early aren't you?" she heard a familiar voice and she felt herself relax a bit. "Your reflexes have gotten better too."
Her emerald eyes focused in the dim light of morning to show her familiar chocolate colored eyes and light brown hair. "God dammit Kenta, don't scare me like it that," she said and scowled at him, the tension leaving her body, "And I hope my reflexes have gotten better, I've trained damn hard."
Kenta laughed and looked a little taken aback when he heard her curse. "I never thought I'd hear such crude words from your lips. But I don't know you as well as I would like, so maybe we could change that…" he said letting his voice drop down to barely more than a whisper as he watched the petite redhead in front of him. He noted how her cheeks grew warm as the blood rushed to them.
"Um, I'm sorry Kenta," Seyuri said as she looked down at her hands in front of her. She didn't want to be rude with her rejection, but she didn't want it to seem like she was leading him on either. "You see, I'm not…."
"I know you said that you weren't interested in a relationship, but what harm could come from one date," he said and stepped closer to her.
"That's not-" she started to say as she took a step back, but he cut her off again.
"I mean, I'm not a bad guy at all. All I'm asking for is one date," he continued to take another step closer and she continued to back up.
"Kenta, I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in going on a date with you," she said and forced herself to look at him. The moment was awkward and she was completely taken off guard by his proposal and presence.
Kenta's face went completely devoid of emotion as her words sunk in. "You didn't even give me a chance," he said after a few moments of awkward silence then he took another step towards her, "How do you know you wouldn't be interested in me unless you actually get to know me"
Seyuri opened her mouth to speak and took a quick step back, the situation making her uneasy. Just as she was about to speak she felt her back hit something firm. She gasped in surprise and was about to launch herself to the right when the person behind her spoke, "Is there a problem here?" Relief seeped through her body when she recognized the voice.
"Kakashi, there isn't anything wrong. We were just having a private discussion," Kenta said hotly and glared at the taller silver haired ninja behind her, "So if you could give us some privacy that would be appreciated."
"No," Kakashi said flatly, surprising both Kenta and Seyuri, "You're scaring her, if you didn't notice."
Kenta blinked and looked at Seyuri before speaking, "I didn't do anything that would scare her, you don't even know what you're talking about. Now give us some space."
"When a lady says 'no', it means no," Kakashi said, his tone stern and his gaze hardened as he looked at the younger ninja in front of him. He did not think that Kenta meant any harm, but he could tell that Seyuri was uncomfortable and he didn't like the way that she had kept backing up from him.
"I think the only one scaring her here is you. How long have you been following her around? It's creepy," Kenta said, his voice raising slightly as he pointed his finger at Kakashi.
"I saw she was going on a run and I was just about to catch up to her when you approached her. I had no intention of following her without her knowing," Kakashi said calmly as he tried to deescalate the situation. "I decided to give you some space to talk and only caught the end of the conversation when I noticed she kept stepping backwards from you. It wasn't hard to figure out what happened."
"Why would you want to catch up to her anyways? You're not interested in girls like her and she's not just some dumb whore that you can play with," Kenta glared at Kakashi.
"You're right, she's not a whore. She's an amazing person who works really hard and does everything she can to help those around her," Kakashi said and Seyuri felt her blood rush to her cheeks at the compliments, "But, you don't get to tell me who I can be interested in and who I can't. I very much AM interested in Miss Ishikawa and she has already agreed to a date with me. Now that you know why she has rejected you, I think you should leave."
Seyuri felt her entire body flush, even her ears felt hot, as Kakashi exclaimed his intentions with her to Kenta. She had not expected Kakashi to be so public with their relationship, not that she was bothered with anybody knowing. She knew eventually word would get out, but she didn't expect Kakashi to go yelling it from the rooftops. She also felt mortified for Kenta, she had not intended the rejection to go this way. She studied Kenta's face for a moment before stepping forward and bowing her head towards him. "Kenta, I'm sorry. But this is the reason why I can't go on a date with you. I have somebody else that I like," she said softly.
Now it was Kakashi's turn to blush as the redhead in front of him confessed her feelings indirectly to him. His eye softened slightly as he watched her bow. Kenta watched the scene unfold before him and he was a little shocked to see how Kakashi's expression softened so much when he looked at Seyuri. 'Can't really compete with that,' he thought to himself as he felt his shoulders slump in defeat. "I understand," Kenta said, his voice sounded strange to himself and he took a step back, "I'm sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable, that wasn't my intention. I jumped to conclusions and didn't let you finish speaking earlier and I apologize for that too. Sorry for interrupting your morning." He quickly excused himself, leaving Seyuri and Kakashi in the middle of the street.
Seyuri was still standing with her back to Kakashi when she heard him chuckle. "I wonder how many other admirers I'll have to fend off," he said as she turned to face him.
"You didn't have to do anything, I was handling the situation," Seyuri said with a huff, "Poor guy is probably so embarrassed he went to hide under a rock for the next decade. And I wasn't scared…"
"Of course you weren't and I'm sure you would have handled the situation fine. That guy just irritates me for some reason," Kakashi said, the laughter leaving his voice.
"Hmmm," Seyuri said with a small smirk forming on her lips, "sounds like somebody is a little jealous." Kakashi stayed silent for a moment and a small frown turned the corner of his eye downward causing Seyuri to laugh. "It's only natural, I'm sure there will be a situation where I'll feel jealous too. Now, let's finish this run so I can make it back before Tokiro wakes up." With that she shot him a smile as she grabbed his hand and led the way back down the road, her hand slipping from his as she picked up the pace.
