Building a Bookshelf
An extended extra bit, originally shown at the end of chapter six of the canon story.
As the new students settled in, Velvet noticed Maine sit down with Ellie.
"What ya building there?"
"Oh, me and Mainey here…" Ellie began, ignoring Maine's grunt
"Please don't call him that." Sophia said. "He hates nicknames."
"We're just building a little beacon to keep everybody up to the know on whose where and all that jazz." The big girl beamed.
"You need a hand?" Velvet asked, suddenly making the veteran students freeze.
"Lets try not to have a repeat of Izuku's bookshelf, shall we?"
The veteran students shuddered at that memory.
"…Okay, I got to know!" Kohta said.
With a sigh, Hana pulled out what looked like a flim strip from her head as Luz created a large glass to showcase, with everyone who was there providing their own voice.
FLASHBACK!
The day after class introductions, the kids came together for a mission unlike any other.
"I want to thank you all for helping Izuku's bookshelf." Mamako said. "We got it from IKEA."
"...That's it?" Ulqiorra asked, seeing a single box.
"You'd be surprised how much they can stuff into one little box." Nui beamed as Tae reached to open it. When she did, all the parts for the bookshelf popped out and buried her, Michiru, and Nazuna
"OOF!"
"OW!"
"OUCH!"
The three girls popped their heads out, rubbing the bumps and pulling themselves out of the rubble.
"There're no words! Just pictures..." Crona mused as they tried in vain to dechipr the instructions.
"Ooooh! Like manga!" Luz beamed as she took the booklet. "Huh, the plot's there but the characters are all over the place."
Amity face-palmed at her girlfriend's 'selective stupidity.'
20 MINUTES LATER
"...How do we tell the difference between side A and side C?" Masato asked
"Side A should have one more L bracket." 21 mused
"You mean...'T' bracket, right?" Masato asked for clarification.
"...Uuuuuuuuuuuum..." The pink skinned girl just droned.
"21, so help me, if you've been confusing L and T Brackets THIS WHOLE BLOODY TIME...!" Seras growled, not backing down when Ulqiorra stood in front of 21, hands on his sword.
"Lets not fight, friends!" Penny cooed, getting between the two of them.
"Who used all the D-Screws? All I have are J-Knobs, which are worthless!" Yuno frowned. "Also, has anyone seen Back Panel G?"
"Uh...I think I found it..." Akira lifted his arm to reveal said piece stuck in his bicep and forearm. He tried to wave it out with no avail.
"Just unflex your arm, Akira!" Emi loudly suggested. Then TRYING to hold back, gently pulled...and broke it
"Oh, great! Just great! Now we got to go back and exchange the whole thing!" Masato groaned before taking a deep breath. "Come on, let's pack it up..."
What sounded simple turned out to be VERY TRICKY: The kids stuffed the boards into the box, which no could not close. And they still had a whole bunch of parts to return
"...How...?!"
"You're putting all of them in at once." Sho pointed out.
"They all came out at once!" Michiru reminded everyone.
"There's a method!"
THREE. HOURS. LATER
After dealing with some idiot pros and civilians on the train and said idiots then receiving calls from Nedzu, the kids finally made it to IKEA.
"We got a brand-new Bookshelf. I suggest we just build it right here." Ulquiorra said.
"Then when we mess up, we can get yet another one!" Michiru happily pointed out.
"For no extra cost either!" Nazuna added.
"Hopefully it won't come to that." Lucy sighed.
"Alright! Let's dominate this cheap piece of furniture!" Hana declared. "To the best of our limited abilities..."
2 MINUTES LATER
"Okay, we're out of parts and instructions..." Toga mused. "I think we're done!"
The assembled product... looked NOTHING like a shelf; it appeared more akin to a poorly constructed statue with no legs and wobbling.
"Apparently, what we have in excess of power and combat skill….we lack in fine motor skills." Emi sighed.
"Thanks anyways guys." Izuku smiled all the same, when all of a sudden….
BOOM!
There stood an annoyed Katsuki Bakugo, barely holding in annoyance and with smoke coming from his palms, which had just dismantled what was supposed to be the bookshelf.
"Hey, we spent all day on that!" Luz complained.
"HOW CAN YOU MORONS BE SO BAD AT THIS SHIT?!" Katsuki snapped before assembling the shelf in under five seconds.
"…. We take this shame to our graves." Spinel ordered.
"Agreed." Almost everyone else said.
Himiko however, was in Katsuki's arms, remarking how 'wonderful' he was with his hands.
"HIMI! THERE ARE KIDS HERE!" Masato said.
END FILM!
"…Who was that boy and what was he doing there?" Mukuro asked.
"Katsuki Bakugo" Izuku said. "My best friend and Himiko's boyfriend. Apparently, he and uncle Masa had blown up one of auntie Mitsuki's favoirte tables and were trying to find a new one when they saw what we were doing…."
"Katsuki's an ace at everything!" Himiko beamed. "That said, he is easy to annoy, so…."
Keep safe!
