A/N: Hi guys! Here's chapter 35, and I'm sorry it's taken so long! We only have 4 chapters left so we're nearly at the end hehe ?, this chapter is mostly a set up for 36 where all the fighting happens, but there is a Yamichar moment in this chapter hehe. I hope you all enjoy ?!

As the group finished coming up with a plan they began to divide the city up into sections that each family would try to protect.

" Yuno, Neva, Miku. You'll be taking the north section of the city." William said as he pointed on the map, the three nodded.

" Alright brats," Yami started as he looked at his squad members. " Grey, Gauche, and their brats will take the east section of the city. Zora, Nebra, and their brats will take the south section, and Asta, Noelle, and their brats will take the west."

" What about us Captain Yami?" Finral asked, a slight nervous tone in his voice, Yami looked at them with a grin.

" You three will be with us and Vangeance, we need Ezio close by so we can trap Noir with his magic. So the rest of us will be in the center here." Yami said as he pointed in the center of the map, Finral and Ezio both went pale.

" Don't worry," Hikari said. " You'll be closer to the south and we'll try to keep Noir as far away from you three as possible until Ezio's portal is ready. Then we'll take her to you." Hikari added and that only made the two pale further.

" Oh come on you two," Vanessa said cheerfully as she threw her arms of Finral snd Ezio's shoulders. " We can do this, besides if anything were to happen Rouge would step in. We'll be fine."

" I'm going with them." Josslyn said as she stepped towards them, and Hikari frowned.

" Joss-."

" No! I'm going with them, period." Josslyn said determinedly, and Hikari could see it in both Josslyn's Ki and in her green eyes.

She was worried about Ezio.

Hikari knew that the pink haired girl cared more for Ezio then she let on, but she was her own worst enemy and would always get in her own way when it came to her feelings for Ezio. But Hikari knew deep down that the girl genuinely shared the same feelings for the pink haired boy that he had for her.

Vanessa walked over to Josslyn and placed a hand on her shoulder and gave her a kind smile.

" It'll be okay, Finral and I will do everything in our power to keep our son safe and we probably won't be too far from you and your family if something were to happen. But don't you think your family will need you more?" Vanessa suggested kindly, when Josslyn turned to look at her family she noticed Ace had a pleading look in his eyes.

" Please big sis." Ace asked softly as he walked towards his sister and grabbed her sleeve, Josslyn looked from him to her 'parents'.

" I could use your help, especially since Ice Princess over here won't be of much help in battle." Zora said as he glanced over at Nebra, who scoffed and glared at him.

" Like you will be of much help, you'll probably be off looking for stink bugs or whatever, commoner." Nebra said before turning back to Josslyn. " I guess, I could use your help. That way I'm not outnumbered 2:1." She grumbled, Josslyn let out a sigh.

" Fine, I'll…help you guys out." She told them hesitantly. " But only because Ace asked me, I don't really care if you two struggle or not." She added.

" Alright, now that we have everything sorted out I think it's time we start the plan." William said and the group nodded, but before they got the chance to leave Miku hesitantly raised her hand.

" What," she started softly as she looked at everyone. " What's going to happen to Kya once you separate her from Noir?"

The group all looked at each other, with the Zogratis siblings none of them had made it out alive. Vanica had her life force taken by her devil, Zenon had developed a devil heart and was killed when Yuno had sliced it in half, and Dante was nearly dead himself before Magna had dealt the final blow.

The adults had no idea what to tell her.

Brielle walked over to her cousin and grabbed her hands, she had a determined look in her eyes.

" We'll save Kya no matter what!" Brielle said, sounding so much like her father, Miku blinked and Yuno and Neva both knelt down to the dark haired girl's level.

" She's right, we're going to do everything we can to save her." Neva told her and Yuno nodded in agreement.

" What happened to the Zogratis siblings won't happen to Kya, I won't let it, that I can and will promise you Miku." Yuno said as he patted her head and had a determined look on his face.

As Miku looked around at everyone she saw, they all were determined to save Kya, that they wouldn't let anyone else die because of Noir. Miku knew deep down that they really couldn't promise anything, but for some reason she believed them. She believed that everything would turn out okay, and that her little sister would be returned to her safely.

After the group comforted Miku they all went to their posts, Charlotte walked beside Yami as Hikari went ahead with William and the Roulacase family.

There was so much she wanted, no, needed to say. She wanted to tell him that she heard his and Hikari's conversations, both when Alistar passed and when Yami told their 'daughter' that he didn't feel good enough to be with Charlotte.

She wanted to tell him how wrong he was, how he was the only one she wanted to be with. How she didn't want to marry or date some nobleman who only saw her as a 'prize' and not a human. She wanted to tell him that the only reason her curse had been broken was because of him, because he stole her heart.

Now wasn't the time, that she knew, and it would be cliché of her to confess her feelings for him right now before some great and epic battle again but…

" I like you."

Yami stopped in his tracks, he didn't turn to look at her. Instead he just stood as still as a statue.

'Dammit Charlotte why did you let that slip out now?! I thought you weren't going to be cliché or make the same mistake twice?!' She mentally scolded herself as her face turned beat red, she couldn't believe she let those words slip out of her mouth!

" I-I, what I meant was I like your plans and ideas for this! T-That's what I meant!" She quickly tried to cover, but she knew that it was a weak lie that Yami could see through. She looked down at her shoes in the hopes that Yami would ignore what she said and just keep walking.

Instead, Charlotte suddenly felt something wrap around her and pull her close. When she looked up she noticed Yami had wrapped one arm around her in a hug.

" Y-Yami?" She stammered, her heart racing and her face steadily becoming more red. Yami didn't say anything for a while, instead he just held her close.

" When this battle is over, you and I are going to talk about this because there are some things I have to tell you too." He told her softly as he let her go. " But right now we need to focus on beating Noir." He added, Charlotte noticed his face was a little pink as well.

This was the first time she had ever seen him so embarrassed before.

" You're right. When the mission's over, we'll talk about this." She agreed, Yami nodded before turning around and walking ahead again, with Charlotte following behind him.

She couldn't help but hope that the battle with Noir would end quickly.

Back at the Lumi Castle

" I think you and I need to have a long overdue chat."

Discordia scoffed as she crossed her arms, she really didn't feel like talking to anyone at the moment. Especially not to him.

" You can leave, I have nothing to say to you." She told Nacht curtly, but Nacht quickly walked over to her.

" Well that's funny because I have a lot to say to you." Nacht told her Discordia let out a dramatic sigh before turning back to look at her cousin.

" What pray tell do you have to say to me?"

" I know about your daughter." Nacht said, he watched his cousin's eyes widen and he swore he saw her begin to shake. One thing that was certain was the mana suddenly became more intense.

" What about her?" Discordia asked, the smile on her face looking incredibly forced. Nacht knew he had touched a nerve.

" That she was taken from you, and that now you're using a devil as her replacement." Nacht said coldly. " Devils are not children, they're more like pets if I'm being honest."

" 'Pets'? You see them as pets?" She said with a humorless laugh, suddenly her cool facade completely deteriorating. She looked at her cousin with some of the coldest eyes he had ever seen.

" What if it were Morgen? If you met a devil who was exactly like Morgen, could you treat it as just a 'pet'?" She asked him, and Nacht froze for a moment.

If a devil appeared that was exactly like Morgen? He didn't quite know how he would react. It would be a shock, of course, but would he treat it the same as he treated his other devils he had?

" You're a hypocrite." She told him. " You want to scold me and yet you would probably do the exact same thing I would."

" I would destroy it." Nacht told her coldly. " It may look and act like Morgen, but it isn't him. At the end of the day Morgen, our Morgen, is dead. No devil could ever replace him."

He watched something flash in Discordia's eyes, it was an emotion he didn't recognize. She was angry, but there was something else in there too.

" So you would 'destroy' it. Just like how you want to destroy my child?" She asked, her voice dangerously low.

" Discordia, she isn't-!" Nacht said and he suddenly felt something cut his cheek, when he looked he noticed one of Discordia's blood knives sticking out of the wall.

When he turned back to face his cousin he saw a dangerous smile on her face as she began to use her blood magic.

" If you want to destroy my daughter, you'll have to go through me first, dear cousin." She told him as she held a bunch of throwing knives between her fingers.

Nacht sighed, he should have known talking to her rationally wasn't going to work. But it was better to have tried and failed than to not try at all.

" Have it your way then, dear cousin."

Back at the border of Spade and Lumi

Yami and the others waited and waited, he had given each family a communicator so they could all talk or ask for help if needed.

" Alright everyone, they're about to arrive. Make sure you're all prepared." Yami said he heard a bunch of 'yes captains' from everyone.

" Do you think Ezio will be able to figure out his new magic in time?" Charlotte asked as she stood beside Hikari.

" He will. I have faith in him." Hikari said confidently, and Charlotte chuckled.

" Hopefully you're right."

Suddenly Yami felt someone come to stand beside, when he turned he noticed it was William. The two stood silently as they stared out over the horizon.

" I wanted to ask you something, Yami." William said, and Yami nodded as he pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and began to take a drag.

" Go ahead."

" It's about Kya, I think I know how we can save her." William said softly so that Hikari and Charlotte wouldn't hear. He didn't want to give them false hope in case his plan happened to fail.

" You can save her? How?" Yami asked curiously, he also made sure to keep his voice low. This conversation would only be between them.

" I can use Yggdrasil. It'll take quite a bit of my mana so I may not be able to help much in battle. But if we manage to separate Kya and Noir like we did with Dante and Lucifero, and she still has some of her life force, I can use Yggdrasil to heal her and take her away. There won't be much time, so I'll have to be quick when I grab her."

Yami stood there in thought, it was a good idea, and considering William's spell had managed to heal quite a few of his Golden Dawn, it was worth a try. But the issue was the timing, they would have to give William an opening to use his spell and keep Noir distracted until he carried the girl away safely.

" It's worth a shot. I'll give you the opening you need." Yami told him, and William nodded. Yami turned to look at William, he knew the man felt regret at not being able to save his son. So now he was going to make up for it by trying to save his squadmate's daughter.

" I'm sorry about Alistar," Yami said suddenly. " I never got the chance to tell you that before."

William took a deep breath and nodded, he knew Yami had other things on his mind during that time and Hikari needed him. He gave Yami a small smile.

" Thank you Yami."

" Captain!" Yami suddenly heard someone shout from his communication device, he pulled it out of his pocket.

" Noir's army is here! They're approaching the North gate-." Yuno started before someone cut him off.

" Captain Yami sir, this is Asta! We have people coming to the west gate too sir!" Asta shouted loudly.

Suddenly a barrage of voices began to shout one by one through the device, Noir's army had the city surrounded. Yami and the others felt an intense mana come towards them and turned to look.

" Aw, were you all waiting for me?" Noir said tauntingly as the wings behind her disappeared and she landed on the ground in front of the group.

" You took your dear sweet time in showing up." Hikari stated as she pulled her Katana out as well as her grimoire, the others did the same.

" Sorry, I had places to go and people to possess. You know, devil things." Noir said with a shrug, the group could suddenly feel mana going off at all the different gates.

The groups were fighting.

" Oh dear, looks like your friends are going to struggle a bit. They really thought I'd come by with only peasants, there's nobles and royals in the bunch as well." Noir said with a grin, Yami let out a chuckle.

" Now who's the one underestimating people?" He asked. " Trust me, those kids will be able to handle whatever you throw at them."

" Oh I have no doubt that they'll at least be able to handle them in the beginning. But my question to you four now is," A wave of strong mana suddenly radiated from Noir as she smirked at them. " How long will you be able to handle me? After all, I'm much stronger than those at the gates."

" We'll be able to handle you just fine!" Yami said confidently as he and the other began to get their spells ready, Noir began to laugh as she did the same.

" While I admire your arrogance, I think it will be your ultimate downfall, Captains."
