Chloe sat with her daughter in Lucifer's kitchen as they ate dinner. Lucifer was gone thankfully. It had been a few weeks since they had been forced into Hell. Things between her and Lucifer had not improved at all, nor did Chloe intend for them to. She couldn't stand Lucifer. Part of that was because she resented being his 'gift' and being pulled out of her life for him, but part of it was also because he was a complete ass. He wouldn't even use her name. He kept calling her 'human' or sometimes, 'Darling'. She didn't know which infuriated her more. If she was going to be forced to spend the rest of eternity with him, he could at least make an effort to use her damned name.
"Mommy, can we please go outside tomorrow?" Trixie suddenly asked.
"No, Monkey. I'm sorry, but we have to stay inside," Chloe said in a sympathetic tone. She knew this was hard on her daughter. She was feeling really cooped up. So was Chloe, but they couldn't go outside. They were literally in Hell, with demons and probably fire pits. It wasn't safe. Besides, even if Chloe was willing to chance things, and she wasn't, Lucifer locked the door whenever he left. It was yet another reason she couldn't stand him. Realistically, she knew he was doing it for their safety, though she wasn't sure why he'd care, but it just made her feel more like a prisoner.
"But it's getting boring inside," Trixie complained.
"I know, baby, but it's what we have to do right now. Listen, how about we play a game before you go to bed? We can have fun inside," Chloe said.
Trixie sighed in disappointment. She knew it probably wouldn't be so fun. She wanted to go outside and explore. But she knew she didn't have a choice. "Okay, but I want Lucifer to play too."
Before she could answer, Chloe heard a door open and close, indicating that Lucifer was back. "Uh, we'll talk about it in a little bit. If you're done eating, why don't you go pick out a game and sit it up?"
"Okay," Trixie said before getting up and heading to her room.
Chloe got up and went into the living room, just in time to see Lucifer take his suit coat off and sit down on the couch. "You know, you don't have to lock the damned door every time you leave."
"Of course I do. I've seen how stupid you humans can be. You lot die every day because of your own stupidity," Lucifer said.
"Do you have to be such a jackass all the time? Look, I'd just like to feel a little less like a prisoner here," Chloe said.
"Why? You are one. We all are. You can thank my father for it. We're stuck with each other because of him," he said.
"Yeah, thanks for that reminder," Chloe snapped sarcastically. Like she needed a reminder that she was stuck in Hell forever with the Devil because God was such a sick that he decided it was perfectly reasonable to make her a piece of property for his son to own. To make matters worse, she wasn't even sure if it would end with her death, or if she could even die. Could a person die if they were already in Hell? "You know, you could at least try to do something to fix this situation."
"Like what?" Lucifer asked in an amused tone.
"Like tell your father you don't want his damned gift!" she said.
Lucifer laughed at her. "You're clearly one of the more dimwitted humans, huh? Do you not remember me screaming at the ceiling exactly that? I also sent the same message through my brother. My father doesn't care what I want. In fact, I'm certain he's taking great pleasure in the fact that this makes me miserable.
"Stop talking to me like I'm a damned idiot!" Chloe yelled.
Lucifer chuckled as he up and headed for the kitchen. "Well, Darling, it's hard to avoid when you speak like one.
Chloe glared at him with nothing but loathing in her eyes as she watched him pour himself a drink. The more he spoke to her the more she hated his guts. "You don't get to judge me on crap I don't know! This world was literally sprung on me! I was a damned atheist until your jackass of a father showed up in my kitchen, essentially announced that my entire existence was nothing more than a carrot to be dangled in front of your face and yanked me out of my life! Excuse me if I don't know everything.
"Oh? But's just fine for you to judge me, right? To accuse me wanting you soul? Bad if it would be of any use to me," Lucifer sneered.
"How the hell am I supposed to know what you do?! I don't know anything about you except that you're the freaking Devil and what's been said about you!" she snapped.
"How about you use some common sense? Do you believe everything you read in a bloody book?!"
Neither noticed Trixie in the doorway not looking happy. She hated when Lucifer and her mommy fought, and they fought a lot. They fought even more than her mommy used to fight with her daddy. At least with her daddy usually did something to make her mad. With her and Lucifer, neither of them really did anything. Trixie didn't understand all of it, but she did know that they were angry because Lucifer's daddy did something mean. Trixie thought adults could be stupid sometimes. Why would they be angry with each other because someone else did something wrong.
"I didn't believe any of it until it was rammed down my throat!" Chloe continued to scream.
Trixie sighed and walked passed them, neither even noticing as she did it. She walked out to the living room and to the door. She knew she wasn't supposed to go outside, but she was sick of sick of staying in the house. She wanted to explore. And she didn't want to listen to the yelling anymore. So, even though she knew she'd be in trouble later, she opened the door and snuck outside.
Meanwhile, Chloe and Lucifer were still arguing. "If you've got a problem with your predicament, Human, take it up with my father! It's not my problem!" Lucifer snarled.
"Stop calling me that! My name is Chloe! How would you like it if started calling you 'Devil'! Or how about I start calling you 'Samael'," Chloe goaded. She knew he hated that name, and if he wasn't going to give her the respect of calling her by her name, she'd start calling him by one he despised.
"You will not call me by that name!" Lucifer yelled as his eyes glowed red.
Chloe resisted the urge to flinch. She couldn't deny that his red eyes intimated her, but she refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing it. Besides, what could he possibly do to her at this point? "Or what? You gonna send me to Hell?"
Lucifer glared at her fiercely before grabbing his drink and storming off. He went back to the living room and sitting down. He was cursing his father even more than usual at the moment. As if being sent to Hell wasn't back enough. The bastard just had to send this woman to further torment him, and worse than that, sent her in the guise of a gift.
It was mere minutes before Chloe stormed into the room. "Where the hell is my daughter?"
"What? How should I know where your bloody offspring is? It's not my job to keep tabs on her," Lucifer said. Now it was apparently his fault because the stupid woman couldn't watch her own child.
"She's not in her room," Chloe said.
"And? I still don't see how that's my problem," Lucifer said.
"She's not anywhere! I checked the whole house! Where could she be?" Chloe asked, starting to get concerned.
Lucifer's eyes slowly turned to the front door. If the child wasn't in the house, it was really the only possibility.
Chloe's eyes went wide with horror when she realized what Lucifer was implying. "Are you kidding me? The one time you don't lock the door."
"I was here. There was no reason to lock it. You should've told your child not to venture outside," Lucifer told her before standing up.
"I did, but she's seven! Kids get curious, and when you tell them not to do something, typically, they wanna do it more. I shouldn't have to tell you that," Chloe said.
"I'll find her," Lucifer said as he headed for the door.
"I'm coming with you," Chloe said as she went to follow him.
"No, you're not. It's bad enough I've got one human possibly in the clutches of demons. You'll wait here," Lucifer said.
"Like I'm going to trust you to save my daughter!"
"I don't care whether you trust me or not. You're not leaving," Lucifer said before giving her a small push away from him. He then quickly left before closing and locking the door behind him. He could hear the woman screaming and cursing at him as he walked away, but he paid her no mind as he wasted no time in searching for the child.
