Welcome To Another Chapter Of Alebrije Sentai Lucharanger! I Hope You Enjoy This One, I Have Nothing Else To Say But, I Own Nothing!
At night, in the streets of Great Lakes City, Jim Sparkletooth was looking through footage of the Lucharangers and their allies' fight against the Pecadra, thankfully, all the footage was taken after their MaxLucha Mode was unlocked, so their identities were still unknown to him. "Dang It! If only there were a way to find a way uncover the Lucharanger's true identities!" Jim Sparkletooth said in frustration. Jim noticed his camera crew cowering in fear. "What are you guys so scared about?" He asked as a curious Alebrije looked into the van. "Those things! They've been showing up all over town ever since the Lucharangers destroyed the Pecadra!" One said. "Yeah! They are rather freaky!" Another one said. "Hey! I take offense to that!" The curious Alebrije said in offense to the crew member's comment. Jim realized something. "Hey! You're connected to the Lucharangers, right? You must know them somehow!" Jim said eagerly. "I'm afraid I don't what you're talking about! I'm pretty much confused about this world here anyway!" Said the Alebrije, which was turquoise-colored creature that resembled a Triceratops with the neck, mouth, and teeth of a Kaiwhekea (a species of Plesiosaur) and the wings and tail of an Archaeopteryx (a bird-like dinosaur) as well as four Plesiosaur flippers at the sides of his body (right above his Triceratops front and hind legs).
"All I know is that a group of humans somehow found their way into our world, talked about needing to speak with our leaders, the Alebrije Tribunal. A couple hours later, a shockwave erupted from the temple where the Tribunal are, and our world started collapsing, and all of us got shot into portals that lead here." The Alebrije said. "Interesting! I was wondering how you creatures got here in the first place!" Said Jim Sparkle with interest. "Say, I don't suppose you have a name, do you?" He asked. "Well, it would be rude not to tell you! Yes, I do have a name! It's Kaicerapteryx! I'm 1/3 Triceratops, 1/3 Archaeopteryx, and 1/3 Kaiwhekia! The last one's a species of plesiosaur, in case you don't know!" The turquoise-colored Alebrije, now named Kaicerapteryx, answered. "Did you notice any defining characteristics of the humans who visited?" Jim asked eagerly. "Well, four of the humans had rather big chests." Kaicerapteryx said.
Jim got an idea. "Pull up footage of LuchaPurple, Blue, Pink, and Silver!" He told one of the cameramen. "You got it, Jim!" Said the cameraman as he pulled up the footage for Kaicerapteryx to see. "Do these girls look familiar?" Jim asked. "I have no idea. They weren't wearing those colorful suits. Plus there was actually five human females." Kaicerapteryx said. "Five? What did the fifth one look like?" Jim asked in confusion. "She's clearly a lot younger than the others, due to her being shorter and not having a big chest like them!" Kaicerapteryx answered. "What did the others look like?" Jim asked. "I don't know, I got scared when they mentioned the Alebrije Tribunal and ran like several others before I could get a good look at any of them." Kaicerapteryx answered. "Although, I do remember one of the big-chested females being much taller than the others, kind of like the pink-suited one I see on that footage you have shown me!" He noted when looked at Nikki's LuchaPink form. "Okay, that's not much to go on, but it works. Here, have 20 dollars." Jim Sparkletooth said, giving it to the Alebrije who looked at the money in confusion. "Uh, thanks?" He said, confused, flying off. "Well that narrows it down." Jim said sarcastically. "Perhaps I can help." A voice called out as everyone looked to see a cloaked figure.
"Huh? And who are you?" Jim asked in confusion and suspicion. "Someone with information on the Lucharangers. You want it? All you have to do is win a little game." The figure said, snapping his fingers, causing a chess board to appear. "Hmm! A chess game, huh? It's been a while since I've actually played one! Okay, then, I'll play your game!" Jim said. "Excellent." The figure said, soon, the game was nearing it's end, and Jim was sucking! The only pieces he had left were his king and one pawn, while the figure had an entire set! "This doesn't look good for our boss!" One of the cameramen noted. "Shh!" Jim said as he moved his pawn one square ahead. "Big mistake." The figure said as Jim realized too late that he had placed his pawn in the exact spot one of the figure's knights could go to. "Dang It!" Jim shouted in horrible realization. The figure captured Jim's last remaining pawn. "Normally, this would be a Bare King, but I believe, there's no way out." The figure said as Jim realized there was literally no way to avoid putting his king in check. "But that would mean." Jim said as the figure pulled out a staff. "Checkmate." He said as a bright flash of light erupted from his staff, transforming Jim and his camera crew into chess pieces. Then, the figure picked up the people-turned-chess pieces and made an evil laugh.
He then dropped them into a bag that included several other people and Alebrije transformed into Chess Pieces. "Where to now?" He asked, exiting the van. "Checkmate is doing an excellent job, Iracundo." Orgullo told Iracundo as they watched from afar. "I know, right? Checkmate is a complete master of chess!" Iracundo boasted. "I dare any of the humans to find a better player!" Iracundo said. "And Checkmate!" Carl said, capturing the king of another member of Cesar Chavez's Chess club, much to everyone's shock. "He managed to beat the captain, no one's beaten the captain!" One student said in shock. "Aw Man! I can't believe you've actually beaten me!" The captain of the chess club said in defeat. "You know it!" Carl said, laughing in victory. "At least he's using Chess as a hobby instead of a way to trick people, now." Ronnie Anne muttered as she and Sid watched from the other end of the lunchroom. "Yeah, it was horrible!" Sid noted. "Your Tia and Tio must have really scared him straight." Jaxondor said. "Oh, you know it! Of course, they had little help from CJ, who farted loudly while Carl was sleeping!" Ronnie Anne stated.
"That reminds me of a friend we have." Ailuxucara said. "His name is Mephoatzeal! He's 1/3 Striped Skunk, 1/3 Hoatzin, a.k.a. Stinkbird, and 1/3 Northern Elephant Seal and he's 100% stinky, which is appropriate, due to his element being, well, Gas!" Ailuxucara explained. Ronnie Anne and Sid shuddered in disgust at that before Sid realized something. "Didn't Mama Lupe give you guys an Alebrije statue matching that description?" She asked her girlfriend. "Hey! You're right, Sid! In fact, I believe that Alebrije statue was brown in color!" Ronnie Anne replied. "So is Mephoatzeal." Jaxondor said. "We might need to take a closer look at some of those statues, because I'm pretty sure I saw some matching their description while we were in the Alebrije world." Sid said. "Good idea! Of course, I believe Mama Lupe is teaching Tia Frida how to make Alebrije statues of her own, mostly because of how much she likes her artistic skills!" Ronnie Anne said.
"Hey, has AkaRed told you anything about that 'special project' he's been working on?" Sid asked. "I'm afraid not, Sid!" Ronnie Anne replied. "Not even Mambana and Axolota know anything about it!" Jaxondor said. "Nor does Lisa!" Ailuxucara added. "Just what could he be doing?" Ronnie Anne asked Meanwhile, Iracundo was watching Carl continue to beat people at chess and got interested in LuchaGold's prowess. "Hmmm! Looks like LuchaGold might be a worthy opponent for Checkmate!" Iracundo surmised. He then summoned a bat and whispered a message to it. He then summoned a bat and whispered a message to it. Once he finished his message, Iracundo let the messenger bat fly off to find the other Pecadiablos.
Later that day...
We see Ronnie Anne, Sid, Carl, and the rest of the Lucharangers exit the school. "So what are we going to do about all the Alebrije that have been forced out of their world?" Sid asked. "Well, I think the first thing is that we should at least let a few of them crash at the apartment complex until we can find them a good home!" Ronnie Anne answered. "Hopefully we can do so fast. We don't want to scare anyone!" Adelaide said. "Those statues Mama Lupe gave us might be able to help, and if that light Aya said she was exposed to is anything like the light AkaRed said your guys' ancestors were exposed to when Magigo first sealed the Pecadiablos, that might be able to help as well." Jaxondor said. Just then, Kaicerapteryx was wandering around in the air until accidentally bumped into Julius, who was with Ricky while they were exiting the school. *Groan* "What is with these things?! I've seen 20 of them today alone!" Julius complained. "Oh! Sorry about that! I'm kind of lost over here!" Kaicerapteryx apologized. "My name is Kaicerapteryx! What's yours?" He asked.
"Nuneya, none ya business!" Julius said, tossing the Alebrije aside. Upon seeing that, Magnifalcougar got angry and flew over towards Julius. "Hey! That's my best friend you tossed away, you rude dude!" Magnifalcougar angrily yelled while confronting Julius. While this was going on, Ronnie Anne and her group were discreetly rushing over to Kaicerapteryx and helping him get away. "Um, thanks! Do you guys mind if I stay with you, because I'm completely lost here!" Kaicerapteryx said quietly. "Sure." Ronnie Anne said as the Alebrije recognized them. "Kaicerapteryx! It's good to see you!" Trisaurus said. "Man, am I glad to see you guys!" Kaicerapteryx said. "I'll say! Your best friend Magnifalcougar is here too! As you can see, he's angrily confronting that fat kid who rudely tossed you aside!" Lunastura said as she pointed to where Magnifalcougar was seen arguing at Julius while Ricky was next to the fat kid. "Listen Kaicer-" Ronnie Anne said, trying to say the Alebrije's name, before just shaking her head. "Mind if we call you Kai?" She asked.
"Sure, you can! Plus, it does sound cool!" Kaicerapteryx replied. He then realized something. "Hey, you're the humans that came to the world of the Alebrije!" He said. "Yep! It's us!" Casey said. "I'm Ronnie Anne, this is my girlfriend Sid, our friends Casey, Sameer, Sameer's girlfriend Nikki, Laird, my cousin Carl, and Sid's sister Adelaide." Ronnie Anne introduced. "So, that's what your names are! Pleased to meet you!" Kaicerapteryx said. Then, he shook his a little and said "Wait a minute! Ronnie Anne, you said Sid here is your girlfriend, even though you yourself are a girl? I don't get it!" in confusion. "It's complicated, just go with it." Jaxondor said as she caught Magnifalcougar by the tail, it being painfully obvious Julius having given the Cougar/Peregrine Falcon/Fire Goby Alebrije the same treatment. "Whoa! Magni! Are you okay?" Carl asked in concern. "Yeah, I started berating those boys, while noticing the blonde kid had some sort of presence about him, when the big one grabbed me and tossed me aside." Magnifalcougar said.
"Yeah, the blonde kid is Ricky, Becky's younger brother, while the big one is his friend Julius! Those two are what you might call bullies!" Carl explained. "The blonde boy's related to Becky? Easy to see it runs in the family." Jaxondor said. "*SHUDDER!* Tell me about it!" Ronnie Anne noted. Meanwhile, Ricky was thinking about something. 'Just what happened to us?' He thought.
Flashback...
Ricky, Becky, and Dodge were actually fighting some Demi Diablos that had split from the group during the battle against the Lucharangers. "Take This!" Becky shouted as she body-slammed a Demi Diablo into the ground. "Hey, uglies!" Dodge said, arming an automatic Dodgeball launcher. "Eat rubber!" She said, setting it to rapid fire and hitting the activation button. That caused several Demi Diablos to be pelted by a barrage of dodgeballs. "Dang, just how many of these things are there?!" Ricky asked. "Yeah, and where are Ronnie Anne and the others?" Becky whispered to Dodge, the two having already decided not to tell Ricky what they knew. "I don't know!" Dodge whispered back. Suddenly, the shockwave from the Sacred Power erupted, destroying the remaining Demi Diablos and bathing the three in light. The light caused Becky, Dodge, and Ricky to glow in three different colored lights; a cyan-colored one for Becky, a an orange-colored one for Dodge, and a magnet-colored one for Ricky. "Huh?" The three asked themselves as the flashback ends.
"Everything alright, Rick?" Julius asked. "Yeah, I'm fine." Ricky said as they left. Unbeknownst to them, the three Alebrije known as the Wild Bunch were groaning in a nearby tree. "*GROAN!* Did anyone besides me feel like we got hit by a falling mountain?" Aurastrolumba asked. "Yeah, what's up with that? One minute we're outside the Tribunal Temple, next we've been knocked into a portal and landing in this tree!" Prawngolequin complained. "Think it might be something to do with that shockwave of energy that came from the Tribunal Temple!" Harpygolverine surmised. "Hey, Ricky, wait up!" Becky called out to her brother. This caught both Harpygolverine and Aurastrolumba's attention as they saw the brother and sister. "Don't forget about me!" Said Dodge as she caught up with Becky and Ricky. This caught Prawngolequin's attention. "Either I'm seeing things, or I'm feeling a presence within that boy!" Aurastrolumba noted. "I'm definitely feeling a presence in that blonde girl!" Harpygolverine said.
"Same with the dark-skinned girl!" Prawngolequin stated. They then saw Becky pull Dodge into a kiss. That sight took the Wild Bunch by surprise and made them confused. "That's strange." Harpygolverine said. "'Strange' is right! I mean, why would two girls kiss each other on the lips like that?" Prawngolequin asked in confusion. "Yeah! Normally, it would be a boy kissing a girl, not two girls kissing each other!" Aurastrolumba noted. "Whatever the reason, I think we should follow them." Harpygolverine said. "Good idea!" Said Prawngolequin.
Meanwhile...
"So LuchaGold is reportedly a good Chess Player, huh?" Checkmate asked Iracundo. "Yeah! I saw him beating every single member of the school's chess club, including the captain!" Iracundo answered. "Well, then, looks like we finally found a worthy opponent!" Checkmate said, stepping out of the shadows. That's when he removed his cloak and revealed himself to have the appearance of an Ipotane (a mythical humanoid that had the body and arms of a human and the head, hind legs, and tail of a horse) with bat wings on his back and wearing a black-and-white chess board-patterned tuxedo shirt with matching pants, a necktie with the image of a rook chess piece on it, a royal cape around his neck and shoulders, two cufflinks shaped like bishop chess pieces on his shirt cuffs, a belt with an image of a queen chesspiece on its golden buckle, and a golden imperial crown on his head while holding a staff, which was tipped with a golden pawn chess piece. "I'll be sure to test his skills in chess, but before I do, how's about a little fun?" Checkmate asked. "Sounds good to me!" Iracundo answered.
"And next thing I know, I'm smack dab in the middle of a place called a skate park!" Kaicerapteryx told the Lucharangers. The Lucharangers and their Alebrije partners looked at him in shock and surprise. "Dang, Kai. You must have had it rough." Ronnie Anne said. "Yeah, it was! Plus, I met this guy who was looking for some information about some colored costumed people! When I told him some information about you guys instead, he thanked me and gave me this piece of green paper, that I think is supposed to be currency, and let me go on my way!" Kaicerapteryx replied as he pulled out the $20 bill that Jim Sparkletooth gave him from his tail feathers. The Lucharangers facepalmed at that. "Huh? Is something wrong?" Kaicerapteryx asked in confusion. However, before they could say something, screams could be heard. "Oh, now what?!" Carl asked in annoyance. They ran in the direction of the screams to witness Checkmate turning people into chess pieces.
"What the heck?!" Ronnie Anne asked in shock. "Did the Pecadiablos bring a chess set to life or something?" Sid asked in confusion. "That's Checkmate, one of Iracundo's soldiers." Jaxondor explained. "In case you all wondering what he's supposed to be based on, Checkmate is based on an Ipotane, a mythical humanoid being that has the body and arms of a human and the head, hind legs, and tail of a horse!" "At least it's not another Pecadra." Ronnie Anne said, making everyone shudder in fright at that. "Pecadra?" Kaicerapteryx asked in confusion. "Long story." Ronnie Anne said. "It's odd that he's turning people into Chess Pieces directly. Normally, he looks into people's hearts, finds a desire, challenges them to a game of chess, with the desire they want as the prize, then turns them into Chess Pieces." Batelegong said. "Right after he beats said people at chess, that is!" He added. "Dang." Ronnie Anne said. The others shuddered at that. "Well we can't let him get away with whatever he's planning." Ronnie Anne said.
"Hey, Pecadiablo!" Ronnie Anne called, catching Checkmate's attention, just as he turned Bruno into a rook. "Oh! Good! More people to turn into chess pieces!" Said Checkmate with a wicked grin. "And some Alebrije too!" He added in glee. "I don't think so!" Ronnie Anne said. "Yeah, you are going do-" Laird said as Checkmate shot his beam at Laird and Leaquilfin, turning them into a Bishop and Pawn respectively. "Oh No! Laird!" Sid shouted in horror. "Two more for my collection!" Checkmate said, sucking the pieces into his bag. "You're going to pay for that." Ronnie Anne said. "Lucha Power!" They all cried. That's when the they all transformed into their Lucharanger forms, much to the shock and surprise of both Kaicerapteryx and Checkmate. "The Lucharangers! I've been waiting for you! Especially you, LuchaGold! I understand you're quite the Chess player!" Checkmate said. "What the?! How did you know about that?!" Carl asked in confusion. "We have our ways!" Checkmate said. "Well you'd better give us back our friend or else!" Ronnie Anne said. "How about this!" Checkmate asked, shooting a beam at Ronnie Anne, which Sid quickly intercepted, getting herself and Ailuxucara turned into a Knight and a Pawn respectively.
"SID! NO!" Ronnie Anne cried out in horror. "Thank you!" Checkmate said, collecting the pieces. "You're going to pay for that!" Ronnie Anne said. She then created a massive ball of lightning, wind, and rain in her hands and prepared to throw it at Checkmate. "Yeah, I don't think so." Checkmate said, shooting a beam from his staff, turning Ronnie Anne and Jaxondor into a Knight and Pawn respectively. That also caused the ball of lightning, wind, and rain to disappear in a puff of clouds. Checkmate started laughing as he collected the pieces. "Okay, so Ronnie Anne's the leader, and Sid's second, but who's after Sid?" Casey asked in confusion. "I guessing that it would be you Casey!" Nikki surmised. "Me?!" Casey asked in surprise before Checkmate turned him and Trisaurus into a Rook and Pawn. "Well, there goes that." Adelaide said. "Dang It!" Sameer and Nikki shouted in frustration. "Okay, enough talk, let's just beat him up until he frees our friends!" Carl suggested. "Better than doing nothing at all!" Sameer agreed as he, Nikki, Adelaide, and Carl charged towards Checkmate. "And boop!" Checkmate said, shooting beams at Nikki and Adelaide, turning them into a Bishop and Queen respectively, while their Alebrije got turned into Pawns. "Let's keep our distance." Sameer suggested.
"Agreed!" Carl replied. "Lucha Booster!" LuchaGreen and LuchaGold called, summoning the gauntlets. "MaxLucha Power!" They shouted, entering MaxLucha mode. "You think that is supposed to stop me?!" Checkmate asked with a smug smile. "Why don't you take some of this and answer that yourself!" Carl said as Sameer summoned a sandstone boulder while Carl summoned a miniature sun before they launched them. Unfortunately for the two Lucharangers, Checkmate was able to dodge both of their attacks without getting injured. "Weak!" He declared. "Dang It!" Sameer and Carl shouted in frustration. Checkmate then fired a beam at Sameer, turning him into a Rook and Batelegong into a Pawn. "And now you're the last man standing!" Checkmate said as he then picked up the chess pieces while laughing. "Bring it!" Carl said. "Oh, I will, but not now!" Checkmate said. "What do you mean 'not now'?" Carl asked in confusion. "I hear you're quite the Chess Prodigy, so I'm willing to make you a deal! One hour from now, the top of that building." Checkmate said, pointing to the Casagrandes' apartment building. "1-on-1 standard chess rules. If you win, my spell will be broken on everyone I've captured, but if I win, then you will be joining them!" Checkmate explained.
"You're on!" Carl declared. "Carl, are you crazy?! No one's ever beaten Checkmate in chess!" Magnifalcougar warned. "Really? Then, how did Magigo manage to put that guy in the Dark Box?" Carl asked in confusion. "He had to rebound Checkmate's magic with a reflective stone!" Magnifalcougar explained. "Well, unfortunately, we don't have something like that! So, beating this guy at his own game is the only way we can save everyone!" Carl said. Checkmate started laughing at that. "I'd like to see you try, LuchaGold!" He said. Checkmate then disappeared in a flash of fire. "Is it safe to come out now?" Asked Kaicerapteryx as he appeared from behind a bush. Carl undid his transformation and looked at Kaicerapteryx. "Yeah, I think it is." Carl said. "Whew! That's good to know!" Kaicerapteryx said in relief. "But what's going on here?!" He asked in shock. "I think it is best that you come with us to the temple in order to get a full explanation of things!" Magnifalcougar replied. "Good idea." Kaicerapteryx said.
Meanwhile...
Becky and Ricky were waving goodbye to Dodge from their house. "See you tonight, my love!" Becky called to Dodge. "Okay! Take care, Becky!" Said Dodge. "There's something about that blonde girl that just gets me, you know?" Harpygolverine asked, the Wild Bunch watching them from another tree. "Now that you've mentioned it, Harpygolverine, she does seem to look like a tough girl, kind of like you!" Prawngolequin noted. "I on the other hand, seem to be drawn to the one she called 'her love'. Still not sure what's up with that." She noted. "Me neither! Of course, the blonde boy, who I believe is the blonde girl's brother, is the one I'm drawn towards to!" Aurastrolumba noted. "What do we do about this?" Prawngolequin asked Harpygolverine. "I don't know." Harpygolverine admitted.
Back At The Temple...
We see Carl, Magnifalcougar, Mambana, and Axolota explaining to Kaicerapteryx about what has been going on, including the events that led to the Pecadiablos being freed as well as what happened in the Alebrije Tribunal Temple. "I see." Kaicerapteryx said. "That explains how you and your friends were able to transform into those 'Lucharangers', as you call them! It also explains how I ended up in this world!" He noted. "Yeah, sorry about that. We had no idea taking the Sacred Power would do that." Carl said. "Well, at least you all had a very good reason for wanting the Sacred Power in the first place!" Kaicerapteryx replied. "Yeah. Hey, where's AkaRed?" Carl asked Mambana and Axolota. "He's still beneath the temple working on that 'special project' of his." Mambana explained. "Dang It! I could really use some advice from him that I can use against Checkmate!" Carl complained. "Perhaps I can help." Axolota said. "On Animari Prime, we had a game similar to Chess, all the same rules, and I was pretty good at it." Axolota said. "Really? How good?" Carl asked. "Enough to beat Master Toadus who's the equivalent of a Grand Master." Axolota said. "Wow! That's really good!" Carl said in astonishment. "So, what advice do yo have for me that can use in my upcoming match against Checkmate?" He asked. Soon, they began talking.
Later, on top of the rooftop...
Checkmate was playing a game with a Demi Diablo. "And Checkmate!" He said. The Demi Diablo then lowered its head down in defeat. Checkmate started laughing. "No one can defeat me!" He said. "Think again!" Carl called out as the Solar Speedster drove up the side of the building and landed ontop of the roof. "Dude, the door's unlocked, you could have just walked in through there." Checkmate said, pointing to the open roof access door. "Yeah, well, I thought I would be better have a grand entrance like this! Plus, I didn't want to walk all the way up the stairs and tire myself out before I could even start playing!" Carl answered. "Eh, it's probably for the best. Fair warning, though. While we'll be playing with standard Chess rules, this will be far from a standard game!" Checkmate said. "How so?" Carl asked in confusion. "Come with me, LuchaGold." Checkmate said, raising his staff in the air. "To my Chess dimension!" He declared as a bright light blinded Carl. When the light subsided, he found himself in a white area, standing atop a giant Chessboard.
"Holy Chalupa!" Carl exclaimed in shock upon seeing that. "Welcome LuchaGold, to my Chess Dimension. Here, we play for our lives!" Checkmate said, casting a spell that undid Carl's transformation. "Here's how this game's going to work. You and I are the Kings." Checkmate said as royal garb appeared over Carl's outfit and a golden throne erupted out of the ground, specifically the spot where the King goes on a chessboard, while a black throne appeared behind Checkmate, which he sat down in. "These are our Pawns." Checkmate said as a eight small, fat Demi Diablos appeared in the line in front of him, while Trisaurus, Jaxondor, Regaluco, Magnifalcougar, Lunastura, Leaquilfin, Ailuxucara, and Batelegong appeared in the same spots, each dressed in armor, carrying a shield. That's when the eight Alebrije looked around in confusion. "What in the world?" Jaxondor asked. "These are our Rooks." Checkmate said as two tall, and incredibly buff Demi Diablos appeared on either end of his side of the board, while Casey and Sameer, dressed as Castle towers appeared on either end of Carl's side of the board.
"Holy Shamoly! What just happened to us?!" Casey asked in confusion. "These are our Knights." Checkmate said as two Demi Diablos riding skeletal horses popped up next to his Rooks, while Ronnie Anne and Sid, wearing purple and blue armor, riding matching horses, appeared in the corresponding spots. "Huh? Where are we?" Asked Ronnie Anne. "And why are we wearing armor and riding on horses?" Sid asked in confusion. "These are our Bishops." Checkmate said as two Demi Diablos wearing clothes of the clergy appeared next to his Knights while Nikki and Laird appeared, wearing pink and yellow outfits matching appeared in the corresponding spots. "Huh? What the heck?! Why am I wearing these clothes?!" Nikki asked in shock and confusion. "And these are our Queens." Checkmate said as a slim, female Demi Diablo sitting in a heart shaped throne appeared next to him, while Adelaide appeared in a silver throne next to Carl. "Huh? Carl? What's going on?! And why am I dressed like a Queen of England?!" Adelaide asked in confusion. "Yeah, what's the big idea here, Checkmate?" Carl asked.
"I thought it would be amusing to have your friends play as your chess pieces, so that it will be even more glorious when I defeat you!" Checkmate answered. "Now let me explain some of the rules, for the less educated. Pawns can normally only move one square ahead, however, when using a Pawn for the first time, the player has the option to move two squares ahead, but they can only do so once and if it's their first time using that particular Pawn." He started explaining. "A Pawn can only capture an opposing piece if said piece is diagonally to the left or right of them. If a Pawn successfully makes it to the end of the opposing player's side, the player can replace that pawn with a piece the opponent had previously captured." He explained. "Rooks, can move however many squares as they want, but only if it's in front, behind, or beside them." Checkmate explained. "Knights have to move in a specific pattern. They can move up or down one square vertically and 2 squares horizontally, or two squares up or down vertically and one horizontally, as long as it's in an 'L' pattern. They are also the only pieces that can move past other pieces. Bishops can only move diagonally, Queens can move in any direction at any given time as long as no pieces obstruct them, and the King can only move one square at any given time." Checkmate explained.
"That seems fair!" Laird noted. "Oh, this game is anything but fair! While the rules are standard, the gameplay is not! Scattered throughout the board are various booby traps! Stuff like 'Return to your point of origin' or 'STOP!', and even a few 'Get an extra turns'. And if you're lucky, you'll find a teleport square, that will put you in an advantageous position!" Checkmate said. "Me and my big mouth!" Laird complained. "White goes first, that's you." Checkmate told Carl. "Of course!" Said Carl. "Magni, move two spaces forward." Carl ordered. "Okay! If you say so!" Said Magnifalcougar as he did exactly what Carl told him to do. However, the moment he stepped onto the first square, it popped up like a springboard, causing Magnifalcougar to crash back onto his original square. "Dang It!" Magnifalcougar shouted in frustration. Checkmate burst out in laughter. "Looks like found one of the 'Return to your point of origin' squares!" Checkmate said while laughing. "And to make matters worse, at least for you, that counts as your first move with that Pawn! Not only that, but when we land on those squares, our turns immediately come to an end!" Checkmate revealed.
"Double Dang It!" Carl and Magnifalcougar shouted in frustration. "Which means it's my turn! Knight A!" Checkmate called to the Knight closest to the Queen. "Move to the front of Pawn 6!" He ordered. The Knight immediately responded by riding its skeletal horse as it jumped up over one of the Pawns and then moved over to the sixth Pawn. The square beneath the skeletal horse's hooves began to glow. "Looks like I found a 'Get an extra turn' square!" Checkmate said. "Uh Oh!" The Lucharangers and Alebrije said at once. "Get over there, Knight B!" Checkmate said pointing to a corresponding spot on the other end of the board. The second Knight respond by doing exactly what Checkmate said. "You're up, filthy human! And just so you know, because we've both gone, the booby traps have all shuffled around!" Checkmate said. "*GULP!*" Carl gulped nervously. "Choose your move carefully, human!" Checkmate said. "Carl, be careful!" Ronnie Anne said. "You don't think I'm trying? Uh, Sid, move to the spot that's across from that guy!" Carl said, pointing to the spot two squares across from one of Checkmate's knights.
"Oh! Okay, I guess!" Sid said nervously. Sid then lead her horse to the spot in question, the moment it touched it's hooves on the ground, a hole opened up, causing Sid to fall through. "Well, looks like you found a teleportation square." Checkmate said as Sid's screams could be heard. "Where does that go?!" Ronnie Anne asked Checkmate in anger and horror. "I don't know. This maybe my dimension, but I know nothing about what goes on." Checkmate admitted. That only made Ronnie Anne growl in anger. Sid then popped up in right beside the second knight still screaming. "Sid, my love! Are you okay?" Ronnie Anne asked. "I think so!" Sid said. "Not for long, you're not!" Checkmate said as Sid realized she was diagonally in front of one of Checkmate's Pawns. "Oh Snap!" Sid said in awful realization. "Bye bye! Pawn 2, go to where she is!" Checkmate said as said Pawn prepared to attack Sid, only for his sword to be blocked by an 'X'. "Your lucky day, it seems I got a 'STOP' square." Checkmate said.
"Whew! Now, that was close!" Sid said in relief. "Your move, human." Checkmate said. 'Great, what do I do? I could have Sid capture one of his Pawns, or his Rook, but either of those will put her in danger of his Queen, and I don't think Ronnie Anne would take too kindly to Sid being captured.' Carl thought to himself. "Sid, move back two, then hang a left!" Carl said. "Okay!" Sid said as she motioned her horse to where Carl wanted her to go to. Landing on an 'Extra turn' square. "Nice one!" Said Sid. "Ronnie Anne, get close to where Sid is!" Carl said. "On it!" Said Ronnie Anne. Ronnie Anne was able to get next to Sid, before kissing the girl on the cheek. "Oh, Yuck! Two girls kissing each other on the lips? Now that is disgusting!" Checkmate said in disgust. "Watch your mouth, buster!" Ronnie Anne threatened. "Yeah! We already get enough of that from Lujuria, we don't need it from a Henry VIII wannabe!" Sid said. "Yeah, well, unlike Lujuria, I'm not really into romance, since that's her territory! I'm actually from Master Iracundo's army, in case you don't know!" Checkmate retorted. "Also, I don't know who Henry VIII is, so I'm afraid your attempt at an insult is useless!" He added. "Just shut up and play!" Carl said.
A few turns (Because I'm Too Lazy To Come Up With A Full Game Of Chess) Later...
The game was in full swing, Carl still had everyone on his side, while Checkmate had one of each piece left, one Knight, one Rook, one Bishop, one Pawn, and his Queen. Adelaide swung her staff with a mighty yell, destroying Checkmate's Queen before hopping her throne into where the opposing piece just was. "Okay, looks like he's really a lot closer to winning than any player that have ever beaten!" Checkmate noted. "Looks like I'm going to have to resort to drastic measures." Checkmate said as his eye glowed and he saw the board, noticing that there was a teleport square leading to Carl's end of the board in front of his remaining Pawn. He then made a wicked grin. "Pawn, go one step forward." Checkmate said. Then, the Pawn responded by going to the square in front of it, causing the Pawn to be teleported directly to Carl's end of the board. "Uh oh." Carl said in realization as the Pawn started glowing. "Standard Chess rules, when a Pawn reaches the opposing side of the board, the player can replace it with anyone captured piece. Only question is, do I bring back my beautiful queen, which would bring you to Checkmate, or do I have a little fun by choosing someone else?" Checkmate asked, noting that Carl hadn't moved at all in the entire game.
"This is really bad!" Carl said in fright. "You know what? I think I'll have some fun with you. Rook." Checkmate declared. That's when the Pawn was switched out by the Rook that was captured a few turns ago. "I believe this is check." Checkmate said as a red 'X' started appearing above Carl. "Aw, nuts! I better do something and quick!" Carl said in realization. "Here's hoping this square's something good!" Carl said, jumping on the square in front of him, causing Carl to spin. "I was wondering when someone would land on one of those squares. It's a rare random attack square. When one of us lands on it, we are forced to randomly attack the first piece we see, no matter how far, or who's side it's on!" Checkmate revealed. "Say What?!" Ronnie Anne and the others all said in shock. "That's right! The second Carl stops spinning, the first piece he sees is gonezo!" Checkmate said. "Oh no! If Carl stops in front of one of us, it's game over for one of us!" Laird said in fright. "Come on Carl, stop in front of one of his guys!" Ronnie Anne begged. "Checkmate himself would be the best option!" Sid said.
Carl stopped, and much to everyone's relief, the first piece he saw was the Rook that just had him in Check a moment ago. "Ma!" Machamp said, knocking every Meteor aside with purple hands before striking Flygon with the Dragon-type move. "Rats!" Checkmate said in annoyance. Then, Carl had his throne move towards the Rook before he then destroyed it with a karate chop and had his throne hop to where the Rook used to be. "Phew!" Everyone on Carl's side said in relief as Checkmate looked through his cheating eye again and saw a random attack square next to him. However, he quickly did the math and realized the square was in a position that would put him in check courtesy of Ronnie Anne. 'D'OH! I have to think of something else!' Checkmate thought to himself in frustration. Noticing his one remaining Rook was also in the path of the Random Attack square, he quickly came up with a new order. "Rook, fall back to here!" Checkmate ordered. Then, the remaining Rook obeyed his order and did just that. Once the Rook stepped on the square, he began spinning. "Uh Oh!" The Lucharangers and Alebrije shouted in fright as they saw that.
Checkmate started laughing. "This is the end for one of you! One thing I forgot to mention, if the random attack lands on the King, it's an automatic Checkmate! And from what I can see, you are in perfect view for that!" Checkmate pointed out. "Oh Sugar Honey Iced Tea!" Carl said in fright. Checkmate started laughing, while everyone else started biting their nails in nervousness as the spinning started to slow down. However, much to Checkmate's horror, the spinning stopped, on him! "Oh No!" Checkmate said in horror while the Lucharangers and Alebrije said "Oh Yes!" in excitement. "I believe this, my friend, is checkmate!" Carl said as the Rook slammed it's fists on Checkmate, breaking the illusion, and freeing all the pieces from his bag, allowing them to return to where they were originally captured. It also caused the seven Lucharangers and Alebrije to return to normal while Carl and Magnifalcougar quickly changed back into LuchaGold in a matter of seconds. "No!" Checkmate said, realizing he lost. "Sorry to disappoint you, Checkmate." Carl said, entering his Supernova mode. "But that's just how the Chess Pieces fly!" He said, rushing over to Checkmate and starting to beat him senseless.
The strength given by Supernova mode allowed Carl to smash Checkmate to pieces before kicking him off the building, causing him to explode upon making contact with the, thankfully bare, sidewalk. "Alright! Way to have Checkmate be hoisted by his own petard!" Sameer said. "Thanks, guys!" Carl said, unmoving. "You're stuck, aren't you?" Ronnie Anne asked. "Unfortunately, yes." Carl said as Checkmate rose up in his Mega Mode. "Don't worry, guys. We'll handle this in LuchaKing!" Ronnie Anne told Carl and Adelaide. "Right! But first! Lucha Power!" Said Laird as he transformed into LuchaYellow. "Alebrije Henkei!" They all shouted, jumping off the building, transforming into their mech forms. "Alebrije Gattai!" They all shouted. "LuchaKing, awaken!" They all shouted as LuchaKing's formation was completed. "You think that oversized toy is going to stop me?!" Checkmate said in annoyance. "We know!" Ronnie Anne said. "Skyring, descend!" They all shouted, summoning the Skyring. "Follow us if you dare!" Sid shouted as LuchaKing flew up into the Skyring.
"Oh, I'll dare!" Said Checkmate as he spread out his bat wings from his back and then flew up into the Sky Ring as well. "Let's see how you handle this!" Checkmate said, summoning one of his Knights, one of his Rooks, and one of his Bishops leftover from the game. "Ha! Bring it on!" Said Casey. "You asked for it! Get them, boys!" Checkmate ordered. Then, the Knight, Rook, and Bishop all charged towards LuchaKing. "Storm Slam!" Ronnie Anne called. LuchaKing then went on top of the ropes before it then jumped off while covered in lightning. It slammed into the Knight, destroying both the Skeletal horse and rider. "Crystal Clothesline!" Nikki declared as LuchaKing looked at the Bishop. LuchaKing then had its left arm coated in pink crystals before it then charged and slammed its left arm onto the Bishop's neck. This destroyed the piece. LuchaKing then glared at the Rook. "Metal Mangle!" Casey called out. With Trisaurus' mouth, LuchaKing tore the Rook to shreds as Checkmate realized the Chess Game had left him without any pieces. "Uh oh." He said nervously as LuchaKing gathered energy in it's weapon. "LuchaSlash!" The Lucharangers shouted, performing it's finisher. Checkmate holding up his staff in a futile effort to protect himself.
Then, the energy slash cut through Checkmate's staff before it then cut through him. "Looks like it's Checkmate for me!" Checkmate declared, falling over and exploding as Laird tossed the lock into his essence cloud. Once its in the cloud, the lock opened up its mouth and then sucked up all of Checkmate's essence into itself before it then closed its mouth and let out a burp in satisfaction. "Ha! Take that, Iracundo!" Adelaide said as Carl fell on his back, the downside of the Supernova mode finally ending. "Whew! About time I can move again!" Said Carl. Back at the base, AkaRed was working on his 'Special Project'. Around him were all kinds of blueprints, including one for a new mecha, and a few new weapons. "There, it's finally ready." AkaRed said, closing a box with unknown contents. "Soul Korin! MagiRed!" AkaRed said, shifting to his MagiRed form. "Now to find out who all of this is for!" He said, casting a spell, creating several windows, each showing a different person, This included Becky, Dodge, Ricky, and Aya, with everyone else being unseen. "So this is everyone who was exposed to the Sacred Power's light." AkaRed surmised. Of course, AkaRed then turned around to notice Kaicerapteryx, who had accidentally wandered into AkaRed's quarters and gasped in shock upon seeing AkaRed and the magic windows. "W-what's going on here?" He asked. "All in due time, my Alebrije friend. All in due time." AkaRed said ominously.
