4 ABY - Tatooine

"Anakin please, Help me!"

"Father no!"

"YOU WILL NOT TAKE HER FROM ME!"

"You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the sith, not join them!"

"I HATE YOU!"

"I LOVE YOU!"

"LIAR!"

"YOU TURNED HER AGAINST ME!"

The breathing of Darth Vader rang through her ears as she slept, her dreams clouded by the torment of her father's fall. Though she wasn't there on Mustafar, she dreamt about it. She felt it, the heat of the flames burned her skin, she felt her father's pain as he lay dying on Mustafar. His screams rang through her ears, her mother pleading for her father to stop as he choked her. She could feel Luke's heartbeat race in the womb, his little body going into distress. She could hear the impact of the blue lightsabers as they clashed so fiercely. She felt Obi Wan's pain. She felt it all and just like that, she was standing in front of her father. Though, it wasn't him. No, it was a man behind a mask, a tall dark figure, black, hooded, fitted with machines, buttons, mechanical breaths. She stood inches away from him as he stood back, watching her. "Father." She whispered. "Leia." He whispered back, though his voice was not the same. "LEIA!" Leia shot up from her dream, she was sweaty, her heart was beating so fast. Running her hand through her hair she stared at the wall and swallowed hard. He knows. Her father knows.

She had found Obi Wan the next day and once more sat on the rocks so they could watch over Luke. "What is the matter?" Obi Wan asked her, feeling it.

"He knows Ben…" She whispered, a slight clench in her jaw. "Anakin knows I'm still alive." She whispered, turning to look at him.

Obi Wan swallowed hard and looked at her before back at Luke. "How can you be so sure?"

Leia paused for a moment, before watching her brother. "Because I let him in. For the first time in 16 years, I let him in and I had no control over it, no way of stopping it. I felt everything, everything from that day on Mustafar. Her pain, your pain, his pain…all of it and I don't know why." She sounded helpless, she needed guidance, she was a child who had to grow up really quick and now, she was lost even at the age of 26.

"It's because you hold the same power as he did." He told her, "You both do."

"No. We are nothing like him." Leia protested.

"You are everything like your father. The man alive today is not who you are. Use what you have for good Leia, use it to finally bring this to an end. It is your destiny." Obi Wan pleaded again. Leia ignored him and watched her brother, he was so happy, he was safe, she felt guilty for this life he had been brought into. Things would have been different if she had to just take care of herself.

"He will come for me now…" She whispered.

"I know." Ben added.

"He cannot find Luke, he cannot." Leia said simply.

The imperial ship

Vader stormed the corridors of the imperial ship, breathing heavily, enraged, a new mission at hand, his fists clenched. He watched through his mask as people parted for him, in fear, though they worked for him. "Lord Vader." His inquisitors said standing up instantly once he had walked into the room.

"The search for the remaining Jedi is no longer a concern, there is a new mission now." He said simply.

"What is it, my lord?"

"Leia Amidala. Bring her to me." He said simply, before walking out.

"Lord Vader, You have sensed the offspring of Anakin Skywalker is still alive." The Emperor said to him as they stood watching the death star.

"She cannot hide from me forever." Vader said simply. He was conflicted, a part of Anakin was relieved his daughter was alive, but the Vader in him was furious. He wanted her to join him. Furious he was led to believe she was dead.

"You are conflicted, Lord Vader." The Emperor added. Vader didn't say anything, just continued to breath heavily as his mind wandered to the little girl he once knew, she was not a little girl anymore. "It would be wise of you to not let these feelings overpower your true nature. The dark side is where you belong, do not make me take everything from you." Hr said simply before walking away. Vader watched him leave and felt anger towards him, he hated his master.

"You already have." He said to himself.

Tatooine

"Who is this scruffy looking guy?" Leia asked Obi Wan, as she stood with him and Luke in the village of Tatooine.

"Who are you calling scruffy looking?!" The guy asked, a little offended.

Leia looked around and then back at him, "You. Even big guy over here is more maintained than you." She said, folding her arms, referring to Chewbacca who was standing behind him. She was defensive, she had not let anyone in for so long and she didn't trust anyone.

"For your information Lady…" The man said moving his hands to his hips, but he was cut off.

"Leia, this is Han, Han Solo. I have hired him to protect you." Obi Wan told her.

"I do not need protection from some scoundrel." She said simply.

Han arched his brow and clenched his jaw, letting out a huff. "Listen old man, we're going to have to increase payment if you expect me to risk my life for some princess." Han said simply, annoyed by her attitude.

"Listen here flyboy, I do not need protection from you. I've done just fine on my own and the only place you will get either of us is dead or worse. I'll have a better chance with the walking carpet." Leia said simply before walking away.

"Where did you pick her up from?!" Han asked Ben rather shocked at her words, but impressed. She was feisty and he liked that.

"Leia!" Luke ran after his older sister, "That wasn't very nice Leia." He said simply catching up to her.

"Well I just don't like him, he's rather annoying and arrogant and cocky and rather vexing." She said simply, turning to him.

"You don't even know him." Luke said softly. Whilst Leia was much like Anakin in her feistiness, Luke was more diplomatic and empathetic, kind and sweet like Padme.

"I don't need to know him and we don't need him Luke. We'll be better off on our own." She said simply.

"You don't know that."

"We've made it this far on our own, we'll be just fine." She said going to walk away again.

"I know you are scared Leia." Luke said simply, causing her to stop in her tracks. "I know I could never understand the sacrifice you have made for me, for us. I could never understand what it is you have been through but running away is not going to fix anything and we can't hide from whoever it is we are hiding from forever." He said simply, Leia had been very quiet about their past, only explaining very briefly and not in much detail. It had been enough for Luke, he trusted Leia and knew she was doing what was best for him but he was older now and it was time he knew.

Leia turned her head slightly, "I am not afraid of anything…except losing you." She said simply. "If I put my faith in someone I do not know and something happens to you, I will never forgive myself." She said simply yet softly.

"Then put your faith into me." He said taking a step forward. "I am not stupid Leia, I know you are hiding something from me, about our parents, about who we truly are. I am not a child anymore and you cannot protect me forever. Whatever it is, whoever it is you are afraid to talk about, I am ready to fight it. I am ready to do what is right…so I am going to go back to Han and Ben. I would really like it if my sister would join me too." He said softly before walking back to them. Leia swallowed hard and felt her eyes well up before watching him walk back.

"Ditched the crazy lady huh kid?" Han asked as Luke walked onto his ship, the Millenium Falcon.

"That crazy lady happens to be my sister." Luke said firmy, defending her.

Han just rolled his eyes, he had no clue why he was even risking his life for this.

"She has been through a lot, she needs time." Ben said softly, watching them.

"We all have." Han added before Chewy growled to him. "Fine, I'll be nice." Han added again.

Leia walked onto the ship, "Is nice even in your nature?!" She asked sarcastically. Luke just looked at her, "Fine, I'll be nice too." Leia added, "But if we're doing this. You are listening to me and following my orders."

"No, this is my ship and I am the one who gives orders around here lady." Han said simply, Luke just rolled his eyes at the two and looked at Chewbacca.

"Fine then, give Ben back his settlement and we will be on our way." Leia said firmly. Han just clenched his jaw as Chewy growled at him some more.

"Don't make me regret this." Han said before closing the ship doors. "Where to?" He asked.

Leia just stared off into space slightly as she thought of her mother. "Naboo.." She said simply, in a whisper as if she wasn't in the room. "Naboo?" Han asked again, a little confused.

"There is something I must do." Leia said simply going to sit down and looked at Luke who was also confused.

"Naboo it is." Han said before setting off.

Leia swallowed hard and looked at Ben who gave her a reassuring look, a look to say 'this was her destiny.'
