4 ABY - Endor

Han twisted his fingers slightly, "She's alright right? Like, you don't think Vader has found her do you?" He asked Chewie nervously. Chewie just growled at him in response.

"I do not like her! I just need to know what we're up against here. Can't use her as bait if she's dead." Han said simply. Chewie just gave him a look. "Alright fine, I may have grown a soft spot for her but that doesn't mean anything. She's still a pain in my ass." He said before walking off and going to the general.

Temple Island, Ahch - To.

"The weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or as random as a blaster. An elegant weapon...for a more civilized age." Ben told them as he showed the siblings his old lightsaber.

"Wow…" Luke whispered out.

"This one was your fathers when he was a Jedi." Ben said again, pulling out Anakin's old lightsaber. Leia closed her eyes the instant she saw it, swallowing hard.

"Don't listen to him, Anakin!"

"It's not the Jedi way! I need him!"

"What have I done?!"

"Execute Order 66."

"Master Skywalker, There are too many of them. What are we going to do?!"

"You were my brother Anakin, I loved you!"

The voices rang through her ears, the visions, memories this lightsaber held. As much as it was used for good, it was the lightsaber that also caused death, pain, sadness and destruction.

"All I sense is hatred." She whispered, "Destruction and despair." She added again, she was in her own thoughts. She was becoming a little bitter, she hadn't smiled in a few days, she seemed sad...all the time so sad.

"It is more good than evil, Leia." Ben said softly. "In the right hands it will redeem itself." He added once more.

"I will construct my own. I will not touch that thing." She said simply before walking away.

Luke swallowed hard and looked to Ben before following Leia.

"Leia! Leia wait up." He called out, catching up to her. "What is going on?" He asked his sister softly.

"I feel so much…hatred." She said simply clenching her fists, "So much anger. It's consuming." She said simply.

"I know, I feel it too." He whispered. "Do you think this is how he felt before he turned?" He asked curiously. Her eyes darted to him.

"We are nothing like him." She said firmly.

"That is not what I said."

Leia paused and looked down, "He seemed…frightened." She whispered out. "Before he turned, he seemed so afraid." She added again.

"And are you afraid?" Luke asked. There was a long pause though.

"No." She said softly, she wasn't lying.

"Neither am I." another pause. "We can do this, Leia. We just need to focus, we can save him. I know it."

"What if we can't?"

"We will. Together we will." Luke told her adamantly. Leia smiled softly.

"You sound so much like her." She whispered, referring to Padme. Luke just smiled.

"Come on, let's get back." he said softly before taking her hand.

That evening after training, Ben had kept Leia back.

"What is it?!" Leia asked softly, confused.

"Additional training, for you and only you." Ben told her.

"Why me?" She asked as she sat next to him in front of the fire.

"Because out of the two of you, it is only you that knows him truly, only you who has a true connection with him." He told her honestly. Leia clenched her jaw.

"So what is it I have to do?"

"The Jedi have something called mind tricks. We use it to manipulate people into getting information, avoiding dangerous or conflicting engagements. We use it only for good, though those fueled by the dark side take advantage of it and use it for their own good." He said softly, Leia just looked into the fire and listened.

"You want me to use them?"

"First I have to teach you, but yes that is exactly what I want you to do." He said with a smile. "If you can get inside your father's mind, show him memories of when you were a child, allow him to see you as the daughter he once knew. Perhaps then the light will force its way back into him."

"But, isn't that taking advantage, Ben?"

"In many ways yes, but in what way does this cause harm?" Ben asked curiously.

"I suppose you are right." She chuckled.

"Close your eyes Leia." He whispered, Leia followed exactly.

"Now what?" She asked impatiently - much like Anakin.

"Just wait." he said with a smile before she could see all of the amazing memories he had with her father when they were younger. It caused her to smile softly, letting a tear fall down her face. She got completely lost in these memories, memories that were not her own but it allowed her to know her father even more, see more clearly the good man he had become.

"Wow." She said, opening her eyes, with a small smile before looking at Ben who's smile faded. "I'm so sorry Ben…you lost him too." She whispered, moving her hand to his back.

"What's done is done. Only now do we have the chance to make a difference." He said softly.

Leia swallowed hard, "I will do whatever I can to bring him back. For you, for mom, for Luke, for himself…I promise you." She said passionately.

The Imperial Ship

He was in his bacta tank, eyes closed as he tapped into his dark thoughts. Though he used the tank to help heal and soothe his life long injuries, he also used it to mediate and relax. It was a break from the torturous suit. He often used his pain to fuel his anger, it was the only way he could keep the darkness controlled, the only way he felt his true powers but occasionally, he felt himself slipping away. Though he would never allow the emperor to know he still longed for his deceased love, thoughts of his wife often made him slip away.

He held onto her face, as her curly brown hair fell down over her shoulders. They stood in the fields of Naboo, unclothed. The heat of the sun warmed their bare skin, their foreheads against one anothers as their lips and noses grazed each other. There didn't need to be words exchanged, their silence expressed their love perfectly - though Anakin never felt it was enough to truly explain the love he had for her. Even after 5 years of marriage he loved her stronger, every day. Laying her down between the long stems of grass, he hovered over her taking in her natural beauty. Taking in every inch of her body, pressing gentle kisses on her collarbone, on her chest and her stomach, her legs, her ankles, her feet, her jawline, her lips all of it. How he could kiss her forever. The sounds that escaped her lips at his touch. He could feel their heart beats race, yet beat in sync as they conceived their sweet Leia. His wife was the most perfect thing in this entire galaxy and she soothed him.

Vader flinched in his tank, from his thoughts as they became interrupted with another memory - but not that of his own. Though he remembered these moments, it was almost as if he was being forced to remember and he had no control over it.

"You are my best friend in the whole entire world, you know that right?" a 7 year old Leia told her dad as she sat on his lap in his pod.

"And you, Leia, are mine." He whispered softly, kissing on her shoulder softly.

"How many moons have you seen?" She asked turning in his lap to face him, he wasn't flying just yet. He had promised her a flight in orbit of Naboo so she could see other planets and systems nearby.

"Many, but nothing of your beauty." He smiled softly. Leia blushed and looked at her father.

"Do you promise to take me to all the beautiful places in the galaxy one day? I wish to see it all, like you have." She said with a smile.

"I promise." He smiled, kissing her cheek.

Vader's eyes burst open from the memory as he cut off the connection. Furious but also he felt something, a tug to the light. No, he couldn't allow it. Why that memory?! Who was controlling this?! He was conflicted - very conflicted which only meant one thing. Pain, anger, hatred…destruction.

Leia had only been practicing, she hadn't realized she had actually gotten through to him. She wouldn't always be able to do it; she would soon learn that, only in Vader's vulnerable moments would she succeed but she got through to him and though she didn't know it only meant one thing, hope.

Hope, victory, success…peace.
