So sorry for the late update, been so busy with work and being a mom!

4 ABY - Tatooine

Leia sat with Han, cleaning his wounds with a wet cloth as Luke and Chewie worked on fixing the ship. They were hiding back in a hut on Tatooine, they knew it probably wasn't the safest place but it was safe enough and one of the only places they could get cheap parts for the Falcon.

"Sorry." Leia whispered softly, seeing him flinch in pain. Han just looked at her, and stared for a little bit actually.

"Don't be.." He whispered back, he hadn't looked at a woman like this in a long time.

"It is my fault you are like this, Vader will hurt anyone that I am close to just to get to me." She said softly, dipping the rag back in the water, looking down slightly.

"It's worth it, Princess." He said with a soft grin.

"Don't call me princess." She whispered, looking up at him. Han grinned to himself slightly and moved his thumb to her cheek, Leia swallowed hard and looked back at him.

"You have the prettiest eyes I have ever seen.." He whispered.

"He must have hit you really hard huh? That doesn't sound like you." She chuckled, going to wipe his bleeding head again but he had stopped her, grabbing her wrist.

"I am being serious." He said softly before kissing her gently.

Leia leaned into the kiss before pulling back out of shock, moving her hand to her lips. "Uhm.."

Han clenched his jaw watching her, they just sat in silence staring at each other without either of them realizing that their faces were leaning in closer and closer together, before they found that their lips were once more attached to one anothers. Han moved his hand to the back of her head and she had her hands on his chest, she had no idea what this feeling was but she was sure it was something like her parents, a love they felt.

Pulling back softly she looked at him, "I have to stop this war and then, then we can live free." She whispered.

"We.." Han corrected, "We have to stop this war."

"This is my mess Han."

"And now it's mine too, besides, I have a better survival rate if I stick with you." He teased, causing him to get jabbed.

Weeks and weeks had passed and Luke and Leia were training every single day, connecting with the force. It was hard without Ben or anyone to guide them really but they did everything they could to prepare because they knew that the next time they would face their father they would have to fight.

She stood, watching the two suns start setting across the sandy plain, she hadn't seen these suns since she was younger and hiding with Luke. Swallowing hard as she debated so much in her head, before feeling her baby brother's presence. Turning her head slightly, she looked at him. They didn't need to exchange words, if their force bond wasn't enough their sibling bond was. Not only was she his older sister but she was practically his mother, she had raised him, they knew each other inside out. "I understand.." Luke whispered softly, looking at his sister. Leia just swallowed hard and hugged him. "I know." was all she whispered back.

That very evening she packed her ship, a ship big enough for only one. It had been silent most of the night, no words exchanged, Luke understood his sister's duty and knew his duty would come - but right now, it was his sister who had to fulfill her destiny, no matter how much he wanted to do this with her.

"Leia.." She heard a voice, turning to see she saw Han standing there. "Why do you insist on doing this alone?" He asked, he didn't want her to go.

"I do not have a choice, Han. This is something I must do. I just know it." She whispered softly, walking up to him and moving her hand to his chest. "It is too difficult to explain, I just.." She stuttered not really knowing how to explain it. He sighed softly, looking at her, his fingers tracing through her hair slightly.

"When I was younger, my father used to tell me that, sometimes we must do what is asked of us and fulfill our duty, no matter how hard it may be." She said softly. "My mother would tell me that to be a great leader is to have the willingness to sacrifice. I never understood them back then, I was just a girl but now, I do." She said softly to him, this was the only way she could explain it. "She could not save him, but I can…and in doing so, I will stop this war. I just know it. If that means I have to sacrifice my life, then that is what I am willing to do…"

"Leia..you can't."

"I am just one person, there is a whole galaxy out there that is looking for guidance. I must go…do not make this harder than it has to be.." She said softly, holding onto his arms.

Han went to speak before biting his tongue and just nodding. She leaned up to kiss his cheek, before going to her ship. She had already said her goodbyes to Luke. "Leia!" Han called back, she looked at him and they shared a look. She smiled softly, he smiled back and they parted ways.

"How are you so calm?" He asked Luke as they watched her ship fly off out of the atmosphere.

"Because she will come home." Luke said with a small smile.

"How do you know, kid?" He asked with a furrowed eyebrow.

"I just do."

Leia sped off into the darkness of space, she knew what she must do. She was focused, she was determined. It was now or never.

"The force is with you, Leia." She heard Ben's voice ring through her head.

"Powerful your father is he, but stronger his daughter, she is." Yoda's voice rang through her head. She had a relationship with all the Jedi - but not as Anakin's daughter, as Padme's. Especially during her time on Coruscant.

Leia closed her eyes as the voices of the Jedi comforted her, she could feel it in her body, this was…incredible.

"It is your destiny, Leia." Qui-Gon's voice. Though she had never met him, it was as if she could sense what he had meant to Ben and Anakin.

"There is still good in him, I feel it." Ashoka's voice, she knew her during her father's time in the clone wars.

"I am with you." Ben's voice.

"I am with you, Leia." The voice of her brother who was meditating and connecting with her through the force. She smiled softly.

"I am with you, my sweet girl…" The voice of her mother. That forced her to open her eyes and she clenched her jaw. It was so empowering, but hearing her mother also fuelled her anger for the Emperor, for everything that had happened. Finding the location of the death star, which was where she sensed her father, she sped off into the distance ready to fulfill her destiny.

She was Leia Amidala-Skywalker, the daughter of Padme Amidala and Anakin Skywalker and she would save her father.
