This I just wrote up because I don't like Tyler and the way his (not compelling at all) romance with Caroline was stretched was just so annoying.
I despise Klaroline, but its still better than Caroline/Tyler at least.
Takes place in 4x19, pretty much no change in the episode, except Tyler doesn't show up, because I said so.
Caroline was sitting in the Lockwood mansion, wondering if Tyler would have somehow showed up at the end after all, just for once.
He hadn't, not that she could blame him. Klaus was still a huge threat to him, so she could understand why he wasn't going to come back, even for her.
His life was more important.
She decided it was best to let it be now, when the door opened. She walked forwards to see not Tyler but-
"Stefan?"
"Hey Caroline", Stefan greeted, shutting the door. Matt had no problem letting him come to the place so Stefan could get in.
"What are you doing here?" Caroline asked, standing in front of him. "And how did it go with Elena?"
"As well as you can expect", Stefan sighed, looking down, then back up at her. "So, he didn't show, huh?"
"I thought he would, but he didn't, not that I can blame him", Caroline said, sounding forlorn and understanding at the same time.
Stefan's hands were behind his back.
"Well, even if Tyler can't make it, I decided you shouldn't be let down on prom", Stefan held up his hands to reveal a bouquet, surprising Caroline. "Here, these are for you."
Caroline was almost too stunned to respond to Stefan's kind gesture, but in a few seconds, she composed herself.
She wasn't getting Tyler, but Stefan…..he was so nice to do this for her, to cheer her up.
"Thank you Stefan", Caroline smiled, taking the bouquet and sniffing it, then keeping it to the side as he held out his hand.
"Caroline Forbes, may I please have this dance?"
She nodded happily, taking his hand in hers, as they started the music, and began dancing, holding hands and swaying their feet.
Caroline had not been in the best mood till now, since her boyfriend wasn't here, even if his reasons were understandable.
But now, with Stefan, her mood just seemed to have been lifted. He had always so nice to her, and helped her through her struggles when she had first been turned into a Vampire.
Damon, maybe he was improving, maybe not, but he was always condescending and annoyingly snarky, plus Caroline still remembered all the things he had done to her on first coming to Mystic Falls.
But Stefan, he was nothing like his brother, he was kind, sweet, romantic, friendly and self-sacrificing to a fault, like Bonnie.
With him, she just felt….free, for a lack of better word. He brought out the best in her, she felt unburdened from the normal pressures of her (un)life with him, and it seemed he felt the same with her.
She had been his friend in his time of need after his breakup with Elena, he had confided in her. There was a healthy level of intimacy between them.
And now, he was here, being there for her when she needed something like that most. Stefan was a hell of a man, and Caroline knew it.
Eventually, they had to stop, and stood inches from each other as Caroline had a genuinely happy smile on her face.
"You know, Elena is still an issue so I'll have to go", Stefan said, but he looked really apologetic and even sad at having to stop this.
"I know, I know, its not a problem", Caroline assured him. Both of their instincts were telling them to just kiss each other already.
But they resisted barely, if only because of Tyler. Instead, Caroline hugged Stefan, and he hugged her back.
"Thank you for the best prom ever, Stefan. Thank you for being there for me."
"You're welcome, Caroline."
They shared a smile, then he nodded and walked out as Caroline watched. While still not exactly in the best of moods, she could confidently say she was cheered up and happy now.
All because of Stefan.
He was a hell of a man.
Stefan walked out the door, shutting it when he saw Klaus appear beside him on the front porch.
"It was quite the joy to make her smile, wasn't it Stefan?" Klaus asked, as Stefan just stared back at him. "To make her dream night come true when her dearly beloved couldn't?"
After a few moments, Stefan finally responded. "It was."
Klaus smirked, as Stefan walked off. While Klaus still had an obsession with Caroline, he knew it wouldn't really work out, considering the opposite sides thing.
Plus his attraction had reduced after she had called Kol's corpse 'this thing', he was a fool to let that slide, affection for Caroline notwithstanding.
Still, he would be better than Tyler, he mused, it wouldn't even be worth the effort.
Yet, Stefan, in spite of being on opposite sides, Klaus respected him, and knew he was someone worth admiring and respecting.
If Klaus was going to approve of someone else for Caroline, it was Stefan Salvatore without any doubt.
Smirking, he walked off back to his own family mansion.
If anyone sounded OOC, I've only started getting into TVD/TO, seen both shows once, mostly liked them.
While I love Steroline and hate Tyler, not a supporter of cheating either, so I stopped them from kissing, even if both are realizing their feelings for each other.
Considering how family-obsessed the Mikaelsons are (even Dominic Toretto ain't got nothing on the Mikaelson family I say), I found Klaus shrugging off Caroline calling Kol's corpse 'this thing' pretty weird.
Plus Caroline was trying to get rid of Klaus with her friends and he tried to kill her 3 times, once after he was supposedly in love with her, so I really can't buy the whole couple thing between them.
