Well phew, it's been a while. This story doesn't seem to want to go, and out of nowhere BAM I had a brainwave, so here is a new chapter for you.
It had been a week since their first meeting and Brooke hadn't heard from Jim once. She was starting to think he had forgotten about their arrangement when she ran into Sebastian.
"Jim wants to see you; he says he has a job for you." The army brat said as he handed her an envelope and walked away.
Brooke turned it over in her hands, examining the elegant writing and posh wax seal before opening the envelope carefully. She could hardly contain her excitement as she read the correspondence enclosed.
Brooke
Meet me in the library at 4, make sure you look super pretty.
Jim
She walked into the library that afternoon, wearing her most girly floral dress and a pair of pink heels, she spotted Jim immediately he sat at a table with his back to her. He turned as soon as he heard her enter and whistled.
"Very good Brooke. Innocent suits you well," He said eyeing her up and down, "This is just what I needed. I have a mark for you. I think we should start small at first, I've found the local drug lord, his name is Aiden Sharp, he deals to the uni. I need you to get close to him, I've got you a job in the café he frequents around the corner."
"A café? You want me to be a waitress, are you kidding?" Brooke said her blood starting to boil, "How the hell is a café going to help?"
"He has a soft spot for his favourite waitresses, that's how he met his first wife. This won't be a quick gig; can you stick around long enough to make this work?"
"Why should I though, I told you I wanted to break crime and all you have planned is a poxy local drug dealer?" The girl, angry about her wasted time, stood to leave, wondering why she had ever thought this was a good idea. James grabbed her arm and pulled her back down.
"This guy is in deeper than you could ever imagine, he has contacts in the international drugs scene. They get together each month, my goal is to get you into that meeting in 3 months' time, from there we can eliminate Sharp and take on his business."
"Why didn't you lead with that one then? Let's get ourselves into the world of drugs." Brooke's countenance had changed completely at Moriarty's news; she was beaming at finally being able to do something.
Jim, seeing the wide range of emotions this girl seemed to possess, was starting to think maybe he could start to feel more again too. He looked across at his new acquaintance wondering what else she could possibly teach him, and smiled; this had been a very good deal.
Thank you for following and I shall hopefully be able to keep a little more regular than before now that the creative juices seem to be flowing.
