Within a two story house lies a girl who is deep in a dream state and dreams about flying high in the sky, when all of the sudden the dream turns into a nightmare as she starts plummeting down towards the ground. She awakens as she hits the floor hard in her basement and in tears. Both of her parents came rushing down the stairs.
"W-what happened were you sleep walking?!?" The girls father said as he and her mother rushed to her and hugged her
"No I fell I just I-I fell through the ceiling!" The girl said as she hugged her mother tightly and was crying in a state of hysteria
Meanwhile with Cerebro...
A screen in Cerebro's room, flashed with the word alert in the X-Mansion appeared
"Discovery mutant signature the second detection in this vicinity, extrapolation complete. Identity confirmed, name, Kitty Pryde, residence, Northbrook, age, 15." a computerized voice said as Xavier took off the helmet and put it back on the desk with the computer.
Back at Kitty Pryde's house...
"Oh dear I am sure you were just having a nightmare." Kitty's mom said as she stroked her hair to calm her down
"I... Don't think so." Kitty's dad said as he stood up and looked at the ceiling where her blankets and sheets were half way through the ceiling
Bayville High before school started...
Kurt runs to school as he eats a breakfast burger and then looks down at his watch
"Ah, late again!" Kurt says as he looks to make sure no one is watching and then teleports right next to the entrance so he can sneak in only to bump into the principal
"Miss Darkhölme!" Kurt says as she takes his hand and looks at his watch
"Hmmm watch isn't slow, must be you, another tardy Mr. Wagner and I'm enrolling you in my after school group." She said as he swallowed his food
"Hey, teacher sent me to look for you, Miss Darkhölme." Markus said as he grabbed Kurt's hand and dragged him into the building and looked at her and nodded
"Stopped off for another breakfast burger gut bomb?" Markus said to Kurt as they walked into the school together
"What can I say, it's an addiction." Kurt said with a little laugh
Back at Kitty's Pryde's house...
Kitty sneaks down the stairs and makes it to the door only to be caught right as she opens it by her mother
"Dear? I thought we agreed you were staying home today." Kitty's mom said as Kitty shut the door with a grunt
"Yeah well like what's the point you know, you guys don't want to talk about it and I'd, like, totally go crazy sitting around here!" Kitty said with a hair flip
"But should you really be at school?" Kitty's mom asked with concern
"Kitty! Honey, where are you?" Kitty's dad yelled from across the house but sounded worried
"Please mom, dad 'll make me stay." Kitty said pleading with her words as her mom thought for a bit
"Alright go on." Her mom said giving in to Kitty, Kitty then blew her a kiss and waved goodbye as she ran out the door on her way to school as her mom stood there very worried
Meanwhile...
On a private jet sat Jean in the passenger's seat, Markus in the back and Xavier driving.
"Why just me and Markus and not all of us?" Jean said feeling a little uneasy about the situation
"Because you're the one who can connect with this girl, and Markus so that maybe you can learn a thing or two from Jean, but from a view we don't want too many people there on why we talk about such a sensitive thing like this." Xavier explained to the pair of them
"Huh I hope so, but then how are we handling the other kid Cerebro spyked on, the one in the foster home?" Jean said as she looked Xavier
"Yes Lance Alvers let me worry about that, I'd like you to just keep yourself focused on Kitty's parents, remember you're a model of what we're offering them, no pressure." Xavier said as he realized that might psyche her out a bit
"Hehehe and to think I passed up a nice relaxing midterm for this." Jean said as she looked out the window, while Markus was texting a very good friend
Later at Kitty's house...
"What are you talking about? How do you know Kitty?" Kitty's mom said confused on where these people even came from
"Please may we come in for a moment? We'll answer all your questions and anything you'll need." Jean said in the most friendly voice she could muster
"Please excuse me, miss you can talk to us out here." Kitty's dad said feeling insulted that these people thought they could just show up and come in
"Very well eh I think you know Kitty is going through a very unique transition, we simply want to help her through it. Why don't you tell us about last night." Xavier said to her parents as both their mouths dropped open
"What happened last night is none of your business! Please just leave us alone." Kitty's dad said as he and his wife walked back into their house and shut the door
"Huh next time let's just call and get hung up on… Less hassle." Jean said to Xavier as she crossed her arms
"You will need to make contact with Kitty directly at her school." Xavier said to Jean unphased by her sarcasm
In front of the X-Mansion...
Logan notices another bike from not too far away and immediately recognizes the sent as he was cleaning his motorcycle
"Sabertooth..." Logan said as he stood up
"Wolverine..." Sabertooth said from his motorcycle which was still a way out almost like they were talking to each other. As he heard Sabertooth nearby, he started to put on his wolverine costume so that he was ready for a fight. He then put on his bike helmet and started to drive closer to Sabertooth passing both Scott and Kurt on his way out.
"What's up with Logan?" Kurt said as Logan raced away on his bike
"Woah, that man is packing some serious attitude." Scott said as he looked at the dust trail that used to be Logan
"Wanna follow him?" Kurt said with a smile on his face
"Let's go!" Scott said as they ran to the garage
"Should we take the X-Van?" Kurt said as he pointed to the big bulky black van
"Uuuuh a lower profile I think, and cooler besides." Scott said as he ran over to his sweet ride and started the engine.
"You coming?" he then said as he looked at Kurt who immediately teleported into the passenger's seat
"Hit it!" Kurt said as he put his arm up on the chair and Scott hit the gas pedal
At Kitty's highschool...
As Kitty opened her locker and put her books in so she could grab her books for her next class two girls noticed her
"Hey Riley check out the Kitty pity party." One of the two girls said as she pointed to Kitty
"Ehehehe getting P.E no doubt, probably the only class she's not acing." The other girl said back
"Let's give her some time off." The first girl said as they both started nearing and then pushed Kitty in her locker and shut the door and made sure it was locked.
"World closing in on ya Kitty?" The first girl said as she laughed
"Hey let me out you jerks eeeeeehhhh open this door SOMEBODY OPEN THIS DOOR!" Kitty screamed as she banged on the door hopelessly before she finally gave up
A boy from her school maybe a year or two older than her started walking down the hall while whistling with a can of red spray paint and using it on the lockers
"Huh hey who's out there can ya hear me let me ouuut!" Kitty started screaming again and banging on the door but completely phases through it and landing on the boy
"Hey you see what you just did?" He said to her as he stood up and had red paint sprayed completely across his nose
"What I-I-I like just fell out." Kitty said trying to hide the fact that she fell through the door
"Yeah man right through the door that is so cool." He said amazed at what she did
"Eh uh you're crazy!" Kitty said as she started running away only to be pulled back by him
"No no wait a minute I'm the one guy around here who gets the beauty of it cause you're just like me, really. Alright then check this." He said as started moving the earth around him and making it feel like an earthquake but exhausting him after only a few seconds.
"Getting the picture?" He said as he looked up at her
"No, you're just like some freak!" Kitty said as he grabbed her arm again. "LEAVE ME ALONE!" Kitty said as she broke free of his grasp and ran away
"You can run but you can't hide cause I'm gonna rock your world." He said as he watched Kitty run away crying
On the school field...
"Hey Amy check who got out?" The second girl from earlier said to the other as Kitty ran over to the field in sweatpants
"Pryde your late." Her coach said as she blew her whistle
"Sorry coach, I was like um, having trouble with my locker." She said as she then looked over to the two girls who pushed her into her locker
"Alright you three to the long jump, Pryde your tardy so your first." She said to Kitty
Meanwhile on top of the school building...
"Shut up with the clogging around!" The first boy said to the other
"Stop it Griff! Can we bust in here or not?" He said to the other boy as he elbowed him and he started to rub his elbow
"Nope, it's wired into the alarm system." Griff said as he pointed to it
"Now what Alvers, we got like no way into the stinken office and midterms start in the morning." The second boy said to the same person that was with Kitty just earlier
"Yeah and exam answers ain't exactly gonna catch a fine price after the test. Can't ya just you know make a door." Thw first boy said to Alvers
"Sure and have them know we were in, they'll change the tests. I got a sweeter idea… Her." Alvers says as he looks down at the field where Kitty is standing
"What? Wait, are you gonna have her long jump through the wall, C'mon get serious." The first boy said with a laugh
"You ridin me Griff huh are ya." Alvers said as he painfully gripped Griffs wrist and the whole building started shaking
"Sorry man I wa-a-as just." Griff tried say when the other boy got in between them
"Woah woah it's cool Lance." The other boy said as he grabbed Lance's hand as he tried to loosen his grip on Griff
"You two losers just line up the customers, I'll snatch the answers." Lance said as he watched Kitty fall face first in the long jump
"Raauuur Kitty kats got a temper." The first girl said as she made fun of Kitty throwing a fit in the sand
"Take notes Pryde, this is how athletes do it." the second girl said as she walked up to the long jump and started getting ready. She started running at full speed when Lance started using his powers from the top of the building. The ground started cracking in a line where he led it until it reached the long jump and a geyser of sand burst out of the ground and lifted her into the air and then back on the ground burying everything except her face
"Huh." Kitty said as she then looked at the building and saw Lance waving at her so she started to run away. She bumped head first into Jean looked but just continued to run into the building, not even knowing who she was but she did not care.
Kitty ran into the theater room and onto the stage and then kicked the chair with a loud grunt and tried to sit on the table but it just fell and took her down with it. She tried to catch the fake fruit bowl that was on the table but when she tried her hands phased right through it. She then bent down on her knees and touched the bowl but this time did not phase through it. Kitty concentrated as hard as she could and tried phasing her hand through the bowl which she did but immediately took it out when she heard someone call her name
"Kitty! Kitty are you alright?" Jean said as she walked into the theater room
"That ra ra riley a friend of yours, cause you know like I had nothing to do with what happened out there in the sand pit." Kitty said as she picked up the mask that was hanging on the wall
"I know and I'm not Riley's friend." Jean said as she finally reached the stage
"Well you look like you'd be her friend." Kitty said as she held the mask to her face
"Kitty, look, there's no need for masks, I know what's going on." Jean said trying to be nice
"YOU LIKE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING AND NEITHER DOES THAT CREEPY GUY OUT THERE!" Kitty yelled as she took the mask away from her face
"Who's Lance? Forget about him, this is about you, you and your wonderful new gift." Jean said as she leaned against the table Kitty tried to earlier
"Uuch I don't have any gifts, just a curse." Kitty said as she looked down
"Only if you let it be, I'd like to help you understand it together with us." Jean was saying to Kitty before she got interrupted
"Look I-I don't want any of this, it's like just hard enough being normal ya know!" Kitty yelled being quite frustrated
"Kitty look, I want you to watch me for a second please." Jean said, resorting to the last thing she could think of. Kitty then looked up at Jean who lifted her hand and furrowed her brow which confused Kitty as when she did the mask that Kitty was holding was now in the air and being moved back to the wall.
"How'd ya do that?" Kitty said as Jean walked a bit closer
"Same way you can pass through walls, just like you one morning I woke up and I had this power trust me I hated it too." Jean said as she put her hand on Kitty's shoulder
"I-I don't believe you, this is a trick!" Kitty said as she knocked Jeans hand off her shoulder
"No... no you do believe me I know because of my other ability, I can read your thoughts." Jean said looking at Kitty hoping it would not freak her out which it did
"Noo stay out of my head... NOOO!" Kitty said as she was rocking her head in her hands before she just through them off and ran out of the theater
"Kitty, wait!" Jean said as she reached for her
"Piece of advice, I'm the only friend that girls is gonna need and I'll be teaching her what's what so you just back yourself off." Lance said as he pushed Jean out of his way
Back with Kitty...
Afterwards, she changed out of her gym clothes and was booking some books in her locker. Lance started to walk up behind her and tapped her shoulder. When she saw him she dropped her books and got in a fighting position.
"Easy I won't shake things up uh I promise, I'm uh my names Lance we should really talk." He said to her as he picked up her books and handed them to her
"Why can't everyone just, like, leave me alone!" Kitty said as she grabbed her books from him and slammed shut her locker
"You feel sick inside every time you think about it don't you, you want it to go away but it won't, you're afraid of what might happen, your parents are clueless probably ashamed and being alone don't help." Lance said to her everything that he had felt when it started happening to him to try and swoon her to his side
"What are you like reading my mind too?!?" Kitty said as she swung her head around
"No way! It's just that I've been going through it myself, you know trying to figure it out, but I've learned how to control it. Meet me outside the office in an hour and I'll show you how." Lance said as he saw Kitty walk away
Xavier exits a building while he is on the phone with Jean...
"Sounds like Lance could be trouble if he bonds with Kitty we may not be able to reach her." Xavier explains to Jean
"I agree and he is reaching her." Jean said as she sat on a bench with Markus next to her
"You have to stay with it, Jean. I don't want to lose her, whatever obstacles get in the way remember they can be overcome Xavier out." Xavier said as he hung up the phone.
"Though some obstacles are more irritating than others."
Outside a parking garage...
Scott and Kurt arrived before stopping the car
"Ah I've lost him." Kurt said as he hit the car
"Hey hey, watch the new door panel, they are smudge resistant, not dent resistant." Scott said with worry about his baby
"There!" Kurt said as he pointed up to Wolverine standing on top of the parking garage and looking around.
Sabortooth then crashed through part of the garage and landed next to Wolverine making him jump away to avoid getting crushed by Sabertooths bike.
"Unfinished business runt." Sabertooth said to Wolverine as he revved the engine of the bike
"Bring it on pops." Wolverine said as he had all of the blades come out of his knuckles.
Sabertooth started racing towards Wolverine and Wolverine did not move out of the way until the last moment when at the same time he sliced off the front wheel of Sabertooths bike making him crash over the side of the parking garage. Sabertooth grabbed onto the side of the building, letting the bike fall, Scott's car was in the way of the falling bike so Kurt took a hold of Scott and teleported them both away leaving the bike to destroy the car.
"My car." Scott said as he looked at his beautiful car in pieces.
While Sabertooth was on the bottom floor of the parking garage he started picking up cars and throwing them up through the floors at Wolverine making him fall to the bottom floor as well. While Wolverine was standing up Sabertooth picked up one of the cars and rammed it into Wolverine pinning him to a pillar
"One shall fall by the other's hand out of destiny we-." Sabertooth was saying before he got interrupted by Wolverine
"I didn't know you went for the philosophy mumbo jumbo." Wolverine said as he tried his hardest to push the car off him which Sabertooth was still pushing into him
"Hey hairball I got your destiny right here." Cyclops said as he pressed a button on the side of his eyepiece, then the red beam came out and shot Sabertooth, launching him away from Wolverine and into another car giving Wolverine enough time to push the car off him. Nightcrawler then teleported straight into Sabertooths chest which he bounced off of.
"Uh typical." Nightcrawler said as he landed on the hard ground and Sabertooth started walking up to him looking like he was ready to tear him to shreds before Wolverine tackled him to the ground they slid into the elevator as Sabertooth kicked Wolverine off of him as the door shut, leaving only Sabertooth in the elevator. Wolverine then ran over to the door as it shut and using his claws destroyed it but not in time to catch Sabertooth.
"A taste of things to come Wolverine." Sabertooth said as the elevator fell
"Heh we showed him we are the X-Men!" Nightcrawler said as he crossed his arms and nodded his head
"I don't fight your battles so don't fight mine." Wolverine said as he walked away from them
"Ah he loves us." Nightcrawler said to Cyclops with a smile
"Oh yeah big time." Cyclops said as he folded his arms and watched Wolverine walk away
Back at Kitty's school...
"H-H-How do you take control?" Kitty said as she walked up to him as he stood behind one of the school buildings
"By admitting something no one wants to cop too, that we are outsiders that there is something wrong with us." Lance said as Kitty started looking down at the ground with shame
"Hey don't fret it, embrace it, the way I see it fate delt us win cards if we play them together." He said lifting her chin to look at him
"Nothing is making any sense." Kitty said as she turned around and took a few steps
"That's why I'm here to light your path, and the first step leads us right into that office." Lance said to Kitty as he pointed to the wall of the school. Kitty then phased through the wall into the office and was so happy she practically jumped to the door to let Lance in.
"Did ya see me? Did you?" Kitty said with so much cheer in her voice
"Yeah wow Kitty how did it feel?" Lance said to her as she jumped around in victory
"Oh it was, like, totally unbelievable!" Kitty said as she hugged him
"You're making it yours Kitty, once you own it nothing can own you." Lance said as Kitty looked up and smiled at him
Outside the school...
Kitty's parents ran up to Xavier, Jean, and Markus.
"Where is she?!?" Kitty's dad said with worry lacing his voice
"She broke into the office." Jean informed them
"She- she's never done anything like this before!" Kitty's mom said on the brink of tears
"Go with them you two I'll catch up!" Xavier said motioning to Jean and Markus as they all ran in the school
Back in the office...
"Haha test answers present and accounted for." Lance said as he burned a drive with the answers on it off
"That's what this is about... Cheating?!?" Kitty said feeling betrayed
"Hey this crummy school uses these kinda tests to keep us down Kitty no more we take control!" Lance said as he pocketed the answers.
"Now let's modify some grades, Pryde P R." Lance started typing on the computer
"NO!" Kitty said grabbing his hands but as she did that he stood up and took both her hands in a painful grip
"Look there's no victim here, we're just evening the score." Lance said as he let go of her hands
"It doesn't feel right I-I've changed my mind I want to go!" Kitty said as she turned around and headed for the door
"Woah woah what are ya doing c'mon Kitty." Lance said as he grabbed her hand again and pulled her closer
"Let go of my daughter!" Kitty's dad said as he, her mom, Jean, and Markus barged in and he started to charge after Lance
"Far enough old man." Lance said as he used his power to shake the room and a bookshelf came tumbling down of him
"NO STOP!" Kitty screamed trying to keep her family safe
"They're just gonna confuse you Kitty, we're out of here." Lance said as he pulled Kitty toward the wall and destroyed it with his powers
"Kitty, please we can work through this together!" Kitty's mom said as she got closer
"LET GO OF ME!" Kitty said as Lance still held a firm grip on her arm
"We're in control now, we make our own way." Lance said as he grabbed both her arms
"Kitty I pushed you to this. I know I wanted to pretend nothing was wrong, I'm not perfect, I'm learning just like you are." Kitty's dad said as Jean lifted the book shelf off of him and Kitty's mom helped him up
"Daddy." Kitty said as tears started streaming out of her eyes
"Forget them c'mon I'm bringing this place down." Lance said as more of the building started to collapse but Jean and Markus kept the debris from falling on them as Jean and Markus used their telekinesis
"You called your gift a curse. If you go with him I guarantee you it will be." Jean said as she continued to hold off the falling building with Markus
"Please Kitty listen to her!" Kitty's mom said with pleading in her voice
"Sweetheart we love you!" Kitty's dad said in the most sincere loving voice
"It's too late your with me now!" Lance said as he pulled her with him to his newly made door
"NO I'M NOT!" Kitty said as she phased her hand through his and ran toward her parents but he got so angry that he used his power to bring the building down on top of her and then ran away
"Jean, use your powers!" He said to the both of them hoping they would make it out of there alive
"We're trying, it's too much even with the two of us." Jean said with pain in her voice as well
"I will assist you but keep your mind clear." Xaviar said trying to keep the pair calm
"But Kitty!" Jean said to him
"Keep your mind clear!" Xaviar repeated to them through their struggle
"No Kitty." Kitty's mom said her voice laced with dread
"Our little girl." Kitty's dad said as he looked at his wife and hugged her. Kitty then phased through the huge boulder on top of her with a look of excitement
"Woah." was the first thing Kitty said after surviving something like that
"Kitty." Was the only thing her mom could say when she saw that her baby girl was alive, Kitty then ran and hugged them both
"Okay like everybody grab onto me I'll get us out." Kitty said to the four of them with confidence. Xavier watched as the group of five ran through the debris and returned safely
"Yes Kitty, it is a gift and you've used it well." Xaviar said to Kitty with a smile
"Mom I'm so sorry and daddy these people they like want to help me I trust them." Kitty said to her parents finally feeling happy
"I know sweety and so do I. Professor I think we have some things to talk about." Kitty's dad said
"Yes we do." Xavier said with Jean and Markus standing behind him
In the forest overlooking the school...
Lance watched as fire trucks, police cars, and ambulances showed up but then started to walk away.
"I'd say you've blown your chances at this school haven't you." Mystique said as she showed up out of nowhere
"And you are?" Lance said very confused
"Your new advisor, I've made an opening for you at Bayville High, I have much to teach you, my young Avalanche." Mystique said as she turned into her original form that was blue, smirking
