At a lone house there was a party with a bunch of high schoolers, alone outside stood a girl with brunette hair white bangs and a green mesh top. Two of the people from the party walked outside and noticed her alone.
"Party snatcher, that's the only explanation man. My good buddy Cody's now a pod person gone in an evening from bad to sad." The first of the two boys said to other whose name seemed to be Cody
"Oh come on I'm just you know picking my moment taking it slow." Cody said as he started to get cold feet
"Cody, move faster there she is the girl you've been staring at all week please tell me you at least know her name." He said to Cody as Cody shrugged his shoulders.
"You Lame-o this ends now come on."
"Hmm can I help you?" The mysterious girl said as she turned around
"Uh dance I-I mean would you like too with me that is together." Cody said as he blew it
"I'm really just hanging out here and I--" She started to say as she looked at how sad he got.
" Why not, after all, where's the harm in one dance." She said as the three of them then walked back in
At a house not too far away...
A woman with dark sunglasses sat in a rocking chair when all of the sudden she started seeing images of the girl in trouble
"No, don't touch him! Oh my dear child!" The strange woman said
Back at the party...
"Get closer, make your move on her." The first boy said to Cody as they all danced together and and then pushed Cody into the girl he was dancing with
"Hey I'm sorry." Cody said as he went to help her up and touched the only part of her skin showing other than her face which was her wrist and they both started screaming and he passed out, she then started getting vivid memories of his
"My head uh these images what's happening to me? What am I? Who am I?" She said as she stood up and nothing was seeming clear
"Cody, CODY WHAT'S WRONG, WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM!" The boy from earlier said as he tried shaking Cody awake but then turned to the girl and yelled.
She started to run away crying so he ran in front of the door to block her path. She then got a memory of someone doing football and pushing the other out of the way so she did just that to get out of there.
"I thought only Cody had moves like that?" He said as he watched her run away
Back at the house with the strange woman...
"That's not what I said, I see pathways, probabilities, I predicted what form her powers would take not when they would manifest… Yet I did take precautions, the phony skin condition, the way she dressed, but she's a teenage girl and I couldn't keep her in isolation... Of course you're coming, and Xavier's team, they're coming too." The woman from earlier informed someone over the phone about what had happened
At the X-Mansion during a training session...
"Impressive you got past the automated defenses by using the air vents, BUT YOU WON'T GET PAST ME!" Storm says as she jumps out, using her powers, blows wind at Logan but before he gets hit with it he jumps back into the vents and starts crawling again.
"Testing me hmmm, alright then it's time you remembered why they call me Storm!" Storm says as she summons a huge storm over the mansion and has rain pour into the chimney flushing Logan out of the ventilation system and into the danger room.
"Look a little flushed and the forecast isn't good." Storm says from the control room of the Danger Room as he then jumps up to get in there but she freezes him before he can.
"Now that was cold." Logan says as he breaks free of the ice
"Then let's warm you up." Storm says as she presses a button which activates a laser gun which Logan proceeds to try and destroy by putting his claws into the gun but instead ended up getting electrocuted and thrown across the room
"Gotta commit first got any other party tricks?" Logan says as he looks behind him and something starts spinning but before it can do anything Logan uses his claws to rip into the wiring.
"STOP, it is at the moment as much as we can afford Wolverine." Xavier says from the room as well
"Hey when I give a demo I give a demo." Logan says as he rips off his black mask
"Was that demo as in demolish or demonstration what was the point?" Scott said looking up at Storm, Jean, Markus, Kurt, and Kitty
"The point young Cyclops was to teach you something about finding the weak points in sophisticated security systems." Ororo said as she turned around to face him and started walking closer
"That's right bub and I'd say ours needs a little work." Logan said as he walked in and was already completely changed
"That was tight so I gave it two thumbs up." Kurt said as he hung upside down from the ceiling while eating popcorn
"The vents were pretty easily breached, gonna need to fix that, maybe electrify them or install poison gas sprayers." Logan said as they watched the tape of him breaking in
"Wolverine..." Storm said while she just looked at him with a how much does it look like we want to kill our intruders kinda look
"All right all right knock out gas then." Logan said feeling like that was completely fair
"Is it just me or is anyone else, like, seriously freaked by this, oh right it's just me great." Kitty said still not really used to all this
"Relax Kitty you'll be fine we are right beside you, popcorn, oops sorry next time I'll honk before I port." Kurt said as he teleported to either side of her and then stood up
"Whatever... Look guys it's late if it's no biggie to you Imma, like, drop out." Kitty said as she phased through the floor and out of the room
"Ah she's fully not into the fuzzy dude, not that I really blame her." Kurt said as Jean walked up beside him and put her hand on his shoulder
"She just needs time, Kurt, she'll come around." Jean said which seemed to make him a little bit happier
"X-Men we have an emergency, Scott get the blackbird prep for launch and since it's a weekend assemble the full team." Xavier said as he came up the elevator
"Yes sir what's the mission?" Scott said to Xavier ready to roll
"Cerebro has detected a new mutant in Caldecott County Mississippi. My mental impression from the scene indicates a highly disturbed individual, our mutant is a danger to herself and possibly others as well. X-Men we have a Rogue." Xavier explains to the team
Later one the Blackbird...
"Stealth mode stable leveling off at 10,000 feet." Nightcrawler said a he steered the jet
"Steady, now hold it right there aaaaand you've got it nice job Kurt you'll make a pilot yet." Cyclops said as he smiled at Nightcrawler
"Heh thanks." Nightcrawler said as he laid back and started steering with his feet
"Or maybe not. I've logged our flight plan with the FAA, cleared through to Jackson we'll take the van from there." Scott explained as he looked in the back
"Good, you're picking up logistics quickly, Scott." Xavier said with a smile
"Scott seems so, like, together so cool and he's kinda cute." Shadowcat said to Jean as she stared at him from the back of the jet
"Cute, uh stiff, maybe exacting definitely but hmmmm you know from a certain angle." Jean said as Kurt teleports onto the top of the jet leaving Scott dumbfounded as Kurt was steering the jet. Kurt then started falling forward so in a last attempt to catch himself he teleported back inside the jet but landed on Kitty.
"Kurt, the Blackbird is not a place to be fooling around, you frightened Kitty." Xavier said scolding Kurt
"Sorry Kitty." Nightcrawler said feeling bad
"Just, like, stay away from me!" Kitty said as she stood up and went to the front to sit with Scott
"Kids." Wolverine said as Kitty walked by him
At a nearby airport...
A private jet lands next to a black car and Mystique comes out in her principal form and walks to the car and gets in the back seat with the woman from earlier.
"You made good time Raven." The woman says to Mystique
"Our organization's mysterious founder has certain resources, Irene." Mystique says as she changes into her blue form.
"WHAT HAPPENED?!?!, I left the girl in what I thought was your safekeeping!" She said with a stern voice
"At the school dance her powers manifested and she accidently made physical contact with a local boy." Irene explained what had happened to Mystique
"Absorbing his memories and physical abilities, wonderful, we keep her hidden away in this backwater for the better part of five years and in five minutes it all falls apart we cannot lose her, especially not to Xavier, she possesses the potential for limitless power, you can see the future Irene, where will she go?" Mystique finished with the question that plagued her
"Home or what she thinks is home." Irene stated in a sad voice
Meanwhile outside of Cody's house...
Rogue gets to the door and finds it locked but immediately remembers where the spare key is.
Outside of the local hospital...
Wolverine, Xavier, Nightcrawler, Shadowcat, and Markus sat in a van outside of the hospital.
"Is this really necessary?" Wolverine said with his mask pulled down
"Yes Logan the boy Cody is the key to finding our Rogue but he's unconscious and his mind is elusive, to isolate his memory patterns I need someone on the inside." Xavier explained to Logan as something else happened in the hospital
"He'll be okay right? You'll help him?" Cody's friend from earlier asked as Jean dressed in a nurse outfit walked in
"Yes we will." Jean said as she put her hand on his forehead letting Xavier get into his head to track where Rogue went
Back at Cody's house...
"Now what? You won't hurt her will you? After all Raven she's your-" Irene started before Mystique interrupted
"I know Irene, I know she will come to us willingly given the right incentive." Mystique said as she changed her form to look like Wolverine
Inside Cody's house...
"All this is me... mine." Rogue said as she put down the picture book she was looking at and walked over to the mirror which had a dresser in front of it with all of Cody's trophies on it.
"But which one am I?" Rogue said as she then knocked over all of the trophies on the dresser and then looked over to see Mystique disguised as Wolverine standing there ready to attack.
"Who are you, what do you want?" Rogue said terrified
"You girlie... I want you." Mystique said as she ran as Rogue in the form of Wolverine but missed and jumped at the closet breaking the door in the process.
"Stand still you and make it quick, you're dealing with the X-Men now and you ain't got a chance." She said to Rogue successfully scaring her
"X-Men? I don't understand, I JUST WANT YOU TO LEAVE ME ALONE!" Rogue said as she picked up a big piece of wood that came from the door and ran at her as she hit her with the wook breaking it and running away
"One more turn of the school and you will come running into my arms." Mystique said as she landed turned back into herself but then as she stood up turned into Storm
An alley near Cody's house...
"So does this, like, bite or what?" Shadowcat said as she, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Markus walked down the alleyway
"Chuck says the girl's mind is confused and difficult to pinpoint so keep looking." Wolverine said as he caught a scent
"Vas got a scent?" Nightcralwer said as he looked at Wolverine sniffing the air
"Yeah I smell fear." Wolverine stated knowing who it was coming from and where to go now
In Cody's backyard...
Rogue ran to the fence and started to climb over it but when she was at the top Mystique caught up to her.
"One well placed lightning bolt, one X mutant." Mystique said as she threw something at Rogue causing an explosion and Rogue to fall off the fence and into the next yard where Irene stood ready for her
"Rogue it's me Irene, try and remember." Irene said trying to trigger some of Rogues memories
"Uh who, wait Irene yes but I'm so confused, strange thoughts in my head, and people chasing me." Rogue said as more images of these people chasing her flashed through her eyes
"Easy easy honey the police are coming the X-Men will not risk a confrontation." Irene said as she offered her hand to Rogue to help her up
"The X-Men?" Rogue said confused and scared
"Yes, mutant hunters, now hurry I have a friend who can help you, I'll take you to her." Irene said as Rogue finally took her hand and got off the ground
"I don't know all this is happening so fast I don't know-" Rogue said as she then looked over and saw Wolverine, Shadowcat, Nightcrawler, and Markus running in her direction.
"It's him, the one who attacked me, Irene run!" Rogue said as she started running as fast as she could
"That's gotta be her." Wolverine said as they ran after her
"PLEASE LEAVE ME BE!" Rogue said as she jumped another fence
"Wait wait, she seems to be terrified of you, let me and Markus try." Nightcrawler said to Wolverine as he stopped him from running her down again
"Alright kid, just don't mess up capish." Wolverine said as he looked between Markus and Nightcrawler
"Yes sir." Nightcrawler said as he saluted him
"We won't let you down." Markus said as he followed Nightcrawler
"I'll go find the prof and kids, put on your best faces." Wolverine said to them hoping he was not making the wrong choice and they both gave him a thumbs up.
"No sense freaking the poor kid out more than she already is and keep an eye on the half pint here." Wolverine said as Shadowcat ran by to go and help
"Heey." Shadowcat said in an annoyed voice as she looked back at him
Nightcrawler then teleported with Markus to the backyard that Rogue was currently in, him sitting in a swing while Markus stood by a tree ready for Nightcrawler to do something stupid
"Gutenberg Fraulein!" Kurt said as he swung from the tree in his human looking form.
"Please don't be frightened." Kurt said as he teleported closer to her
"What do you want?" Rogue said as she backed away slowly
"To help you we're the good guys especially me and I guess my friend Markus right here." Kurt said as he tried to calm her down
"Yeah we won't hurt you I promise." Markus said
"Ha right I'll show him." Shadowcat said as she phased through the fence sneaking up on them
"I was like you once, alone, unsure of what I was, afraid to show my face, can you believe it?" Kurt said as he flung his hair
"She does not look so tough to me." Shadowcat said as she got ready to pounce
"KITTY NO!" Kurt yelled but was too late
As Shadowcat jumped and they both tumbled to the ground. In doing that it triggered one of Cody's memories of him in wrestling. Using this knowledge Rogue threw Shadowcat off of her and Kurt and Markus ran over and tried to hold her still. In trying to escape, Rogue ended up hitting Kurt's watch which turned off the disguise and brought him back to his blue self. When she saw him she freaked and pushed both Nightcrawler and Markus away touching both their faces. Nightcrawler passed out because she took his powers and energy temporarily but Markus was not affected which left Rogue dumbfounded but happy because she now knew that there was at least one person who was immune to her. She teleported away not knowing how.
"NIGHTCRAWLER NIGHTCRAWLER, KURT... KURT!" Shadowcat yelled hoping that she would be able to wake him up
Rogue then teleported to a nearby cemetery
"What just happened? Where am I? ich spreche Deutsch? I can speak German? The fuzzy one Kurt I am him like I was Cody I think I'm catching on now, but how did I-." Rogue said as she teleported over to the destination that she was staring at.
"How come I did not take Markus's powers?" She started to ponder as she teleported around some more. "When is this all gonna end..." Rogue said as she started to feel defeated
Back with Nightcrawler and Shadowcat...
"Say something, Kurt, please! Tease me, scare me, anything! Oh, please don't be dead. C'mon Kitty, what would Wolverine do? I mean, besides dice up half the landscape, wait, the professor can read minds, right? Maybe he can hear my thoughts." Shadowcat said as she sat on the ground with Nightcrawler and tried to reach out to Xavier
"Odd the trail seems to have gone suddenly cold, I can no longer read Cody's brain wave patterns." Xavier said to Jean, Cyclops, and Storm
"But if he's gone then-"Jean started before Xavier stopped and her and continued
"Then it may simply mean that the effect of transference is temporary. Our problem now is how to find the girl." Xavier said as he moved around a bit
"Try about ten gardens due west, Kurt and Markus tryna keep her from bolting." Wolverine explained as he came from one of the other lawns
"Then we must-" Xavier said before he was interrupted by someone yelling in his mind
"PROFESSOR PROFESSOR!" Kitty yelled to Xavier in a very panicked voice
"Kitty, Kitty not so loud, slowly please order your thoughts." Xavier started out loud but then changed to talking telepathically and tried to soothe the panicked young girl
"It's Kurt she hurt him she did something to him!" Shadowcat said to Xavier as she slowed down a bit
"Stay where you are Kitty help is on the way!" Xavier said to Kitty before turning to Wolverine.
"Wolverine it's Nightcrawler, the Rogue has his mind and his abilities." Xavier explained
"Hmmm, it's my fault I shouldn't have left the little squirrel in charge." Wolverine said as he jumped the fence again and started on his way to Nightcrawler and Shadowcat
"But wasn't Markus with them what about him? " Jean asked
"Jean, I am sure he is okay, we know he can handle himself." Cyclops said knowing that Markus could handle himself
"I'm getting a clear reading now of Kurt's brain wave patterns, she's more focused each time she uses her power, you three go ahead I'll guide you and Jean don't worry I know we will find Markus on the way plus he is a very dependable person." Xavier said as the four of them started on their way
Back at the cemetery...
Mystique watches as Rogue sits alone in the cemetery with her knees pulled into her chest and she was about to walk up to her but did not as she saw Jean walking up to her first.
"Hi." Jean said trying to be as nice and friendly
"Do I know you ah these memories I'm so confused." Rogue said as she grabbed her head
"Yeah I know, I can relate to what you're going through." Jean said as she still did not move
"Jean you're Jean Grey, YOU'RE LIKE THE OTHERS!" Rogue said as she realized that she worked with the people who she thought were chasing her
"Relax but if you know who I am then you know I won't hurt you. Look it's tough to go it solo, hey zero pressure but if you want to talk more, you can reach me anytime with this communicator." Jean said as she used her telekinesis to give Rogue the communicator
"Latest fashion exsesory huh." Rogue said as she looked at it and Cyclops and Storm walked up to them.
"We all have one." Storm said as she neared
"Y-y-you no you won't take me." Rogue said as she ran away terrified of Storm
"Nooo wait!" Cyclops said as he chased her but just ended up falling in the mud
"I-I don't get it we were connecting and then-" Jean said while turning to Storm
"Then she saw me for some reason, she's afraid of me." Storm said feeling sad that she scared the girl off
"Well she looked pretty beat, she can't have gone far." Cyclops said as he stood up
Back with Shadowcat and an unconscious Nightcrawler...
"Come on Kurt wake up, you know I'm still not big on facial hair but like the pointy ears are starting to work for me." Shadowcat said in an attempt to wake him up
Back with Rogue...
Rogue sat there rocking back and forth while covering her ears with her hands when Mystique disguised this time as Cyclops jumped through the hole in the roof.
"Thought you could escape us did you, the X-Men don't leave loose ends." Mystique said
As she walked up to Rogue and pushed a big pot and it almost landed on her. Rogue ran as fast as she could out when she bumped into Cyclops and looked at him with a confused look but without missing a beat pushed as hard as she could making him fall on the ground. As soon as he hit the ground it hit the button on the side of his helmet and caused a beam to come out of his eyes and hit a power line which made Rogue run back inside but she ran into Mystique again this time disguised as Jean.
"I tried, I really did but some people just won't be helped!" Mystique said as she lifted her hand to trick Rogue into thinking she was going to use telekinesis which caused Rogue to Teleport away into mid air so she quickly teleported closer to the ground so that the fall would not be as big.
"Are you hurt, lie still, don't try to move." Jean said as Rogue started backing away with a terrified look on her face
"Child what is it? We are your friends." Storm said as she kneeled down to help Rogue up but Rogue instead grabbed onto her wrist which had exposed skin so that she could then absorb her powers, after she did Storm was launched across the area and a lightning storm started so be caused by Rogue for she could not control all of the powers
"Hey what's with the effects is--" Cyclops started to say before he noticed Rogue.
"Oh no, NO!." Were the only words he could manage to get out as Rogue then started levitating into the air
"I can hold it off for a little." Jean said as she started to use her powers
"Give it up she had Storm's powers but not her control." Cyclops says as Jean tries to hold it off.
"The power lines, if that hits the water, Storm will be fried!" Cyclops said as they ran over to her. When they got over to Storm, Markus was sitting there keeping Storm safe
"Guys I am gonna need some help. I can't hold this off forever." Jean said as she started to lose control but before she did Markus picked up Storm and Cyclops caught Jean as she stumbled to the ground.
"Thanks Scott." She said as he smiled at her weakly she then started to levitate Cyclops
"I can't keep us up for long." Jean said as she struggled
"Too much power I can't control it I have to aaagggh!" Rogue said as she then teleported out of the sky and the storm ceased. Jean and Markus then put everyone on the ground and as soon as they hit the ground, Markus collapsed. Jean then ran over to him and knelt to the floor to help him up, she put one arm over hers.
"What do you think happened to the Rogue?" Cyclops asked Xavier as he, Shadowcat, and Wolverine walked up who was holding an unconscious Nightcrawler
"Uh she's gone, somewhere, her mind is a jumble I can't trace it but I strongly suspect the hand of another at work here." Xavier said as he told the others his suspicions
"Hmmm *sniffs a few times* Mystique! She can change her body but not her scent." Wolverine said as he sniffed a few times
"Then we have to go after her." Shadowcat said feeling determined
"There's been enough damage done today and the girl must come of her own free will or not at all and we must first tend to our own." Xavier said as he looked at Storm who started to wake up along with Nightcrawler
"And it seems like that out of ALL of us, she wasn't afraid of me plus when she touched me my powers were not taken like I was immune or something." Markus said
"Looks like I missed quite a party." Nightcrawler said as he finally came too
"Kurt you're all right!" Shadowcat said as she got closer with a huge smile and he started to fall again but Kitty caught him.
"Easy you fuzzy elf, everything is going to be just fine." She said as Nightcrawler then looked at Cyclops who had his mouth wide open
Back at Cody's hospital room...
"Whatever this was, try to shake it off quick okay, the game against Jackson is next week and the last thing we need is Stevens taking your position." Cody's friend said as he threw a football at him and a plane flew off in the background.
Meanwhile at Bayville high...
"Welcome to Bayville high I'm sure you'll be very happy here, happy and safe." Mystique said to Rogue while she sat on her desk
"Sure, thank you." Rogue said as she walked out but the only thing she could think about was the boy from earlier and how she could not take his ability but for some reason when she took Kurts it just made her like Markus even more because she knew him in a way.
"The girl has great power and she is a fine addition to our side." a voice said as he messed with paper clips but was not in the room they were just moving on their own
"Yes we were lucky to get to her first." Mystique said as she changed to her blue form
"Indeed, you are certain any residual memories of the true X-Men have faded." He asked her
"Positive..." Mystique said to him very happy with her job
As Rogue walked out of the office she looked at the communicator that Jean had given her and wondered what to do with it and if maybe she used it she could talk to Markus but then put it back in her pocket and walked away
