Chapter 8: Mama take this badge from me. (1/2)

Things keep getting worse. And when it feels like something is going right, it just falls apart again.

Polly is missing. No one knows where she is. And Jason's killer is still on the loose.

Those were things going over and over again on Dante's head. Last night was a mess, he involuntarily made Josie mad at him because her father liked his performance more than hers. Not that he did on purpose since the only reason that he played, was because Veronica insisted.

But that's not important for him, he never liked Josie, so he didn't care about what she thought.

All that Dante could think about was Polly. It was two AM and Dante was waiting for Betty to say something. But nothing so far, he couldn't help but be worried.

He's been kicking the boxing bag on his room since he came back home. Roundhouse kicks, which are making his shin hurt. But he's simply ignoring the pain.

Suddenly, Dante is surprised by a knock on the door. "Great, who could it possibly be?" He complained out loud.

He quickly put his shirt back on and made his way to the front door and opened. To his surprise.

"Betty? Why are you here?" Dante asked in confusion as he was actually waiting for her to message him about what is happening.

"Can I come in?" She asked.

"Ummm... Sure." Dante said before letting her in and closing the door behind them. "Did something happened."

"Sorry, I just... couldn't stay there anymore." Betty explained. "Mom and Dad are freaking out, yelling at each other."

"So... No clues?" He asked, before grabbing Betty's coat and hanging it.

"None, they asked people around the place and no one saw anything." Betty answered. "I mean, how could no one see a pregnant girl running around?"

Dante signaled her to sit in the couch of the living room. He sat besides her. "It was late, and that wasn't exactly a populated area." He clarified.

"But still..." Betty looked really tired and frustrated. "Where could she possibly be?"

Dante leaned on the couch and looked at the sealing, as he has absolutely no idea of where could she possibly have gone. He couldn't stop worrying about her, as he was afraid that Jason's killer could still do something with her. There was also the worry of what exactly her parents wanted to do with her and the baby. Dante sighed before he spoke. "I-" But whatever Dante was going to say, got interrupted by someone knocking on the door.

Dante looked at Betty with a confused face. Before he realized something. "Did you're mother followed you here?"

Betty widened her eyes, probably believing that to be possibility. She makes a very annoyed face before standing up and walking towards the door. "Goddammit, are you serious right now? Are actuall-" She yelled at whoever was on the other side of the door, probably expecting to be her mother. Only to be surprised when she opened the door. "Polly?!"

"Here."

To Dante and Betty's surprise, it turned out that it was Polly. Standing on the front door with a cut on her leg. Dante and Betty quickly took her to his room and he grabbed some bandages for the cut.

Betty covers her cut with the bandage.

"How did you got here?" Dante asked in curiosity as the Sisters of Quiet Mercy was considerably far from here.

"This couple saw me walking on the street and asked me if I needed a rid- AUGH!," Polly was explained but then she made a small sound of pain.

"Sorry." Betty apologized as she finished putting the bandage. "Polly, everyone's worried sick, why did you leave the home? You could have really hurt yourself."

"I couldn't just stay there, waiting for someone who was never gonna show." Polly replied.

"Polly... Whoever kill Jason, is still out there." Dante pointed out. "I don't know what exactly happened or why someone would wanna kill him but he or she could do something with you as well."

She looked at him with a sad face before speaking. "Is there any clue or suspects? Anything at all?" Polly asked the two.

"No, nothing." Betty answered her.

Dante then remembered something that he needed to know more about. "Polly?" She looked at him. "One of Jason's teammates said that before he ran away, Jason was dealing drugs." He was thinking that maybe this dealer could be the killer.

"He... he made a one-time delivery." Polly told him. "We needed money."

"Why the fuck didn't you guys tell me?" Dante asked in a slight frustration.

"You would have wanted to make delivery yourself, we didn't wanna involve you." Polly explained.

"Polly, who did Jason take the drugs from?" Dante asked, in a frustrated tone.

"He went to a bar on the other side of the tracks and made a deal with some biker gang " Polly explained.

"The Serpents?!" Dante asked in surprise.

"I don't know." Polly answered him.

Dante sighed before sitting down on the bed besides the two sisters. Polly looked like she wanted to cry but was holding the tears back and Betty looked at the two sympathetically.

Dante takes a deep breath before speaking. "What do you want to do?" He asked Polly.

"I... I don't know." Polly replied sounding slightly overwhelmed. "Jason and I, we had a plan to go to this farm, upstate, and raise the baby." She explained to them. "It's where I still want to go, but I don't have any money."

"Polly, I can tell that you don't know anything about this farm, and even though I could give you some money and take you there, I rather not leave you or the baby with a bunch of unknowns." Dante was quick to reply to her.

"Dan is right, it's not a good idea." Betty finally spoke up.

"Dan? Wait, are you two friends now?" Polly asked in confusion.

"Ummmm, yes... basically." Dante awkwardly answered.

"He's been helping me out a lot with everything that has been going on." Betty explained.

Before any of the three could say anything else. Dante's alarm started to ring. He turned his gaze to it and saw that it was already six AM.

"Shit, it's almost time for school."

Although reluctantly, Dante and Betty decided to leave Polly on Dante's house and made their way to school. But before that, Dante put on a matching black denim jacket and jeans with a tucked in black T-shirt and black chukka boots. Then he ran to Pop's and brought some breakfast to Polly before that.

After that, Dante and Betty made their way to school to not arouse any suspicion.

"Do you think she's gonna be okay?" Betty asked him.

"For now, but this is not a permanent solution." Dante pointed out. "Your mother's paranoia will probably led her to believe that I'm hiding her or something."

Betty looked at him, then she sighed, knowing very well that what he said wasn't far from the truth. "We better not tell anyone about where she is."

"Agreed." Dante looked up the sky. It's doesn't look like it's going to rain. "We can comment to Kevin and Veronica, but let's hide the part about her being in my house."

They walked the rest of the way quietly and arrived at school in time. It was a day of absolutely no possibility of concentrating in class, as Dante was too worried about Polly's situation to think about it. Luckily, the class passed by quickly enough. Soon, Dante was with Betty, Veronica, and Kevin convene in the student lounge, where they discuss Polly and her escape from the Sisters of Quiet Mercy. With Dante and Betty not mentioning that Polly showed up on Dante's home and that she's staying there.

"My mom and dad don't wanna get the police involved." Betty was explaining to the situation to them. "They don't want anyone to know she ran away,or about her shameful condition." Dante rolled his eyes after hearing this.

"Please." Veronica spoke up. "What decade is this?" She then took a sip of the cup coffee that was on her hand.

Dante signaled them to come closer to him. Both Kevin and Veronica looked at one another before complying. "Truth is, Betty and I know where she is." He whispered.

"Seriously?" Kevin asked out loud and Betty quickly shush him.

"It's better we don't tell you guys, because the less people know, the better." Betty told them in a whisper as well.

"How can we help?" Veronica asked them. "Tell us, B, and we'll do it."

"For now, there's nothing we need." Dante spoke up. "But we might need help soon."

"Anytime Danticho." Veronica told him while holding his hand.

Soon enough, the school's bell ringed and they all went to class again. After another lackluster class, the class was over and Dante made his way home.

Betty decided to go home, to see what her parents were planning to do. But she assured him that she'll come by later.

As he walked, hw started to think about what Polly told him. That Jason might have got the drugs from the Serpents. Dante didn't know much about them, but the fact that it was a biker gang already paint them on a bad light. He would have to check it out later.

Soon enough, Dante arrived at his home. He quickly unlocked the front the front door and entered. He quickly took off his shoes and decided to search for Polly.

He made his way to the second floor and called for her. "Polly?" There was no answer. So he kept on looking for her. "Polly?" He called her again but no answer.

He walked through the corridor and noticed the bathroom door open. "Polly? " He called her a third time, as he didn't want to catch her at a inconvenience moment. But still there was no answer.

Dante finally decided to check inside the bathroom. To his surprise, Polly was there, standing in front of the mirror wearing only her underwear. Her hair was wet, signaling that she was taking a shower.

"Polly?" Dante called her again, but to no answer. He approached her, and when he got close enough, he touched her shoulder. "What is wrong?"

She looks at him, her eyes were red. Dante could tell that she was crying. Polly looks down at her growing belly. "When I told him about the baby, our baby... he was so happy." Tears started to come out of her eyes. "We were gonna run away. Start our family in a beautiful place." Dante feel like crying as well but he decided to endure and keep listening. "But now..." She then busted into tears completely.

Dante wrapped his arms around her and gave her a very tight hug.

Polly cried on Dante's shoulder for several minutes. Until he finally took her to his room and gave her some of his clothes to wear. A T-shirt that is baggy on her and black sweatpants. Then he gave her some vanilla ice cream that he had on his fridge.

The two were currently sitting on his bed eating ice cream together.

"So... what did I miss?" Polly asked as she eat a spoon of ice cream.

"Not much..." Dante replied. "For starters, a girl from New York is now studying in Riverdale high."

"So... does that matter in some way?" Polly asked in a confused face.

"Well... It does because... she's practically Betty's best friend now and... we're kind of going out." Dante revealed to her.

Polly almost choked with the ice cream on her mouth. She swallowed before speaking. "Okay, tell me everything about this girl, now." She demanded him.

Dante just chuckled at that, and grabbed his phone to show her a picture. "Her name is Veronica Lodge." The picture was one that Veronica send it to him, she was wearing her cheerleader outfit.

Polly picked his phone from his hand. "She's a River Vixens? Oh great, it gives her a lot of points." She told him while giving him a thumbs up. Then she reads the message that came with the photo. "Good night Danticho." She read it out loud. "Ohhhh, she gave you a cute nickname."

Dante just smiled. He really missed his talks with Polly.

I am so, so, so sorry for this horrendous delay. My computer broke, so I'm reduced to write on my phone (And since I'm unemployed thanks to Covid -19 and living on my grandmother's good grace, I won't be able to replace it anytime soon.)and I also lost my Netflix account making me unable to rewatch the episodes so I could write.

I'm also really sorry for the somewhat short chapter, but this part is kind of hard to write since the episode was mostly about Jughead and FP. And Since I haven't updated this story in a while, I decided to split into two parts.

Grammar mistakes are on a all time high since I'm writing on a phone.

Thanks everyone who followed and favorited this story and I you guys have any questions, please feel free to message me or leave it on the Reviews.
