Chapter 11: Disk 2.5 - Conde Petie and Black Mage Village
[The words "Conde Petie" appear on the screen. In front of them is an oddly-shaped structue, which seems to be made of stone]
Zidane "We came all this way, and there's still no Mist at all..." "Yeah, and what a weird-shaped... village? What is that thing?"
Dagger "Maybe it's a temple of some kind."
Quina "Is very delicious shape. Inside might have fine cuisine!"
[Quina runs inside]
Zidane "Geez... All s/he ever thinks about is food."
Dagger "Well, all you ever think about is girls..." [Dagger walks in]
Are you still butthurt over Zidane's brief and forgettable flirt with Lani? (Which was pretty forced, Zidane wasn't flirting with Beatrix when she was clearly being a psycho bitch) First off, Zidane protected you against Lani when she attacked, secondly, we left Fossil Roo and had to traverse quite a bit over the Outer Continent on foot to reach Conde Petie, which, going by realistic travel time and not gameplay time, should have probably taken days, that "flirt" should have been forgotten.
Zidane "Uh, that's right! My mind is filled with thoughts of...you!"
Vivi "..."
Zidane "..."
[Vivi runs into the building]
Zidane "Maybe I'm trying too hard..."
Or maybe Dagger is just being an obnoxious Tsundere. (And not the likeable, charming and wholesome kind) Like I said last chapter, she is in no position to be getting huffy with Zidane when she put him through so much crap.
This is one of the problems with Dagger and part of what's wrong with the love story, she is so wishy-washy, in the first Disk, after Alexandria and the Evil Forest, she gets flanderized into a really cliché naïve princess stereotype, whose naïvety was so implausible that it reached unsympathetically foolish levels (which I have already addressed in detail quite a lot), and now in Disk 2 she's morphed into some sort of annoying Tsundere who spends most of her time huffing indignantly at Zidane despite that he and their friends risked a lot to save her from Brahne and Kuja (in which her getting into that situation in the first place was her own darn fault) and is working on getting her where she needs to go, and we haven't even gotten to how she acts on Disk 3 yet…
Skipping the introduction scene with the Dwarves, on to some more pointless ATEs!
- Vivi and the Couple
[Vivi is standing somewhere in Conde Petie]
Vivi "Hmm... The people here sure are different."
[Vivi walks forward. A male dwarf steps in front of him, and a female one behind him]
Margaret Miller "Come hither, ye!"
Vivi "Aaa! I'm sorr-"
Margaret Miller "An' just where do ye think ye're going'!?" "Ye're always loiterin' aroon'!"
Granin Miller "Wheesht! Would ye stop hecklin' me fer once!"
[Vivi steps out of the way]
Margaret Miller "Away wi' ye!"
Vivi "Um, pardon me, but..."
Margaret Miller "Where would ye be wi'oot me?"
Granin Miller "Y-Ye dinnae have tae get sae angry..."
Margaret Miller "If ye dinnae want tae hear ma complainin', ye'd get back tae work!"
Granin Miller "Al-Alright, woman, alright..." [He walks off screen]
Margaret Miller "Lazy, no-good husband o' mine... Hm?" "Mercy me! Are nae ye a wee one... Runnin' errands here, are ye?"
Vivi "Um, pardon me, but..."
Margaret Miller "Well, give ma regards tae the others!"
[She walks off screen]
Vivi "Gee-whiz... The people here aren't afraid of me..."
That is what you got from this exchange?
Of course they aren't going to be afraid of you when they weren't attacked by Black Mages unlike on the Mist Continent, that just common sense Vivi. (That and the fact that other Black Mages from the BM village have visited Conde Petie, but this raises another question, why aren't the Dwarves reacting to Quina, the walking marshmallow with a big tongue or the human with a freaking tail whom they have never seen before?
- Quina Accused
[Quina is at the item store]
"Rally-ho!"
Quina "Rally-ho yourself." "This village have tasty munchies?"
This is something to point out. Quina, who always played the role of a moron, takes it and answered this dwarf with rare impudence: "you yourself are a bastard."
By the way, it is suggested that these dwarves in the original language had normal Japanese names (in translation, it's hard to distinguish - everyone here has European ones). That is! It turns out that of all the characters in the game, Sakaguchi decided to present Asians precisely in the form of some kind of green degenerates with a permanent defect in speech, culture and worldview, "classy".
Wendy Grocer "Aye, that we do! Condie Petie is hame tae the most delicious nuts an' berries in the warld!" "Ah ken that's why folk're always stealin' oor food!"
Quina "How rude! Thieves very bad people."
And yet you are traveling with a thief.
Wendy Grocer "Aye! That's right!"
Quina "Mmmm, lots of yummy-looking food here..."
Wendy Grocer "Ah'll let ye have that pumpkin bomb there fer 1000 Gil!"
Quina "Huh? Why you need Gil to eat food?"
Wendy Grocer "If ye dinnae pay fer somethin', ye're stealin'!" "Och! So ye're the thief, are ye no!?"
That is a good question by Quina, how does currency work here in Conde Petie that is completely isolated?
Quina "N-Not me! I only gourmand!"
Wendy Grocer "Ye cannae fool me, thief!"
Quina "No, I not thief!"
[Quina runs off screen]
- Dagger and William
[Dagger enters a room where several dwarves are gathered, sitting and talking to each other]
Dagger "Excuse me..."
Walter Teamaker "Soon, Ah'm gonna have tae find a wife fer ma wee William."
Barbara Gibgab "No lassie wants yir William fer a man." "Well, what's wrong wi' this ootsider lass right here?"
Dagger "Um, hi. I was wondering-"
Walter Teamker "Hmmm... Aye, she's a bonnie lass, at that."
Dagger "Have any of you seen-"
Helen Birdkeeper "But she's awful small tae send tae the Sanctuary, din ye ken?"
Jinkus Emptybottle "Look at her! She's a mickle bigger'n ye, Ah ken!"
Dagger "I'm not marrying anybody!" "Hmm... Sanctuary..."
And then she marries to get to the sanctuary, real subtle foreshadowing. *sarcasm*
- Quina Can't Communicate
[Quina walks up to a group of dwarves standing beside the weapons shop]
Richard Watchman "Ah dinnae ken what else we kin do, lads..."
Quina "Oh, recipe exchange time, yes?"
Matthew Watchman "Nay! That thief's been snitchin' oor food again!"
Quina "I...I not thief."
Richard Watchman "Nobody said ye were a thief!"
Matthew Watchman "Or are ye hidin' somethin'?"
Quina "I-I no have nothing to hide." (These people so difficult.)
[Quina walks off-screen]
Richard Watchman "Alright, lads! We have tae keep oor eyes open if we're gonna catch oor thief!"
Matthew Watchman "But we're always lookin' oot fer thieves, are we no?"
[Behind the counter, the top of a purple-haired head, and a small orange ball (which is on top of moogle heads) appear, unnoticed]
This is the only ATE that actually matters because it builds up Eiko. Skipping Zidane talking to Vivi. Just more Dwarves "humor".
- Hungry Bryan
[Two dwarves are speaking]
Bryan Rootrunner "Sis! Ah'm hungert!"
Darcy Skywatcher "But ye just ate a boiled owl, did ye no?"
Bryan Rootrunner "Ah did, but it didnae satisfy me voracious appetite!" "Ah have tae eat somethin' wi' more punch, likesay... Eh?"
Darcy Skywatcher "Rally-ho!"
Bryan Rootrunner "It's Mister Pyntie-Het!" "Rally-ho! What have ya tae sell today!?"
[A black mage walks onto the screen as it fades to black]
Did this really have to be an ATE? We could have simply saw the Black Mage and the Dwarves explain that they come here. And now the ATEs are over, and as usual, they were mostly filler.
[Zidane heads to the item shop. The black mage is talking to Wendy Grocer]
Zidane "Hm?"
Wendy Grocer "Plenty thanks. Yir goods are always welcome here."
Zidane "Hey..."
[Vivi walks onscreen]
Vivi "What the -"
[The black mage runs away]
Vivi "W-Wait!"
Zidane "Hang on, Vivi!"
[They chase the black mage to the next screen]
Vivi "Come back!"
Zidane "Vivi!"
[Dagger runs up to Zidane, who stops running]
Dagger "Zidane, what's going on?"
Zidane "I have no idea... But we gotta catch up with Vivi!"
You can't just simply say that you saw a Black Mage other than Vivi here?
[They both run to the entrance, where Vivi and Quina are waiting]
Zidane "Vivi, where's the black mage?"
Vivi "He ran away."
Zidane "Huh. Where the heck did he come from? Has Brahne found us?"
Shouldn't there be way more Black Mages and also Alexandrian grunts around then Zidane?
Harold Pathknower "Do ye ken the Pyntie-Hets?"
Vivi "Huh? Did you just say Pointy-Hats!?"
Harold Pathknower "Nah, Ah said Pyntie-Hets! They often come from the Sootheast Forest tae trade wi' us."
Zidane "They!? You mean there's lots of them? And...they live near here?"
Harold Pathknower "Aye! But ye gots tae go all the way aroon' yon cliff an' then go east tae find the Sootheast Forest!" "They live sae deep in the forest, that even owls dinnae live there!"
Zidane "What's that supposed to mean?"
Vivi "Zidane, I want to go to the Southeast Forest and find them!"
Zidane "Yeah, me too."
Dagger "I think it's a good idea. We might find some clues."
Quina "If possible to try new food, anywhere fine."
Yeah, yeah you want food, you've really mastered that one-dimension haven't you?
Zidane "Alright, let's head to the Southeast Forest."
[Zidane and company leave Conde Petie and head out onto the World Map, eventually arriving at the Southeast Forest]
Zidane "I think they live 'so deep in the forest that owls don't even live there.'"
[Zidane makes his way to the end of the forest. A Black Mage is standing in front of a section of dead trees. He waves his arms and a portal open up, revealing perfectly healthy trees. Zidane and Vivi run in, as the portal closes]
"Ahh!"
"H-H-Humans..."
"?" "What's wrong?" [The black mage turns around and sees Vivi and Zidane] "!"
"Humans! Run!"
What about the obvious Black Mage and the Qu in the party, did you not notice them?
[All the black mages run away]
Vivi "W-Wait..." "Did you see them!?"
Zidane "Y-Yeah..."
Vivi "They were talking! There ARE others like me!"
Well technically, the Black Waltzes, which are also Black Mages also talked, and even the Black Mages you saw before also talked, they just only said one word. (kill)
[Vivi runs off. Dagger runs onto the screen]
Dagger "Why would anyone build a village in the middle of a dying forest...?"
Zidane "Beats me..."
Uh, you guys do realize the forest isn't dying, the village is full of perfectly healthy trees, did you miss the part where the place was clearly hidden by some spell? Which to answer your dumb question with an obvious answer, Dagger, to HIDE!
Dagger "Where's Vivi?"
Zidane "He went that way... but I... Hey!"
[Dagger runs to Vivi's direction. Quina walks onscreen]
And of course Dagger just keeps running off, not considering Zidane's feeling.
Quina "A village! Village always have good food. I go find!"
Do Black Mages even eat, considering what they are?
[Quina runs off]
Zidane "Geez, you people..."
For once Zidane is being the relatable one here, but funny how he says this kind of thing now and not before when he should have called Dagger out on her idiocy.
- Gourmand's Nose
Oh great, more ATE filler and wastes of script pages.
[Quina walks up to a house. A Black mage sees him, exclaims "!", and runs in, shutting the door]
Quina "Why you run away?" "I not do anything... What you hiding?" "Ooo!" "Is armoa... Is delicious aroma!" [Quina runs in]
This was literally only a few seconds, did this really need to be a ATE? The developers would rather waste time on this than having more focus on Zidane and Garnet's love story or other interesting things?
- Life Cycle
[Quina is in a building with two black mages, one of them holding an egg]
Quina "A-ha! I know you hide food!"
Black Mage No. 111 "Get out!"
Black Mage No. 33 "This egg is ours!"
Quina "Is chocobo egg! Chocobo egg super-delicious! We share and eat it!"
Black Mage No. 111 "We're not gonna eat it!"
Black Mage No. 33 "A chocobo mother left it for us before she stopped moving!"
What about the father?
Black Mage No. 111 "That's right! We're gonna raise it for her!"
Quina "You crazy." "You never raise any animal before."
Black Mage No. 33 "Shut up! We can so do it!"
Quina "I not believe you. You eat egg behind my back!"
Black Mage No. 33 & No. 111 "No way!"
Again, what makes you think Black Mages eat, Quina?
- Everyday Life
[In a shop, a Black Mage is behind a counter]
Black Mage No. 163 "According to the book I picked up last week..." "...the customer says 'Give me the usual' when he wants to buy something special." "What would I do if a customer asked for 'the usual'...? Being a shopkeeper is really hard!"
…a Shopkeeper… in a Village of black magicians, located on an almost uninhabited continent in a forest, hidden from the whole world by a spell. And it has a HOTEL and SHOP that are completely pointless. Can you turn your head on? At least sometimes?
These ATEs are becoming even more pointless.
[A black mage runs outside]
"The humans are here!"
Black Mage No. 163 "What are humans...? I forgot..." "Are they a type of food?" "Huh!?" "A human?" "Um..." "..." "I forgot what to say..."
Are you serious? Aren't you Mages supposed to be Gaian souls (many of which should be human) that have been placed into artificial bodies? (I will be getting to that can of worms when the time comes) Also haven't you seen humans before coming to the Outer Continent, considering you were probably commanded or watched over by human Alexandrian grunts?
- Life On The Run
[Black Mages are running around, panicing]
"The humans are here!"
[Vivi chases after one of them, Dagger behind him]
Dagger "Vivi!" [She stops running] "What's going on...?" "!?" "...?"
Another ATE that was literally only a few lines and seconds, this is getting ridiculous.
- Visitor, Not Invader
[Dagger is in the Black Mage synth shop. Two black mages are there]
Dagger "Um... Excuse me..."
Black Mage No. 32 "Why are you here!?"
Black Mage No. 192 "This is our village!"
Black Mage No. 32 "Yeah!"
Black Mage No. 192 "You forced the little guy to guide you here, didn't you!?" "That's all you humans ever think about: using us!"
Shouldn't some of you guys have been originally human? (Again, I will get to this when we get to this)
Dagger "You mean about Vivi?" "That's not true! It's just that I was surprised to see black mages other than Vivi who could talk, so..." "Besides, I'm here to stop the person who is sending you off to fight!"
Except that you did see Black Mages other than Vivi that could talk before, they were the Black Waltzes!
Black Mage No. 32 "A-Are you telling the truth?"
Black Mage No. 192 "Lies!" "All humans are liars! You're lying!"
Dagger "But it's true!" "I can't just sit here and watch while horrible things are happening!"
Horrible things that are happening mostly because of you, Dagger.
Black Mage No. 32 "..."
- Different Language
[Vivi runs up to two Black Mages, standing in front of a memorial site, with a scarecrow]
Black Mage No. 288 "Is he the one who came here with that group of humans?" "He's alright. Look into his eyes. He's aware, just like us."
Vivi "Th-Thanks... Um... What are you all doing here?"
Black Mage No. 288 "We escaped together from Alexandria and the cargo ships."
Vivi "This far!?"
Black Mage No. 288 "That's right. We wanted to live in a world where there were no humans. To find that, we had to cross the ocean."
When did this happen? Also wouldn't Alexandria have noticed a large amount of Black Mages missing and escaping from the harbour since they clearly stole ships? Also how did the other mages escape from the cargo ships and get here? They can't have hijacked the Cargo Ships since they can't function without Mist and there is no Mist on the Outer Continent, we don't even see the sea ships that the mages used to get here.
Vivi "I see..." "So... Um, what's this?"
Black Mage No. 56 "This is a...uh... What's the word...?"
Black Mage No. 288 "It's a cemetery."
Black Mage No. 56 "Right. A cemetery."
Vivi "A cemetery...?" "So... Underneath the ground-"
Black Mage No. 288 "Yes, our friends are buried under here."
Vivi "But...why?"
Black Mage No. 288 "That's because..."
Black Mage No. 56 "I...I came here with Mr. 36. We escaped together." "We had so many things to learn. It was really scary at first, but we helped each other." "Then one day, Mr. 36 stopped moving. He just stopped... Wouldn't move or say anything." "My friend who knows lots of things told me that this was what 'death' was, and we had to bury him." "Mr. 36 is buried under the ground now. But I don't understand why." "He's going to come out again one day, right? When he does, I'm going to wash him off in the pond."
I am going to be talking about this whole thing at a later point.
Vivi "Wh-What's he talking about...?"
Black Mage No. 288 "..."
Vivi "Was it a disease? Or was he hurt?"
Black Mage No. 288 "..."
Vivi "Tell me! Why?"
Black Mage No. 288 "That's because..."
This is also the only ATE in the BM village that actually matters since it builds up a subplot. (but said subplot is also pretentious given what the Black Mages actually are and what the Mist is actually supposed to be, which I will be addressing fully when we get to that revelation)
[Zidane walks into the building where Dagger is]
Dagger "Oh, Zidane..."
Zidane "What's up, Dagger?"
Dagger "I was telling them why we're here."
Zidane "Why are we here?"
Dagger "Zidane!"
Zidane "It's just a joke. Geez, don't get mad."
If this was the writers attempt at a joke, they need to go back to the writing board, considering that Steiner is absent for this part of the game (making it a little more decent) I thought we were safe from unfunny, forced humour.
Dagger "Can't you see, I'm trying to make them understand?"
Black Mage No. 32 "What's a 'joke'? Is it scary?"
Really? They don't know what jokes are? I have two things to point out, first off, they've never heard of any jokes from the dwarves? The second reason ties back to what the Mist (which the Black Mages come from) really is, which again, we'll get to it when we get to that reveal.
Zidane "It's something funny! Right, Dagger?"
Black Mage No. 192 "You don't seem so bad."
Black Mage No. 32 "'Cause you're here to fight the bad guys!"
Zidane "That's right!"
Dagger "You're unbelievable, you know that?"
Pot calling the kettle black, Dagger. You are the last person who should be saying this, considering your unbelievable behaviour for the past Disk and a half.
Dagger "Hey, where's Vivi?"
Zidane "I don't know where he went..."
Dagger "That worries me..." "I'm going to look for him!"
Zidane "H-Hey, Dagger!" "Not again..."
Those last two words sum up a lot of stuff in this game in a nutshell.
[Zidane exits the Synth shop and goes in the direction where Vivi previously went]
Zidane "!" [He moves out of the way for Vivi, who runs by] "Hey, Vivi!" "What's up with him...?"
[He finds Vivi in the inn]
Zidane "...Vivi? What's wrong?"
Vivi "Huh?" "Oh, Zidane... It's... It's nothing."
Zidane "Did something bad happen? All the black mages seem pretty nice."
Vivi "Nothing happened..."
Why don't Zidane and Dagger just go to the clearly visible cemetery and see? What's stopping them from exploring the rest of the village?
[Vivi and Zidane walk to the entrance of the inn, where Quina's arrived]
Quina "Grr... I hungry!" "This village people eat terrible food."
Again, do the BMs even eat at all? Shouldn't this have been something Vivi was asked at the beginning of the game?
[Dagger walks in]
Dagger "Oh, Vivi. You're back." "Where were you? You look very..."
Zidane "You got tired, right, Vivi?"
Vivi "Y-Yeah..."
Dagger "I don't blame you. We've been walking around non-stop. We should call it a day."
Quina "I go to forest and look for food."
[Quina walks out]
Dagger "What about you, Zidane?"
[Choose between "Rest" or "Not yet". Have to rest eventually]
Zidane "Yeah, we'll call it a day."
[It's now night time. Vivi is talking to the person standing behind the counter at the inn, then walks out of the inn. Dagger sees all of this transpires. She walks back in to her and Zidane's room (bunk beds, btw. She's on top)]
Dagger "Zidane... Vivi just walked out."
Zidane "Maybe he's letting us have a little romantic quiet time."
Dagger "I'm serious!"
Great, more bickering. Also you are always serious Dagger, that's your problem, most of the game you are bland and super serious all the time. Eiko, other FF girls (Tifa, Aerith, Yuffie, Rinoa, Selphie, Yuna, Rikku, Paine etc.) and many anime girls have way more personality and charm than you.
Zidane "...I wouldn't worry too much."
Dagger "But..."
Zidane "He's trying to figure something out for himself."
Dagger "..."
[Scene changes to the Black Mage Village. Vivi is walking around, while Zidane's words appear on the screen]
Zidane "Think about it..." "Vivi's never met black mages like himself before."
Well technically he did with the Black Waltzes.
Dagger "But what if they're being mean to him, or saying nasty things?"
Did the Black Mages that you talked to give any impression that they were assholes?
Skipping ahead into Zidane telling his backstory, it is interesting, but why is he only telling it now and not way earlier, such as in Dali, if he wanted the girl he loves to know him so much? In FFVII we are given constant hints of Cloud's story starting right at the beginning of the game when we get to the centre of the Mako Reactor, we see the flashback to the promise he made to Tifa (a much better love story than Zidane's and Garnet's) and right after the prologue we go to Kalm to hear Cloud's backstory of the Nibelheim incident (even if it wasn't the whole truth), there is barely any build up with Zidane.
[Screen fades to black, then shows the Tantalus hideout. Zidane approaches Baku]
"What do you think his father did when he came home?"
"...Welcome him home?"
"No way!" "The father raised his fist and beat the son he had worked so hard to raise..."
Wham! Pow! Whack! Bam!
Okay that is abuse.
"Why?"
"I don't know..." "But you know what surprised him even more?" "The father smiled, after beating up his son!" "Can you believe that? He just gave his son a beating." "But this is what the man thought when he saw his father smile..." "This is my home. This is the place I call home." "The man is still looking for his birthplace. But he already has a home. Maybe..."
Yes because that totally excuses Baku beating up his kid, to repeat what I said back in chapter 2, why does Baku have such a fetish for beating the shit out of his children? This also "totally" excuses Baku wanting to leave Dagger in the Evil Forest which would have no doubt landed him in very hot water with Cid (and wasting Zidane's time to get to her by trying to beat him up again), this sets off some unfortunate implications.
Also the other problem here is that Dagger is being sluggish and amorphous. She practically does not really react to anything, even when there is such a reason to.
[Screen changes to Black Mage No. 288. Vivi approaches him]
"...it's the same for Vivi. He's looking for a place to call home."
"I wonder if Vivi will stay in this village?"
"Who knows... that's for him to decide."
Black Mage No. 288 "Hello. Nice to see you again."
Vivi "Um... I wanted to ask you something."
Black Mage No. 288 "What is it?"
Vivi "I was wondering how many people have...stopped...moving."
Black Mage No. 288 "You're very kind to use our words." "But you already know what it means to live...and to die." "You're asking about our friends who have 'died,' not 'stopped.'"
Which is all ironic because all of you are technically already dead. (this ties into what the Mist actually is)
Vivi "Um..."
Black Mage No. 288 "Seven of our friends stopped functioning recently..." "I think our life span is limited..." "I've suspected this ever since the first one came to a stop." "It varies a little, but most of us stop moving one year after production."
Vivi "No..."
Black Mage No. 288 "I haven't told anyone else about this. If I did, they'd feel the same way I do."
Vivi "What do you feel?"
Black Mage No. 288 "I don't know... Fear? I don't want to stop. And maybe I want to run away from it all." "But living in this village with everyone fills me with joy." "The joy of living with them far outweighs the fear of death." "Isn't it the same for you? Traveling with your friends gives your life meaning."
This is one of the problems. Vivi is tormented by existential problems yet is resolved by one elementary remark: cogito ergo sum. (I think, therefor I am) All the chatter about the fear of death is solved by an equally banal answer about the need to "leave your mark on life, to make a difference". Okay, let them live a year or two, and other people - forty times more, but I digress because this is irrelevant considering truth about the Mist and how pretentious this whole thing is that I'll be talking about once we get to the Iifa Tree and see the Soul Cage.
Vivi "I..."
[Screen fades to black, resumes at the entrance to Black Mage Village. Dagger is speaking to a Black Mage. Zidane walks up to her]
Dagger "Really?"
Black Mage No. 144 "Yeah, I think that's what you're looking for."
Dagger "Thank you!"
Zidane "What's up, Dagger?"
Dagger "Zidane! Someone saw a silver dragon in the northwest part of this continent." "The people of Conde Petie said there was a place called Sanctuary, where entrance is restricted..."
Black Mage No. 144 "I think this 'Kuja' said something about a secret being hidden on this continent."
Zidane "You heard him say that?"
Black Mage No. 144 "Yeah. Something about the source of the Mist..."
How did this random Black Mage hear this from Kuja? Was Kuja just randomly saying this in Alexandria? Why?
Dagger "Maybe we can find out more if we go there. And maybe save my mother..."
Okay but you should have done this from the start instead of abandoning Zidane and running back home like an idiot.
Zidane "Right..."
Dagger "Oh, where's Vivi?" "If Vivi says he's staying behind..."
[Vivi runs up to them]
Vivi "Wait for me!"
Dagger "Vivi?"
Vivi "Everyone in this village asked me to see the outside world and tell them about it."
Dagger "I see..."
Zidane "Oh, man! I thought Dagger and I'd get to spend some quality time together."
Yeah, Zidane's and Garnet's love story is supposed to be on of the main focuses yet it hasn't gotten as much attention and wholesome-ness as it was hyped up to be.
Quina "What you say?" [Runs onto screen] "You no can leave me here. I starve."
Zidane "Oh yeah, I forgot about you..."
Pretty much quoting the audience here and summing up Quina in a nutshell.
Dagger "Let's go, everyone!" "To Conde Petie! And to the Sanctuary that lies beyond!"
[Zidane and company leave the Black Mage Village, and return to Conde Petie]
End of Chapter 11.
That's chapter 11 done, it was a shorter chapter so it was quicker to get out.
I said back in the last chapter that I would be talking about the IX cartoon when it's first look would be shown this chapter, turns out, it isn't being shown so soon and things were misread, but if the IX animated series trailer and Remake trailer is shown soon while these chapters are still coming out I will definitively be talking about them.
