Chapter 9: Oh mama, I can hear your crying you're so scared and all alone. (2/2)
Was it skill or dumb luck? That was what Dante Rembrandt Parker was wondering at the moment. After stopping two thugs from trashing Mr. Andrews equipment. Kevin called his father, who arrested the two not long after. Mr. Andrews decided to accompany Sheriff Keller to the station in order to get more information on the thugs.
Dante was driven home by Kevin afterwords. They had a very short conversation about Kevin's new boyfriend, which happens to be that guy with the leather jacket that they met on the Drive-in.
Once they arrived at Dante's home, they said goodbye to one another and Dante entered his home. He took a shower and layed on his bed wearing black boxers. Thinking about that day. He was trying to come up with a theory of who were those guys and who sent them. He first thought about Jason's father but he quickly scrapped that idea. As he would probably not want to get attention to himself. So he kept on trying to figure out, but he couldn't think of anyone.
Unfortunately, the thoughts kept him from falling at sleep. Suddenly, he heard his phone make a sound. He picked up and it was a message from Veronica.
Veronica: Are you okay?
Veronica: Mr. Andrews called my mom and told her about the guys that tried to break his equipment.
Dante: I'm fine, my Karate skills were rusty but... They helped me pull through.
Veronica: Polly did show me some of those videos of the Karate tournaments you fought on.
Dante: Wait, what?
Veronica: She copied the videos you had on your computer to see it later.
Dante: ALL OF THEM?!
There were a lot of videos there.
Veronica: Yes, why? Got something explicit that you don't want us to see?
There was indeed something that could be considered explicit there, but he couldn't tell her that.
Dante: No, but they were personal.
Veronica: I'll tell Polly that, but until them.
Suddenly, Veronica sends him a photo of her wearing pajamas, blowing him a kiss.
Veronica: Sleep well, Danticho.
Dante smiled before also sending her a photo of himself giving her a peace sign.
Dante: Good night, Ronnie.
Dante then put his phone down. But quickly picked it up again after he heard another beep coming from his phone. Which was another message, from Betty.
Betty: Hey.
Dante: Hi.
Dante: Can't sleep?
Betty: No.
Dante: Me neither.
Betty: Kevin told me about the improvised crew, it was really sweet of you.
Dante: It was mostly Kevin and Moose, I just asked.
Betty: It was still a great gesture and you really helped Mr. Andrews.
Dante: I guess he didn't told you about the thugs.
Betty: He did actually, but I thought you probably don't want to talk about it.
Dante: You got that right.
Dante: How are the preparations of the Baby Shower going?
After a pleasant night, speaking with Betty about the Baby Shower. It was time to get out of the bed. Luckily, there was no school, and the Baby Shower was later that night. So he pretty much had a free day.
He stood up from his bed and put some clothes on. A black T-shirt, black jeans, a black denim shirt and black sneakers. Before making his way out as he decided to have breakfast at Pop's. Pancakes with maple syrup. As he eat however, something came into his mind. A very similar memory that started out the same.
"Hey," The memory was a conversation between him and Jason that occurred while both were eating pancakes at Pop's. "Thanks for ordering for me." He was wearing a long sleeve white T-shirt, white slacks and white shoes.
"No problem, but..." Dante was very confused. "Why so early?"
"Well..." Jason seemed to be trying to find the right words. "I was trying to get away from Cheryl."
Dante didn't look surprised. "What was it this time?" He asked his friend. As Jason calling him to hang out to get away from Cheryl was pretty common. But this was new due to how early it was.
"Just, typical stuff." Jason replied before he started to eat.
Dante just raised an brow. "Okay?" He asked before sipping a bit of coffee. "Why don't you just admit that you don't want to hang out with her?"
"Dante, she's my twin sister." Jason was quick to point out. "How am I supposed to tell her that?"
"Hey, I don't wanna hang out with you because you're excruciatingly clingy." Dante made a painfully accurate impression of Jason.
"I don't talk like that." He was quick to state. "But, seriously, I just can't do that."
"Jason, I know she's your sister but you're not obligated to spend time with her." Dante told him.
"It's either me or no one." Jason pointed out before he drank a cup of coffee with cream.
"Can't she hang out with one of the Vixens or those two, that I forgot the names, that she's always with." Dante was quick to mention as he poured some maple syrup on his pancakes.
Jason sighed. "The Vixens don't really like Cheryl, most of them actually want her to be kicked out of the team." That surprised Dante. "And those two, that you were talking about, they only hang out with her when Cheryl actually buys things for them."
Dante was confused. "Wait, if they want her kicked out, how is she the cheer captain?"
"My parents actually payed for all the uniforms and made donations that kind guaranteed her position." Jason seemed to be ashamed as he speaks. "They did the same to get me into the football team."
Dante widened his in response.
"Before you say anything, I only started to play football because my parents kind of forced me into it." Jason instantly explained. "I started to enjoy after some time, so I told them to stop so I could earn my position."
Dante just chuckled. "Good, Polly would have been extremely mad with you if she found out that you only got into the team through bribery."
"You think I don't know that." Jason chuckled as well. "But, Cheryl is a whole different story." He leaned on his seat before continuing. "Cheryl wanted to be a Vixen from the start, and she did had talent for it." He drank his cup of coffee. "But she never really got along with the other girls, so the donations were the only thing keeping her on team." Jason then looked at the window. "Until a big one was given for her to become captain."
"Holy shit," It was Dante response to what his friend just told him. "Why the hell is she still a River Vixen? Is she seriously okay with only being Captain because of bribery?"
Jason didn't answer, he just looked at the window before looking at Dante. "She... Doesn't know."
"What?!" Dante was confused.
"I... Asked my mother not to tell her." Jason looked down sadly. "My sister loves being a Vixen, she can't know about this." He puts both of his hands on the table." Dante, no one knows about this, promise me that you won't tell anyone. Not even Polly."
"I promise." Dante instantly complied. "But, I'll be honest with you ,Jason." He leaned on his seat. "The reason why no one likes Cheryl is because she's an asshole."
Any normal person would probably be angry of someone calling their sister an asshole. But Jason just sighed as he knew that Dante was right. "Cheryl... Can be a great person when she wants to be." It was the best he could say about her.
"The problem is that... The only person that she's this "great person" with, is you." Dante was quick to point out. "I mean, she seems to go the extra mile in the asshole scale with Polly and I for no good reason."
"Asshole scale? That sounds so wrong." Jason noted.
"She's an five with everyone but a eight with Polly and I." Dante explained. "Like when she called Polly, a fat cow."
Jason widened his eyes in surprise. "What?! When did she say that?"
"It doesn't matter, and you didn't heard it from me." He pointed the fork at him. "But, my point is, your sister has a hand on the fact that no one likes being around her." Dante then eat another piece pancake. "And there's nothing you can do about that, she's the one that has to change."
Jason sighed. "You're probably right."
Dante finished his coffee. "Of course I'm probably right." He then reached his pocket. "Got any change?" He needed to pay the tab.
The memory ended as soon as Dante finished eating his breakfast. He paid for the food before making his way out.
The boy dressed in black barely did anything all day. He just went back home and played video games until it was time for the Baby Shower. Once the time came. Dante put on black slacks, black Oxford shoes, a black button shirt with a sleeveless black sweater over it. Then he picked a gift that he had for Polly.
After that, he made his way to Veronica's home to meet with them.
It didn't took long for him to arrive. He knocked on the door and was greeted by Mrs. Lodge. "Danticho, you're here early." She instantly let him in.
"I came to see if you all needed some help." He explained.
Inside, he could see some nice decorations with balloons, and some signs. He saw Polly, Veronica and Betty standing in front of a table, probably trying to decide where to put the sweets on Veronica's hand.
"On the left of the table." Dante decided to input.
The three turned around as soon as he said that and looked at him. The girls smiled as soon as they saw him.
"What?" He asked before looking at his outfit. "Too much?"
Polly then approached him. "No, you look great." She quickly replied before kissing his cheek and pulling him into a hug. "But you came a little early."
"I came to see if you girls needed any help." He told her while returning the hug. "But, seems like you all already managed." Most of the decorations were already done, and the food was already on the tables.
"Yeah, but your company is more than welcome." Polly told him before pulling back. Then she sighted the gift on his hand. "You didn't had to bring me anything." She was quick to inform him.
"No, but I did it anyway." Dante handed her the gift. "It's nothing fancy, so... Don't worry." He informed her as well.
She gladly accept the gift. "Are you hungry?" Polly asked.
"Well..." Dante was indeed a little hungry.
"Come on then," Suddenly, Veronica joined in on the conversation. "Let's get you something to eat on the kitchen, before the guests arrive." She extended her hand for him to take.
"Okay." Dante accepted and took her hand.
Veronica then escorted him to the kitchen, leaving Beth and Polly to continue the preparations. Veronica then grabbed a piece of vanilla cake. "Polly said that it was your favorite." She mentioned before handing him the plate.
"It is," Dante replied with a smile as he grabbed it. But before he eat it. "Wait?" He realized something. "Did she..."
"Yes, she asked for some vanilla sweets because of you." Veronica revealed.
"She didn't had to do that." Dante stated.
"Polly loves you, and you did a lot for her." Veronica put her hand on his cheek. "But, I need to know." She stared at his green eyes. "Do you... Have some... Unresolved feelings for her?" Veronica asked him, sounding a bit concerned.
Dante put the plate down and grabbed her hand and held it tightly. "No," He told her with conviction. "Polly and I are just friends, and that's all we ever going to be and I swear
." But then he close the distance between himself and her. "Now, you answer me," He pulled her hand off his cheek but kept on holding it. "What is going on between us, Veronica Lodge?"
Veronica just smiled at him. "Well, Dante Parker." She wrapped her arms around his neck. "I would be lying if I said, that I don't think about you at least once a day."
"Just once a day?" Dante asked with a smile before he wrapped his arms around her torso.
Before Veronica could reply however, they heard someone entering the kitchen. They looked to the side and saw that it was Veronica's mother. Dante and Veronica awkwardly let each other go as soon as she saw them. "Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt."
"N-no, you..." Dante awkwardly tried to explain.
"Danticho and I were just discussing something." Veronica explained.
"I'm sure you two were." Mrs. Lodge was obviously not convinced. "Some the guests have arrived, I need you to help me greet them."
"Already?" Veronica spoke uo before she turned to Dante. "Eat you cake and join us, okay." She told him before leaving the kitchen with her mom.
Dante, who was left alone there, decided to grab the cake and eat it.
Suddenly, The Baby Shower finally commenced as people arrive at the Pembrooke apartment. Polly was reuniting with several of her other friends that she hasn't seen in months, such as Valerie and Melody.
Dante was putting some of the sweets on the tables alongside Betty.
"Thanks for helping." Betty told him as she puts her hand on his shoulder.
"Seeing that makes it completely worth it." He replied while pointing at Polly, who was smiling while hugging the guests.
Betty smiled. But that smile completely turned into a surprised face. "Mom!" In surprise, Dante looked at the entrance and saw that Betty and Polly's mom arrived. As she approached Polly, both Dante and Betty approached them.
"Polly, look, Mom's here!" Betty announced to Polly as she stands besides her.
Dante reached for a gift that Alice was carrying and put it on the table besides them.
"I'm so glad you're here, and you're safe." Alice told Polly, causing her to look down at her belly. "You and the baby."
"Oh, mom." Polly instantly embraced her mother once she heard that.
Dante and Betty looked at one another and smiled at the tender moment. Until...
"We're here!" Their embrace is interrupted by the arrival of the Blossoms: Cheryl, Penelope and Nana Rose.
"Oh shit." That was Dante's reaction as he knew that whatever was about to happen. It was not going to be good.
"No big deal, it's only the best stroller money can buy." They gift Polly with an expensive stroller.
"So expensive." It was Polly's justifiable reaction.
"All I ask in return is that you make me your baby's godmother." Cheryl wants to be named the child's godmother, unaware that Polly has already named Betty the godmother. Which Betty cleared her throat after hearing it."Kidding!" She added and both if then chuckled. "So not kidding."
Dante then saw Jason's grandmother and decided to greet her. "It's good to see you Mrs. Rose."
"Oh, Dante, is always a pleasure to see you." She greeted him in return.
But before they could say anything else. "Come on, Nana Rose, let's get you a good spot by the food. " Cheryl appeared and pushed her away.
Dante then decided to greet Mrs. Blossom. "It's good to see you again as well, Mrs. Blossom."
"You can call me just Penelope. " She replied while strangely touching his shoulder tenderly. Which made Dante a little awkward after the revelation of her being his father's former stalker. Apparently, both Mrs. Cooper and Mrs. Lodge noticed that and stared at her with disgusted looks.
"Dante, could you... Help me with something in the kitchen." Mrs. Lodge called him, obviously wanting to get him away from her.
"Umm... Sure," He awkwardly told her. "Excuse me." He excused himself from Mrs. Blossom before he followed Mrs. Lodge.
Betty, Polly and Veronica were obviously confused about what just happened. As they looked at one another with deep confusion. Polly then looked at her mother, who looked away in avoidance.
"I... I'm gonna see if they need an extra hand." Veronica told Betty,Polly and everyone else, before following Dante and her mom to the kitchen.
Once they were out of sight, Mrs. Lodge asked him a question. "Did she..." She seemed to be trying to find the right words. "Ever do something or act... Inappropriately around you?"
"What's that supposed to mean?" Veronica asked with a very weirded out expression.
"Well..." Dante then started to remember all the times that actually encountered Jason's mother. And he remembers a few times that he caught her staring at him, alongside a few times where she touched him for no particularly reason and he remembers that she had Jason invite him for dinner a few times although Dante never really went because Cheryl would annoy him.
"The time that it's taking you to respond already answers my question." Mrs. Lodge put her hand on her face in frustration.
"Okay, time out, what exactly is going on?" Veronica asked as she was very confused about the whole situation.
Dante looked at her. He took deep breath before speaking. "Apparently, Cheryl's mom used to be my father's stalker."
"What?" Strangely, that didn't came from Veronica. But from Betty, who just entered the kitchen as well. "Are you serious?"
"You left Polly with them?" Dante was quick to ask Betty as those two on the same room is a recipe for disaster.
"She'll be fine," She approached him. "They're not going tear each other's hearts out in front of other people." Betty didn't sound so certain about that. "But, what the hell is that about Mrs. Blossom being your father's stalker?"
Suddenly, Mrs. Lodge grabbed Dante's shoulders out of nowhere. "Dante, listen carefully." She sounded serious. "Stay away from her, you have no idea what she put your father through."
Dante was justifiable confused by that. "What? Causing his break up with Betty's mom hardly sounds like something horrible." She did him a favor actually.
"Dante, you don't understand, the things she did..." Mrs. Lodge seemed genuinely concerned. "Were disturbing and some were even grotesque."
Now, Dante was disturbed. "Like what?"
"Once, She... Saw a girl speaking with your father and... She put broken glass inside the girl's jacket and the needed to be taking to the hospital because a sharp piece went deep into her hand." She explained that disturbing story to them and all three of them were visible disturbed. "And... The wound got infected for some unexplainable reason and the girl's hand had to be amputated."
"Jesus Christ," It was Veronica's response. "Are you sure it was her?"
"Yes, I saw her doing it." Mrs. Lodge confirmed. "At the time I didn't pay much of a mind because the girl she did that with was a obnoxious person." She explained. "But now I regret that I didn't say anything, because she kept on doing those things to any girl that Virgil got involved with."
Dante was now terrified and judging by Betty and Veronica's equally terrified expressions, they were probably feeling the same way.
"So, please, stay away from her." Mrs. Lodge pleaded with him. Then she turned to the girls. "We better get back."
"This necklace reads the baby's aura." All four of them made their way back to the party and hang around for a while. Dante did his best to stay away from Mrs. Blossom. Actually, he kind of stayed away from everyone and just eat some of the vanilla sweats in the party. Until everyone circled around Nana Rose, where she took out a necklace "Predicts the sex." She told Polly.
He stood besides Veronica and Cheryl "Nana has dementia and gypsy blood." Cheryl stated, causing Veronica to look confuse.
"Oh!" Nana Rose reacted.
"What?" Polly was concerned. " Is my baby okay?"
"Babies." She spoke up. "It's twins." She announced " One of each!"
"Let's hope." Dante couldn't help but comment.
Polly turned around to look at him. "Looking forward to have twins calling you uncle Dante?" She asked, causing several of the girls to yawn in response.
"I... Don't think that's going to happen." He replied.
"Oh, it will, I'll make sure of it." Polly spoke with full determination. "So you better prepare yourself, future uncle Dante." She stated.
Some of the girls giggled at that.
Soon enough, it was time to open the presents. Polly insisted in opening Dante's present first, as he was the first one to arrive.
"Okay, the first present that I'm going to open, will be the first one that I received today." She grabbed Dante's gift. As he was sitting next to her. "It's from my best friend, Dante Rembrandt Parker." Dante didn't understood why she said his full name but he decided to ignore it.
Once she opened, it was revealed to be a really nice looking stuffed bunny. Which Polly seemed to have recognized. "Is this, the same bunny from those old photos of yours?" She asked him.
The photos that she copied without his permission. "Yes, I used to take it everywhere I went." Dante explained. "Now, I think it's time to pass Nny foward to someone else." The stuffed rabbit was called Nny. He got that name from a comic book that he better not mention what is it about.
Some of the people around them exclaimed. Including Betty and Veronica.
"Oh, Dante." Polly smiled as she grabbed his hand affectionately. "If Nana Rose is correct, the twins are gonna have to share it."
Dante smiled in return.
"Okay, now Mom's." Betty announced before handing their mother's present.
Polly then opened the present. "It's my nightlight." She spoke." When I was a little kid." Some of the guests exclaimed again. "How did you... Where did you even..."
"I saved it." Her mother told her. " I know how much you loved it and how it made you feel safe." She explained. " And I wanted you to be able to pass it down to your own baby one day."
"Alice, it's lovely." Mrs. Lodge told her.
Cheryl's mom then spoke. "Open ours next, dear." She told Polly. She opened the gift and it was a wooden worse. "That is a family heirloom. Great-grandfather Blossom used to play with it." Dante recognized due to seeing it inside Jason's room. "Isn't it magnificent?"
"Jason loved this thing." Dante couldn't help but mention it.
"He did, he used to play with all the time when he was little." Mrs. Blossom spoke, visibly sad about it.
"Oh, Polly, come stay with us at Thornhill." Suddenly, Cheryl spoke up.
"Cheryl's invitation is genuine." Her mom added. "Thornhill's gates will always be open to you." She stated. "The child would want for nothing." She made it clear. " You would want for nothing."
However, Polly's mom was having none of it. "Do you think that you can just waltz in here, with a bedbug-infested Trojan Horse, wave a blank check around and steal my daughter?"
Dante held Polly's hand as he knew what was about to happen.
"I didn't think you wanted her, else why would she have been exiled like some pariah?" Mrs. Blossom quickly rebuffed.
"To keep her away from your family." Alice stood up from her chair.
"Oh..." Mrs. Blossom also stood up. "And not because you're ashamed?" She approached Alice. "Why is your own daughter not living with you?"
"She's not going to set foot in that twisted, poisonous house of yours." Alice yelled in response.
"She should be so lucky." Cheryl stood and told Alice.
"Cheryl, that's not helping." Betty was quick to say it.
"She'd do a lot better there than with you." Mrs. Blossom stated.
"How dare you?" Alice asked her in a hostile tone.
Unfortunately for them, Dante had enough of that. "SHUT THE FUCK UP!" He yelled really loud calling everyone's attention. Then he approached both Alice and Penelope. "Jason is fucking dead! and this, this dump and petty quarrel is the cause of it!" He yelled at the two of them. "They were supposed to be together, but no, none of you would let them have that." He looked at Polly, who looked at him sadly. "All for what?"
Polly then stood up from the chair.
"Honey..." Alice tried to touch Polly.
"No, don't touch me." Polly instantly pulled her arm away from her mother. "Dante is right, we were supposed to be together." She started to cry. "And you didn't let us have that, neither of you." She told both Alice and Penelope. "And you know it cost Jason his life." Polly then walked away from them.
"Polly." Her mother called her as she walked away.
Everyone watched as Polly walked way. Dante looked at everyone and Betty signaled him to follow her. "Umm..." He actually thinks that she needs to be alone.
"Please." Betty pleaded him.
Dante sighed before going after her. He followed to the guest room where she was staying. It was pretty decent room, but a little bland. Not that Dante had any complaints as it was supposed to be bland. Polly was sitting down on the bed, sobbing. Dante didn't say anything, he just sat besides her and wrapped his arm around her and pulled her close. She rested her head on his shoulder and the two stayed like that for a while.
Sometime later, Dante and Polly came out of the room and noticed that the guests, including Cheryl and her mom left. But Betty and her mom were still there. They stayed quiet though, and Polly went to grab the presents she received.
Dante on the other hand, approached Betty. "How is she?" Betty asked him.
"Upset." He replied.
Betty looked at Polly with a sad look. Before she turned to her mom. "Mom." She called her. "You need to talk to her."
Alice just looked at the two of them, before walking towards Polly as she folded some baby clothes. "Polly, I'm sorry." She apologized. "It's just that woman..."
"Didn't send me away." She interrupted her mom. "You did." Polly pointed out. "And if you hadn't, I would've met up with Jason, and he still might be alive." She stated.
"Or you might've gotten hurt or worse." Her mother replied. Dante hates to admit but she's probably right.
"I was alone there." Polly was visible upset. "In that place."
"I never wanted you to feel alone, or unwanted, or unloved." Alice held Polly's hand. "Honey, come home." She asked her. "I promise you you'll never feel that way again." She sounded genuine.
"You want me to come home?" Polly asked her in doubt.
" More than anything, honey." Alice answered.
"Yeah, but what about Dad?" Polly wiped out her tears.
"Your father..." Alice was trying to find the right words.
"Dad's just gonna have to get over it." Betty decided to join in the conversation and sat besides her mom.
Dante just stood there behind the couch that they were sitting down, as this was a family conversation.
"Are you sure he's not just gonna try and make another appointment for me?" Suddenly, Polly said something that confused all of them.
"What are you talking about? What appointment?" Alice instantly asked.
Polly looked visibly disgusted. "Before you sent me away, Dad made an appointment for me to see a doctor." She told her mother. " Said he would be more than happy to pay for it." She said with a frown. " That I shouldn't have to live with my mistake." She touched her belly tenderly.
Hearing that, made Dante grind his teeth. "Polly..." The boy dressed in black finally spoke up. "Please, tell me, it isn't, what I think it is." He practically begged her.
Polly looked at him sadly, unfortunately confirming his suspicion.
"Oh, my God..." It was Betty's reaction to that.
"He didn't even ask me what I wanted." Polly told them while caressing her belly.
After that, a painful silence ensured in the room as everyone was still adsorbing what she just told them.
Alice left the Pembroke in rage after what Polly told them. Probably to confront Mr. Cooper. Betty stuck around for a while as her home was about to become a battle ground. Dante stayed a bit to help Mrs. Lodge with the cleaning.
"Thank you, Dante." Mrs. Lodge thanked him. "The girls are in guest room with Polly." She informed him.
"I'm gonna say bye then." He replied to her before making his way to the guest room.
Once he got there, he noticed Betty, Veronica and Polly sitting on the bed giggling at something that they were seeing on a laptop.
"Hey." Dante spoke from the door.
"Hi." Polly said in return. "You going now?" She asked him.
"Yeah," But then he got curious as he had an idea about what they were seeing at the laptop. He approached them. "What are you girls watching?" He asked.
The girls smiled before showing him. And it turns out that they were watching some of the videos that she copied from his computer. It was an old video from when Dante was eleven. The video showed him wearing some winter clothes composed of a baggy black puffer jacket with hoodie, black winter pants, black boots for snow. He was in a kitchen playing on a pinball machine.
Dante remembered that this was during Christmas. But then Dante tried to close the laptop as he knew what would happen next. But Polly pulled back before he could. "What are you hiding?" She asked jokingly before putting on full display for them to watch.
Suddenly on the video, a music started to play as the little Dante played on a pinball machine.
Revvin' up your engine
Listen to her howlin' roar
Metal under tension
Beggin' you to touch and go
The song was Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins.
Highway to the Danger Zone
Ride into the Danger Zone
Suddenly, little Dante started to dance as he played the pinball machine. He rock his head to the left and right
Headin' into twilight
Spreadin' out her wings tonight
She got you jumpin' off the deck
Shovin' into overdrive
He started to clap alongside the song. Before doing a spin.
Highway to the Danger Zone
I'll take you right into the Danger Zone
He started to punch the air enthusiastically.
You'll never say hello to you
Until you get it on the red line overload
You'll never know what you can do
Until you get it up as high as you can go
Dante then moonwalked away before running back to not lose his score.
Out along the edges
Always where I burn to be
The further on the edge
The hotter the intensity
He extended his left arm up and left repetitively.
Highway to the Danger Zone
Gonna take it right into the Danger Zone
Highway to the Danger Zone
Ride into, the Danger Zone
He then stomped the ground with his right foot several times.
Highway to the Danger Zone
Gonna take it right into the Danger Zone
Highway to the Danger Zone
Ride into the Danger Zone
Highway to the Danger Zone
Gonna take it right into the Danger Zone
Dante jumped up several while still playing.
Highway to the Danger Zone
Ride into the Danger Zone
Highway to the Danger Zone
"HIGHWAY TO THE DANGER ZONE!" Dante sang out loud as the song ended up. Suddenly, Dante looked at the machine. "Fuck!" Little Dante cursed as he didn't got the score that he wanted.
"Hah! Loser!" Whoever was filming the video, mocked Dante, which he gave a middle finger in response. "Come on, let's bounce, Mad Dog and Baby Teeth are waiting."
"Why are filming this, Kurtz?" Dante asked before grabbing the camera and turning it off, ending the video.
Once the video ended, all of the stared at Dante with smiles on her face. Dante in response just looked away in embarrassed.
"Danticho," Veronica called his attention. "That was the cutest thing I ever saw." She commented to him.
Dante looked away embarrassed again.
"Where were you in this?" Betty asked in curiosity.
"In..." Dante was still embarrassed. "A Pizzeria that my neighbor worked at, I kind of entered without permission to play pinball." He embarrassingly admitted.
"And the guy filming it?" Polly asked.
"He... Was ... Someone that I wish I never met, let's leave it at that." He bluntly told Polly, in hopes of her not prying any further. "Is there any possibility of you not watching any more videos if I ask?"
"No." Polly instantly replied, clicking on another one.
For the rest of the night, Dante actually ended up staying with them in the room in order to make sure that they're not gonna see something that he doesn't want them to see.
.Imust say, the votes worked better than I have imagined.
Thanks everyone who followed and favorited this story. Your support means a lot to me.
Questions and Answers:
I know martial arts don't make you invisible but it feels like you're making Dante take damage just to fuel drama. Because chuck is a legitimate novice in combat and Dante is a black belt. Martial arts don't usually look like it would do a that much but it makes a huge difference. In conclusion, fuck you for making this some forced drama bullshit
You wanna know what else makes a huge difference in a fight? Size and physical shape. This is a fight against guy who's taller and in much better physical shape than Dante, who barely exercises, has a relatively bad diet and hasn't fought anyone since he came to Riverdale.
Although I'm a firm believer that skill beats size, being in a good physical shape is just as important.
Also, what's with the insults? Just because you didn't like a part that was purposely put there.
I can't wait for the next system issue. I really enjoyed your story. you are a good writer I hope you don't give up on this story.
I don't give up on stories.
I really like that Archie is not here. I can't stand that idiot. Fred is too good a dad for him.
I also find it great that Dante takes no shit from anyone.
Bit of a complaint, no way a black belt would let a sloppy brawler like Chuck get some shots in like that. I can only assume that Dante is a bit rusty. Could maybe take some things from the movies of Scott Adkins and Michael Jai White, two expert martial artists, the former being an all time favorite of mine, for more martial arts stuff.
Really hoping Toni does get involved with Dante. I really like her character. He would be a bit like his dad then, real ladies man, even if he doesn't mean to be. Though I'm wondering how you'll do things later, relationship wise, can only assume that throughout Dante's life, he'll be in some kind relationship with them, but like how some go, they're eventually break up. Are Veronica and Dante together? As in dating and all that?
Interested to see how Dante will interact with the Serpents, and with FP, considering the history between the man and his dad. Maybe he could impress the Serpents if he beats down on some Ghoulies.
Love the bossy Polly, and how she kind of scares Dante.
I kind of have someone else in mind for the casting of Dante. Either Tanner Buchanan or Peyton Meyer.
Really intrigued to learn about Dante's mother, who she is and why she left.
Dante confused for Charles? This the same Charles from the show?
I really love the parts where Dante gets told something about his dad's past, then learns such stuff like he dated Alice and Penelope was his stalker, those long pauses then the sudden and loud shout of "WHAT?!" Those parts are golden! Now I'm guessing the next one will be when Dante lets Veronica know his dad dates her mom.
Hope everything is okay with you, pal. Really liking how things are progressing.
Archie will appear later, but let's just say that Dante will not take kindly of someone breaking Betty's heart.
His dad taught him to never allow anyone to walk over him.
Like I explained above, Dante barely exercise, has a bad diet and hasn't fought anyone or even trained since he started to live at Riverdale.
Dante and Veronica obviously like each other but they haven't make it official yet. Relationship wise, I'm going to put my own unique take on the love triangle between Betty and Veronica. (Like, for starters, I'm making it understandable why they would like the same boy. Something that is never explained in the comics. Hell, in the comics there's one point where Betty and Veronica say that Archie is a stupid, boorish, selfish, average-looking jerk.) Cheryl on the other hand... Well... Let's just say that she's gonna be a unfortunate case of an apple not falling far from the tree. (If Toni gets the majority vote, the three of them will have a wild relationship.)
It's going to be the other way around actually.
I wanted to show an unique take on Polly, as she never got much development in the show and honestly, she barely appeared after season 1.
It's ironic that you mentioned Tanner Buchanan, as his character in Cobra Kai is basically Dante if Johnny was there for him as much as he is for Miguel.
You will be surprised, especially when she turns up again with some very undesirable company.
The whole Charlie/Chic crap will be alterated. They will be the same character.
He kind of forgets to mention.
I'm glad you liked my story.
My vote is definitely Yes for Toni. I don't know what exactly are you planning, I'm theorizing that Dante will end up in a Polyamory type of relationship with the girls, and I can picture Toni being cool with it. Maybe he dates Veronica and Betty separately but dates Cheryl and Toni together.
Wait, something worse than organ harvesting? What could possibly be worse?
Jughead will probably come back after FP is arrested but when will Archie come back? I hope he's interested in Veronica, because it would be funny watching Dante getting jealous.
Dante's fight scenes remind me a bit of Cobra Kai. I was theorizing that it was Kyokushin.
Interesting theory.
You'll be surprised.
Archie probably will, but Veronica already has someone she wants to be with.
Cobra Kai is basically an Americanized style of Tang Soo Do. (Korean Karate.)
Still nice seeing Dante take care of Polly
Also at the Baby shower when things start to look like they are going to go south when the coopers and blossoms start with each other before either side can really get going hope Dante pops up tells both sides to shut the hell up and kill each other outside of Polly's view
I also still just love the amount of shit Dante gives Alice for her attitude
Nice of Dante to put the temporal work crew together
You know when it comes to the next detail he learns about his fathers own Highschool life I do hope Dante after a pause just says I'm no longer capable of being surprised but the simple WHAT is still pretty funny
With Dante beating up the thugs reminded me that I hope the gangs like the Serpents come to respect him even if he's never a member of the gang... and he has to beat the shit out of some people first
I've also been meaning to say I hope thanks to Dante the town of Riverdale doesn't become such a shit hole like it has in the last season and that Hiram doesn't run the place
As for Toni well I'll say yes since along with Polly she's someone I wouldn't mind seeing with Dante
He loves her, in a platonic way, of course.
No, but he did told them to shut the fuck up.
Dante gives shit to anyone he doesn't like.
He likes Mr. Andrews and wanted to help.
He probably will, unless it's too shocking.
Only two Serpents will like him unfortunately. (One of them is Toni.)
Dante's father will kind of put an end to Hiram's schemes as the two have a history.
Good to know.
If you can make it feel organic and natural and not like a poorly written harem story
Well duh, it would suck otherwise.
