Disk 3.2 - Treno
[Screen shows the group in Tot's house, exiting Gargan Roo]
Amarant "I never knew about this secret passage..."
Tot "I apologize for the lack of space."
Amarant "It's fine..."
Zidane "Hey, Amarant, have you been here before?"
How does Zidane not remember when he robbed from the auction house here and framing Amarant?
Amarant "...What about you?"
Zidane "Me? I've been to every place where there are beautiful women!"
Just now this brat was suffering so loudly from the fact that he didn't have Garnet by his side - and then he starts flaunting his playboy again.
Amarant "..."
Eiko "Can we talk about Madain Sari later? I wanna go sightseeing."
Tot "Oh, of course. There's no hurry."
[Eiko runs off screen, then back on screen]
Eiko "What are you staring at? Let's go!"
Vivi "Wh-Who? Me?"
Eiko "Yes, you! This is my first time in Treno. Show me around." [Eiko and Vivi walk off]
Freya "Then I shall go, as well. I'll take this chance to relax." [Freya walks off]
I refer to what I said just last chapter about Freya forgetting everything she said to Zidane about Kuja. Fratley has also been completely forgotten.
Zidane "What about you, Amarant?"
Amarant "..." [Walks away]
Zidane "...I don't understand him."
Well you don't understand a lot of things, Zidane, because you never THINK!
Tot "You know, today is the last day for the card game tournament registration."
Zidane "Well, then I better go register."
Yes… just go play a card game instead of being with Garnet and also finding out about Kuja, not even FFVIII forced a gratuitous Card Game Tournament in the story upon the player with it's Triple Triad card game, unlike with IX's Tetra Master.
Tot "I'm a skilled card player. Please let me know if you need assistance."
Zidane "Hey, I'm not so out of practice that I'd need your help."
The player certainly does though, since the game never even properly explains how Tetra Master works.
Tot "I see. Good luck."
- Eiko Talks Life
[Eiko and Vivi are outside of Tot's house]
Vivi "Um...Why didn't you..."
Eiko "Why didn't I invite Zidane?"
Vivi "Y-Yeah."
Eiko "These two are thick like bricks. They don't realize how they feel about one another until they're apart."
Vivi "...What do you mean?"
Eiko "Aaargh! You big dope!" "Okay, listen carefully. Zidane really likes Dagger." "But Zidane wants to act cool, so they misunderstand each other and end up fighting. Now do you understand?"
Again, Eiko would be excellent at "Everything Wrong with FFIX and Zidane and Garnet's love story." But it was less "fighting" and more bickering.
Vivi "...Not really."
Eiko "Zidane wouldn't stop acting cool in front of me, either."
But he did during last chapter.
Eiko "It's so hopeless..." "Hey, what's that? Is that the card stadium?"
[Eiko runs to the stadium]
Vivi "H-Hey, wait...!" "...She's gone."
You could follow her, you know.
Passerby "Hey! You're..."
Vivi "Huh...?"
[Zidane walks down the stairs to exit Tot's]
- How He Ended Up Here
[Vivi is walking with the passerby, Marco, near the entrance of Treno]
Marco "I never expected to run into you again."
Vivi "Um, thank you very much for your help on the airship."
Marco "Hey, no worries." "My master is a good man. Anyone else would've refused." "You should thank my master. He's the one who agreed to take you to Alexandria for free."
Vivi "Yeah..."
Marco "So, how was the play? Did you like it?"
Vivi "Y-Yeah."
Marco "Wasn't there an accident during the show? Were you okay?"
It was less of an accident and more of a big "kidnapping", how does this guy not know of that? In fact the residents of Treno seem to generally ignore almost everything that happens in the world for no reason.
The fact is, is that this world is inanimate. The NPCs that inhabit it are completely cardboard, and they don't care about anything; they, for the most part, have two lines throughout the game: "everything is ok" and "oh no, our city is screwed up, what's next."
Vivi "Oh, um... Well, yeah, I was okay."
Marco "Good! Well, I gotta get back to work." "Hey, don't you live near Treno?"
Vivi "Yes, I do..."
Marco "Your family must be worried. Go home soon! See ya!"
[Marco walks off screen]
Vivi "...But Grandpa's gone." "Hmm..." [Choose between "Stop by at home" or "Stay in Treno". Choosing the first gives an extra ATE, so it's the one I chose] "Well, since I'm so close to home, I might as well stop by."
This ATE did explain how Vivi got to Alexandria at the beginning of the game, but that raises another question, what made Vivi leave Quan's Dwelling and go all the way to Treno by himself and want to go to Alexandria to see a play? That is never really shown or explained.
[Vivi walks towards the exit, as the screen fades to black]
[Zidane exits Tot's]
- Memories By The Water
[Amarant is standing outside of a mansion]
Amarant "Nothing's changed..."
Four-armed Man "Dammit! That bird lady didn't fall for it!" "Gotta find my next scam..."
[Amarant walks right by the Four-armed Man, ignoring him]
Four-armed Man "Damn! Ain't you gonna apologize for that?"
Amarant "..."
Four-armed Man "Hey, I'm talkin' to you! Don't you know who I am!?"
Amarant "...No."
Four-armed Man "What!? I'm the infamous..." "Huh? I've seen you somewhere before..." "!" "Y-You're... the Flaming Amarant!"
[Two people, in their own conversation, overhear and respond with "!"]
This of course goes nowhere, despite the fact that Amarant has a bounty on his head in Treno, none of the guards ever try to apprehend him. All we get is just the "Four-armed Man" (Gilgamesh) trying to do something to get Amarant. (which just involves stalking a little girl, will be seeing that uncomfortable scene soon) We will also be seeing the really dumb reason he got that bounty.
Four-armed Man
"I-I'm sorry!"
[Runs off screen. Eiko walks on and approaches Amarant]
Eiko
"What happened, Amarant? That guy was totally frightened!"
"Oh, I know! You were being a bully, weren't you?"
Amarant "..."
Eiko
"My grandpa always told me that bullies are actually cowards."
Amarant
"Just leave me alone..."
Four-armed Man
"Hee hee... So he's traveling with a kid..."
"I never knew the Flaming Amarant had a soft spot for kids!"
"Well now, excuse me!"
[Runs off]
Except that what you saw hasn't really implied that since Amarant just told her to buzz off.
Eiko
"...So weird."
"Amarant? Where are you going?"
[He walks off screen, ignoring her]
"...So weird."
What's actually weird is that the rest of the party, such as Freya, seem perfectly okay with letting kids like Eiko and Vivi wonder around a place like Treno (which has thugs lurking about) completely unattended.
[Zidane reaches the next screen]
- City People
[Inside a shop of some sort]
Nobleman "I purchased a life-sized griffon statue the other day..."
Young Nobleman "How wonderful! I'll bet it's gorgeous."
Nobleman "Indeed, it is. I had to add a room to my mansion for it!"
Noblewoman "Oh, my..."
Nobleman "Everything costs so much!"
Young Nobleman "I am also thinking about buying a behemoth statue for our mansion."
Nobleman "Everything costs so much!"
Noblewoman "Tee hee hee..."
Nobleman & Young Nobleman "Ha ha ha..."
[Screen changes up to Eiko and Mog, on the second floor]
Eiko "Hmm... I guess city people have their problems, too." "I thought they would be more carefree."
Yes, because we really needed to see some nobles talking about buying stuff and Eiko commenting on it, writers.
Mog "Kupopo!"
Eiko "?"
[The Four-armed Man approaches Eiko]
Four-armed Man "!"
Mog "Kupo!"
Eiko "Hey... What are you doing?"
Four-armed Man "H-Hello, little girl..."
Eiko "Oh, you're the one who was being pushed around by Amarant."
Four-armed Man "Ha ha ha... D-Don't be silly!"
Eiko "So? What can I do for you, Mr. Wimpy?"
Four-armed Man "...Alright. Hey, are you new here?"
Eiko "Uh-huh. I'm sightseeing."
Four-armed Man "Hey, why don't I show you around.?"
Why don't you take a seat Mr. Gilgamesh?
Eiko "No thanks. I'm fine by myself."
Four-armed Man "W-Wait!" (Dammit, why do I gotta deal with this brat?) (I just need to nab her and get even with Amarant...) (That bounty on his head is mine for the taking!)
Eiko "I'm leaving." [She starts to walk away with Mog]
Four-armed Man "W-Wait! I'll take you out to dinner."
Eiko "Dinner?"
There is nothing to say about this implied pedoscene.
Four-armed Man "That's right! What would you like to eat?" [Quina suddenly walks onto the screen and approaches the four-armed man from behind] "Treno gelato, seaweed pasta... The choice is yours."
Oh hey, Quina suddenly came back, I mean LITERALLY. S/he disappeared for a while when the party left him/her back in Madain Sari in Disk 2. Actually, the party used Brahne's ship to get back to Alexandria from the Outer Continent where the Iifa Tree is, but Quina was still in Madain Sari at that point, meaning the party had to go back to Madain Sari to get her/him, which isn't mentioned, but s/he was no where to be seen in the Disk 3 Alexandria segment last chapter, s/he wasn't even with the others when they got on the Gargant ride to Treno, so s/he literally comes right out of nowhere with no explanation. It's also pointless because in just a few moments, Quina will just literally jump right out of the game again for a bit until Lindblum. They really didn't give a crap, did they?
Quina "You say you have delicious food?"
Four-armed Man "Yeah, lots of delicious..." "Huh!?" [He turns around]
Eiko "Hey, Quina."
Quina "You say you have delicious food?"
Four-armed Man "Wha- Who the heck are you!?"
Quina "I want delicious food."
Four-armed Man "Wh-Why do I gotta..." "A-Are you part of Amarant's posse?" (Maybe Amarant hired...him? ...to protect the girl...?) "Ahhh! I'm sorry!"
The whole joke here is that Gilgamesh makes incorrect assumptions about Amarant.
[He starts to run away. Quina chases him]
Quina "You give delicious food!"
[They run off screen]
Eiko "...SO weird."
Mog "Kupopo!"
Eiko "Hey, he dropped something."
[Received Chimera Armlet!]
So the whole point of this scene was just to get an accessory… great.
[Zidane goes to the card stadium]
Card Seller "Registration for the card tournament is still open." "You must win two games before you can challenge the champion." "Fantastic prizes await the contestant who defeats the champion."
Zidane "What's the champion like?"
Card Seller "Lo and behold...!"
Zidane "Is he that amazing?"
Card Seller "Oh, yes, very much so..."
Zidane "Just tell me what he's like!"
Card Seller "Well..." Whisper whisper...
Zidane "Wh-What!? She's a cutie in a sailor's uniform!?" "Wow, I'd love to challenge her!"
Card Seller "See? Now, go ahead and register!"
Zidane "Sure, I'll register. Anything to meet this girl!"
So much for "can't start your day without Garnet".
Card Seller "You're registered now. Please enter through the gate." "The game will begin automatically."
[Zidane passes through the gate. "Card Game Tournament, First Round. Opponent: Attic Man Wake". Zidane has to win to move on to the second round. If he loses, he has to keep doing it until he wins. After winning, he exits the building]
Great, so it is mandatory to win in a card game you don't fully understand because the game itself is too lazy to fully explain to you, what makes it worse is that if you loose, you're best card is taken by the winner, meaning your deck gets progressively weaker if you keep loosing. Not to mention that if the player has been ignoring Tetra Master up until this point, you will probably have a really lousy deck and will be forced to do some grinding.
Card Game Usher "Congratulations! Advance to the second round when ready, or go inside and play right now!"
- Good Old Days
[Amarant is standing in front of the auction house. Freya exits it and walks up to him]
Freya "Oh, it's you, Amarant." "What are you doing? Looking at the lake?"
Amarant "I thought you'd be the quiet type..."
Freya "Sorry. Maybe I've changed. It's probably his influence."
Here we go with the Zidane wank again (which Amarant's whole arc will annoyingly hammer in) pretending like he has more of an impact than he really does. It would make more sense if she was referring to Fratley, the one that she is actually closest to, given that they are in love, but the game pretty much gave Fratley the boot.
Amarant "Zidane, huh...?" "So... Did you find what you were looking for?"
Freya "Well, I've been investigating Kuja..." "Some people seem to think that King, the owner of this mansion, is Kuja." "True, I found people who witnessed Kuja on his property. But there is no proof that Kuja is Lord King."
Amarant "Hmph."
Freya "...What do you know?"
Amarant "Nothing, really..."
Freya "Maybe I can find out the truth from the mansion's auctioneer..."
Amarant "Don't hold your breath."
…And that's the last we will hear about Kuja's connections to Treno. As I've stated back in Disk 2 Treno, aside from this pointless mention right now, the subplot of Kuja running the Auction House and how there was apparently another Black Mage factory hidden somewhere in it like in Dali, is never fully explained and is completely dropped, even the auctioneer, who we clearly saw was working with Kuja, plays no more story significance and is never questioned by Freya like she said she would.
Honestly, it feels like this whole subplot was written just to have Kuja spot Dagger in Treno in Disk 2 and go back to Alexandria castle to tell Brahne and have her captured, but that is pointless seeing as Dagger was already going home to see her mother due to plot contrived stupidity and would have gotten captured anyways, Kuja spotting her didn't really affect the outcome of that dumb plot.
Freya "So, what's your story? You seem to know your way around. Are you also here for a reason?"
Amarant "Who, me? I'm only an unemployed security guard."
Freya "Security guard?"
Amarant "It was painfully dull... until the day he showed up."
Freya "?"
Amarant "...I've said too much."
Freya "Hey, wait!"
Amarant "What, you're interested in hearing about my past?"
Freya "Your past, huh...?" [Choose between "Of course I'm interested" or "I won't force it out of you". First one means an extra ATE, so I chose it] "Of course I'm interested"
Amarant "..."
- Lessons Of Life
Here we go with Amarant's cheap backstory which I have been building up.
[Amarant and Freya are still in front of the Auction House. Amarant recalls his story]
Amarant "This was where he and I met for the first time..."
Freya "Who is 'he'?"
Amarant "...Zidane."
Freya "I thought the two of you just met!"
Amarant "I don't think he remembers." "I was working as a security guard at this mansion..." "I was looking for a fight... It didn't matter who, as long as he was strong..."
Kind of a big coincidence that he doesn't remember, especially since Zidane was telling Garnet about the whole thing in Dali.
[Flashback to past]
"THIEF!"
[Zidane opens a door and runs out]
Zidane "That was too easy!"
[He's about to run off screen, but Amarant gets in his way]
Zidane "Wh-Who are you?"
Amarant "You look like a worthy opponent..."
Zidane "Hmph. So you're the King family's infamous new security guard, huh?"
"Family"? Isn't it just supposed to be Kuja? How did Kuja even get this mansion anyways?
Amarant "What if I am? Hasn't got me any action yet." "Come on, fight me."
Zidane "Hmph. So you're just a thug."
Amarant "What did you call me!?"
Zidane "My favourite kind! I'll knock you out in one minute, flat!"
Amarant "Don't dissapoint me."
"Where did that thief go!?"
The dialogue from the guards suggest that they have already seen what the thief, Zidane, looks like (who isn't even wearing a disguise), so they shouldn't have believed Zidane when he says what we are about to see.
[Two guards run outside]
Zidane "Hee hee... Here they come."
Amarant "I won't let them interfere... Come on!"
Zidane "Don't be silly. The game's over!"
Amarant "What!?"
[Zidane runs up to the guards]
Amarant "!"
Zidane "H-Help!" "He came out of that door as I was passing by!" "I was staring at him 'cause I thought he might be a burglar, then he started pummeling me!"
Guard "But he's a guard for this mansion..."
Zidane "That's why he's suspicious. Just look at him!"
Guard "W-We always had our suspicions, but..."
And here is the "wonderful backstory" of why Amarant is such a super-criminal with all the hype. He worked as a security guard, Zidane stole a thing from under his nose and told the idiot guards who arrived at the place that the thief was Amarant himself. And they actually believed him. Zidane doesn't even have any bruises or is bleeding!
Zidane "I'm gonna call the police! You guys hold him off until they get here!"
POLICE? Police in the world ff9. He says he will call the police, to freaking GUARDS!
Zidane [Zidane runs to Amarant] "(I'll tell you one thing... The truly mighty ones don't flaunt their power.)" "(How can I describe it to you? The sly eagle hides its claws.)"
Why do you care, Zidane? You just met Amarant. Stop trying to pretend that Zidane is "deep", Sakaguchi.
Amarant "Hmph..."
Zidane "(I'm outta here! Buh-bye!)"
[Zidane runs off]
Guard "W-We've got you now!"
Amarant "...Yeah, right."
Guard "H-Hey!"
Guard "Don't run away!"
[Amarant walks off screen. Screen returns to present day]
Okay, really? There is nothing against Amarant that incriminates him as a thief, all he has to do is stay put and show that he has doesn't have the stolen item to prove his innocence but instead he just walks away incriminating himself because the writers and their plot-induced idiocy said so.
RuskaSky's fic, which I've mentioned before, gives a much better backstory for Amarant (And made Zidane and Garnet's love story better done) check it out!
Freya "S-So you..."
Amarant "I became a wanted man..."
Freya "Ha... Ha ha ha...!"
Amarant "What's so funny?"
Freya "Sorry. I just didn't expect you'd fall for such a childish trick..."
He didn't, he just stupidly incriminated himself by not staying put.
Amarant "...It's no concern of yours."
Freya "I'm sorry. I see, so that's what happened."
Amarant "Don't get me wrong. I don't hold a grudge against him." "But I need to understand him... He doesn't flaunt his power. He only cares about being with his friends..."
Well he mostly cares about being with Garnet but the game is going to keep undermining the love story with these cheesy friendship speeches. (especially when the "You're not Alone" scene happens) But keep talking about your generic arc, Amarant.
Freya "You were destined to meet each other again." "Two men walking on the same path are destined to confront each other one day." "That's what a man told me some time ago..." [She walks to the end of the screen] "Honesty is a virtue. That's if you can manage to stay alive..."
What are you, a pretentious literary class teacher? I think you should be more astounded at how stupid and forced that backstory was. Also "honesty is a virtue" is pretty ironic coming from you who won't find Fratley and being honest with him to try and get him to remember everything.
- Home Sweet Home
[Vivi is in Quan's dwelling, a cave with hot water at the bottom]
Vivi "This place hasn't changed..." "This is where I fell... I was staring at something down there." "Grandpa helped me..." "I haven't liked heights ever since."
[Vivi walks to a new screen. There's a ladder, a table, a stool, and a long bowl]
Vivi "Wow... Dusty..." "I guess that's natural. It's been a long time since I left..." "Grandpa didn't eat anything towards the end... His cooking tools are badly damaged now." "Oh yeah, he said something like..."
[An apparition of Quan appears at the base of the ladder]
"Vivi! I learn art of fulfillment without eating food!"
Wait, so the reason Quan passed away was just because he literally stopped eating altogether?! That is really extreme, I understand that he felt guilt at seeing Vivi as food when he first found him but that doesn't he should have quit eating altogether and staved to death and left Vivi alone! What was the point of this whole thing? Just to make a cheap twisted joke?
Also why is Quan only being referred to as "he" here? Aren't the Qus supposed to be genderless and referred to as "s/he"? Unless Vivi doesn't get that considering he calls Quan the male term of "Grandpa" and Quan never explained the whole genderless thing to him.
Vivi "..." "...You know, Quina looks so much like my grandpa."
Gee, maybe it's the fact that they are both the same species and that Quale seems to know Quan?! But thanks for stating the obvious. Did Quan never explain to you what s/he was? What's next, he is going to say that Freya and Fratley look so much like Puck?
[Zidane passes through the gate. "Card Game Tournament, Secoud Round. Opponent: Cardona Bishop Wake". Zidane has to win to move on to the final round. If he loses, he has to keep doing it until he wins. After winning, he exits the building]
Same as what I said above for the first round can also be said here.
Card Game Usher "Congratulations, you won twice! Advance to the final round when ready!" "A word of caution! You have only one chance to play in the final round! Be careful!" "Find a moogle and save now if you have any doubts!"
Well thanks for the heads up I guess, at least you don't have to win this round, doesn't make up for the first two though.
- Hallucination
[Quina is walking along a path]
Quina "H-Hungry..." "I try travel to eat many foods from different cities..." "But why you need Gil to eat anything!?" "I cannot eat without Gil..."
You know you can just ask for some Gil from your friends, right?
Quina "Ah, light on water look like food... Is just illusion..." "But maybe real! I go jump in!" "No... I drown if I jump..." "But...I hungry..." "HUNGRYY!"
[He jumps in. There's a big splash heard]
Old Man "Suicide, eh?" "I've seen many people commit suicide because of gambling debts..." "What a shame..." "Rest in peace..."
This is what I meant above by Quina literally jumping out of the game for a while, he shows up out of nowhere and then quickly disappears again, and for what, a suicide joke?
- Premonition
[Eiko runs up to Tot, in his home]
Eiko "I'm back!"
Tot "Welcome back! How did you like Treno?"
Eiko "Hmm... It was okay."
Tot "Do you prefer your own village?"
Eiko "Yeah... But it's fun to meet different people. I've only had my moogles 'til now."
Tot "Just the moogles...? What about the others?"
I think Tot should be questioning why those moogles never told other moogles on the Mist Continent by now.
Eiko "They're gone... I'm all alone now."
Tot "I see... So you are the sole survivor of the summoner tribe..."
Her and Garnet, whom you should know is one by now.
Eiko "Why does everyone wanna know about my horn and the eidolons?"
Tot "Oh, I'm a researcher of sorts... I'm just curious."
Eiko "I see... Oh yeah, you were Dagger's teacher, right?"
Tot "Well, yes."
Eiko "Teach me how to become a grateful princess like her!"
Tot "Ha ha... The princess used to be a rumbustious girl, just like you."
How can that be if Garnet didn't remember her past though, and why hasn't that come back now that she has remembered? (Anything to give Garnet an actual personality)
Eiko "Do you think I can be just like her when I grow up?"
I don't think that is something you should want, considering how bland Garnet is now.
Tot "Oh, of course..."
Eiko "I'm glad to hear that! You see, Dagger gave me her 'mark of the princess'!"
Tot "The mark of the princess...?"
Eiko "Yeah! Dagger gave me one of hers. So now she's got two and I've got two."
Wait, what? Back in Alexandria Garnet said she was giving Eiko TWO jewels, and since Eiko already had the Memory Earring (The Alexander gem piece from Madain Sari) that should means Eiko should have THREE jewels and for Garnet one (The Silver Pendant). Was this another bad translation?
Tot "Do you mean... the legendary crystals!?"
Eiko "Yeah. That's what Dagger called them, too."
Where? No where in the dialogue did Garnet say that before. Why would she when she didn't even know what they actually were?
Tot "I-I see..." "So the crystal was divided. One piece remained in Alexandria, while the others were sent to Cleyra, Lindblum, and..." "The summoner tribe took the last piece to Madain Sari..." "But why did they have to split the crystal? What happened 500 years ago to prompt such actions...?" "..." "Ah! Excuse me." "I'm sorry. I get lost in my thoughts sometimes." "Miss Eiko?"
You know you could have told Garnet and the others all this back in Alexandria, weren't you nearby during that meeting with Garnet and the others and Eiko ran up to Garnet and she gave Eiko those jewels which you should have heard and saw?
Eiko "...Mog is calling me..." "Mog wanted to talk to a moogle she met here in Treno, so I left her there, but something's wrong!" "I have a bad feeling about this... I've gotta go get Mog!"
As we will learn a little later, Mog is not a moogle at all. But, as I understand it, the screenwriter did not know this at this point.
[Zidane enters the building for the final card battle. As he leaves, a girl runs onto the screen]
Erin "This way, Regent!"
Regent Cid "Yes, I know... But remember my condition..."
Oh hey, it's Cid… Why weren't you at Alexandria last chapter to see your "favourite niece" again? Also shouldn't you be more concerned that Kuja is still on the loose rather than playing a card game? Skipping a bit.
["Card Game Tournament, Final Round. Opponent: Sailor Erin". Whether he wins or loses, this is his only match; it's a one-shot deal. If he loses, he gets nothing; if he wins, he gets an oglop card (all 5 oglop cards if he's perfect) and a Rebirth Ring]
[Screen changes to outside the building. Erin and Cid are waiting; Zidane exits it]
Card Game Usher "Congratulations, you're the winner!"
[Zidane goes to speak to Cid and Erin]
Zidane "So the champion was an airship pilot from Lindblum..."
Erin "I'm Erin, the airship pilot! Nice to meet you."
Regent Cid "Don't be ridiculous! I'm the champion!"
Zidane "Hey, Regent Cid. Still an oglop, I see."
Which still makes no sense. Can't just cast Esuna or use a Remedy on him?
Regent Cid "And you still haven't learned any manners..."
Zidane "Cut me some slack, will ya? What are you doing here, anyway?"
Regent Cid "Mainly participating in the tournament, but there was something I wanted to test."
Zidane "What are you testing?"
Erin "Our new airship, Hilda Garde 2!"
Zidane "The one that can fly without Mist?"
Regent Cid "Correct. We can't go very fast yet, but we made it to Treno."
So instead of seeing your niece you went to Treno instead?
Zidane "Why now?"
Regent Cid "I have a funny feeling there'll be more trouble on the horizon."
Then why did you waste time by coming here to play a card game instead of flying straight to Alexandria, which really isn't that far from Treno?
Zidane "Don't you worry. I'm sure our almighty Queen Garnet will take care of everything.
Are you in denial and have completely forgotten about everything you saw Kuja do, like hijacking an Eidolon?
[Eiko runs on screen, Mog following her]
Eiko "Oh no! This is horrible!"
Zidane "What's up, Eiko?"
Eiko Oh, it's just terrible! A moogle from Treno told me-"
Regent Cid "What's wrong? Gwok!"
Eiko "It's Alexandria! Something horrible is happening!"
Gee, maybe this whole "going to Treno" thing was a really stupid idea!
How did that Moogle even get that information so quickly anyways?
End of chapter 17
