Tommy and the bassinet

It took a few days but Tommy was happy for Trixie to be home as Stu gently bathed her in the sink.

He couldn't wait until she was old enough to join him in the bathtub and play with the bath toys Didi always gave him but for now, he watched Trixie giggle as the washcloth touched her skin.

"There you are! Would you like to be with Mommy for a moment while Daddy washes your sister?" Didi asked.

Tommy cooed, toddling towards her. He took Didi's outstretched hand as she lead him to her and Stu's room.

The toddler blinked, noticing something near his mommy and daddy's bed. Something big and frilly as he tugged at the skirt.

"I know Daddy and I put a crib in your room sweetie but we decided to let Trixie sleep with us for awhile in her bassinet so we'll be near her if she cries," Didi explained, smiling as her son looked at her with a curious expression. "You can visit her whenever you like until it's time to move her into your room."

Tommy nodded happily, standing on his toes in the hopes of seeing something in the bassinet.

Seeing nothing except for a blanket he frowned before hearing Stu come in with Trixie wrapped in a towel.

"I guess Mommy told you where your sister's going to sleep for a while huh Champ?" Stu smiled. He gave Trixie to Didi as Tommy reached out for him. "It was nice of Aunt Charlotte to give us Angelica's old one. She even got it cleaned and replaced some of the frills for us."

Despite the happiness he expressed, Tommy was secretly horrified by the reveal.

Oh no! Angelica's not gonna be happy with Trixie even more now! Tommy thought, wiggling out of Stu's arms and stood in front of the bassinet.

Trixie looked down at him and giggled at how funny he looked standing near her bassinet.

Was that what Daddy meant by Tommy being her protector? If it was, he had a funny way of showing it.

She yawned just as Mommy finished putting her in her jammies, feeling herself being placed in the bassinet.

Tommy turned around and stood on his toes, reaching out for her.

Trixie grabbed his finger and the last thing she saw was him smiling warmly at her before Daddy picked him up and carried him out of the room.
