*Mal's POV*
It took a little while until Adam stopped crying in my arms, and even when he did he still stayed in my arms for a few minutes before he sat up straight and wiped his eyes with both of his hands. When he pulled his hands down, he then told me that he wanted to go back to Belle, to which I nodded as we both stood up. We then both started to walk towards the emergency department in silence, with us both very eager to get back to our family. However, when we walked into the emergency department, I saw that Evie was sitting in the cafe in the distance, she obviously was giving Belle and Ben the time they needed together. But by the concerned look on her face, I felt that I should go and see her, it wasn't just me, Adam, Belle and Ben that was being affected by this whole sorry mess.
"I'm going to see Evie" I said as I stood still, and Adam turned to look down at me.
"Ok" he nodded. "I'll see you back in there" he stated as he pursed his lips together.
"See you in there" I advised, and he gave me a meek smile once more before he turned and started to walk towards his son and wife. I watched as he walked down the corridor until he disappeared, and I then spun around and started to walk towards Evie. She was looking at something on her phone, in fact she didn't even realise that I was heading her way until I stood next to her table.
"What are you doing here?" I questioned as I stepped around the table and pulled the seat out.
"When Ben came in to see Belle, I felt like I had to give them some time-" she began as I sat down in my chair in front of her. "I came looking for you, but I saw you hugging Adam and it looked like he was crying" she added sadly.
"He was," I confirmed as a short, gingered haired woman ran up to us.
"Lady Mal" she said happily. "Would you like anything?" she enquired politely.
"Erm-" I muttered as I started to think. I know that Adam and Belle didn't mind me and Evie being there, but I think they would appreciate a little bit of time just the three of them. "Could I have a large latte please?" I questioned.
"Of course," she smiled before she quickly spun around and quickly walked towards her counter.
"I thought it was for the best that I stay out here for a little while" I advised as I pursed my lips together.
"Why?" Evie questioned in confusion.
"I'm giving Adam and Belle some time with their son-" I started. "I know they say they don't mind me being there, they don't mind you being there either" I added. "But I also think they need some time with Ben, he is their son" I told her.
"I get that" she nodded in agreement. "Can we talk about something?" she enquired but her face quickly dropped when the staff member walked back up to the pair of us and set my latte down in front of me in a takeout cup. I guessed she had put mine and Evie's both in a takeout cup as they knew that Belle was in hospital, and we could be pulled away at any time - which I thought was very considerate for her.
"Thank you" I replied as I slid my hand into my pocket and pulled out some money and gave her a ten-pound note.
"You're welcome" she smiled as I handed it over to her.
"Keep the change," I explained.
"Thank you" she smiled before leaving me and Evie.
"I know you already have so much on your mind as it is-" Evie began which made me look back over to her.
"Evie" I urged. "You are my sister" I reminded her fondly. "Of course, we can talk about everything" I added, and I watched as she nodded at me.
"Well hearing what Belle has been through has just made me realise something" she admitted as she pursed her lips together.
"What has it made you realise?" I asked in confusion.
"It made me remember the conversation we had in Olympus" she reminded me.
"Oh" I muttered as I started to remember the conversation that I shared with both Belle and Evie in Olympus. It was at this point that Belle had hinted on to the issues that she and Adam had had in the past, however now that I knew everything, I couldn't help but feel sorry for them. I knew that they had always wanted a large family, which is why I suppose Ben wanted the same. I just hoped that I was going to be able to do this for him. "About what she said about her having problems in the past" I recanted.
"Yeah" she nodded, and I watched as something changed in her eyes. I went to pull my brow up at this, but I then stopped myself when I suddenly put two and two together. Adam and Belle's situation was obviously making Evie worry about how she and Doug were going to fare.
"Evie" I said. "Is this is now making you worry about you and Doug?" I questioned.
"Yeah" she repeated. "I really don't want to take anything away from what is going on with Adam and Belle '' she added cautiously.
"You're not" I dismissed. "I would feel the same," I told her. "In fact, it has started to make me worry about how me and Ben are going to fair," I confessed. "But I am going to try and not worry about it until then," I added. "Even though it is bugging me at the moment" I admitted further. "All I want is to give Ben the children that he needs" I sighed sadly.
"And you will Mal" she insisted.
"Just like you will give Doug the children he needs" I replied.
"I hope so," she answered hopefully. I watched as Evie was just about to say something but we both stopped when we heard a voice.
"Mal" Ben said as he walked up to me and Evie.
"Yes Ben?" I answered as I started to take in the concerned look on his face. "Sorry I didn't come straight back in" I quickly apologised. "I just thought the three of you might want some space" I offered.
"That's ok baby" he smiled. "That's not why I've come looking for you," he advised. "My mother wants to speak to you," she explained. "Alone" he quickly added, and I couldn't stop my eyes widening slightly at this.
"Oh" I muttered as I started to wonder why Belle wanted to speak to me. My stomach started to twinge nervously, but I quickly pushed it away as I stood up slowly. No matter what Belle wanted to speak to me about I would be there for her - without any question.
After watching Ben sit in my seat as I stepped around the table and picked up my coffee, I couldn't help but feel sorry for my Beast. Yes, things happened when we were at school and college, but it seemed like as soon as we left fully it was just one thing after another. And to be honest I don't know how much more me and my family could take!
Before the pair of them left my sight as I walked down the corridor I watched as Evie reached over and took Ben's right hand in hers as tears started to flow down Ben's face once more. It took everything within me to not run back to him and take me in my arms, but I think that may have caused a scene - something of which I don't think anyone needed right now. No matter how painful.
When I opened the door to Belle's side room door, I noticed that Adam was sitting on the foot of Belle's bed, it looked like they were having a private moment together, so I slowly began to close the door, but Belle quickly looked over to me.
"Mal," she smiled. "Please do come in dear," she offered kindly.
"Are you sure?" I questioned.
"Of course," she nodded at me. "I'm guessing Ben found you," she added.
"Yes" I nodded back. "He said you wanted to speak to me" I recanted.
"I do," she confirmed.
"Where is he?" Adam said as he tore his eyes away from his wife and looked over to me.
"Sitting in the coffee shop with Evie," I confirmed.
"Ok" he muttered. "I'll leave you two to it" he said as he quickly stood up.
"Thank you" Belle answered and we both watched as he quickly left the room, but not before giving Belle a loving look before the door closed.
"Is everything ok?" I asked as I sat down on the seat on the right-hand side of her bed and placed my coffee down onto the hospital table next to her bed.
"As it is going to be at the moment" she advised as she readjusted herself in her bed. "The reason why I asked to speak to you is because I need to ask something of you" she confirmed. "But I feel bad about it" she admitted as concern started to show in her normally calm dark brown eyes.
"Hey!" I exclaimed as I slid both of my hands over her right hand. "You don't need to feel bad about it," I urged. "I'm here and you know you can ask anything of me" I advised.
"Thank you" she smiled. "I needed to hear that" she advised as she rolled her hand over both of mine, and she gave them a squeeze.
"Always" I said as I squeezed her hands back. "What you need to ask me?" I enquired.
"I know you will do it anyway-" she started. "But I need you to help me keep an eye on Adam and Ben," she stated. "They are under a lot of stress with the proposition" she reminded me. "We all are!" she urged. "But with this" she advised as she pointed down to her stomach with her left hand. "They both understand what could happen" she said as she pursed her lips together. "I really hope I don't lose them" she said sadly as her voice broke.
"Belle don't concentrate on that," I urged. "Concentrate on staying healthy and bringing these little Beasts into the world" I told her calmly. "I can't wait to meet them" I smiled at her and I watched as she smiled back at me.
"I know you and Adam probably don't mind-" I began, hoping to take her away from her current distress of losing her babies. "But do you have a preference for what you are having, boy or girl?" I questioned.
"You are right," she agreed. "We both don't mind," she advised as she looked down lovingly at her stomach. "However-" she stated, and I watched as the smile dropped from her face. "Both of my stillbirths were girls," she confessed sadly.
"I see" I said as I noted that Ben nearly had two sisters.
"Me and Adam have talked about it" I heard her say, which pulled me out of my train of thought. "Whether we want to continue with the pregnancy" she continued. "I know that sounds bad," she quickly added, defending what she had just said. In all honesty I didn't know how me, and Ben would react if we were in this situation, and Lucifer help us that we never are! But I knew whatever decision that Adam and Belle chose then that was going to be their right, they had their reasons, and no one had a right to judge them for it.
"It doesn't" I dismissed. "Yes, it is nice to have a baby" I said. "But at the same time after everything that the pair of you have been through, it would be understandable if you decided to go the other way" I advised.
"Thank you for being so understanding," she replied as she squeezed my hands once more. "But me and Adam have decided to see what happens, we don't want to live with 'what if" she announced. "I will say though-" she added. "As we are older parents, we will need your and Ben's help" she advised.
"Of course," I smiled. "It will be weird to say I've changed my brother or sister in law's nappy," I chuckled.
"Yes" she chuckled back. "That might be weird to say," she agreed.
"You know what sounds even weirder?" I asked.
"What?" she answered.
"When they are around three or four-" I started. "They will be growing up with their nieces or nephews" I admitted as I started to think about how active the castle is going to be with little Beasts running around.
"Really?" Belle asked slowly in shock.
"Between us Belle?" I questioned.
"Always" she smiled at me.
"Me and Ben have a plan-" I began. "That we want a couple of years on our own, as we have been kept apart for so long" I added. "Then we will start trying" I stated.
"I see," she noted. "You two seem to have talked a lot about your life together," she added.
"Yeah" I agreed. "We've had to," I added. "We both wanted to know what we both wanted" I stated.
"What have you decided?" she asked.
"To go with the flow mainly" I replied. "But Ben has told me that he wants a big family," I told her. "I can only try," I meekly smiled.
"You will do your best, Mal," she urged. "And I do get what you mean," she advised. "These two will be growing up with your and Ben's little ones, something I know that Adam will very much like the sound of. As I do" she clarified.
"Me too" I advised, and we both smiled at each other once more.
"Can I have a hug Mal?" she asked.
"Of course Belle" I answered back politely. "Like you ever have to ask" I advised as I slowly stood up. "I'll never say no to a hug from my mother" I added, and I watched as a meek grin spread across her face as she slid back slightly on her bed to give me room to get closer to her. I then carefully sat on the edge of the bed and opened my arms out and she snuggled her head against my left shoulder as I wrapped my arms around her.
"This is what I need" I heard her mutter. "A cuddle from you" she said happily. "I've had my cuddle from Adam, from Ben. And this just finishes it" she added contently. "Mal you are a big part of our lives, please never forget that" she stressed as she slowly looked up at me.
"I know that Belle" I returned kindly. "You and Adam are a big part of my family" I told her fondly. "Thank you for letting me in," I added.
"No thank you Mal" she insisted. "For giving us all what we need" she smiled at me.
"Always Belle" I answered back as she rested her head back against me once more. "Always" I muttered. We both then fell into a silence as we enjoyed having this mother and daughter moment, yes it did feel quite special - I just wished that it was in better circumstances.
I don't know how long me and Belle were sitting in silence before we heard the door open and when we both looked over, we saw a hopeful looking Adam step into the doorway.
"Oh" he muttered. "Sorry" he quickly apologised.
"Don't be" I dismissed with a smile. "It would appear I'm giving a lot of hugs today" I added as I watched as he stepped into the room, with both Ben and Evie following him. "I don't mind, I like hugs" I stated.
"Don't I know it!" Ben teased as they all dropped into the same chairs that they had been in before.
"Hey!" I exclaimed as I threw him a look to feign hurt.
"You know what I mean," Ben grinned at me. "My Mally loves cuddles" he purred and out of the corner of my eye I saw Evie smirk at this.
"Yes I do" I confirmed. "And so do you Beast" I teased, and I watched as the grin got larger on his face.
"Darn right I do" he chuckled. "Have you seen my fiancé?" he winked at me.
"Yeah" I nodded playing along. "She is a very lucky woman" I smirked at him.
"I'll tell her that next time I see her," he said, mock seriously.
"You should" I answered back in the same playful tone. "She needs to hear it every once in a while" I smirked once more, and I watched as he winked at me before he quickly stood up and pressed a quick and brief kiss against my lips.
"Behave you two" Adam chuckled as Ben sat back down into his seat.
"Nah!" I advised as I pulled a funny face at him, which made him smile at me. "I can't help it if I'm in love with your son Adam" I told him and I couldn't help but grin when I watched Adam wink at me.
"And I can't help it either Father" I heard Ben say, which made me look over to Ben to see him look back at me. "Mal is so perfect," he said happily. "And I can't imagine living my life without her," he added lovingly.
"Me neither Benny" I answered. "I don't want that" I pouted, and I watched as his eyes widened as he quickly stood up and he pressed another kiss against my lips.
"You did that on purpose" he chuckled as he stepped away and sat back down.
"No, I didn't" I answered back as I realised why Ben had just kissed me.
"What's going on?" Evie asked in confusion.
"Well, the thing is E-" I started as I looked over to her. "Ben states that every time I pout, he feels the need to kiss me" I advised.
"I see" she noted as she meekly nodded at this. "So, I can see why you would sometimes tease him about that" she added with a smirk, which made me wink back at her.
"Of course, she will tease me!" Ben exclaimed. "She's a very playful Dragon," he added playfully.
"And you are a very playful Beast" I teased back.
"Yep" he smiled as he rested his head on my lap. The room then fell into silence once more as I started to run my fingers through Ben's hair as Belle continued to cuddle into me. And the longer the silence went on the more I hoped that things were going to be ok, and that Belle and the twins pull through - and I just hoped that this was going to be the case. The twins are already a part of our lives, and I couldn't wait to meet them - our special little Beasts.
A little while later we all heard a knock on the door before Doctor Cameron entered the room. He explained that he came to check on Belle again, when I heard him say this I slowly and carefully stood up which made Belle lie back against her bed. Me, Ben and Evie then went to excuse ourselves, but Belle quickly told us that she wanted the three of us to say. So, with this being said Evie moved a seat along so I could sit in between her and Ben.
We all then watched as Doctor Cameron then took all of Belle's observations once more, and when he finished, he told us all that they had improved slightly. However, they hadn't improved enough to the point where he felt comfortable in discharging Belle just yet. He then explained that he wanted to keep Belle in for tonight at least to which Adam and Belle both nodded at this, and Adam then added that he was going to stay by Belle's side.
After Doctor Cameron left Adam and Belle then asked what me, Ben and Evie were going to do this evening. Evie explained that she was just going to go home and work for her interview with Madam Kield. She then quickly offered that she could come back after packing a bag and stay with me in my wing, which made me, and Ben look at each other. I loved that me and Ben were just so in sync that we both knew what was on each other's eyes, and I could tell by the hopeful look in his eyes he was hoping that we were going to going to be able to spend the night together. I started to think about the risk of losing Ben if we did this, but I then quickly dismissed this. Me and Ben needed to be together in times like this, so with this in mind I nodded at this, and told Evie that it wasn't necessary.
Adam then asked why, and Ben then told everyone that given what was currently happening we both wanted to spend tonight together. Concern swept over Adam, Belle and Evie's faces before Belle urged that we had to be careful. We both promised that we were going to be, just after today we wanted to keep each other close. Ben then stated that he thinks that the council would understand if they found out about this situation, as the 'Order' wouldn't be involved then he wouldn't think that it wouldn't be an issue. I couldn't help but sigh in relief when both Adam and Belle agreed with Ben, and I really hoped that this was going to be the case if we had to tell the council. As me and Ben losing each other was never going to come into the equation - me and Ben would see to that.
