Chapter 8:Driver's License
"Oh please, Jean ! We've only just met. I don't even know him.",exclaimed Sacagawea to her son.
The sidewalks that ran alongside Central Park were empty, with only few waiting for the bus or out for an early jog along the path. The sun was beginning to heat up the sidewalk. They made their way to the car, Sacagawea got in the driver's seat while Jean got into the passenger's seat. The two buckled their seatbelts. As Sacagawea signaled, a cab paused giving them room to pull out. Sacagawea then drove off away from Central Park. The mother and son were silent for a few minutes as the song, "Driver's License" by Olivia Rodrigo, was playing on the car radio. While the song was on, everything seemed fun. Seeing the horse and buggy rides, passing by Rockefeller Center, they headed downtown with virtually no stops for traffic or lights.
Jean quickly realized that they were passing by his Dad's neighborhood, where he now lived with his girlfriend. It wasn't as scenic as uptown but he knew it changed the mood in the car. After his parents divorced, his Dad moved out to the neighborhood that he lives in. He looked outside to count each house as the car moved along. His mom continued on but as he was counting he heard crying from the driver's seat. He turned to look from the passenger's seat to see what was happening next to him. He could see that his mom was crying,
"Mom, are you okay?",asked Jean.
either that if his mom was crying over the song or them passing through the neighborhood
"I'm okay...",responded Sacagawea.
She let out a sniff as they continued driving. This time they were headed for home.
Meanwhile with Teddy and his father were, also ,driving from Central Park. When they had then have stopped by the famous "Empire ", a local diner to get something to eat. While the both of them were at the diner looking through the menu, while they sat the table quietly. They were silent for a little, until Teddy's father starts to speak,
"So Teddy, who was that?"
That is when Teddy stopped looking through his menu and look up,
"Who was what?",asked Teddy.
"That girl that you were talking with. I want to know who is that is . I want to be part of everything you do",asked Teddy's father.
"Oh it's not like a friend or anything, we just accidentally ran into each other.",said Teddy.
"Oh, but son, I realized that you have been made eye contact.",said Teddy's Dad
"Yes,why?",asked Teddy.
"I think you have a crush on this woman." ,observed Teddy's father with a smirk on his face.
"No, I do not. We were just being friendly." ,emphasized Teddy.
