Invasion of the teething babies
Tommy hadn't been near this park since the day he defeated the junk food kid at her own game, popping her bubblegum bubble with the bottom half of a candy cane.
But his mommy was busy with final exam stuff so Grandpa Lou took the opportunity to take him and a teething Trixie back to this park.
Tommy felt bad that he couldn't help his baby sister but knew Grandpa Lou would take care of her now that a new medication he was taking made him more energetic.
"Hi Tommy. It's been a long time since you've been here," Belinda smiled.
Tommy took off his cowboy hat and bowed. "Hello Belinda. It has been a long time hasn't it?" He frowned, seeing a girl beside her rub her eyes. "Prudence, you look like you're ready to go home for nap nap time. Are you okay?"
Prudence shook her head. "My little brother Andy started teething yesterday night and now he won't stop crying."
"My little sister Trixie won't start crying either and she started when I woke up this morning," Tommy frowned. "Do you think there are lots of teething babies out there?"
"No. I checked the playground before you got here Tommy and it's mostly lonely children with no brothers or sisters," Belinda said.
"I just hope it's not an invasion like I saw on tv once," Prudence shuddered.
Tommy looked baffled, putting back on his cowboy hat. "Like people from outside space?"
"I think so but then Mommy put on the Dummi Bears so I didn't know what happened next."
"Oh. Well that doesn't mean we can't try to stop the invasion."
"With what Tommy?" Belinda asked. "There isn't anything chewy here in the playground."
Tommy looked around, smiling as he spotted Pinky in Trixie's diaper bag and sprinted towards the toy before showing it to his friends.
"Maybe something soft will help!" He suggested. "Prudence, does your brother have anything soft he liked to drool on before he gots teeth?"
Prudence thought for a bit then smiled softly. "He has a blue dinosaur toy some friend of Mommy's got him before he was born. Would that work?"
"Is it soft?"
"Yes. And plushy."
"That'll work!" Tommy grinned.
"Good luck you two!" Belinda grinned.
"Thank you Goldielocks," Prudence smirked.
Belinda giggled at the playful nickname as she watched her friends go to their respective siblings.
"What you got there Scout?" Grandpa Lou asked as Tommy approached with Pinky in his hands. "Oh I see! You're trying to help your sister too aren't you?"
Tommy babbled, smiling as Trixie reached for Pinky before giving it to her.
He could see Prudence doing the same thing with her brother and his toy, clapping his hands happily seeing his sister no longer crying and eventually falling asleep in Grandpa Lou's arms.
Crisis averted with no invasion to be much to the dismay of a nonexistent jelly bean shaped baby.
