Meeting Doggie

Trixie sighed miserably as she stared out the window.

Daddy had taken Doggie to the vet for a check up for what seemed like forever as she'd been staring at the window wistfully since they left earlier that morning.

"You miss Spike too?" Tommy asked. Seeing her nod, he sat down next to her. "Mommy said that he'd be back with Daddy soon. Trixie, do you remember how you and Spiky met?"

Trixie shook her head, giggling a little."Tommy! I was a baby baby then. A really little baby baby."

"Well I do. Grandpa and Uncle Drew were watching me and you just got back home from the hopsicle with Mommy and Daddy…"

Tommy had woken up from his nap when the doorbell rang.

He smiled, babbling happily as Grandpa Lou opened the door and Uncle Drew held him in his arms.

"Congratulations little brother. Mom would've been honored having her granddaughter named after her," Uncle Drew smiled.

"Thank you big bro. I'm just happy to be home. It was too quiet at that hospital," Stu smiled.

Tommy squealed, clapping his hands as Spike sprinted towards the front door, sniffing the mysterious newcomer.

"Down Spike! Heal before you hurt her!" Grandpa Lou chastised.

"It's okay, Pop. He only wants to get to know Trixie," Didi smiled. "Isn't that right Spike?"

Spike braked happily, waving his tail as he sat down and sniffed Trixie once again who sleepily reached out for him.

"That a good story but I still miss Spiky," Trixie whimpered.

"Deed! Tommy! Trixie! We're home!"

The two infants looked towards their daddy and giggled as Spike nuzzled against them, wagging his tail happily.

"Spiky!" Trixie squealed.

"We missed you!" Tommy giggled.

"Spike missed you two too," Stu smiled.

"I think they already know that honey," Didi mused. "Trixie was looking out the window all morning for Spike, waiting for him to come back."

"Was she?"

Didi smiled, watching her children play happily with Spike who seemed to enjoy all the attention he was getting.

"She and Tommy would do anything for him. He's their best friend Stu and nothing can change that."
