A mommy's touch

Just him and his daddy.

Chuckie liked the sound of it.

Not that Trixie, Tommy, Phil, and Lil weren't fun but sometimes he needed a change of pace from scary adventures.

"Hey little guy," Chas smiled, taking him in his arms. "Guess it's just you and me today huh?"

Chuckie babbled happily, laying his head on Chas' shoulder.

Chas chuckled, patting his son on the back as he carried him into the kitchen and put him in his high chair.

It wasn't easy raising Chuckie on his own since Melinda passed but he wouldn't trade it for anything else in the world.

Still there were times Chas wished he had someone with him when things got difficult as he gave Chuckie his breakfast.

He sighed, eating his own breakfast in silence.

Giving Chuckie his blocks to play with as he cleaned up their breakfast, Chas stared at the empty chair where Melinda used to sit.

He hasn't had the heart to put it in storage after her passing as it would hurt him too much.

Everything hurt too much though he wouldn't admit it to anyone else.

As the dishes were drying, he joined Chuckie on the floor and smiled as he was handed a block.

"Chuckie, what do you think about having a mommy around here?" Chas asked.

The toddler could only shrug but smiled at the idea, handing him another block.

Chas' smile widened, taking the second block and placed it on the other, hearing Chuckie giggle.

It sounded trivial but if he could find a mom for his son, someone who cared enough to understand that they were a team, then Chas would have his life complete.

He'd find that someone someday but for the time being, spending quality time with his son was what made his world complete.

Chuckie especially enjoyed their time together, climbing into his lap as the two of them continued building with the blocks until his afternoon nap where the toddler dreamed of a mommy who loved both him and his daddy equally.
