Charlotte and Trixie
With Drew at work and Angelica at day camp where she seemed to be actually enjoying it this time around after Cynthia P. I. was brought to her attention, it gave Charlotte the opportunity to spend the day doing something she'd rarely did.
Spending time with her brother-in law's children.
Except for Tommy who was screaming his lungs out the moment she arrived, still cranky from the booster shots given to him the previous day while Trixie stared at her, holding her arms out to be held.
Charlotte obliged, taking the infant in her arms and walked her upstairs to her and Tommy's room.
"You know Trixie before you were born, we all thought you were going to be a boy," The Mega Crop CEO recalled. "We dodged that bullet huh?"
Trixie cooed, clapping her hands in agreement.
"Trixie, I wanted to talk to you about something. You may not understand it and that's okay. I—" Charlotte sighed, hearing her cell phone ring. Declining the call, knowing Jonathan and his inconvenience around the workplace, she turned to her niece, picked her up, and sat down in her rocking chair. "Your Uncle Drew and I were talking to your mommy and daddy recently about… About adoption."
Adopt sun? Another Tommy? Trixie thought, having mixed feelings with the words her aunt were saying.
"Unlike your mommy, I can't have another baby as doing so can hurt me and the last time I tried, it didn't go as well as I thought," Charlotte recalled, sparing the gory details about her last pregnancy for her and Trixie's sake. "What do you say to having another cousin who might look a little different from us but will be considered part of the family?"
Trixie liked the idea of having a new friend as she gave her aunt a small smile, showing off her bottom teeth.
Whatever adoption was, she was liking it already.
"It'll be a long process for your Uncle Drew and I and we'll have to make a few sacrifices but we'll get there," Charlotte smiled. She stroked her niece's curls, bouncing her on her knee. "You're a really good listener sweetheart. Thank you so much for listening to me rambling on something you're not old enough to understand quite yet. I truly appreciate it."
Trixie squealed, clapping her hands in response as she laid on Charlotte's chest and went to sleep.
