Sarah: here's chapter 4 of Outside Looking In. Glad everyone seems to be enjoying what I'm creating here. On with the review replies and then the chapter. This Chapter is from Alaric's perspective, which I'm sure will make some people very happy.

Leann Nickerson: yeah, Jeremy knows he can't outrun Damon but he did his best. Here's Ric's first chapter.

amazing Aisha: yeah, so far, Jeremy's the one who's seen the most action between the lovebirds. But he won't be the only one walking in on them in this fanfic. And yeah, even in the show, you can see a kind of brotherly love between Jeremy and Damon so I had to include it. Enjoy Ric's chapter.

Guest Meghan: agreed. I don't even like thinking about my sisters and their husbands. Glad you seemed to like it. Here's more.

shnicky87: Jer knows who the real Elena is better than anyone. He lived with her. Of course he'd approve of the guy who would bring back his real sister.

Caza: I write the chapters as I get muse for that perspective. I do hope to at least get Klaus' view on the relationship between Elena and Damon somewhere in here.

idontfeelsowell: I find I love them too, but coming up for muse on character viewpoints I don't write from too much is hard. Hence the long dry spell on this story.

Guest of Chapter 3: yes, you were promised smut. And you guys will get smut soon enough. But that won't be for a couple more viewpoints as people catch them in increasingly compromising positions in places they really should know better than to be in those positions in.

Chapter 4
She's Like a Daughter to Me

She's like a daughter to me. Technically, she is my step-daughter, since her mother became my wife several years after giving her up. But that's beside the point. After getting to know her, I only want her happiness.

He's the vampire whose actions took my wife from me. But after finding out Isobel's true nature, he and I grew to be best friends, though he likes to refer to us as 'drinking buddies'. He's not the sentimental sort by any definition of the word.

I have watched them for nearly two years now and have seen that while I consider him my best friend, his best friend is her. She had also won his heart and he hers. She brought the human within him back out from behind the monstrous façade he had carried for so long.

All he needed was a good heart to believe in him. It's right there for anyone to see if they would open up their eyes. Her heart is pure as solid gold and she decided, for whatever reason, to believe in the good in him. She believed he could be a good guy and he set about proving her right.

Sure, he's slipped back into his old ways a time or two, but she just kept believing in him, even when she was completely fed up with his actions. And now his old bad habits are pretty much a thing of the past.

But still, walking into The Grill of all places and seeing the two of them like that? "Not cool, Damon," I call over to them, where they're in a heavy make-out session with her seated on one of the pool tables. Her hair is a complete mess from his fingers and her shirt would be showing off her right breast if his hand wasn't right there on it. He's not in much better shape than she is. "What if someone else had walked in and saw this scene?"

Elena jerks away from Damon and quickly makes herself as decent as she can (her hair is a lost cause without a brush) while Damon growls low in his throat, shooting a glare at me that promises retribution the next time we have a sparring session. "Sorry buddy, but I know you don't want her being exposed to the entire town and the place is going to start filling up very soon," I call with a laugh as I make my way to my usual seat at the bar, where a scotch was placed as soon as I walked in. I'm getting too predictable.

Yeah, she's like a daughter to me and he's my best friend. I don't want the fact that they get lost in each other to lead them to public indecency that would end up with Liz writing them both tickets. A father and best friend would do what he can to prevent that, right?

Sarah: and there is the very short Chapter 4 that I came up with in about fifteen minutes. Sorry guys, but I can't think of too much more to add that to this chapter of Ric's.
