This was strangely hard to write. hopefully I conveyed enough.

I blinked at the bright sunshine and inhaled the familiar scent of pine and fresh air.

"Come on Chloe, you don't want to be late" my mother chimed from the doorway. I frowned as I sat up in the hammock and gently ran my fingers over the rope-like material. Something didn't feel quite right but I couldn't put my finger on it. It was like I had just woken up from a deep sleep instead of a nap. The sunshine was very bright, but it didn't seem to hold much warmth. I held my hands up in the air and inspected them. Normal, I suppose. I mean, my hands looked like hands.

"Chloe" My mother's voice came again with little hint of sternness in it.

"Coming" I responded still looking around feeling weird. I couldn't remember what she was calling me for either. Late to what?

I stood up after a moment more of consideration before striding to the back yard door.

"Where are we going?" I asked stepping into the house feeling a strange anxiety about talking. How unusual. Wasn't I talkative?

Everything looked the same, but also like a dream. I really needed to stop taking naps if this was the result.

"Your father is taking you to the movie theatre" My mom answered looking like she wanted to roll her eyes. I loved the movie theatre. That was typical wasn't it. To go to the movies with my dad and then get food or was it food and then movies? Almost felt like I was trying to remember another life, but that would be ridiculous.

"You better rush your father so you both aren't late" She sighed glancing towards their bedroom where my dad was watching TV. I nodded and went that way. My dad was easy to convince and before I knew it we were in the car. A blue car. I frowned in consternation. Didn't he have a black car. I closed my eyes and leaned my head into the window.

"you okay, sweetheart?" My dad asked putting his hand on my shoulder. I made an affirmative noise and settled deeper into the car seat. I opened my mouth to say something and then frowned with a grimace.

It took almost no time for us to arrive at the theatre. The smell of popcorn was so good. Even outside. I waited impatiently for my dad to hurry up and get out of the car. I cocked my head the tall guy who was ordering tickets ahead of us. I had never seen someone so tall before. He was even taller than my dad who was 6 ft. Such dark hair too. That couldn't be dye could it?

I let out a gasp of horror as he turned, and his eyes were solid black. I stepped backwards into my dad who gave me a concerned look. My voice worked for a minute struggling to come out as I felt terror at speaking for some inexplicable reason.

"His eyes" I gasped whipping around and pointing. However, the tall man was gone. I looked around trying to steady my pounding heart. I must be imagining things and he must have gone inside already. I shivered looking around wishing the sun was warmer.

I went to get popcorn with my dad in an almost robotic fashion and nodded when he asked what I wanted to drink. He rolled his eyes at me and just got me a coca cola. What movie were we seeing again? For some reason my eyes couldn't really seem to make out the names of movies or even the posters, but it felt like I was seeing everything correctly. It's a weird sensation and more than a little alarming. Something just wasn't right here. I had to figure out what.
