Day 7- Anakin, Ahsoka, + Rex Looking at the Stars
Ahsoka flopped down on the grass and let out a deep breath. "Please don't make me get up, Skyguy…because I won't."
Rex chuckled and sat down beside her. "Don't worry, kid. I'm not too interested in moving either; he can't make both of us."
Anakin rolled his eyes. "Technically I could, as general. But," he said as he stretched and sat down by the two. "I'm tired too. So, you're in luck."
"Good for us," Rex said laying down. "We struck gold, Commander."
"Lucky us," Ahsoka sighed.
"Lucky indeed," Anakin said. "Mind if I join?" He laid down too.
"This is pretty nice," Ahsoka mused. "I wouldn't have thought this could be so freeing."
"Well at least you know what to expect when laying on grass," Rex snorted. "I still have no idea what to expect."
Anakin chuckled. "That use to happen to me. And honestly, it still does sometimes. It's pretty bizarre."
"The other thing that surprises me," Rex continued. "Is the stars. I mean, you can see them -and the whole sky- so clearly! On Kamino it would always be so cloudy, and the air over Coruscant is horrible too. I love to see the stars. It's amazing…"
Ahsoka nodded. "I agree. I don't remember living anywhere but Coruscant, and even though the Temple is on the upper levels, the view isn't always the best. And these constellations are different anyway. It's all so wonderful! I mean, look at these!" She pointed up to the sky, and gestured to everything. "Especially the really bright stars that really seem to twinkle. Or even the small ones that seem to blink on and off? I love them so much."
Anakin laughed. "I didn't know you liked the stars so much, Snips. Maybe when we're back at the temple I'll have to take you to the tallest tower and we can see what we'll see from up there."
"I'd like that," Ahsoka smiled. "That would be nice."
"Kind of makes me wish I could go," Rex sighed.
"No reason you couldn't," Anakin shrugged. "No rules say you can't."
"I know," Rex said. "But the looks I'd get would be annoying, and I'd rather not deal with that. Besides, if I can be getting sleep, then that's where I'll be."
"Yeah, and while you're sleeping, I'll be getting an astronomy lesson from Skyguy, not sleeping," Ahsoka jested. "I'll never recover from the lost sleep."
"Sometimes having you as a padawan is regretful when I realize how dramatic you've become; how did I let that happen?" Anakin asked.
"You taught me, and I learned, as a good padawan does," Ahsoka retorted. "I'm doing my duty."
"Being dramatic isn't part of your duty, Snips."
"I'll stop when you stop, Skyguy!"
Rex rolled his eyes. "Perhaps when the stars twinkle it's really just them arguing over something meaningless."
"That's awfully poetic and philosophical of you, Rex," Anakin commented, turning his attention to the captain. "Maybe you should tell it to Snips."
"I heard it just fine, Master," Ahsoka pouted. "And I quite agree with Rex. They probably are trying to figure out how best to fulfill their duties as stars."
"Now you've put weird ideas into her head, Rex!" Anakin groaned. "She'll never let me forget it."
"This is why I stay on her good side, sir, with all due respect," Rex stated. "Seems much safer."
Ahsoka chuckled. "Seems I'm a star among men."
Anakin groaned. "Be glad I care about you, Snips."
"I am," Ahsoka smiled.
