Chapter 1

Bella POV

Bella just stared at her friend, Alice, in shock. After the last two times that she set Bella up on blind dates she had some guts to try it again.

"Are you serious?" She asked in disbelief.

"I promise that this one is better, this guy is perfect for you. He's tall, has amazing hair, funny, and incredibly good looking," Alice told her.

"Then what's wrong with him?" She asked. There had to be something; like a lazy eye or he smelled funny. Bella couldn't see an amazing guy like that being single in college if there wasn't something seriously wrong with him.

"Nothing, he just doesn't date much." Bella eyed her suspiciously.

"What aren't you telling me?" She suspected that there was more to the story than Alice was letting on.

The two of them were in their apartment that was just off of campus. Bella had been getting homework done in the living room when Hurricane Alice blew through and she had to put all of her focus on stopping her before she did too much damage.

Alice was quiet for a few moments before she muttered something under her breath. "Excuse me?" Bella asked her and motioned for her to speak up. Alice took a deep breath before repeating herself.

"It's Edward Cullen."

"Edward Cullen as in Playboy Cullen?" Bella was referring to the nickname that Edward had rightfully received at UW. He was known for having a different girl around him every week and Bella did not want to be just another notch on his belt.

"Yes, but Jasper swears that he isn't doing that anymore and we both think that the two of you would be so good for each other," Alice told Bella. Jasper was Alice's long time boyfriend - they'd been dating for over three years now - Bella would never tell Alice this but she yearned for that kind of relationship with someone. She wanted to be able to find her other half as if it was just that easy but she didn't think that that person was going to be Playboy Cullen.

She also would never tell Alice that she had had a crush on Edward when they were both freshmen. Bella was just starting at UW - she hadn't known anyone when she started at this college. It made her nervous but she couldn't be happier to leave the small town of Forks behind and spread her wings even if it meant getting out of her comfort zone.

She had just turned the corner to go into her dorm building when she ran straight into a hard surface and dropped her box full of her belongings on the ground. A few things spilled out - a few books and her phone charger - but when she saw who she had run into all thoughts had flew from her mind.

He was gorgeous. Taller than her measly 5'2'' - she came to just his shoulder - with a head of copper colored hair that just screamed for her to run her fingers through it. He had beautiful green eyes that she wanted to lose herself in and lips that were just oh so kissable.

She stood staring at him for a couple moments before she realized what she was doing and then bent down to retrieve her items. He bent down with her and helped scoop up the few items and put them in the box and then put the box in her arms for her. She gasped when his fingers touched her arms - a spark went through her as if she was just shocked. He smiled at her in a way that made her think that he had felt the same spark.

"I'm sorry for knocking into you like that," he murmured. He had a velvety voice that made her want to close her eyes and just listen to him talk. She shook herself out of the stupor that this man had put her into before she would scare him away.

"It's okay, it was more than likely my fault. I'm extremely klutzy," she explained to him. "I'm Bella," she told him.

"I'm Edward," he responded. They smiled at each other for a few seconds before he was called away - he looked at her almost apologetically. "I have to go but maybe I'll see you later?" He asked her.

"Yeah, maybe." She watched him walking away, loving the way his ass looked in those jeans.

She admired him from afar for a couple months before she realized what he was really like. He flew from woman to woman and never seemed to care about who he hurt along the way. She couldn't stand those kinds of men - she had her heart broken by one of those kinds of guys in high school. She wasn't going to fall for the likes of him again.

Now a little more than three years later Bella couldn't allow herself to hope that he had changed - she didn't want to get her heart broken by him.

She shook the memory off as she looked at Alice who was begging her with her lips pouting and her big eyes just pleading with her.

"Alice, there is no way that he changed so much from just three months ago. He was dating Tanya at the end of last year, remember? I'm nothing compared to her and he'll probably just walk out of the date when he realizes that it's me," she told Alice.

Alice just shook her head before cocking her head to the side. "You never see yourself clearly, do you? You are beautiful - I'm serious, if I swung for that team I would definitely be into you." Bella rolled her eyes at that before Alice continued. "But he is different this year, he's actually been asking about you for a while now but since you were with Jake nothing could happen."

Ah, yes, Jacob Black.

She met Jacob Black at the beginning of their junior year and immediately hit it off with him. They seemed like they had so much in common and Bella fell in love with him almost immediately. The only problem in their seemingly perfect relationship was that Jacob could be very possessive and towards the end of the year it had started to get to the point that it was scaring her. Her father was the Chief of Police in Forks so he had taught her to defend herself but she didn't want to put herself in that position so she ended up breaking things off with Jacob.

He hadn't taken it well but since it was the last week of school she knew that she wouldn't be seeing much of him. He had called her nonstop and even tried to get into the apartment but she persisted. She wasn't going to let him get to her - he could be very sweet and charming when he wanted to be - and she knew that if she had a conversation with him she would be right back under his spell.

School ended and she went back to Forks for the summer and eventually contact with Jacob died down and even a month into their senior year she hadn't heard a peep from him.

"What if I don't want to date right now? I just got out of a long relationship and I don't want someone telling me what to do," she said.

"Bella, Edward would never treat you like he did. Every girl that Edward went out with knew what he was like, he never lied to them or led them on. At least give him a chance, just one date," Alice pleaded.

"What do I get out of it?" Bella asked her jokingly.

"I won't ask to play Bella Barbie for...two months," Alice said.

Bella froze in her chair. Alice knew her too well, she knew how much Bella hated when Alice would dress her up for all of her outings and do her hair and makeup. It was an offer that Bella couldn't refuse and Alice had known that.

"Three months," Bella negotiated.

"Two and a half," Alice renegotiated.

Bella paused while she thought through everything in her head. One date. It couldn't be that awful and Edward was nice to her whenever they would end up in the same place. He never treated her like she was just another girl that was after him. They even had a couple of conversations about her real love; books. The date couldn't be that bad.

"Okay." Alice squealed so loudly that Bella had to cover her ears with her hands.

"When is this date?" She asked Alice. Bella picked up her pencil so she could resume her English homework.

"Tonight."

"What?!" Bella froze once again and looked at Alice in shock. "Why tonight?"

"Because we didn't want to give you the chance to change your mind so you better start getting ready." Alice pulled Bella to her room.

"You promised no Bella Barbie," Bella reminded Alice halfheartedly.

"Yes, I did. But that promise starts tomorrow, tonight I am dressing you up!" She clapped her hands together and motioned for Bella to sit down in her desk chair while she rifled through her closet.

Tonight was going to be a long night.

Edward POV

Edward had just gotten in from his last class of the day when he was stopped by Jasper before he could even put his bag down by the door.

"Dude, I got you that date," Jasper said.

Edward was confused for a moment before he realized what Jasper was talking about.

"With Bella?"

"The one and only," he said. Edward smiled at that, he had been trying to get her attention ever since freshman year but he thought that she hadn't liked him at all. They were civil towards each other but Edward thought that was just because of their mutual friends, Alice and Jasper. He thought she was just being a good sport and didn't want to make any of their outings awkward.

At the beginning of last year he finally snapped and asked Jasper if there was any way that she would be interested in him. That's when Jasper told him why she acted like she hated him - she didn't like his player ways. He told himself that he was going to make himself better - he would be just the guy that she needed - but then she started dating Jacob Black and when he noticed how happy she seemed he thought that his chances with her were done for.

With a heavy heart he went back to his old ways and eventually started dating Tanya Denali towards the end of the year. Before the school year ended he broke up with her knowing that he would never feel for her what he had felt when he was around Bella. He didn't know what he was going to do and then he heard the greatest news ever - Bella had broken up with Jacob.

So it began Edward's summer to make himself into a better man. He would prove to Bella that he could be the man that she deserved - he just had to get her on a date. He somehow knew that if he asked her she would say no so he asked Jasper for his help.

"How did you do it?" Edward asked him.

"Alice tried to make it seem like a blind date but when that didn't work she had to promise her something that Bella couldn't refuse. So go get ready because you are going to pick her up in two hours."

"What? A date on a Wednesday night?"

"Alice knew that if she gave Bella time to think she would change her mind and make up some excuse so we had to strike while she was willing."

Edward just shook his head at that before going to his room. He wasn't going to deny a chance to take Bella Swan out on a date - he just needed to make sure that it was the best first date that she had ever gone on.

And he knew just where to take her.
