A victory would be empty if we did not show off! All of us had been cooped up while monitoring Starfire's amnesia so a night out was over due and their was plenty of cash to blow. Though it would not be without some babysitting as Starfire was not stable or trusted enough to be left alone.
Angel had managed to take her shopping using all of her patience most likely but it was unclear who truly had more bags. Starfire returned more in sorts. It was a glimpse at the bubbly Starfire that seemed to fill the Tower with her energy way back when. I guess the love of shopping was ingrained in her. Though she did have questionable choices of neon and clunky jewelry. She was kind of like an 80s throwback if left alone.
Luckily Angel had stepped in it seemed and got her some more neutral clothes. Though Angel was vocally appalled by her bag of Men's joggers and sweatshirts. Though Starfire seemed quite attached to her choices. It could not be mistaken some of her color choices were matching her former boyfriend.
She had declined Seemore's request of a fashion show and went up to the roof to recharge. Her metabolism was impossible to understand. She was like a plant who needed plenty of sunlight, but had 7 stomachs that always seemed to be hungry. Though it was unclear how she was compensating with her near constant blood loss. The boys ordered a new Scream mask since apparently the dried blood had fused it to her head and she had to melt it completely off.
She had seemed as strong as ever when she was fighting her former teammates, but I couldn't help wondering what the shard in her head was actually doing to her. I would be dead with a similar injury. She had gotten a little physically thinner, her hair often stained half purple, but there had to be something else she was holding back.
I had meant to ask what was going on, but that was more personal than I was really wanting to get with her. I was already dealing with gunk in my conscience about using her without her memories. That gunk was getting thicker as she had spent yet another night in my room. She had fallen asleep the moment she landed her head on her covered pillow so I had not gotten the chance to kick her out. I was quite uncomfortable having someone else in my bed. She was too warm and I was still a little worried she could kill me in her sleep.
I stayed out on the couch and binged watched Stranger Things until my eyes could rest easily. I had not been getting truly restful sleep lately. I had been getting more hours in, but that was a clear sign of quantity over quality. I had woken up in my own bed after I drifted with the door locked which was a clear sign of Starfire.
I did not want to start anything before going out, but I was close to snapping if she did not give me space. It was smothering to me at least. I had somewhat hoped she would transfer some of her attention and time to Angel after their shopping trip, but she respected Kyd Wykkyd's unspoken boundaries. She did not cling or touch her unnecessarily. She gave her the same space she gave Wykkyd.
She had no qualms invading Mammoths or mine's space. She had instantly taken a foot between her and Billy once hearing about his girlfriend back home. Mammoth was more of a familial bond, but she treated me differently. Maybe my lack of friendships growing up stunted my expectations, but she obviously treated me differently than everyone else in the house. I had at first assumed it was due to me being the only girl, but with her distance from Angel it made less sense.
"Jinx is this better?" Starfire asked coming out of the bathroom once again in a new outfit. She had not quite understood what we meant by club. She thought it was a place people got hit and wore lots of layers for padding. It was a bit too many clothes than were allowed by the club's dress code. The dress code was part of why we had chosen this club, that and a VIP invite by Johnny Rancid who was performing with his band.
"I mean you'll fit in better, though you need to remember your sunglasses. You can actually leave the metal exposed, it won't really trigger any alarm bells since they'll think its 'hardcore'." I said not really caring what she wore as long as she didn't get exposed and she could get in. She looked good in everything she had bought, probably would look good in a trash bag. Though she must have asked someone to google search for a moment as her look was much better. A gray t-shirt that was overstretched at the collar hug off her shoulder showing lacey red straps that blended with the red of her hair. The bottom of the shirt was tucked into a pleated black miniskirt that bled down to fishnets and a pair of boots that were a twin of mine in her size. She had braided her blue stained hair down below the shard and parted the rest of her hair opposite the shard. She had so much hair.
"Is it not…pervy to wear sunglasses inside?" I had previously called out Seemore so the connection made sense.
"Just don't be a perv and you'll be fine." I said with a shrug of my shoulders as she tried on her choices. I didn't really have the eye for fashion to be a good reference in the first place.
"Can you explain more about this club to me? Is it just dancing?" Starfire asked as she found a pair she must have liked in the mirror.
"What else would it be?" I asked wondering what she was actually asking. Then it hit me as she partially lowered her sunglasses and her eyebrows were raised some one had tainted her about strip clubs at the very least.
"This is one is just dancing, I have no interest in going to another type of club with the boys. They can blow their money that way without me having go see it." I had a bit of a sneer in my voice since I really just wanted to not see any of the boys get into anything. PDA made me uncomfortable and it had been one of the reasons I had felt awkward around her in the start.
"Maybe Seemore is right." She said and then turned away to walk to the bathroom. I wanted to ask right about what, but I could hear his voice saying 'She just needs to get laid'. He had been saying it whenever I had been moody lately. Everyone in the house was getting on my nerves, my phone went back to Zillow as I was seeing what was available for cash. Perhaps it was best to stay in tonight while everyone else was out. I did not necessarily mind Johnny Rancid's music, but it was still a lot of people to deal with.
I had already gotten dressed up and the drinks were supposed to be some of the best. There was no way I was going to go through this night sober. Though I might leave early if the boys got gross or maybe not come home at all if there was a handsome enough stranger. Hook ups were messy, but they certainly were less messy than my last relationship. It wouldn't even matter since I would not see them again. It was weird talking myself into a potential hook up. Throwing a couple condoms in my purse was never a bad plan.
I kept scrolling through my phone, but shifted over to hotels near the club. There was no way I would bring anyone home here. I understood exactly why Kyd Wykkyd didn't bring Angel here. It was a lair for one and had no shortage of mood killers.
I screenshotted a few options that had a decent option. I didn't do one night stands normally, but maybe it was worth trying to deal with the stress of my added roommate. I had money to blow maybe I would just stay in a hotel for a while and let them deal with her alone. My cut was big enough I could almost do that indefinitely if I kept it moderate in accommodations. I just would have to move often enough not to get caught by the Titans.
My escape fantasies were ended when I was beginning to hear the clinging of glasses as they pregamed. Well the breaking of glasses was most jarring.
"Hey idiots! You break it your clean it!" I called and went to the commotion. As what I should have assumed Mammoth was the culprit as he had cheered his oversized mug a little too hard in the sensible hydroflask Starfire had annexed from Seemore's stash. She had added Diamond the snake as an accessory as she stooped in a low float to pick up the pieces with her bare hands to help. She did not have the risk of cutting herself so I didn't even correct her and decided that catching up was most likely necessary if I was going to actually have a good time. Alcohol and the ear plugs I had packed were what I was banking on.
"Thanks, Candy." Mammoth said as she handled the rest of the clean up with a broom. He was unable to stoop and get back up as easily due to his massive size. "I am going to put her back, I don't think she wants to come to the concert." He said when she finished. Starfire gave her palm to Mammoth which had Diamond's head nearby and very gently started to jostle Diamond so she would be more inclined to slither onto Mammoth. She was very gentle even as the snake tightened in protest.
"She would fit right in though." Seemore said and I knew it was not too uncommon for snakes to be used as props. I knew Mammoth had no interest in strangers handling his snake. "Though at least you don't have to hide this." Seemore said and made move to touch Starfire's head shard before a crystal clear growl paused his idiocy.
"Do humans who enjoy this music often have head injuries?" She asked turning away from him completely interested.
"Yes." Gizmo said instantly. Billy could not help laughing and I believed I caught a smirk hit Kyd Wykkyd's mouth.
"You're awful." I said since I knew Mammoth was out of earshot to defend himself.
"Aren't we all, Jinxy?" Seemore said and passed me a drink that smelt like more rum than coke. He did have a point as I downed the drink ready to catch up with their level of merriment.
