Chapter 18
Bella's POV
ONCE I HAVE YOU BACK I'M NEVER LETTING YOU GO AGAIN.
UNTIL NEXT TIME, BELLA
Bella couldn't stop looking at the words that were scrawled angrily across the back of one of the pictures that was found underneath the door. After such an amazing day with Edward; finding out that they were having a little girl - she truly thought that there would be nothing in this world that could bring her mood down. But she went from ecstatic to downtrodden faster than she could say Jacob.
There was no doubt in her mind who did this but she also knew deep down that they weren't going to find any evidence to put him away. With how he became obsessed with her at the end of the previous school year she had a feeling that this wasn't the first time a girl wasn't interested in his pleas.
Edward was on the phone with the police trying to figure out what they needed to do next. She heard his voice as if it was coming through a long tunnel. Nothing seemed real. Even her doctor's appointment felt like it was so long ago, as if it had happened to someone else.
She jumped when Edward placed his hand on her shoulder, she had no idea how long she'd been sitting in that same position.
"Baby," he said in a quiet voice so he wouldn't scare her again. "The police need to see the photos, do you want to do it now or wait until tomorrow morning?" She remembered vaguely that she was looking forward to spending some lazy, quality time with Edward this weekend. She knew that would be almost next to impossible to achieve right now.
"I want-," her voice came out so gravelly that she had to clear her throat to continue. "I want to get this over with."
"Okay, let's go."
Once she stood up, though, Edward pulled her into his arms and she felt the dam that was holding in her tears begin to split down the middle. She had to swallow through the lump in her throat to keep the breakdown from happening - they didn't have the time for her to fall to her knees. Once they got back from the police station she would be free to scream and cry but not right now.
"Do you want to call your father?" Edward asked once they were driving.
She immediately shook her head. "I don't want him to worry over nothing."
"Bella, this isn't nothing," Edward told her.
She took a moment before answering. "I know, but the minute I tell him something like this is happening then he will catch the first flight he can. He has enough on his plate without dealing with whatever this is," she tried to explain.
She knew that Edward didn't agree with her but he kept silent the rest of the ride to the station. It gave her plenty of time to get herself together, but the words that were on the back of the picture ran through her head again.
ONCE I HAVE YOU BACK I'M NEVER LETTING YOU GO AGAIN.
UNTIL NEXT TIME, BELLA
What did she do to make him obsessed with her? Did she lead him on? Did she wear revealing clothes? She ran through all of her interactions with him in her head but nothing stood out to her. What could she have done to make him react in this way?
They walked into the station hand in hand, Bella appreciated that Edward didn't seem weirded out about the way that their night had turned out. She knew that she couldn't do any of this without him, he had quickly become her rock and she had to keep a tight hold on him otherwise she feared that she would drown in her anxiety.
"Can I help you?" A baby-faced officer asked them when they walked through the door.
"My name's Edward Cullen and this is my girlfriend, Bella Swan. I just got off the phone with an Officer Uley, she asked to meet me here immediately," Edward explained.
The officer nodded before walking away and coming back with another officer. This one looked to be about ten years older than Bella, she had beautiful caramel colored skin, and ink black hair that was pulled into a tight bun on the top of her head. Bella was momentarily shocked to see a couple thick scars that ran the right side of her face but when Officer Uley stepped in front of them and smiled it was as if the scars faded away. She immediately made Bella feel comfortable in her presence, she could breathe for the first time since she'd seen those pictures.
"You must be Edward and Bella. Come this way," she said. She led them towards the back of the police station talking the whole way. "I'm Emily Uley, by the way. It's very nice to meet the two of you. You look about college age, do you go to U of W?"
"We're seniors," Edward answered when he noticed that Bella wasn't going to say anything.
"Ah, a stressful time in someone's life. I hope everything goes well for you two." She opened the door to a room that had beige walls and hardwood floors, a long table took up a majority of the room with a small couch off to the side. "Sit wherever you would like." She motioned to the table or the couch. Edward looked to Bella so she picked one of the chairs and Edward sat next to her while Emily picked a chair across from them.
"So, tell me about these photos."
Edward handed her the envelope with her name scrawled across the front. She shuddered when she once again thought of the message that was on one of the pictures. Emily was silent as she flipped through the photos after she put on a pair of gloves, she paused when she reached the end and saw the writing.
"First off, is there anyone you can think of that would do something like this?" She asked Bella.
Bella swallowed past the lump that was once again in her throat. "The only person I can think of is Jacob Black."
Emily pulled out a small notebook and began writing across one of the pages, she looked up at Bella.
"Who is this Jacob Black?"
"We dated throughout last year but I broke it off once I noticed how possessive he was becoming. After I did that he wouldn't stop calling me, I eventually blocked his number but then he started showing up at the place that I shared with my best friend. He refused to leave and tried to get into the apartment, when I threatened to call the cops on him he left. After school ended I went back home and didn't hear from him until a couple months into the school year."
"What happened then?" Emily asked her, soothingly.
"Nothing, Edward and I were at a coffee shop when he came up to me and gave me a hug. When I introduced him to Edward he left but not before giving me more bad vibes. I didn't see or hear from him again till last month when I was out getting a drink at another coffee shop. He asked me out but when he found out that I was still in a relationship he tried badmouthing Edward but I, essentially, told him to shut up. I left right after that and haven't seen him since," Bella finished.
"Was your roommate at the apartment last year when Jacob attempted to get in?" Emily asked as she wrote more things down in her notebook.
"Yes, I felt so bad because she was terrified," Bella whispered. "She called her boyfriend but Jacob was gone before Jasper could show up."
"What is your roommate's name?"
"Alice Brandon and her boyfriend is Jasper Whitlock. They're both also seniors at the college."
After another ten minutes of asking questions Emily eventually shut her notebook and placed her hands on the cover. She looked directly at Bella.
"I'm going to be straight with you. I'm going to send these photos down to our lab and see if we can scrounge up any fingerprints, if we can then we'll be able to arrest Jacob for harassment but if there's nothing on these photos then there's isn't much we can do. We will talk to Jacob and see what he has to say and hope that he incriminates himself and I'll make sure to do a thorough background check into this guy and see if there's any dirt that we can dig up.
"Otherwise, all I can tell you is this; be careful and extra vigilant. I know that that's not exactly what you wanted to hear but it's all I can give you right now. This guy is hung up on you and he seems to be near or past his breaking point," she pointed to the photos that were back in the envelope. "He could be very dangerous so if he comes up to you again and says anything that doesn't sit right with you...call me." She handed Bella a small business card with her work number and cell phone scrawled across the back.
Her eyes zeroed in on Bella's hands, they were slowly rubbing her stomach in a way that was supposed to sooth her nerves.
"You can bite my head off if this is out of line but are you pregnant?"
"Yes, just a little over five months along," Bella said.
Emily nodded her head. "Makes things a tad more complicated, since this guy is infatuated with you he may find this pregnancy a threat to himself. It's another tie to your boyfriend and he may not be happy about that. My guess is that he found out and that's what sent him over the edge and made him deliver these photos to you. Please stay alert and don't go anywhere alone, if Edward can't go with you then make sure you have another able bodied man." When Bella remained silent Emily reached her hand across the table to place it on Bella's hand. "Tell me what you're thinking, Bella."
"What did I do to deserve this? Did I say something or do something that led him on? Did I-," Before Bella could continue Emily cut her off.
"This is not your fault. As females, we've always been made to think that something like this happens because of something that we did. That's wrong, even if you went around wearing next to nothing, you did not make this man behave as he did. You are not at fault, the only person who is at fault here is this Jacob Black."
Bella felt tears begin to fall down her cheeks, Emily made Bella feel better for the first time since she walked into her apartment. Maybe everything would turn out for the better, she just had to have hope.
As they exited the police station Bella held onto Edward's hand extra tight, her other hand was on top of her stomach. She would protect this baby if it was the last thing that she ever did, Jacob wasn't going to take away her happy ending.

"What can I get for you, love?" Edward asked as they walked into the apartment for the second time that night. This time there was nothing but silence to greet them.
"Tea?" Bella asked, quietly. It was only eight at night but she was already so tired, she just hoped that once she fell asleep that she wouldn't have nightmares and would be able to escape this living nightmare that was her life now.
"Let's think about something happy. We're having a baby girl, what are some names for her?" Edward asked. Bella knew that he was forcing himself to talk about something but she couldn't have been happier for a distraction. She couldn't keep thinking about this Jacob situation, she would go crazy.
"I've always wanted to pick a meaningful name, instead of just a name off some baby naming sight...maybe something related to one of our family members," she explained.
"Okay, let's think. Middle names are good since we don't want to confuse anyone by using the same name," he smiled. "My sister's middle name is Ann, and my mother's is Roe." He wrinkled his nose at those names and laughed when Bella mimicked him, they just didn't sound right.
"I always thought that I would pick something dealing with my mom but…," she trailed off. It was painful to think about the strained relationship that she had with her mother right now, especially when she needed her mom more than ever. "What about our fathers?" Bella asked after a moment of thought.
"You want to name our little girl Carlisle?" Edward asked her with a large smile on his face.
"Maybe not Carlisle but…" And then it hit her, the perfect name for their perfect little girl. "Carlie."
"Karlee?" He asked. "Cause it sounds like Charlie?"
"No, C-A-R-L-I-E. It's a mixture of both of their names," she explained. Edward was silent for a few moments while he thought of the name.
"Carlie Rose Cullen," he said, hesitantly.
"I love it," Bella told him. Rosalie was the first person that knew about the pregnancy and with how close Rose and Edward were, it only made sense to give their baby her name.
As Bella felt their baby kick in her stomach she knew that their baby loved her name. Now that they had a name figured out she couldn't wait to meet their little girl. But she needed this whole Jacob thing figured out before she came into this world, she would do anything to protect Carlie.
Jacob POV
As he watched Bella and Edward return from the police station he couldn't stop the surge of anger that ran through his body. He had left those pictures as a way to let Bella know that he was always thinking of her, she was everything to him and he really thought that she would appreciate it.
He hadn't been happy when he took those photos of Bella and Edward in their bedroom, he was angry that Bella would let another man touch her the way that he used to. He missed the way that her body felt wrapped around his own.
He didn't blame her, she was innocent. He blamed Edward, the guy was used to hopping from one woman's pussy to the next one. He always took whatever he wanted and didn't care about what other people thought of him.
And now that Bella was pregnant…
Jacob saw red whenever he thought of him getting that close to his one love. He wanted nothing more than to have Bella all to himself again.
Nothing was going to get in his way.
A/N: So sorry for the delay. I know it sucks waiting on one chapter at a time but I will try my hardest to get the rest of these to you in a timely manner. I was so hooked on Midnight Sun that I had to find the other Twilight books in Edward's point of view (Dark Side of the Moon - New Moon - was amazing to read and it's right here on FanFiction if anyone is interested in reading it) and then my family moved and that was a lot to deal with. But I'm back and am very excited to get this story going.
Who liked seeing Jacob's point of view? If you want more of Jacob then please let me know in your review. If you liked the mix up of the POV, maybe I'll throw in some Emily Uley. Let me know what you think!
Please, REVIEW!
