Hello all Storm here with a new story! Yes I'm back, sorry for the delay, but I'm back now and you all will a very long list of updates to look forward to. But first we have a new story, another Naruto/Harry Potter story, and one that is different from my usual ones. So, without further ado.
I own nothing
"This trial of the Wizengamot is now in session. The defendants, Vernon Dursley and Petunia Dursley née Evans, stand accused of the abuse and murder of the Boy-Who-Lived, Harry James Potter. What say the accused, in your defense?" Said the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, looking down at the Dursley's, with most of the Wizengamot members glaring at the Muggles, mostly for them killing the savior of the Wizarding World, along with the fact that they were Muggles to begin with.
"You can't do this! We aren't fre-like you people, you can't judge us!" Petunia shouted, stopping herself from saying "freaks", knowing that wouldn't do her and her husband any favors.
"That's right! I demand a trial held in a Court of Law!" Said Vernon, trying to stand up tall, which was difficult to do, given his wrists and ankles were restrained, while none of the Wizengamot members looking impressed at the Muggle's attempt to look brave.
"Yes, normally, you would be right. But as the deceased victim was part of the Magical World, the Boy-Who-Lived nonetheless, you will be judged by the Magical World for your crimes." Fudge replied.
What he didn't mention, was the fact that the Chief Warlock, Albus Dumbledore, had pulled some strings in order to make sure Vernon and Petunia would be judged by the Wizengamot for what they did to Harry.
The Headmaster of Hogwarts was also present at the trial sitting in the stands, with the Deputy Headmistress, Minerva McGonagall, sitting beside him. Dumbledore had stone cold expression on his face, as he looked at the Dursley's, while McGonagall looked to be near tears, with anger and sadness written across her face. McGonagall then turned and glared at Dumbledore.
"I told you Albus! I told you what these people were like that they were the worse sort of Muggles, and how they hated the Magical World! I told you not to leave Ha-Harry with them, but you did, and see what's happened!" McGonagall hissed angrily at Dumbledore, having known Harry would be mistreated by his relatives, but to hear they actually killed the poor boy.
It made the Transfiguration Professor want to turn them into insects, just so she could crush them beneath her boots.
"Professor McGonagall, are you saying that Headmaster Dumbledore is the one responsible for placing Harry Potter with these…Muggles?" Questioned one of the Ladies, glaring at the Dursley's, while the rest of the Wizengamot turned to looked at the two Professors.
Seeing the accusing looks he was getting, Dumbledore sighed, before standing up to speak.
"Yes, it's true. I left Harry with his relative the Dursleys, under the belief that he would be safe with them." Dumbledore answered, most of the Wizengamot members began whispering amongst each other after hearing this, now believing Dumbledore was just as much to blame for their savior's death.
"Order, order!" Fudge said, banging his gavel to silencing the whispering, before looking at Dumbledore.
"Headmaster Dumbledore, you left Harry Potter with these Muggles, despite knowing what they were like, under the belief he would be safe? Can you explain to the Wizengamot how you came to this conclusion?" Fudge questioned, with Dumbledore nodding, knowing he had no reason to keep his cards close to chest anymore, with Harry now gone.
"I can Minister. It started back to that Halloween night, four years ago, when Voldemort murdered James and Lily Potter." Dumbledore said, with most of the Wizengamot flinching at the Dark Lord's name.
"When Voldemort went to Godric's Hollow, he entered the Potters home and killed James Potter, while Lily took young Harry to try and escape. Unfortunately, Voldemort arrived before she could, leading to her dying as well, and then Voldemort turned his wand on young Harry to kill him, only for it to fail, with Voldemort vanishing, and Harry becoming the only known survivor of the Killing Curse, with only a single scar left in the shape of a lightning bolt." Dumbledore explained.
"Yes, yes, we all know this. But you have not answered my question." Said Fudge, annoyed at believing Dumbledore was stalling, by telling them something everyone knew.
"I was getting to that Minister. That is what we all know happened, but not the reason it did. The reason Harry was able to survive the Killing Curse, was because of his mothers sacrifice. Lily Potter's unconditional, powerful, and pure love for her own son is what allowed him to survive Voldemort's curse. By willingly sacrificing her own life, she endowed her son with a long-lasting protection that allowed Harry to survive the Killing Curse, with it being rebounded back at the caster." Dumbledore revealed, as the Wizengamot looked at him in shock to hear the truth of what happened that Halloween night.
Though the members that had sided with Voldemort, but managed to escape being punished or imprisoned, looked dubious at the idea of the Dark Lord sparing a Mudbloods life.
"You say Lily Potter willingly sacrificed her life. Are you implying You-Know-Who offered her the chance to live?" Questioned Lucius Malfoy, one of the Death Eaters that claimed to be under the Imperious Curse.
Dumbledore looked at the Malfoy with neutral, cold eyes.
"Yes, as that is the only way the sacrificial protection can be activated. As for why Voldemort offered Lily Potter a chance to live, I would not know. Perhaps he felt that she was a talented enough witch, to where he could overlook her blood status." Dumbledore said, hiding the fact that his spy, Severus Snape, had begged Voldemort to spare Lily's life, which the Dark Lord accepted, only for Lily to refuse and sacrifice her life for Harry's.
"Now then, as for why I left Harry with his relatives, it was for his protection. While Lily Potter's sacrifice endowed Harry with a sacrificial protection, I wished to make sure Harry was truly safe for years to come. So, I cast a bond of blood charm on Harry, which was activated when Petunia, Lily's sister, took her nephew into her home, and so long as Harry called Privet Drive his home, he would be safe until his seventeenth birthday. I told Petunia this in a letter I left with Harry, the night I brought him to his relatives. This is why I believed Harry would be safe, but now I see I was wrong." Dumbledore said.
That was how he found out about Harry's death, when he felt the bond of blood charm break, which made him quickly rush to Privet Drive to make sure Harry was safe. Only to be horrified and angered beyond comprehension, when he found Harry locked in the cabinet, under the stairs, dead and showing signs of abuse and neglect.
It had taken every ounce of willpower Dumbledore had, to not lash out against the Dursley's, but summoned the Aurors to take them away, along with retrieving Harry's body. Dumbledore then went off to make sure both Vernon and Petunia were judged before the Wizengamot, while their son Dudley was placed in foster care.
After everything was taken care of, Dumbledore had returned to his office, wishing to be alone, until the trial, in order to accept another one of his mistakes. This time, one that cost an innocent child his life.
The Wizengamot sat in silence, as they processed all the information they just learned, such as finally getting the truth of how Harry Potter survived the Killing Curse. Some of them actually having a newfound respect for Lily Potter, to willingly accept dying to protect her son, with many wondering if they'd have that same strength.
Finally, after a few moments, Fudge banged his gavel to resume the trial.
"Bring in the medic witch, who helped performed the autopsy!" Fudge said, so they could learn the full extent of Harry's abuse and neglect.
Once the medic witch was brought in, Fudge had them begin listing all the injuries Harry suffered at the Dursley's hands. Though just when the witch began, the entirety of Wizengamot was horrified, angered, and disgusted at how the Boy-Who-Lived was treated. Even worse, it was a magical child that suffered.
Malnourishment, three cracked ribs, a dislocated shoulder that was never properly set back in place, burn marks on his hands and forearms from being forced to cook, scarring along his back from what looked to be from a belt, and a cracked skull.
The Dursley's shivered and shrunk under the glares from the Wizengamot, most looking ready to pull out their wands and attack them. Even the normally kind and forgiving Dumbledore looked tempted to erase them from existence, at now hearing the extent of Harry's abuse.
"Minister, that is not all we found. Upon closer inspection, we discovered that the scar that Harry was left with, after You-Know-Who's attack, had traces of a Horcrux within it." The medic witch revealed, making those who knew what a Horcrux was gasp in horror, while those that didn't were confused as to what a Horcrux was.
"For those of you that don't know, a Horcrux is one of the most terrible forms of Dark Magic. It is a container designed to hold a portion of a persons soul, effectively making them immortal. It can be anything, from a painting, to a grain of sand on the beach. How a Horcrux is created, is by committing the most evil and unforgivable act one can do, murder." Dumbledore explained, while those people who just learned this paled in fear at learning what a Horcrux was.
"Professor Dumbledore is correct. Another known fact is that a Horcrux can have an effect on people it's within close proximity of, making them more aggressive and angry. Me, and my colleagues, believe that it could have played a part in the Dursley's treatment of Harry. The dark magic from the Horcrux must have mixed with the protective charms that were placed on Harry, affecting their minds to believe that to protect Harry, that there shouldn't be a Harry." The medic witch explained.
This only horrified and saddened everyone even more, that Voldemort had managed to outsmart them all in the end. Even being successful in getting his revenge against Harry from beyond the grave. Though the medic witch then spoke again, with even more terrifying news.
"But that's not all. From what we found, the Horcrux within Harry's scar, was much smaller than one would expect, given when a Horcrux is made it tears the soul in half, making for a larger fragment. However, from the size of the one we found; we can only conclude this wasn't You-Know-Who's only Horcrux." The medic witch said slowly, as horror and realization dawned on everyone's faces at the implication.
Voldemort had more Horcruxes and was still alive.
Thankfully, before anyone could start panicking at this realization, Dumbledore stood up and spoke.
"I shall inform the Curse Breakers to begin searching for the remaining Horcruxes, so they can be destroyed. But as we don't know what Voldemort used to create them, how many there are, or where he could have hidden them, there's no guarantee that we will be able to locate all of them." Dumbledore said, with Fudge nodding shakily, while making a mental note to ensure that the Daily Prophet doesn't include anything about the Horcruxes and cause widespread panic.
"Does that mean we're free to go? Since we never actually intended to kill the boy." Petunia said, believing with this would allow them to go free.
"That's right! If not for that horcrutch messing with our minds, the boy would still be alive! This Voldmore is the one responsible, not us!" Vernon added.
Only for the couple to shrink under Dumbledore's cold look.
"I believe you Muggles have a saying for this. Voldemort may have given you a loaded gun, but you're still guilty of pulling the trigger." Dumbledore said.
Afterwards, the trial proceeded with the Dursley's being found guilty, before being sentenced to life imprisonment in Azkaban for their crimes. While their son was given to a foster family, where he'd hopefully turn out better than his parents.
*Timeskip-Three Days*
The Dark Lord's Last Laugh: The Death of a Savior
That was the title of the newest edition of the Daily Prophet, with it detailing the death of Harry Potter, the Dursley's trial, and even a copy of the autopsy report of everything Harry suffered in his life. There was also mentioned of how more wizarding families were beginning to agree with the Pure-Blood Supreme Mentality, with Half-Bloods and Muggleborns denouncing their ties to the Muggle World, given what their savior suffered at the hands of Muggles.
Thankfully, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Since they did note Lily Potter's Sacrifice, and how a Dark Magic that Voldemort used on Harry, before his death, played a role in his relatives cruelty.
This also lead to the Pure-Blood Supremacy Mindset being split into two factions. The Traditionalists and the Revolutionists, with the latter not really having a problem with Half-Bloods, Muggleborns and Squibs, given their ties to the Magical World. But held no love for Muggles and the Muggle World, while wishing to have some laws in place to extract anyone of Magical Nature, while also fully separating the two worlds. Like how the Americans did, before the repealment of Rappaport's Law in 1965.
All over Magical Britain, and even some other parts of Magical Europe as whole, the death of the Boy-Who-Lived had caused mass outrage, sadness, and horror. With the ones taking it the worse, were those that had been closest to James and Lily.
Remus Lupin looked at the paper in sadness and horror, with tears falling from his eyes.
Pushing it away, Remus held his face in his hands as he cried over the death of the son of two of his closest friends. He still remembered when he, Sirius and Peter would visit James and Lily, before they went into hiding; playing with Harry, watching him move around on a toy broomstick. How James would go on about teaching him to carry on the Marauder's legacy, only for Lily to smack him over the head, while saying how her son would be focusing on his classes and improving himself, rather than pranks.
It only made the pain worse, now that all three of them were gone.
'James, Lily, I'm so sorry.' Remus thought, filled with self-loathing at not having bothered to even ask Dumbledore how Harry was doing, or make an attempt to visit him.
Now he'd never get that chance, and Remus couldn't even wonder how he'd be able to face the Potters in the afterlife.
*With McGonagall*
McGonagall sat in her office, looking at the paper with tears in her eyes. Even though she had been at the trial and knew what happened beforehand, she still had trouble believing Harry was dead.
'He had his mothers eyes and, even back then, looked just like his father.' McGonagall thought sadly, remembering the few times she met Harry as a baby.
She actually dreaded the day he'd come to Hogwarts, imagining another James raising hell with his pranks. But would also be brilliant in all his classes, like Lily, the best of his parents. Only now, that day would never come.
'I hope you all found peace, together.' McGonagall thought, pulling out a bottle of Fire Whiskey and a glass, hoping that Harry could be with his parents now.
*With Dumbledore*
"Aberforth."
Aberforth Dumbledore looked up from the counter of his pub/inn, the Hog's Head Inn, and saw his brother standing by the door.
"What do you want, Albus?" Aberforth said, going back to cleaning the counter, not interested in talking with his brother.
"To see my brother." Dumbledore said, walking up and sitting at the bar, with Aberforth pausing again, and looked at Albus, finally seeing just how…old his brother looked.
Aberforth of course knew the reason, given he's sure everyone has at least heard of what happened to the Boy-Who-Lived. Along with the part Albus played in what happened, even if he never intended for it to happen.
'Just like with Ariana.' Aberforth thought bitterly, having never gotten over what happened to their little sister, how Albus and his former friend, Grindelwald, got her killed in their duel.
"I'm not here to ask for forgiveness, you have every right to hate me, it was my actions that lead to her death. Just as it was my actions that lead to another innocent's death. It seems that no matter what I do, someone always ends up dead because of me." Dumbledore said, thinking on all the people who he failed, knowing Harry was just another in a very long list.
This made Aberforth look at his brother again, before grunting as he pulled out a bottle of Fire Whiskey, and two glasses. Pouring both glasses, Aberforth placed one in front of Albus.
"Here, this is a bar, not some place for you to come and mope around." Aberforth said, raising his glass, while Dumbledore grabbed the one in front of him.
"And don't think this is free, I don't care who you are, you drink here, you pay." Added Aberforth, with Dumbledore chuckling lightly.
"I'd expect nothing less." Dumbledore replied, raising his glass as he and his brother gave a toast in Harry's memory.
*The Burrow*
Meanwhile, the Weasley family was all gathered together, even their eldest son, Bill, after hearing what happened. All of them mourning the loss, not for the Boy-Who-Lived, but of a young child that never had a chance to live.
What none of them noticed, was how Percy's pet rat, Scabbers, also seemed to have his head hung low in not just sadness, but also shame. Another hidden fact, is that Scabbers was in truth, Peter Pettigrew, the real traitor of the Potters, who sold them out to Voldemort.
'I never meant for this to happen.' Peter thought.
Yes, he betrayed James and Lily out of fear, telling Voldemort where they were, even framing Sirius for their betrayal, before faking his death. He knew Voldemort would have killed Harry and would have lived with that regret for the rest of his life. But that would have been quick and painless. He didn't want Harry to suffer, like he did with his relatives.
Now it didn't matter, he was responsible for not just the death of two of his friends, but their son, as well.
'They were all right, I'm just a pathetic, cowardly, weakling, who only knows how to protect himself.' Thought Peter, while lowering his head.
*Longbottom Manor*
Augusta Longbottom sighed as she looked over the paper, shaking her head sadly at seeing yet another life lost because of Voldemort.
'He and Neville were quite similar, losing their parents, being taken in by relatives, and being tormented by them.' Augusta thought, while filled with shame.
After what happened to her son and his wife, and taking in her grandson, she had become strict and demanding of Neville, wanting him to live up to his parents legacies. She and the rest of her family even feared that Neville might be a Squib, when he showed no signs of having magic, leading to most of them doing stupid and foolish things that endangered his life.
Thankfully, Neville did have magic, but what if he didn't, he might very well be dead because of his own family, just like Harry Potter was.
How would she have been able to face Frank and Alice, even if they weren't responsive, and tell them that their son was dead, because of her and the rest of their foolish family.
'Perhaps, I should just let Neville be a child, let him live as he wants, rather than what I want.' Augusta thought, wanting to give her grandson a better life, where he could live as what he wished, and not what others wanted.
*With Mad-Eye Moody*
"What a waste." Muttered Alastor Moody, while looking at the paper.
While he may not have been as close to the Potters, as some other members of the Order were, he still considered them good friends and allies. It was terrible what happened to them and made Moody more determined to hunt down every single Death Eater, and either put them in the ground, or make sure they became food for the Dementors.
Now hearing that their son was dead as well, at the hands of his own relatives, and the Horcrux that was in his scar.
"It'll make the Dark Lord's followers come out of the woodworks. And I'll be waiting to throw them into Azkaban." Moody said, while standing up, knowing it was time for him to come out of retirement.
*Malfoy Manor*
Lucius shook his head, as he folded the paper and placed it on the table. Even if he had been at the trial for those worthless Muggles, and heard everything that was said, he still found it a shame that a young magical life had been snuffed out.
Sure the Potter boy might have played a part in the Dark Lord's downfall, but Lucius still found it disgusting that a magical life was ended by Muggles of all people.
It actually made Lucius think of his own son, Draco, and imagined it was his own son whose life was ended.
'Perhaps I should…try to let Draco be a child for once, rather than my heir.' Lucius thought, believing he should lower his expectations for Draco, and not place too many burdens on him to be the future Head of House.
Standing up, Lucius exited the living room, walking pass his wife, Narcissa, who was holding a glass of wine.
She too was saddened at learning such a young life was ended by Muggles, but she was also empathetic to those who'd take it the hardest. Such as her cousin, Sirius, whom she knew for a fact would never have betrayed the Potters, given how close he and James were, as well as the fact that he was Harry's godfather, as well. Along with her son's own godfather, Severus, given his friendship with Lily Evans, and that learning her son was dead, likely wouldn't be easy for him.
Narcissa could even the House Elf, Dobby, crying somewhere at the death of the poor savior.
*With Severus Snape*
Snape shouted in rage as he swung his wand through the air, sending a bookcase flying against a wall, where it shattered.
All around him, his normally neat and organized office was in ruins, the Potions Professor having been destroying everything around him, ever since he read that damn paper and learned what happened to Lily's son.
Panting, Snape leaned back against a wall, before slowly sliding down it.
'I failed, I never seen saw the boy, or had a chance to protect him, and I've already failed her.' Snape thought, as tears slid down his eyes.
He still remembered finding her body that night, finding her dead in her son's nursery, giving her life to save his. He remembered crying as he held her, knowing that this was his fault for telling Voldemort about the prophecy.
And now her son was gone as well, the son who had her eyes.
"It's my fault, it's all my fault." Muttered Snape, covering his face in shame and sadness.
*Azkaban*
Sirius Black screamed in rage and sadness from within his cell, after having gotten a copy of the Daily Prophet. He screamed in sadness and despair at learning his godson was dead, in anger at the ones who killed him, and that rat bastard, who sentenced him to this hell on earth.
'Damn you, Peter! I swear, you'll pay if it's the last thing I do! You'll pay for James, Lily, and Harry, you traitor!' Sirius swore.
He didn't care how long it took, but the first chance he gets, he'll turn into his Animagus form and escape Azkaban. And when he does, he'll make sure his friends and godson get justice, by finding that traitor Pettigrew, and making him pay for his betrayal.
But before he leaves this accursed prison, he had some business to take care of, with Azkaban's two newest prisoners.
*Timeskip-Two Days*
Vernon and Petunia Dursley shivered and whimpered in their cell, having been thrown in the same rather, than two different cells. The Aurors who brought them to Azkaban, having been given orders to do so, so they could suffer together.
Neither of the Muggles even had time to shout and scream at the Aurors to let them go before they were brought to their knees by the Dementors that were set upon them. Draining away all their positive memories and leaving behind only fear and depression.
Even though they've only been at Azkaban for a few days, it felt like decades to the two, as the Dementors came by everyday to drain them of any positive memories.
Suddenly, the Dursley's paled in fear when they heard a growling, just outside their cell. Looking, the Muggles gasped in fear when they saw a large, skinny black dog just outside the cell door, growling and snarling at them.
Their fear only increased when the dog moved forward, and managed to squeeze through the bars, leaving them trapped inside with it. Then before either of them could react, the dog leapt at them with its mouth wide open.
Then all anyone could hear, were the screams of pain and agony from within the cell, with most of the prisoners laughing at the pain being inflicted on the Muggles trapped in here, with them. Though one such prisoner, while taking enjoyment in the Muggles pain, didn't laugh and merely smirked wickedly.
"I guess you are a Black, after all, Sirius." Bellatrix mused, for once feeling pride in her least favorite family member.
*Timeskip-Four Days*
Remus stepped out of the fireplace in Dumbledore's office, finding the Headmaster sitting behind his desk.
"Albus, I'm not sure if you've heard or not but Sirius, he's escaped Azkaban." Remus said, having just heard how his former friend escaped the supposedly inescapable prison, and quickly rushed to inform Dumbledore.
"Yes, I learned about it yesterday, and I've been wondering where he could have gone." Replied Dumbledore, already aware of Sirius's escape.
Nodding, Remus sat down across from Dumbledore, with an uneasy look on his face.
"Why would he escape now? He's surely already heard of…Harry's death. Why wouldn't he have tried to escape sooner?" Remus asked, confused as to why Sirius would escape, when the person responsible for his master's death was now dead, as well.
"I am unsure. Most would think Sirius would take the chance to rally the Death Eaters under his control, until Voldemort's return. But now…I'm wondering if perhaps, we need to take a closer look at what really happened between Sirius and Peter and find out who really betrayed who." Dumbledore said, with Remus's eyes widening at hearing this before he thought it over.
Could it be true, could Sirius really be innocent and didn't betray the Potters? If that's true, then the real traitor was…
'That rat!' Remus thought in anger, realizing that there was a chance Peter had been the real traitor, and Sirius had spent the past four years suffering in Azkaban, and now having learned his godson was dead.
He likely escaped to hunt down Peter, the rat probably having faked his death.
"I'll do my part to help find the truth. I owe it to James, Lily, and Harry." Remus said, standing up, while Dumbledore nodded.
"Well all owe it to them." Replied Dumbledore, as a select few shared his newfound suspicions of Sirius's guilt, as well.
Afterwards, Remus soon left to begin his own investigation, leaving Dumbledore alone.
Once Remus had left, Dumbledore sighed, before opening a drawer, showing the shattered remains of the prophecy orb, the one about the one who would defeat Voldemort. It, along with the one in the Department of Mysteries, had shattered not long after Harry's death.
'Meaning Harry was indeed the one who would defeat Voldemort, but now that is no longer an option.' Dumbledore thought, while closing the drawer.
That would leave young Neville Longbottom as the only candidate left to stand against Voldemort, when he returns. And this time, Dumbledore won't make the same mistake, and make sure Neville will be prepared, like he should have done with Harry.
'But not just Neville, I need to find others with the courage, determination, and skill to stand against Tom and his followers, once and for all.' Dumbledore thought, knowing he couldn't put so much blind faith in Neville being the only one who can stop Voldemort.
Especially with the prophecy now destroyed, and that being part of the reason for Harry's death. He had put too much on the boy's shoulders, and it eventually crushed him.
For the first time in years, Dumbledore felt a new determination burning inside him. A determination to train the next generation to be their best and be ready for Voldemort's inevitable return.
'And perhaps, the Wizarding World doesn't need a prophesized savior, what they need is someone who will take a stand by choice, someone who will fight, not because of a prophecy, but because it's the right thing to do. Someone…who can be a hero.' Dumbledore thought.
*Wool's Orphanage*
Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away in London, within Wool's Orphanage, a five-year-old Naruto Uzumaki slept peacefully in his room. Unaware of the events that have transpired in the past few days, or the everything that will happen in the years to come.
So, what did you think, good. Yep Harry Potter is dead, having been killed by his relatives after the Horcrux in his scar along with the protective charms messed with their minds, but even with that they still killed the Boy-Who-Lived. And the news of this has reached everyone in Magical Britain with everyone mourning the death of their savior, along with many changes happening as a result. Not only that but now Dumbledore has decided to train the next generation to be ready for Voldemort's return and hope that a new hero will rise up to stop him. And it just so happens, he'll be getting the perfect candidate in just a few short years. So, review if you liked go away if you didn't.
Storm out
Hello all Storm here with a new chapter! Here we'll be seeing the real introduction of Naruto and him learning he is a wizard, along with meeting another First Year as well, one we're all familiar with. So, without further ado.
I own nothing
Six years have passed, since the tragic death of the Boy-Who-Lived Harry Potter, with the entire Wizarding World mourning the loss of the young savior.
But eventually, people began moving on, and things continued on as normal, though with some changes happening in the Magical World. Some good changes and some bad changes, but changes all the same.
Currently, within the Headmaster's office at Hogwarts, Dumbledore and McGonagall were looking over the book containing the names of every Hogwarts student, both past and present ones. To see all of the new students that would soon be joining Hogwarts as First Years.
And even after decades of seeing it, Dumbledore still found it amazing how the book was able to record the names of all potential students from the moment they're born. Even now, he could see a few names appearing, and couldn't help, but wonder just how the Founders were able to create such an item.
"He would have joined this year." McGonagall said sadly, with Dumbledore glancing at the Deputy Headmistress, and nodded solemnly in agreement, knowing if he was still alive, this is the year Harry would have joined Hogwarts.
"What do you think he would be like?" Questioned McGonagall, having always wondered if Harry would take after Lily or James in his personality.
"I believe he would have had James personality, but with Lily's heart. Knowing when to laugh and have fun, but willing to do anything to protect his loved ones." Dumbledore replied, imagining Harry would have the best of both his parents.
"Just like his parents. But Merlin, I would hope he wouldn't be a prankster as well, I have enough trouble keeping the twins in line." Said McGonagall, referring to the Weasley Twins, who were just as bad as the Marauders were, during their school years.
Perhaps even worse, since they're always able to somehow get away, before anyone can catch them in the act.
Dumbledore chuckled lightly at that, knowing how much trouble the Weasley Twins can get into.
Though his amusement soon vanished, as his mind drifted to other events that have happened since Harry's death. Two of which being, Dumbledore had resigned from all his positions in Magical Britain's Government, wishing to focus all his attention on being Headmaster of Hogwarts and teaching the next generation.
The second was that Dumbledore had managed to track down and destroy two of Voldemort's Horcruxes.
Dumbledore had always suspected Voldemort had created Horcruxes in his desire for immortality, and with the reveal that Harry himself was a Horcrux, he now knew it was true. And then, it was merely trying to find where Voldemort would hide them, which Dumbledore suspected would be places of great significance to the Dark Lord.
And he was right, as he and the Curse-Breakers were able to locate the first Horcrux within the Gaunt Family Shack, the home of Voldemort's maternal family. With the Horcrux being the Gaunt Family Ring, which had the Resurrection Stone embedded into it, much to Dumbledore's shock.
When Dumbledore first saw the Deathly Hallow, he had been tempted, so very tempted, to put the ring on and use its power to resurrect his sister, Ariana. Thankfully, he had been stopped from putting it on by the Curse-Breakers with him, and learned that it had been enchanted with a powerful curse, that'd kill anyone who put the ring on.
The next Horcrux found was within Hogwarts itself, given Voldemort's fondness for Hogwarts, and his desire to have stayed at the castle, during summer break. Dumbledore suspected he would have hidden a Horcrux in Hogwarts, so part of him would always be found in his former school.
It took some time, but Dumbledore was able to locate the Horcrux within the Room of Requirement, amongst all the clutter in there. And once again, he had been surprised that the Horcrux was Rowena Ravenclaw's Diadem.
With two Horcruxes found, they had been sent to the Goblins to exorcise the soul pieces within, and destroy them, along with removing any curses that Voldemort would have placed on them, as well. After both items were cleansed, they had been returned to Dumbledore, who had placed the Diadem in his office and kept the Resurrection Stone hidden away, safely.
Though the Headmaster couldn't help, but find it ironic and bittersweet. He was now in possession of all three Deathly Hallows, having won the Elder Wand from Grindelwald, found the Resurrection Stone and had it cleansed, and the Cloak of Invisibility, after borrowing it from James Potter. The latter of which, he intended to pass on to Harry, when he entered Hogwarts, but now couldn't.
He had succeeded in his and Grindelwald's dream of locating the Deathly Hallows, and becoming the Master of Death. Now, all Dumbledore wanted, was to get rid of the damn things.
But aside from that, Dumbledore found it concerning how Tom wasn't only able to locate one of the items of the Founders, along with a Deathly Hallow, but managed to turn them into Horcruxes, as well. It made him wonder if Tom had done the same with the other Founders' items as well, if he had succeeded in finding them.
If he did, then it'd make locating the other Horcruxes much more difficult. As without a true Gryffindor, a true Hufflepuff, and a true Slytherin, they wouldn't be able to summon the artifacts from where they're hidden, through the Sorting Hat. And finding a student that truly embodied the aspects of one of those Houses, it'd be like trying to find a needle in multiple haystacks.
Given while Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin all had several students in them, there's a difference between being in a House and proving you were right to be in that House.
Dumbledore pushed those thoughts aside for now, knowing it wouldn't do any good to constantly worry, and resumed looking at all the names for the new First Years.
Only for his eyes to widen, when he saw one of the last names, Naruto Uzumaki. It wasn't the name itself that shocked Dumbledore, it was where he lives.
'Wool's Orphanage.' Dumbledore thought, blinking a few times, hoping he was seeing things, but the words didn't change.
"That appears to be all of them. I'll go, and get ready to greet the Muggleborn students." McGonagall said, after seeing that all the names were finished being listed.
"Actually Minerva, I'll go and greet this young man, Naruto Uzumaki." Said Dumbledore, wanting to go and meet this Naruto himself, to see if he was going to have a second Tom coming to Hogwarts, or not.
"But Albus, I usually greet all the Muggleborns. And you are the Headmaster, and need to prepare for the school year. You couldn't possibly leave Hogwarts now." McGonagall stated, while frowning.
"Nonsense, I'm sure it won't take long to introduce the boy to the Magical World, and take him shopping for his supplies. Besides, I believe I could do with the fresh air." Replied Dumbledore, with McGonagall's frown growing, but nodded reluctantly.
"Fine. But there's another Muggleborn nearby, you'll have to pick up as well, Hermione Granger." Said McGonagall.
"Even better, I'll be happy to help young Ms. Granger and Mr. Uzumaki." Replied Dumbledore, looking forward to meeting two future students.
Along with hoping he wouldn't have to witness history repeating itself.
*Later*
The moment Dumbledore Apparated to Wool's Orphanage, he gained a sense of Déjà vu, remembering the last time he came here to greet a new student. A student that went on to do many terrible things in his life, and was still out there, somewhere.
'Let us hope the only similarity is coming from the same orphanage.' Dumbledore thought, entering the orphanage, after the matron allowed him in.
"I must admit to some confusion upon receiving your letter, Mr. Dumbledore. In all the years Naruto's been here, he's never once had a family visitor." Said the matron, as she guided the Headmaster up the stairs.
"And has anything…strange happened, since Naruto's arrival here?" Dumbledore asked, wanting to be prepared for the worst case scenario.
"If by strange, you mean having to clean up more messes. Then yes, things have been very strange." Replied the matron.
"Messes?" Questioned Dumbledore, worried about the implications behind what "messes" had to be cleaned up.
Only for the matrons next words to both relieve and baffle the wizard.
"Yes messes. One time he stood at the top of the stairs, and just waited for anyone to go up them, before dropping balloons filled with syrup on them, then throwing a bag full of feathers. Another time, he put superglue on all the chairs and tables, making anyone who touched them stuck. He even somehow put pink dye in with the laundry. Honestly, I wonder how he's even able to do half of those pranks." The matron said, with Dumbledore looking at her in surprise.
"Pranks?" Dumbledore asked, with the matron nodding.
"Yes, pranks, along with getting into other such trouble. Don't misunderstand, Naruto is a good boy, but what child his age doesn't start developing a rebellious streak." Replied the matron, with Dumbledore nodding slowly, while his worries of Naruto being like Tom began fading.
"Indeed. And if you don't mind me asking, Naruto Uzumaki sounds Japanese, if I'm not mistaken. Why is that?" Dumbledore asked, confused at the name, since it was obviously not English.
"Yes. Well, from what I was able to learn, Naruto's parents were mixed heritage, his father was of British and Japanese descent, while his mother was Scottish and Japanese. So, his name isn't exactly common here, and with his heritage, his appearance helps him standout." The matron explained.
Eventually, they arrived at a room Dumbledore was quite familiar with from the last time he was here.
"Naruto, you have a visitor." Said the matron opening the door, with Dumbledore seeing a child sitting at the desk, before looking back at them.
'I see what she meant.' Dumbledore thought, seeing that Naruto would certainly stand out.
Naruto has bright spiky blonde hair, lightly tanned skin, cerulean blue eyes, and three odd whisker-like marks on his cheeks. While his attire consisted of an orange, short-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, and a pair of black sneakers with a red Nike symbol on the side. Dumbledore knew he would definitely stand out in a crowd.
"How do you do, Naruto." Dumbledore greeted, entering the room, while glancing around, seeing it hasn't changed much from the last time he was here.
"I'm fine. You're that Dumbledore guy, the one mentioned in that letter I got?" Naruto asked.
"I am indeed. Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." Introduced Dumbledore, with Naruto's eyes widening at how long his name was.
"So, it's true then, I have magic? And I can go to a school to learn how to use it?" Naruto asked, smiling in excitement at the idea of learning to use magic.
"Indeed you do, and you can. At Hogwarts, you will learn to control your magic and use it in many different ways, such as this." Dumbledore said, pulling out his wand, before casting the Aqua Eructo Charm, with a small stream of water shooting from the wand's tip, which he then manipulated into a variety of different shapes and creatures, all while Naruto looked at it in amazement.
"And I'll be able to do that?" Naruto asked, once Dumbledore made the water vanish.
"Will you be able to learn charms such as those, yes. But it takes time, and practice, to successfully cast spells non-verbally. Even longer to cast them, without the use of a wand. But at Hogwarts, you will be on the right path to start learning to do so." Dumbledore replied, pleased that he didn't see any dark gleam in Naruto's expression, only amazement and excitement, along with detecting a hint of mischief.
"When do I start?" Said Naruto, eager to begin learning to use magic, with the Headmaster chuckling lightly.
"Well, first you'll have to get your supplies on the list that came with your letter, which we can do today, if you would like. But first we'll be picking up a fellow First Year, like yourself, who will be joining us." Dumbledore said, motioning the boy to follow him, with Naruto standing up from his chair and following the elderly wizard out of the orphanage.
After exiting the orphanage, and going where no one could see them, Dumbledore had Naruto grab his arm, before they Apparated away.
Once they landed, Naruto stumbled slightly from the sudden transportation, and the feeling of being sucked into a straw.
"Wh-what was that?" Naruto asked, while feeling dizzy.
"That is known as Apparition, a form of transportation. You will have the opportunity to learn it in your Sixth Year at Hogwarts, if you so desire. But to be warned, you must not try and Apparate on your own, it is dangerous and potentially lethal, if done incorrectly." Dumbledore warned, knowing if done incorrectly, one could end Splinching themselves, where they'd end up leaving part of their body behind, when trying to Apparate.
Paling, Naruto nodded, not wanting to know what could happen, if he tried teleporting on his own and failed.
Naruto then looked around, to see where they had Apparated to, seeing they were now in a suburban neighborhood. He followed Dumbledore up to one of the houses, where the Headmaster knocked, with it soon being opened by a woman with dark brown hair, green eyes, and pale skin.
"Good evening, Mrs. Granger, I presume, I am Professor Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts." Dumbledore introduced, with the woman looking at him surprised, before smiling.
"Of course, Professor Dumbledore, yes, Hermione was very excited and pleased, when she received her letter. Please come in, and who is this?" Mrs. Granger asked, while looking at Naruto.
"This is Naruto Uzumaki, he is another new student, much like your daughter." Dumbledore replied, as he and Naruto walked into the home, with Mrs. Granger leading them to the living room, where they saw her husband, Mr. Granger, and a girl Naruto's age.
She has long curly brown hair that reached to her back, with light brown eyes, that shined gold in a certain light, which made her pale skin more pronounce. Her attire consisted of lavender short-sleeved shirt, black jeans, and a pair of white walking shoes with blue highlights.
'She's kind of pretty.' Naruto thought with a faint blush.
"Good evening, Mr. Granger and Hermione. I am Professor Dumbledore, a pleasure to meet you." Dumbledore said, shaking Mr. Granger's hand, along with Hermione's, with the young girl smiling brightly at the wizard.
"You too, sir." Replied Mr. Granger.
"It's an honor, Professor! It was really a surprise, when I got my acceptance letter, learning that I have magic, mum and dad were surprised too, but happy! I have so many questions I want to ask, what are the classes like, will I need any extra books, besides the ones on the list, will we-" Hermione said, with Dumbledore chuckling at her eagerness.
"Easy, dear girl. I will answer any questions you have. But first, allow me to introduce you to one of your future schoolmates." Dumbledore said, motioning to Naruto, with Hermione blushing in embarrassment at basically ignoring their other guest.
"Oh, sorry about that, I was just really excited, when I got my Hogwarts letter, learning that I'm a witch, and getting the chance to learn how to do magic, and learning everything I can about the Magical World! Oh, it's just so excited, isn't it?! Oh right, I'm Hermione Granger, pleasure to meet you." Hermione introduced, smiling at Naruto with her hand held out, with Naruto looking at her with wide eyes at how fast she talked, and everything she said.
"I'm Naruto Uzumaki, nice to meet you, Hermione." Replied Naruto, while shaking her hand and returning the smile.
"Now then, I'm sure you have your own questions." Dumbledore said to Mr. and Mrs. Granger, both of them nodding.
"Yes, but just one to ask right now. How is it Hermione could have magic?" Mr. Granger asked, confused as to how Hermione could have magic, when neither him nor his wife had it.
"That is rather simple. Hermione, and Naruto here, are what's known as Muggleborns, people who are born with magic to those who do not have it, otherwise known as Muggles. As I told Naruto not too long ago, at Hogwarts, Hermione will have the chance to not only learn about magic, but control it as well, to be able to performs spells such as this." Dumbledore said, while performing a Levitation Charms, causing several objects to begin floating around them, much to the amazement of the Grangers, along with Hermione's excitement.
"Mum, dad, can I please go, please!" Hermione said, looking at her parents, hopeful that they'll let her go to Hogwarts.
"Would Hermione be safe at this Hogwarts?" Mr. Granger asked, wanting to make sure his daughter wouldn't be in danger at this school.
"There is no where safer than Hogwarts, in the Magical World." Replied Dumbledore, understanding their concern.
"Then yes, Hermione, you may go." Said Mr. Granger, much to Hermione's joy.
"What do we do first?!" Hermione asked, wanting to start learning everything she could about the Magical World.
"Well first, we will be going to a branch of Gringotts, the Wizarding bank, set up in the Muggle World, where you may exchange money for the Wizarding currency needed for your daughter's school supplies. Afterward, I will take both Naruto and Hermione to Diagon Alley where they can collect everything they'll need." Dumbledore answered.
"Why can't my wife and I go with you?" Questioned Mr. Granger, as he and his wife were hoping to also learn about the new world that their daughter was now part of.
Hearing this made Dumbledore gain a solemn expression.
"Due to a tragedy that happened a few years ago, I'm afraid that Muggles are no longer welcome in the Magical part of Britain, anymore. It is actually why we have set up a Gringotts in the Muggle world, run by Squibs, people without magic, that are born to those with magic. So that families of Muggleborn students, who wish to fund their children's education, such as allowing them to buy their school supplies for example, can still do so by exchanging money at the new Gringotts. Though do not worry, Hermione is in no danger of encountering any problems of being a Muggleborn, herself. As while the tragedy that occurred did worsen the Wizards of Great Britain's opinion on Muggles, it also increased their respect for Half-Bloods and Muggleborns. I promise, your daughter will be perfectly safe." Dumbledore assured, when the Granger's looked worried at the idea of their daughter encountering any problems.
"Alright, well we best get going then." Said Mr. Granger, with Dumbledore nodding in agreement, before they all left to go to Gringotts.
*Later*
After arriving at Gringotts, the Granger's had gotten the proper transaction of Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts for Hermione to get all of her school supplies, along with a little extra, and opened up an account for her at Gringotts, as well. Dumbledore had also told Naruto that he would purchase his school supplies for him, much to the blonde's relief, since that had been something that worried him, not being able to buy his supplies.
Once they left Gringotts, Dumbledore had Apparated himself, Naruto, and Hermione straight to Diagon Alley, with the two children looking around in amazement at everything they saw.
"Yes, it is quite a sight for those seeing Diagon Alley for the first time. Now let us be off, I believe it'd be best to get your trunks first." Dumbledore said, with the two children nodding, before following the Headmaster to various shops, collecting their supplies.
Hermione was especially eager to go to Flourish and Blotts to look at all the books, getting not only the ones on their lists, but many others as well. Naruto also got a few more books as well, wanting to be prepared and ready for when he goes to Hogwarts.
Soon all, that was left to get was there wands, with Dumbledore taking them to a shop called "Ollivanders".
"You won't find a better wand maker than Garrick Ollivander, having made wands for witches and wizards longer than most have been alive." Dumbledore said, as they entered the shop, seeing who they guessed was Ollivander standing behind the counter.
"Ah Albus, good to see you. Thirteen and a half inches, Ebony, Phoenix Feather core, perfect for dueling and Transfiguration." Ollivander said.
"Indeed, it still serves me well." Replied Dumbledore, as even with his possession of the Elder Wand, he still kept his first wand with him as well, and used it from time to time.
"And who are these two, First Years, I presume." Said Ollivander, moving around the counter, while looking closely at Naruto and Hermione.
"Yes, these are Naruto Uzumaki and Hermione Granger." Dumbledore said, with Ollivander humming in thought.
"Never heard of them, Muggleborns correct. Which is your wand arms?" Ollivander questioned, pulling out a measuring tape, while the children blinked in confusion at the question.
"Um, I'm right-handed, sir." Replied Hermione, believing he meant which was their dominant hand.
"I'm ambidextrous, but prefer my right." Naruto said.
"Very well, arms out, back straight!" Said Ollivander, the children doing so, before Ollivander began measuring them.
Ollivander then measured them, shoulder to finger, wrist to elbow, shoulder to floor, even their heads. It made Naruto and Hermione wonder if he did this with all his customers?
"Alright, ladies first, Ms. Granger. Twelve inches, Yew, Unicorn tail hair." Ollivander said, pulling out a wand and holding it out for Hermione to try.
Grabbing the wand, Hermione didn't even get a chance to wave it. before Ollivander immediately snatched it from her hand.
"No, no, not that one. Try this fourteen and a half inches, Holly, Dragon heartstring." Said Ollivander, handing her another wand, which Hermione took more hesitantly, only for it to once again be snatched away.
This continued for several moments, Ollivander giving Hermione a wand to try only to snatch it away, just as quickly. Naruto looked at Dumbledore in confusion, the Headmaster merely nodding, knowing this was normal.
"Alright, this one. Ten and three quarters, Vine, Dragon heartstring." Ollivander said, handing the wand to Hermione.
The moment the wand was in her grasp, Hermione gasped in amazement as she felt a rush of energy, before smiling and waving the wand, releasing several sparkles of light.
"Well done Ms. Granger, you have found your wand! Now then Mr. Uzumaki to find yours." Ollivander said, stopping to look closely at Naruto, humming in thought, before going over and selecting a specific box.
"I'm not sure if this wand will be a match, but let us see." Ollivander said, as he began having Naruto try various different wands, none of which were the right one.
"Perhaps, we may need to try our search for your wand in reverse, Mr. Uzumaki. None of the single core wands seem to be a fit, so let us try the triple core wands, and work our way down, shall we." Ollivander said, as he and Dumbledore were rather intrigued by this, since if Naruto needed a multi-core wand, then he must have very strong and potent magical potential.
"Here we go, Fifteen inches, Blackthorn, triple core with Dragon heartstring, Thunderbird tail feather, and a Rougarou hair. Very powerful, while also being perfect for Transfiguration and mastery of the Dark Arts." Ollivander said, pulling out the dark grey wand with a black leather handle, and handed it to Naruto.
Grabbing the wand, Naruto shivered as he felt energy course through him, like electricity with sparks dancing along the tip of the wand. Waving the wand created a stream of electricity to emit from it, much to the amazement of Hermione, Dumbledore, and Ollivander.
"Amazing Mr. Uzumaki, truly amazing to have bonded with such a powerful wand. I believe we can expect great things from you." Ollivander said in excitement at having found the wielder of that wand.
'Indeed.' Dumbledore mentally agreed, knowing with a wand such as that one, Naruto will be quite the wizard.
After paying for their wands, the three left the wand shop.
"Well, I do believe that is everything you both will need to for your First Year. But as we still have some time, how about you both continue to explore the Alley and the shops, I will wait by the exit to take you both home, when you are ready." Dumbledore said.
This made Naruto and Hermione smile widely, before nodding, wanting to continue seeing more of Diagon Alley, and the shops that they didn't get to visit.
Seeing the two children walk off in a hurry, Dumbledore smiled lightly, while feeling that both Naruto and Hermione will be two very extraordinary students, when they arrive at Hogwarts.
Though Dumbledore's smile soon vanished as he turned serious, before heading to Gringotts, knowing now was the perfect chance to fulfill his favor to Nicholas Flamel.
So, what did you think, good. Yep Dumbledore has met Naruto in the very same orphanage as another young wizard, thankfully with Naruto not having quite as twisted a personality. With him being genuinely excited to learn magic, for the right reasons. We then see him and Dumbledore meeting Hermione with the two young Muggleborns then going off for their shopping, with Hermione getting her canon wand and Naruto getting a unique triple core wand. Finally Naruto and Hermione are off exploring Diagon Alley, with Dumbledore taking the chance to fulfill a favor to his old Alchemy teacher. So, review if you liked go away if you didn't.
Storm out
Hello all Storm here with a new chapter! Here we'll be seeing Naruto and Hermione arriving at Hogwarts, along with a flashback of their time at Diagon Alley where they meet some interesting characters along with getting their pets and some books on very interesting subjects. So, without further ado.
I own nothing
Naruto entered his room, back at Wool's Orphanage, wheeling his trunk inside, while also carrying all his books, robes, wand, and all the other supplies that he had gotten at Diagon Alley. Though there was also the addition of a pet carrier on top of the trunk.
Once inside his room, Naruto closed the door and opened the carrier.
"Okay Kurama, we're here, you can come out." Naruto said, getting a yip in response, before a reddish-orange blur exited the carrier and jumped onto the desk.
The blur in question was actually a fox kit, that was just slightly bigger than a full grown cat. The fox had red-orange fur, with black fur around its eyes, that stretched out to its long ears, and crimson-red eyes with slit pupils.
This was Naruto's pet fox, whom he named Kurama, and gotten at the Magical Menagerie at Diagon Alley. Thinking of how he got Kurama, Naruto's mind drifted back to when Dumbledore let him and Hermione explore the Alley some more, and everything else that happened.
*Flashback*
After leaving Professor Dumbledore, Naruto and Hermione looked around Diagon Alley, looking at all the different shops. Eventually they returned to Flourish and Blotts, wanting to see if there were any other books that might be useful to purchase.
'She must really like books.' Naruto thought, smiling slightly, when Hermione immediately ran off, looking through all the shelves of various books, picking out any that caught her attention.
Going to get his own books, Naruto picked out a few on Charms, Jinxes, Hexes, Curses, Potions, and Transfiguration. Naruto then paused when he caught sigh of a few interesting books, grabbing one Naruto tilted his head in confusion on what it was about.
'Magic Circuits?' Naruto thought, wondering what those were.
Looking at the other books, Naruto saw they were on subjects called "Elements" and "Origins", which he wasn't sure what they could mean. Curious to find out more, Naruto got two of each of the books, both for himself and for Hermione, in case she doesn't find them. Along with figuring the brunette witch would be interested about them, as well.
Figuring he had gotten enough books; Naruto went to go find Hermione, to see if she's finished looking, as well.
Though he paused, when he heard a sudden crash in the shop, sounding like a stack of books falling down, followed by some shouting.
"What do you think you're doing?!"
Confused by the sudden crash, and worried that Hermione could have been hit by whatever fell, Naruto went to where he heard the crash. But when he found where the crash came from, Naruto frowned when he saw Hermione and an unknown girl standing across from each other, with several books strewned across the floor around them.
The unknown girl was the same age as himself and Hermione, with pale skin, long pale blonde hair, that bordered on white, pulled up into an off-center ponytail on the right side of her head, and pinned with a silver, icicle-shaped tiara, and pale icy blue eyes. Her attire consisted of a black long-sleeved shirt, with neon blue serpentine designs on the sleeves, a silver pendant attached to the collar of her shirt, with a large blue gem, a navy blue skirt that went down to her knees, black leggings, and black mary janes, with neon blue highlights.
Naruto would admit this girl was just as pretty as Hermione, if not for the fact she was currently glaring coldly at the brunette.
"S-sorry, I didn't see where I was going." Hermione said, looking down nervously at the other girl's stare, with the girl scoffing at her response.
"Clearly, hard to see anything, when you're hiding behind a stack of books." Retorted the girl, with Hermione flinching at her words.
"Hey, she already apologized, didn't she." Naruto said, while walking up and defending his new friend, as the two girls turned to looked at him, with Hermione sighing in relief, while the unknown girl gave him a cold look.
"You should learn stay out of business, that doesn't concern you, blondie." She said.
"It is my business, when it concerns my friend." Retorted Naruto, with Hermione looking at him in surprise that he considers her a friend.
"Look, I'm sure what happened was just an accident, and Hermione's already apologized. So, how about rather than yelling at each other, you try to get along, since I'm sure we're all new First Years, going to Hogwarts. Right?" Naruto asked.
"Yes." Replied the girl, coldly, and with a stiff nod.
"Okay, and wouldn't it better if we could get along, rather than being at each other's throats, before the year even started?" Said Naruto, while looking between them.
"He's right, and I am sorry for bumping into you. And my name's Hermione Granger, it's nice to meet you." Hermione said, smiling hesitantly, with her hand held out.
"I'm Naruto Uzumaki." Introduced Naruto.
The girl looked at their offered hands with hard, icy eyes, before scoffing. She then began picking up her books off the ground, before walking away, without a second glance.
"You know it's considered rude to not introduce yourself." Naruto said, now annoyed by this girls attitude, while the girl stopped and looked back at them.
"Daphne Greengrass, now never bother me again." Said Daphne, before leaving the two Muggleborns.
Frowning at Daphne's retreating figure, Naruto looked at Hermione, who was now picking up her own books.
"Are you alright, Hermione?" Naruto asked, while helping the brunette gather her books.
"Yes, I just hadn't been watching where I was going, and accidently bumped into her, knocking all our books down." Hermione replied.
"And you apologized, so she shouldn't have acted like that, especially since it was an accident." Said Naruto, with Hermione looking up at him.
"Naruto, did you mean what you said? That we're friends?" Hermione asked, worried that he hadn't actually meant it.
"Of course I meant it, we're friends, if you want to be, Hermione." Said Naruto, with Hermione smiling brightly, before hugging Naruto, surprising the blonde.
"I'd like that a lot." Hermione said, happy to have made a friend, before she even arrived at Hogwarts.
"Great. Also, I saw some books that looked interesting, and I grabbed some copies for you, as well." Said Naruto, handing Hermione the spare copies of the books on "Magic Circuits", "Elements", and "Origins".
"Really?! Oh thank you, I'm sure these will be great!" Hermione replied, excited to learn even more about the Magical World, though she was a little confused at the books topics and what they meant, but it only made her more interested in the chance to read them.
After they had gathered all of Hermione's fallen books, the two went to the counter, and finished their purchases, before leaving the shop.
"Hey Hermione, were you going to get a pet?" Naruto asked, as they stopped in front of Magical Menagerie.
"Hm, I thought about it, but wasn't sure if I'd get an owl, or a cat." Replied Hermione.
"Well let's see what animals they have in here and see." Naruto suggested, having considered getting a pet, as well.
Nodding in agreement, the two Muggleborns entered the store, only to be surprised at all the animals, and sounds within.
Toads, cats of every color, owls, rabbits, ravens, bats, ferrets, rats, and dozens more types of animals that they could imagine as a pet.
Shaking off their surprise, Naruto and Hermione began walking around the shop, seeing if any of the animals caught their attention.
Looking at all the different animals, Naruto didn't really see any that had his attention, and he didn't really feel like getting an owl, toad, or a cat. Since he felt that was just too stereotypical for a witch or wizard to have.
Suddenly, Hermione came running up to him, with an excited smile, while holding what Naruto felt was either a very large cat, or a small tiger. The feline having ginger-colored fur, a squashed face, yellow eyes, and a bottlebrush tail.
"Uh, Hermione, what is that?" Naruto asked, Hermione petting the feline, which purred contently in her arms.
"He's my new cat, or he will be, when I purchase him. Isn't he gorgeous, I think I'll call him…Crookshanks." Said Hermione, smiling at the now named Crookshanks.
"What about you Naruto, did you find a pet?" Hermione asked, looking at the blonde, who shook his head, while looking around.
Though before Naruto decided to stop, and hold off on getting a pet, he caught sight of an animal laying on top of a cage, which Naruto recognized as a fox.
"Hey there, little guy." Naruto said, smiling at the fox, who opened its eyes, showing they had a crimson red color, that looked at Naruto boredly.
Picking the fox up, Naruto smiled, and knew this was the pet he wanted.
"A fox?" Hermione said, finding it an unusual choice for a pet.
"Yeah, it'd be cool have a pet fox. Hm, I'll call him, Kurama." Said Naruto, with the fox perking up at the name, and looked at Naruto.
"You like that name, Kurama?" Naruto said.
Surprisingly, the fox, or now Kurama, nodded.
"Great, then I guess we can go-AAAAAAHHH!" Naruto said, only to suddenly scream, when Kurama opened his mouth and unleashed a blast of flames at Naruto's head.
Hermione screamed in fear and panic at seeing the fox suddenly breathe fire, even worse was that it hit Naruto straight in the face. Soon Kurama stopped breathing fire, showing Naruto's soot covered face; thankfully, it wasn't burnt. Naruto's eyes were wide open in shock, as he coughed up smoke from the sudden flames.
"Naruto! Are you alright?!" Hermione asked in worry, with Naruto nodding slowly.
"Yeah, I'm fine-GAAAH!" Said Naruto, before a jet of water was sprayed in his face, which cleaned the soot off his face, but also got him wet.
When the water stopped, Naruto and Hermione saw the perpetrator was a teenage girl, probably seventeen-years-old, looking at them with wide eyes.
The girl had a pale heart-shaped face, dark twinkling eyes, and short, shoulder-length hair, that was a surprising bubblegum pink color. Her attire consisted of black boots, black leather pants with dark yellow trimming, a red tank top, and a black leather jacket, with a gray hood attached.
"Uh, ehehehe, sorry about that. I was outside, when I saw the sudden fire, and rushed in to make sure no one was hurt, and to put it out." The girl said sheepishly, before giving a complicated wave with her wand, unleashing a stream of hot air that instantly dried off Naruto.
"Thanks. And yeah there was a fire from this one, but thankfully, it wasn't really dangerous." Naruto said, while motioning to Kurama.
While he had been surprised, and afraid, at the sudden flames launched at him, they thankfully didn't hurt. At most, it felt like having his face close to something really hot for too long.
"Wow, a fox that can breathe fire. I think you might actually have a kitsune, or at least a fox that's descended from a kitsune." Said the teen, while leaning down to look at Kurama in amazement.
"A kitsune? As in a Japanese fox spirit?" Asked Hermione, while looking at Kurama in interest now, with Naruto also being interested at learning how he wasn't getting an ordinary fox.
"Yep, though looking at the little guy, I'd say he's descended from a kitsune, rather than an actual one. Since if that had been real foxfire, your entire head might have melted off." The teen said, with Naruto gulping at that information, but was still interested in what else to expect.
"What else could you tell us about kitsune?" Naruto asked, with the girl thinking it over.
"Hm, if I remember correctly kitsune can grow to be giant, easily the size of a mountain, if not larger; while also having the ability to shape-shift into anything, even people; along with being masters of illusions. But given how this one is just part kitsune, he'll probably not grow that big, but still pretty big. And while he may have the ability to shape-shift and cast illusions, I don't see him being able to take on a human form, nor will his illusions be as strong as an actual kitsune's. By the way, the name's Tonks." Tonks said, as she introduced herself with smiling, with Naruto and Hermione smiling back at her.
"I'm Hermione Granger." Replied Hermione.
"I'm Naruto Uzumaki, nice to meet you, Tonks. Are you a Hogwarts student?" Naruto asked, with Tonks nodding proudly.
"Yep, I'm starting my Seventh and final year at Hogwarts, and a member of Hufflepuff." Tonks replied, proud of her House.
"Hufflepuff?" Questioned Hermione, with Tonks looking at her in surprise, before looking at Naruto who was equally confused, before it dawned on her.
"Oooh, your Muggleborns and Firsties, aren't you?" Tonks said grinning, with the two Muggleborns nodding.
"Well, at Hogwarts, there are four Houses, my House is Hufflepuff, while the other three are Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and Slytherin. For First Years, like you two, you'll be sorted into one of the Houses, when you arrive." Tonks replied, with Naruto and Hermione nodding at this, while curious of just how they'll be "sorted".
"Is something wrong with Slytherin?" Naruto asked, having noticed how Tonks frowned, when she mentioned Slytherin House.
"Eh, not really, but in recent years, Slytherin has gotten a bad rep, given some really bad witches and wizards came from there. But don't think all of them are bad, my mum was a Slytherin, and she's one of the nicest witches around. Even if she has a terrible taste in names." Said Tonks, while muttering the last part to herself.
"By the way, I have to ask, are those whisker marks real?" Tonks asked, curious about Naruto's whisker marks, wondering if they were real, or drawn on.
"Huh? Yeah, they're real, I was born with them." Replied Naruto, with Tonks leaning in with a glint in her eyes.
Before Naruto could react, Tonks quickly raised her hand and stroked one of Naruto's whisker marks, getting a reaction neither she, nor Hermione, expected.
Hermione and Tonks looked at Naruto with wide eyes, while the blonde himself also had wide eyes, with his face turning red in embarrassment. Even Crookshanks and Kurama looked at Naruto in surprise at his reaction.
"Did you just…" Hermione said, unable to believe what just happened, while a smile slowly appeared on her face.
"No, I didn't!" Naruto hissed, with his face was red in embarrassment.
"You did, you totally did!" Said Tonks, looking at Naruto with her mouth sporting a large, wide grin, while her pupils suddenly transformed into gold stars.
Before Naruto could react, Tonks wrapped her arms around him, and held him close against her chest. Naruto's blush intensified at feeling Tonks' breasts pressed against his head.
"You actually purred! That is adorable! Come on, do it again!" Tonks said, eagerly about stroke his whisker marks again, to make Naruto purr more.
Though before she could, Naruto quickly escaped her grasp, and ran up to the counter, where he quickly paid for Kurama, along with a carrier, before immediately running out the shop to escape Tonks.
"Well, I better catch up to him. Bye Tonks, see you at Hogwarts." Hermione said, waving at the older witch, who nodded eagerly, while still sporting a large grin.
"See you Hermione, and tell Whiskers I'll be sure to see him soon!" Said Tonks, planning to make the most of her last year at Hogwarts, and tease Naruto relentlessly, along with petting those whiskers.
Nodding, Hermione smiled, knowing it'll be fun seeing Naruto at Tonks's mercy.
Going over to pay for Crookshanks, a carrier, and food, along with some fox food for Kurama, which Naruto had forgotten in his desire to escape. Hermione left the Magical Menagerie, and went to meet with Naruto and Dumbledore.
Once there, Hermione saw her blonde friend and Headmaster were already there, with Naruto looking particularly eager to leave. Likely afraid Tonks would suddenly appear, and try petting his whiskers.
"Ah there you are, Ms. Granger. When Naruto came running up alone, I feared you might have gotten lost." Dumbledore said.
"No Professor. We just had met with an older Hogwarts student, while getting our pets, with it being an interesting meeting." Hermione said, while smirking at Naruto.
"Oh, and what student did you meet?" Dumbledore asked.
"A Seventh Year Hufflepuff, named Tonks." Answered Hermione.
"Ah, you met Nymphadora. Yes, she can be quite enthusiastic at times." Dumbledore said.
"Wait, her first name's Nymphadora?" Asked Naruto, his eyes gleaming, as he planned to use that to make sure she wouldn't touch his whiskers again.
"Indeed, but don't let her know that. She has made it clear to all her fellow students, that to do so would be a grave mistake." Said Dumbledore, knowing Tonks' dislike of her first name, and anyone who called her it would soon regretted it.
"Well if you both are done with your shopping; we may take our leave." Dumbledore said, looking at the two, who both nodded, having gotten everything they needed, and more.
"Very well, let's be off. Tomorrow, I will take you to the Hogwarts Express, and show you how to enter Platform Nine and Three-Quarters." Said Dumbledore, before putting a hand on both Muggleborns shoulders, before all three of them Apparated away.
*End Flashback*
Naruto still dreaded the last thing Hermione told him, that Tonks will be waiting for him at Hogwarts. The only relief he had, is that she's in her final year, and won't be able to get him after this year.
"Well Kurama, aside from Tonks now being after me, I am excited to go to Hogwarts tomorrow. What about you?" Naruto asked, while picking up his fox.
Kurama nodded in agreement, before immediately unleashing another blast of fire on Naruto's face.
*Timeskip-One Day*
Not long after Naruto woke up, Dumbledore had arrived to pick up the boy, before they went and grabbed Hermione, as well.
The Headmaster had then taken the two Muggleborns to King's Cross Station, and showed them the secret entrance to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, by walking towards the barrier separating Platforms Nine and Ten, on the Muggle side.
The moment Naruto and Hermione had gone through the barrier, they had been greeted to the sight of a crowd of parents seeing their children off to Hogwarts. Along with being amazed when they saw the large, bright crimson-red Hogwarts Express.
After shaking off their surprise, the two had boarded the train, and found an empty compartment to stay in, until they reached Hogwarts.
"Naruto, when you got your wand, did you feel a sudden rush of energy? Along with your temperature suddenly go up?" Hermione asked, not long after they got settled in their compartment.
"Uh, yeah, I did feel energy when I got my wand, and yeah, I started feeling pretty warm afterwards. Why?" Said Naruto, confused at the seemingly random question.
"So did I. And I asked, because I think that was our Magic Circuits opening up!" Hermione said in excitement.
"Our, Magic Circuits?" Asked Naruto, being confused further, while remembering the books he had gotten them about "Magic Circuits".
"Yes, didn't you read the books last night?" Hermione asked.
"I read a couple of them, but didn't get to the Magic Circuit one, yet." Naruto replied.
"Well the basics are that Magic Circuits are what allow a person to be a Magus, a different type of magical that practice Magecraft, otherwise known as magical science, using science to perform magic. Anyway Magic Circuits are considered a pseudo-nervous system that spread throughout a Magus's body, and act as pathways to convert Life Force into magical energy, but eventually, people learned to control them and perform mysteries. Witches and Wizards have them too, but rarely use them, since they prefer to use wands, or other magic enhancing items. I know this, because from what the book said, Magic Circuits are "opened" for the first time, when magical energy runs through them, like when we got our wands, along with a Magus's body temperature increasing, with the use of their Magic Circuits. Those are just the basics anyway, the book takes the time to explain it, I haven't even finished it yet, and can't wait to see what else there is!" Hermione said excitedly, before pulling out the Magic Circuits book to continue, where she left off.
Meanwhile, Naruto looked at her with wide eyes, both at how much she said in a single breath, and at learning just what Magic Circuits were. Now even more curious about them, Naruto pulled out his own book to begin reading about them, as well.
Eventually, they felt the train begin moving, signaling they were on their way to Hogwarts.
They continued reading their books during the entire trip, with Naruto becoming more and more amazed at what he read about Magic Circuits, and what Magus could do once they were awakened.
'It'd definitely be useful, if I ever lost my wand.' Naruto thought, knowing if he learned Magecraft, he wouldn't end up being helpless, if he lost his wand.
Though partway through the trip, there was a knock at the compartment door, bringing Naruto and Hermione out of their reading. The door then opened, revealing a boy their age with a round face and brown hair.
"Excuse me, either of you wouldn't happen to have seen a toad, would you?" The boy asked, while looking around the compartment, with Naruto and Hermione shaking their heads.
"No, we haven't seen a toad." Replied Naruto.
"Alright, my pet toad Trevor got away, and I've been looking for him." Said the boy, about to leave, before Hermione spoke up.
"Well if you want, we could help you find him." Offered Hermione.
"Really?" The boy asked, surprised at the offer.
"Yeah. By the way, I'm Naruto Uzumaki." Naruto replied, as he and Hermione stood up.
"I'm Hermione Granger." Introduced Hermione,
"Neville Longbottom, and thanks for the help." Neville said, shaking their hands.
"No problem, Neville. Let's go." Said Naruto, as they left the compartment to begin searching the train to find the missing toad, while going to different compartments, asking the students if they've seen Neville's toad.
Though so far, after searching about five train cars, they haven't had any luck in find the toad, though they did meet some of their fellow First Years, such Susan Bones, Hannah Abbott, Terry Boot, Lisa Turpin, the twins Padma and Parvati, Dean Thomas, and Seamus Finnigan. Along with some of the upper years as well, like Percy Weasley, Penelope Clearwater, and Cedric Diggory. Thankfully, they didn't run into Tonks, much to Naruto's relief.
"Have you seen a toad? A boy, named Neville, lost one." Hermione said to the next compartment, which only had a ginger boy, with a rat, inside.
"A toad? Now, haven't seen one." Replied the boy, shaking his head, with Hermione nodding in thanks, before closing the door.
"I think we've searched most of the train." Said Naruto, frowning, since they haven't found Trevor anywhere, and no one else has seen him, either.
"Well thank you for the help, Naruto, Hermione, but I can keep searching, and if I can't find him, I know Trevor will turn up eventually." Neville said, since this isn't the first time, he's lost track of Trevor, and knew he'd show up soon.
"Okay, good luck Neville." Hermione said, before she and Naruto returned to their compartment, with Neville doing the same.
Not long after returning to their compartment, they heard a voice echo through the train.
"We will be reaching Hogwarts in five minutes' time. Please leave your luggage on the train, it will be taken to the school separately."
"Guess we better change into our robes. I'll wait outside." Naruto said, with Hermione nodding in thanks, before the blonde exited the compartment.
After waiting a few moments, Hermione came out, and let Naruto go in to change into his robes. Though as he was changing, Naruto paused when he thought he heard muffled giggling outside the compartment.
Confused, Naruto finished changing, and opened the door to see if Hermione was laughing at something.
"Hey, what are you laughing, just no-." Naruto said, only to stop and pale, when he saw Tonks grinning at him, wearing her yellow and black Hufflepuff robes.
"Hi, Whiskers~." Said Tonks, with Naruto looking at Hermione, who was trying to suppress her laughter.
"Sorry, I actually ran into Tonks, while we were searching, and told her what compartment we were in." Hermione said, with Naruto looking as if he had been struck by the betrayal.
Before Naruto could try and close the compartment door, Tonks had already started petting his whiskers.
"I don't know what you're upset about. A hot girl like me petting you should be a dream come true." Tonks said, while entering the compartment.
"I-it's em-embarrassing." Naruto said, trying to get as far away from Tonks, only for the older witch to keep sitting next to him.
"Oh that's adorable. But give it a few years, and then maybe we'll see about doing a different kind of petting." Tonks said, grinning wickedly, with the two Muggleborns eyes widening at her words.
"Yo-you're crazy!" Naruto said, only for Tonks to laugh madly.
"Ah, thank you! Mum always said Blacks had to have a little crazy in them!" Said Tonks.
"Blacks? I thought your name was Tonks?" Hermione asked.
"My mum's family, a lot of traditional supremacists and crazies. I'll tell you later, I want to use the next five minutes for something better!" Tonks said, before she resumed petting Naruto, who looked at Hermione for help.
Only for the Muggleborn witch to resume reading her book, and hide her grin.
'Traitor.' Naruto thought, before lowering his head in resignation.
*Later*
The moment they arrived at the station, Naruto couldn't get off the train fast enough to escape Tonks, while giving Hermione the evil eye, for not helping him.
Once everyone was off the train, with the Second Years and up going over to some carriages without horses, while the First Years remained on the platform. Though they didn't have to wait long, until a lantern appeared over the student's heads.
"Firs' years! Firs' years over here!"
Naruto and Hermione looked in surprise at the giant of a man that appeared before them, standing over twice as tall as the First Years.
"C'mon, follow me, any more firs' years? Mind yer step, now! Firs' years follow me!" The man said, before leading the First Years down a steep and narrow path.
"Ye' all get yer firs' sight o' Hogwarts in a sec, jus' round this bend here." The man said, getting some excited whispers from the First Years.
The narrow path had suddenly opened onto the edge of a great black lake. Perched atop a high mountain on the other side, its windows sparkling in the starry sky, was a vast castle, with many turrets and towers.
"Wow." Naruto muttered in amazement at seeing Hogwarts for the first time, surprised to see it was a castle, and at just how huge it was.
"It's incredible." Said Hermione, equally amazed.
"No more'n four to a boat!" The man said, pointing to a small fleet of boats on the shore.
Naruto and Hermione got into a boat, being joined by Neville and Susan.
"Everyone in? Right then, FORWARD!" Said the man, before the boats started moving across the water.
"Heads down!" Yelled the giant man, as the first boats reached the cliff.
They all bent their heads, and the little boats carried them through a curtain of ivy, that hid a wide opening in the cliff face. They were carried along a dark tunnel, which seemed to be taking them right underneath the castle, until they reached a kind of underground harbor, where they clambered out onto rocks and pebbles.
"Oy, Neville! Is this your toad?" The man asked, picking up a toad in his large hand.
"Trevor! Thank you, Hagrid." Neville said, smiling at having his pet back.
"Hagrid?" Naruto asked, when Neville came back over.
"Yeah, he's the Gamekeeper at Hogwarts. Don't let his size intimidate you, he's a really great guy." Neville answered, having met Hagrid a few times, growing up.
Hagrid then lead them up a passageway in the rock, soon stepping onto dry grass, before leading them up to a large oak front door. Once they were at the door, Hagrid raised his fist, and knocked loudly on it.
The door swung open at once. A tall, black-haired witch, with a stern face in emerald-green robes stood there.
"The firs' years, Professor McGonagall." Said Hagrid, with McGonagall nodding.
"Thank you, Hagrid. I will take them from here." McGonagall replied.
She pulled the door wide open. The entrance hall was giant, while the stone walls were lit with flaming torches. The ceiling was too high to make out, and a magnificent marble staircase facing them, led to the upper floors.
They followed Professor McGonagall across the flagged stone floor. Naruto could hear the sound of hundreds of voices from a doorway to the right, showing the rest of the school must already be here, but Professor McGonagall showed the first years into a small, empty chamber off the hall. They crowded in, standing rather close together, than they would usually have done, peering about nervously.
"Welcome to Hogwarts, the start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory, and spend free time in your house's common room." McGonagall explained, looking around to make sure she had their full attention.
"The four Houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house has its own noble history, and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rule breaking will lose house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup, a great honor. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours. The Sorting Ceremony will take place in a few minutes, in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all smarten yourselves up as much as you can, while you are waiting." McGonagall said.
"I shall return, when we are ready for you, please wait quietly." McGonagall instructed, before exiting the chamber.
"How do you think we'll be sorted?" Naruto asked, while looking at Hermione, who hummed in thought.
"I'm not sure, perhaps a test of sort, to see which House we'd best be suited for, or asking us a few questions." Hermione said, having not found out just how students were sorted from reading "Hogwarts, A History".
Naruto nodded slowly, before looking around the room, only to suddenly turn deathly pale and scream loudly, along with several other students, while others gasped.
The reason, twenty ghosts floating through the back wall, gliding across the room.
One thing about Naruto, was the fact that he was completely terrified of ghosts. You couldn't fight them, couldn't touch them, but they can touch you and possess you! All you can do is run!
"Naruto, are you alright?" Hermione asked, worried at seeing her friend was shaking, and looked incredibly pale.
"Gh-gh-gh-gh-ghosts." Naruto stuttered in fear.
Looking at the ghosts, Hermione realized the problem.
"You're afraid of ghosts." Said Hermione, with Naruto nodding, still terrified at the ghosts' presence.
Naruto only relaxed, when McGonagall returned and ushered the ghosts away, while the Sorting Ceremony began.
"Now, form a line, and follow me." McGonagall told the First Years, leading them into the Great Hall.
Looking to McGonagall, Naruto saw her placing a stool in front of the First Years, and setting an old dusty hat down it. Then to the surprise of many, the hat started twitching, and then he started to sing.
"Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, if you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!"
Everyone burst into cheers as the song ended, while Naruto looked at the hate with wide eyes.
"When I call your name, you will put on the hat and sit on the stool to be sorted." McGonagall said, unrolling a large roll of parchment.
"Abbott, Hannah!"
A pink-faced girl with blonde pigtails stumbled out of line, put on the hat, which fell right down over her eyes, and sat down.
"HUFFLEPUFF!" The hate shouted, not even a moment later.
The table on the right cheered and clapped, as Hannah went to sit down at the Hufflepuff table.
"Bones, Susan!"
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
"Boot, Terry!"
"RAVENCLAW!"
The table second from the left clapped this time; several Ravenclaws stood up to shake hands with Terry, as he joined them.
On and on the names went, with students going to Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. The next person called was Hermione.
"Granger, Hermione!"
"GRYFFINDOR!" The hat shouted, after a few moments.
Naruto smiled at his friend, as she sat at the red and gold table. The sorting continued, until Naruto heard a familiar name being called.
"Greengrass, Daphne!"
Looking, Naruto saw the girl from Diagon Alley walk up to the stool, with all the grace of a princess. He watched as the hat was lowered onto her head, before it shouted her House name after a few moments.
"SLYTHERIN!"
Naruto watched, as Daphne walked over to the green and silver table, before turning back to the sorting hat, while seeing that Neville was also sorted into Gryffindor.
Given his last name, Naruto was one of the last students to be sorted, and had to wait a while, before his name was called.
"Uzumaki, Naruto!" McGonagall said, with Naruto walking up to the stool, and sat down, as the hat was lowered onto his head.
"Hm, Naruto Uzumaki, a rather unique name I must say." Said the Sorting Hat.
'It means Maelstrom.' Naruto thought, with the hat chuckling.
"So it does. Now then where to put you…hm, yes, plenty of kindness and willingness to help others, that you'd fit in perfectly in with the badgers. You also have cunning and resourcefulness to pull off those pranks, and not get caught, perfect for the House of Salazar. Along with desiring to learn all that you can about the Magical World, and tending to think outside the box, much like any Ravenclaw. And lastly, you have courage and bravery in spades, so much so, that you would risk your life for those you care about. Well my boy, this is quite the conundrum, you seem to have traits of all four Houses, and I'm having trouble deciding where you'd fit in best. Heh, if this were Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, I'd let you decide what House you'd go to." Said the Sorting Hat, chuckling, before thinking it over, until finally it called out the House name.
"GRYFFINDOR!"
Naruto smiled at the House he was in, having wanted to go to Gryffindor in the first place, even more so, since that's the House Hermione is in.
Going over to the Gryffindor table, Naruto sat beside Hermione, and across from Neville.
The last two students to be sorted were the ginger boy from the train, Ron Weasley, who went to Gryffindor, and Blaise Zabini, who went to Slytherin.
Once everyone was sorted and seated, Dumbledore had gotten to his feet. He was beaming at the students, his arms opened wide.
"Welcome, welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak! Thank you!" Dumbledore said, before sitting down.
"What, what does that mean?" Naruto asked, confused at what sounded like gibberish, while Percy chuckled.
"He's referring to the four Houses, using the opposite of what they mean. Nitwit for Ravenclaw, the House of Knowledge, Blubber for Gryffindor, the House of the Brave, Oddment for Slytherin, the House of Cunning, and Tweak for Hufflepuff, the House of Loyalty. Potatoes, Naruto?" Percy said, while offering a plate of potatoes.
Looking, Naruto was shocked to see the dishes in front of him were now piled with food.
Not needing to be told, Naruto eagerly began putting food on his plate, to dig in.
Partway through the feast, Naruto overheard Fred and George Weasley, Percy's younger brothers, talking about something he was very familiar with, pranks. With the blonde eagerly jumping into the conversation, the twins more than happy to include him, after hearing some of the pranks he's pulled, and they began trading notes.
Eventually, the food disappeared, and was replaced with desserts, with Naruto grabbing the different ice creams.
It wasn't long until the desserts disappeared, as well, with Dumbledore standing up, getting everyone's attention.
"Ahem, just a few more words, now that we are all fed and watered. I have a few start-of-term notices to give you. First years should note that the forest on the grounds is forbidden to all pupils. And a few of our older students would do well to remember that, as well. I have also been asked by Mr. Filch, the caretaker, to remind you all that no magic should be used between classes, in the corridors. And finally, Quidditch trials will be held in the second week of the term. Anyone interested in playing for their house's team, should contact Madam Hooch." Dumbledore said, looking around at all the students.
"And now, before we go to bed, let us sing the school song!" Said Dumbledore.
Naruto couldn't help but notice how the other teachers' smiles became rather fixed, as Dumbledore lead the students in singing the school song.
"Ah, music. A magic beyond all we do here! And now, bedtime. Off you trot!" Dumbledore said, dismissing the students.
The Gryffindor first years followed Percy through the chattering crowds, out of the Great Hall, and up the marble staircase. Naruto was feeling like his legs were made of stone, due how tired he was, and all the food he ate.
Though he did notice how all the portraits they passed were in fact real, with the people inside whispering and pointing at them. They climbed more staircases, yawning and dragging their feet, with Naruto wondering how much farther they had to go, before they came to a stop.
Looking, Naruto saw they had arrived at the top of a set of stairs, where a portrait of a fat lady in pink a silk dress was hung.
"Password."
"Caput Draconis." Percy answered, before the portrait swung open, revealing the Gryffindor Commons Room, a cozy, round room, full of large comfortable armchairs.
After being directed to where the girls and boys slept, Naruto and Hermione said goodnight to each other, before going off to bed.
Though rather than going to sleep, Naruto got on his bed and pulled the curtains closed, after grabbing something from his trunk.
Seeing this, Kurama jumped onto Naruto's shoulder, to see what he was doing, and saw that the Uzumaki had grabbed a journal from his trunk.
"Oh, hey Kurama, I'm just writing an entry in my journal. I was actually given this a while back, but never really wanted to write anything in it. But now, after coming here and learning about magic, I want to write down everything that happens, everything that I learn, so I never forget any of it." Naruto said, as he started writing down everything that happened, from when he first woke up, to being sorted.
No matter what, Naruto wanted to make sure he remembered everything that happened, during his time at Hogwarts, and in the Magical World.
So, what did you think, good. Yep Naruto has gotten a pet fox/kitsune whom he has named Kurama and who can breathe fire. Along with getting some books on the subject of Magic Circuits, Elements, and Origins, which will definitely be useful later on. Not only that but Naruto and Hermione also met Daphne Greengrass and Nymphadora Tonks in Diagon Alley. It's then off to the Hogwarts Express where they also meet a more confident Neville and several other of their classmates and upper year students. Then they arrive at Hogwarts for the sorting with Hermione going to Gryffindor and Naruto showing traits of all four Houses, before also going to Gryffindor. Finally we see Naruto writing about his day in his journal, wanting to never forget anything he experiences in this new world. Now we have an Omake, getting a look into a certain Magus Killer.
Omake: Heart of a Killer
Kiritsugu Emiya, known in the Magical World as the Magus Killer, and someone feared by all Dark Witches and Wizards, while regarded warily by those of the Light and Grey Factions. Which was a given, as Kiritsugu had made it his mission, during the First Wizarding War against Voldemort, to protect the non-magical side of London, taking out any witch or wizard that threatened innocent lives.
He was notorious for not only his kill count, but that he'd target anyone from any faction, whether they were aligned with Dumbledore or Voldemort, if they endangered non-magical lives.
Kiritsugu had only left Britain after Voldemort had vanished, after attacking the Potter family.
Though after what happened to Harry Potter, the Magus Killer had returned to remind any Death Eaters, that got too cocky, what happens when they enter his line of sight. With him currently targeting one such Death Eater right now, looking at them through the scope of his Walther WA2000.
Not even a second later, Kiritsugu pulled the trigger, before he began disassembling the rifle, and put it in its case. Not even looking at the Death Eater, who was writhing in pain from an Origin Bullet shot through their chest.
Though Kiritsugu paused, when his phone started ringing, and saw it was his wife, Irisviel von Einzbern.
"Hello…Yes, I'll be home soon…Just finishing up a job…See you and Illya soon." Kiritsugu said, before hanging up.
[7:03 PM]
*Timeskip-One Day*
It didn't take long, before Kiritsugu arrived back at the Einzbern's Castle, just as it turned to nighttime, while being greeted by his wife and daughter.
Looking at his daughter, Kiritsugu couldn't help, but gain a small frown as his mind drifted back to when he first learned about the death of the Potter boy. It was a reminder that humans, whether they have magic or not, are cruel beings that will hurt anyone, or anything, they consider unnatural. And after Illya was born, he couldn't help but imagine if it were her in that boy's place, beaten and left to die.
The very thought made Kiritsugu clench his fists, and desire to slaughter anyone that dared touch his child.
'All the more reason for me to win the Holy Grail. So I can create a world where Illya, nor any child, would suffer like he did.' Kiritsugu thought, as he carried Illya off to bed.
He also gave a quick glance to his right hand, showing three red markings on the back of his hand, intertwined in the shape of a sword. Knowing in a few short years, he'll be using this mark.
And then, the real War will begin.
Looks like Kiritsugu will be doing what he can to protect his family this time around, after learning what happened to Harry. Something that'll make him all the more dangerous when the Grail War starts. So, review if you liked go away if you didn't.
Storm out
Hello all Storm here with a new chapter! Here we'll be seeing Naruto's first day at Hogwarts along with a few surprises. Well nothing more to say other than hope you enjoy the chapter. So, without further ado.
I own nothing
September 1st
Entry 2:
Professor Dumbledore came and got me and Hermione, to show us where we can get on Platform Nine and Three Quarters, the hidden platform where the Hogwarts Express is located.
I managed to read the book about Magic Circuits, after Hermione told me just what they were, and it made me excited at the chance to learn how to use Magecraft. Especially since if I ever lost my wand, I'd have something to fall back on, in a fight. Though I also read how dangerous it'd be if a person's Magic Circuits were ever damaged, so I'd have to be careful, when I start learning Magecraft.
We also met another First Year on the train, Neville Longbottom, who seemed like an alright guy, along with helping him search for his pet toad. While we didn't find the toad, we were able to meet more of the other First Years, and some of the upper years, as well.
After searching most of the train, Hermione and I headed back to our compartment to change into our robes, once we were getting close to Hogwarts. Only for Hermione to then betray me, by revealing she had told Tonks what compartment we were in, then forced to deal with Tonks petting my whiskers for the rest of the train ride.
Thankfully, we arrived at the station soon, and I got away as quickly as I could. The First Years were then guided by a giant man named Hagrid, the Gamekeeper at Hogwarts, across a lake where we saw Hogwarts for the first time. It was surprising to see that it was actually a giant castle.
We met one of the teachers, Professor McGonagall, who took us in, and explained the sorting ceremony, which Tonks had told Hermione and I about in Diagon Alley already, so we were prepared for it.
What I wasn't prepared for, was seeing ghosts! Out of everything that had to be real, why did ghosts have to be?!
I just hope I won't see them often.
I was sorted into Gryffindor, along with Hermione and Neville, though the Sorting Hat said I would have fit in with any of the Houses.
The feast had been a surprise at how much food there was, not that I was complaining about it.
Afterwards, all the Houses returned to their respective Common Rooms, with the Gryffindor one being at the top of the stairs, with a portrait guarding it, and only opening after getting the password.
Tomorrow, we'll start classes, and I can't wait to start learning to use magic.
The next morning, Naruto woke up, and saw that the other boys were all still sleeping. This didn't surprise Naruto, given he's always gotten up earlier than most people have.
Exiting the boys' dormitory, Naruto headed down to the Common Room, which he found was also empty. Not a moment later, Naruto began doing his daily exercises of pushups, pullups, and sit ups.
Though while Naruto was focused on finishing his exercises, he didn't hear, or see, Hermione coming down the stairs of the girls' dormitory, already having showered and changed into her uniform. With the brunette witch being surprised to see her friend up this early, along with seeing what he was doing.
"Naruto? Why are you doing sit ups?" Hermione questioned, with Naruto pausing and looked at Hermione, before smiling at her.
"Hey Hermione. I'm just doing what I do every morning. I usually have a lot of energy, making it hard for me to focus sometimes, so I started exercising in the morning, to help burn the energy, and better focus for the rest of the day. And since we'll be starting classes today, I figured it'd be good to burn off most of my energy, so I won't end up getting distracted by something." Replied Naruto, with Hermione surprised to hear this, but also pleased that he's doing what he can to pay attention in class.
Hermione then sat in a chair in front of the fireplace, while Naruto finished up his exercises, before sitting in a chair across from her.
"So, what made you decide to exercise to help burn your energy?" Hermione asked, wanting to learn more about her new friend.
"It actually wasn't my first choice; it was after I started taking martial arts classes." Naruto answered, surprising Hermione again.
"You took martial arts classes? Why?" Said Hermione, now more interested.
"Back at the orphanage, some of the other kids used to make fun of me for my whiskers and name, or some of the older kids pushing me around, it usually ended up with me getting angry and attacking them. But when I started taking classes and actually learning how to fight, they backed off. It also helped that the exercises I started doing after helped me, not have as much energy as I usually do, along with helping me learn to control my temper." Naruto explained, with Hermione frowning at hearing he got into fights, but couldn't fault him for the reasons.
"What about you, what was it like for you before learning about magic?" Naruto asked, wishing to know more about Hermione, and her life prior to discovering magic.
"Oh, well my parents are dentists, and I always enjoyed reading books growing up. I was the top of all my classes in school, which was great, but it…also didn't help me make any friends. No one really wanted to hang around with the "bossy know-it-all"." Hermione said, looking down, while Naruto frowned.
"Well, I don't think your bossy, or a know-it-all, you just like to read and learn new things. They were probably just jealous that they weren't as smart as you. And besides, now you not only have a friend, but you get learn to use magic, as well." Naruto said, with Hermione looking up at him, and smiled.
"I guess that's true, thank you, Naruto." Hermione said, thankful for his words, and that he really did want to be her friend.
The two then continued talking and getting to know each other better, before Naruto decided to go take a shower, and get ready as well.
"Well, look here Gred, we've run into an ickle Firstie."
"Indeed, we have Forge, and the one who is a fellow connoisseur of mischief, as well."
Stopping at the voices, Naruto saw Fred and George standing at the top of the stairs with matching grins.
"Fred and George, or George and Fred." Naruto greeted.
"Ah, now what could you be doing up this early? Wanting to get a head start on the rest of us?" Questioned Fred.
"Or perhaps, he's planning his own schemes and mischief." George finished, with Naruto smirking at the twins.
"Who knows? Maybe, I'm just an early riser, maybe I do want to get a head start, or maybe I am planning something. Maybe something for you two, maybe the moment you go down those steps, you'll suddenly be covered in glue and feathers, or maybe paint, or perhaps there's nothing down there at all, and I'm just messing with your heads. Are you willing to take the chance?" Naruto challenged, while the twins looked at him with neutral expressions, though glancing down the stairs, in case there was something waiting for them.
Though not a moment later, Fred and George burst into laughter.
"Ahahahaha, you're good, really good, trying to mess with our heads. There's nothing waiting down there, that you could have set up that quickly." George said, with Naruto grinning in response.
"Yeah, you're right. But I had enough time to set this up last night." Replied Naruto, before stepping back, away from them, with the twins' eyes immediately widening, before a bag tipped over above them, covering them in white powder.
For a moment, they were silent, before they started laughing again, with Naruto joining in.
"You are good! We didn't expect that on the first day!" George said.
"And that kind of talent is one we could use. What do you say to helping us with a little start of the year prank." Said Fred, with Naruto perking up at this.
"What did you have in mind?" Naruto asked, interested in what they were planning.
"Just something to really start the year off with a bang, we'll be sure to find you, to share the details later." George said.
"But for now, we're still planning." Said Fred.
"And by the way, this means war." Both twins said, motioning to the white powder, with Naruto smirking at their words.
"Then be prepared to lose." Replied Naruto.
The twins then headed to the bathrooms, to clean the powder off, missing how Naruto snickered, when he saw them start to scratch themselves. What they didn't know, was Naruto had mixed itching powder into the baking soda, and doubt they'll realize it for a while now.
'They don't know who they're dealing with.' Naruto thought.
With that, Naruto went to take a shower, and get dressed in his uniform.
After he finished getting dressed, Naruto went back to the Common Room, where Hermione was waiting for him, with both of the First Years heading down to the Great Hall for breakfast.
Upon arriving, they saw students from the other Houses were also present, but not as many as the sorting, last night.
Taking their seats at the Gryffindor table, Naruto and Hermione added some food to their plates and began eating. Though Naruto immediately paled, when a ghost suddenly rose from the table right in front of them.
"Good morning! I do not believe I had the pleasure of making your acquaintance the other night, after the sorting. I am Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington, the ghost of Gryffindor House. An honor to meet two of the newest lions." Nick said, with a short bow.
"It's nice to meet you, Sir Nicholas. I'm Hermione Granger, this is Naruto Uzumaki." Hermione introduced, while Naruto just nodded shakily, still nervous about being this close to a ghost, but not as panicked as he was last night.
"Um, Sir Nicholas, if you don't mind me asking, I heard some of the students refer to you as Nearly Headless Nick, what exactly does that mean?" Asked Hermione, curious of how a ghost could get a nickname like that, while Nick groaned at hearing his nickname, before grabbing his head.
"It means this." Nick said, before he pulled his head off his neck, much to Hermione's shock and disgust, showing it was only attached by a thin piece of skin.
"Oh Merlin, how did that happen?!" Hermione said, not really wanting to know, but she was also morbidly curious.
"The executioner had a blunt axe, it took forty-five swings before I died, but my head was still attached. Thus the students have taken to call me Nearly Headless Nick, but I prefer either my full name, or simply Sir Nicholas." Said Nick, while putting his head back in place.
"Oh, I'm sorry that happened." Said Hermione, before her eyes widened, remembering Naruto and his fear of ghosts.
Looking at her friend, Hermione winced, when she saw that Naruto was now on the floor, having fainted after seeing Nick take off his head.
*Later*
Naruto groaned as he regained consciousness, shaking his head of the dizziness he felt. Opening his eyes, Naruto saw Hermione and Nick hovering over him, with the blonde freaking out when he saw the latter, remembering what he saw. Thankfully, he managed to calm down, and banish the image of the failed decapitation and severed head.
"Naruto, thank goodness you're awake." Hermione said, relieved to see him awake.
"Indeed, and terribly sorry about the scare I gave you, my boy. Your friend here informed me of your fear of my kind." Nick said.
"Yeah, sorry about that." Said Hermione, knowing she's at fault for wanting to know the reason for Nick's nickname.
"I-it's fi-fine." Naruto replied, before looking around in worry, when he saw he was in the Hospital Wing, making him worried he had just missed the first day of classes.
"You didn't miss any classes; you've only been unconscious for a few minutes. Madame Pomfrey was able to give you some fast acting medicine to wake you up. And here, Professor McGonagall gave us our schedules, and what classes we have today, here's yours." Hermione said, seeing Naruto's expression, and guessed what he was thinking, while handing him his schedule.
This relieved Naruto, glad he didn't miss his first day, before looking at his schedule to see what class they had first. Seeing they had Potions with the Slytherins, as their first class of the day, Naruto got out of the bed.
"We have Potions first. Where's the Potions class?" Naruto asked.
"I know where it is, come I shall you show you the way." Said Nick, before floating off, with Naruto and Hermione trailing behind him.
They followed the ghost through the castle, before they started going down to the dungeons. Finally, they arrived at the Potions classroom, where some of the other Gryffindor and Slytherin First Years were present as well, though they didn't see the teacher, Professor Snape, anywhere, to their relief.
Sitting down at one of the tables, the two waited for Snape to arrive, so the class can begin.
"Hey Uzumaki."
Hearing some talk to him, Naruto looked and saw a Slytherin with slicked back bleach blonde hair, gray eyes, and a smirk on his face. Naruto recognized him as Draco Malfoy, from the sorting.
"You sure you should be here, worried you might faint again." Malfoy taunted, having been in the Great Hall when Naruto fainted.
Naruto only gave him a dull look, before turning back to the front of the classroom. Malfoy frowned at this, before his smirk returned.
"Well if you do, at least you'll have Granger to hold your hand and help you." Said Malfoy, only to frown again, when neither of the Gryffindor's rose to the bait.
Before he could try and say something else, the door swung open, and Snape walked into the class with his robes billowing behind him.
Walking up to his desk, Snape turned and faced the students, his black eyes gazing at each of them, before he started taking roll call.
"You are here to learn the subtle science and exact art of potion making." Snape spoke, after finishing roll call.
"As there is little foolish wand-waving here, many of you will hardly believe this is magic. I don't expect you will really understand the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron, with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses…I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper death." Snape said, before turning back to the class.
"What would I get, if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" Questioned Snape, with Hermione's hand immediately shooting up.
"Yes Granger?"
"Powdered root of asphodel and wormwood make a sleeping potion so powerful; it is known as the Draught of Living Death, sir." Hermione replied.
"Correct. Where would you look, if I told you to find me a bezoar?" Snape said, looking around, with Hermione's hand going up again.
"Uzumaki." Said Snape, looking at Naruto, who looked up from writing what was being said.
"A bezoar found in the stomach of a goat, and can be used to cure most poisons, sir." Naruto answered.
"Correct. Now Malfoy, what can you tell me is the difference between monkshood and wolfsbane?" Snape said, while turning to Malfoy.
"There is none, they're the same plant, also known as Aconite, sir." Replied Malfoy.
"Good, so you lot do know something about Potions. And yet I only see Uzumaki writing anything down." Said Snape, as the students immediately began writing down, what was said.
Afterwards, Snape had them paired up, and begin making a Cure for Boils potion, writing the instructions down on the board, while also having them open their books to look at the instructions there, as well.
Naruto and Hermione were paired together, with Naruto going and grabbing the ingredients, before they started working on the potion. All while Snape walked around the classroom, observing the students as they worked, while offhandedly pointing out any mistakes being made.
"Longbottom!" Snape suddenly said, making Neville jump slightly and look at him.
"Yes, Professor?" Neville asked.
"What do you think you're doing?" Questioned Snape.
"Uh, adding the porcupine quills." Replied Neville, confused and worried he did something wrong.
"I can see, but tell me what you are supposed to do, before adding them?" Said Snape, with Neville looking at his book, and gulping.
"You're supposed to take the potion off the fire, and then add the quills." Said Neville, paling when he realized that the potion almost blew up in his face, literally.
"Yes, I'm sure you'll remember to check the instructions, before moving on, next time. Malfoy, if you have time to snicker, I'm sure you have time to work on your own potion." Snape said, not even looking, as Malfoy immediately fell silent, and went back to his own potion.
Naruto and Hermione traded a look, before going back to working on their own potion, as well.
Finally, Potions came to an end with the students turning in their Cure for Boils samples to be graded, with Naruto and Hermione being glad that they were one of better students in the class.
"Hey Neville, you alright?" Naruto asked, as he and Hermione caught up to their fellow Gryffindor.
"Huh? Oh yeah, I'm fine, to be honest, I've actually never been that good at potions, always worried it'll suddenly blow up from a single mistake." Neville replied, not all that bothered at being reprimanded, knowing a single mistake, no matter how small, could have disastrous consequences, when it came to potion making.
With that, they continued on their way, with Hermione excited to see the next class, History of Magic. Something that also interested Naruto, wanting to learn all he can about the Magical World, as well.
*Later*
"How could you stay awake during that; all he did was talk about Goblin Rebellions." Said Naruto, as he and Hermione exited the History of Magic classroom, feeling more than a little underwhelmed at the class.
When they first arrived at the room, Naruto had been freaked out to see that the teacher, Professor Binns, was a ghost. But he was able to calm down, by just focusing on what was being talked about, only to find that difficult, when all Binns did was drone on and on about Goblin Rebellions.
"Don't tell me you fell asleep." Hermione said, scandalized at the thought of sleeping through a class.
"No, because I was worried that I'd suddenly have a ghost floating right in front of me, for sleeping in class. But it was difficult, when all that was being discussed, was the same thing over and over." Said Naruto, having been stuck between wanting to fall asleep from how boring the class was, and not wanting to terrified by Binns appearing in front of him.
"Okay, I'll admit it was…pretty boring, hearing about Goblin Rebellions nonstop. But I'm sure the class will get more exciting, when we get to different subjects." Hermione said, believing one they finish going over the Goblin Rebellions, they'll move onto the more interesting pieces of history.
What Hermione didn't realize, is how wrong she is, but will learn that in the coming months.
"Right. What're the next classes?" Naruto asked, not having the same confidence that the class will get better.
"Let me look. Oh, we have Transfiguration next, and then Defense Against the Dark Arts." Hermione said, with Naruto perking at this, with those two classes being ones he's really interested in, especially the former, since his wand was supposed to be good at Transfiguration.
Arriving at the Transfiguration classroom, it didn't take long, before class started with McGonagall going over the basics of Transfiguration, before having them begin trying to turn a match into a needle. Naruto was, surprisingly, able to get it after a few tries, much to McGonagall's surprise, before awarding him five points for being the first to get it done.
By the time the class ended, only Naruto had succeeded in turning his match into a needle, while Hermione made some progress turning it silver and pointy.
Next was Defense Against the Dark Arts, or DADA, being taught by Professor Quirrell, who had a rather annoying stutter, making it difficult to understand him. Along with smelling like garlic, and something dead.
Thankfully, he still taught the class pretty well, including showing them the Severing Charm, Diffindo, while having them practice on wooden targets.
All in all, it was an interesting first day, and Naruto was eager to see what else they would learn in the coming days.
After DADA, their classes were done for the day, with Naruto and Hermione going outside to read over their books on "Elements" and "Origins", along with some of their other books, and practicing the spells they learned.
They also managed to learn some more spells from their books, such as Incendio, Bombarda, Protego, and Reparo.
The two Gryffindors did this for about two hours, before Hermione decided to go to the library and check out some books, while Naruto went to explore the castle and better familiarize himself with it.
'I swear I doubt I'd be able to find every room and corridor in this place.' Naruto thought, looking around in amazement at how massive the castle was.
Though Naruto was stopped, when he bumped into someone.
"Oh, sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going." Said a female voice.
Looking, Naruto recognize the girl as Susan Bones, from the Hogwarts Express.
Susan had strawberry blonde hair, that fell just passed her shoulders, dark burgundy eyes, and light skin. Her attire consisted of the standard Hufflepuff uniform, with the badger displayed on the left side of her robes.
"It's fine, I wasn't watching where I was going either. It's also nice to see you again, Susan." Naruto said, while picking up the book Susan had been carrying, before handing it back to her, with Susan returning the smile, while grabbing her book.
"Thank you, and you too, Naruto. What are you doing by the way?" Asked Susan, since he didn't seem to be going to a class, or anywhere specific.
"Just looking around, trying to remember where everything is, so I don't get lost." Naruto answered, with Susan nodding at that, as she looked around for a moment.
"Yeah, I heard how magnificent Hogwarts was from my aunt, but she never said just how big it was. I'm just glad that the Hufflepuff Common Room is easy to find." Said Susan, with Naruto nodding nervously, while looking around, as a sudden shiver went down his spine.
"Right, Hufflepuff. Hey, you wouldn't happen to have a met an older Hufflepuff named Tonks, would you?" Naruto asked, hoping for the chance to learn Tonks schedule, to better avoid her and her petting.
"I do actually, she's been really helpful to the First Years, showing us where the classrooms are, and everything. Though she's also pretty clumsy sometimes. Oh, there she is right now." Susan said, while waving at the older Hufflepuff, while Naruto paled at hearing this.
But before he could try and escape, he felt an arm wrapped around his shoulder, keeping him trapped.
"Hey there, little Susie! I see you met Whiskers." Tonks said, grinning at the First Years.
"Whiskers?" Susan asked, looking at Naruto, before taking notice of his whisker marks.
"Yep. And you wanna see something cool?" Said Tonks, while Naruto rapidly shook his head.
"No, no, no! Don't you dareeeeee…" Naruto said, before trailing off, when Tonks began petting his whisker marks.
"Is, is he purring?" Susan asked in amazement and surprise, while moving closer, and saw that Naruto was indeed purring.
"Yeah, he is! It happens, whenever someone pets his whiskers, he tries keeping it secret, but I found out. Isn't that right, Whiskers?" Tonks cooed, while Naruto glared at her, before smirking.
"Yeah, just like you keep it secret that your name is Nymp-GAH!" Naruto said, only to be cut off with a choke, when Tonks moved her arm to now have him wrapped in a headlock.
"I'm sorry, what were about to say?" Tonks asked with a sickly sweet smile, while her hair turned from bubblegum pink to a bright red color.
"Nympha-" Said Naruto, only for Tonks to tighten her grip, with her now sporting a tic mark on her head, as her right eye began twitching in annoyance.
"See, that's what I thought you were trying to say. Now let me tell you why that would be a very bad idea, both calling me that, and if you think of telling anyone. If you do, I'll tell every single girl in this castle what happens, when they pet your whiskers, you know what that means." Tonks said, as Naruto paled at the idea of that happening.
He'd never have a moment of peace again!
"Okay, okay! You win, I won't say it!" Said Naruto, his desire to not be mobbed by girls to pet his whiskers outweighing his desire to have leverage against Tonks.
"See, I knew you'd see it my way." Said Tonks, smirking, while her hair turned back to her preferred pink color, before she resumed petting his whiskers, before looking at the stunned Susan.
"You wanna try." Tonks said
Susan looked between Tonks, feeling a little afraid of her, after her previous display, and to Naruto, who looked at her pleadingly for help. Eventually, her desire to try won out, and Susan began petting Naruto's whiskers marks too, smiling as he started purring, unwillingly.
'Why me?' Thought Naruto, hanging his head as he was at the mercy of both girls.
*Later*
Hermione eventually came upon the scene, giving Naruto the opening he needed to escape Susan and Tonks, leading to them hanging out some more, along with seeing what books she got from the library.
When it was time, they then headed to the Great Hall for dinner.
However, unknown to Naruto, Hermione kept glancing at him, ever since she saw him with the two Hufflepuff students, more specifically at his whiskers.
She had been wanting to touch them, ever since learning the affect it had on Naruto, but had held back, and simply enjoyed watching Tonks do it. But now, having seen Naruto getting double teamed by Susan and Tonks, Hermione couldn't hold herself back anymore, and wanted to do it herself.
It was just too cute to resist!
'Just this once, and I'll be quick, before he even notices.' Hermione thought, waiting for Naruto to be distracted, so she could have her chance.
Seeing he was talking with Neville; Hermione took her chance and quickly raised her hand to pet his whiskers. Unfortunately, in her haste, Hermione accidently scratched Naruto's whiskers, rather than pet them.
This resulted in Naruto suddenly freezing up, with his eyes wide open.
"Uh, Naruto, you alright?" Neville asked, upon seeing Naruto go completely still.
'Oh no, what did I do?' Hermione thought, worried she had accidently made a mistake.
Hermione then let an "Eep!", when Naruto suddenly latched onto her.
"Na-Naruto! What're you doing?!" Hermione said, blushing in embarrassment, even more so when the other students and the teachers began taking notice of what was going on.
"Ms. Granger, Mr. Uzumaki! While I understand you two are friends, I must ask you not give such displays around others. Please separate yourselves, now." McGonagall said, sternly only to frown when she saw that Hermione was trying to get Naruto off her, but he wouldn't budge.
"I'm tr-trying Professor, but he won't. Let. Go." Hermione said, trying to get Naruto to let go, but his grip was stronger than a vice.
"Mr. Uzumaki, I must ask you release Ms. Granger this insta…by Merlin's Beard!" McGonagall said, when she tried pulling Naruto off Hermione, only to stumble back, when he suddenly latched onto her.
At this moment, all of the students were now looking at the scene in confusion or amusement, while other teachers began going over to see what was happening.
"Mr. Uzumaki, let go this instant, or you'll have detention for the rest of the year!" McGonagall ordered, trying to get Naruto off her, but found his grip was stronger than it looked.
"I don't believe the boy is entirely aware of what he's doing Minerva." Said Professor Flitwick, looking at Naruto's expression and gave a test pull, only to squeak in surprise, when Naruto latched onto him next.
"Ms. Granger, what exactly caused Mr. Uzumaki to behave like this?" Questioned Dumbledore, with Hermione blushing in embarrassment, knowing she caused this.
"I uh, I accidently scratched his whiskers." Hermione answered, which only made them more confused.
"And why exactly, were you touching Mr. Uzumaki's markings?" Dumbledore asked.
"Because he purrs, whenever you pet them." Answered Tonks, walking up, with a grin on her face at this new information.
This made the entire hall fall silent, with nearly everyone's eyes were wide open hearing this, with a majority of the girls now looking at Naruto with a gleam in their eyes.
"He…purrs?" McGonagall asked, looking at Naruto, who was now latched onto Snape, after the Potion's Professor tried getting him off Flitwick.
"Release me now, Uzumaki!" Snape said, trying to force Naruto off him.
"Hey, do that with someone else you…I don't even know what!" Said Malfoy, going over to try and pry Naruto off Snape, only to yelp when he became the next victim.
"I didn't mean me, let go! Crabbe, Goyle, get him off me!" Malfoy said, failing in trying to get Naruto off of him, while Crabbe and Goyle traded looks, unsure if it'd be worth it to try and get Naruto off, only to be grabbed, as well.
"Pe-Per-Perhaps, a-a m-m-more pa-patient me-method. M-Mr. U-U-Uzumaki, wo-would y-y-you pl-please re-re-release-AH!" Quirrell said, trying to bring Naruto out of whatever state he was in, while shaking his shoulder, only to scream when Naruto latched onto him next.
'Quirrell, you bumbling imbecile!' Thought Voldemort, beneath Quirrell's turban, scowling at how his vessel was being hugged by a Muggleborn, that won't let go.
Even worse, Voldemort couldn't do anything to the boy for this humiliation, unless he wanted to blow his cover.
After a few more attempts to get Naruto to wake up, leading to more failures and people being glomped, it ended with Hermione looking down, as Naruto was now back to holding her again.
"Well, I believe that the best thing to do is to simply wait for Mr. Uzumaki to awaken of his own freewill." Dumbledore said, as he and everyone else stood a few feet away, to avoid Naruto grabbing them next.
McGonagall then levitated Hermione and Naruto out of the Great Hall. All while it became an unspoken rule to never scratch his whiskers marks, EVER!
McGonagall took the two students back to the Gryffindor Common Room, and placed them on a couch.
"Ms. Granger, do not leave the Common Room, until Mr. Uzumaki comes out of his…bliss mode." McGonagall said, before quickly leaving the tower, while Hermione nodded.
'Stupid, stupid, stupid!' Hermione thought with a blush on her face, completely embarrassed at what her actions caused.
She just wanted to pet his whiskers, not have him latching onto everyone! Including her!
Looking at the blissed out Naruto, Hermione lowered her head in embarrassment, hoping he'll come out of it soon.
Unfortunately, it took about another twenty, maybe thirty, minutes, until Naruto finally came out of it.
"Wh-what, huh?" Naruto said, opening his eyes, confused when he saw he was in the Gryffindor Common Room, when the last thing he remembered, was being in the Great Hall, during dinner.
Though he immediately blushed, when he saw that he was somehow cuddling with Hermione, making him quickly jump back.
"Her-Hermione?! What happened, how did we get here, why were we…" Naruto trailed off, blushing at the position they were in.
Hermione's blush only intensified, realizing Naruto didn't remember what happened, while he was in his bliss mode.
"O-oh, well you got scared when another ghost popped up right in front of you, from under the table, and fainted again. I volunteered to bring you back to the Common Room, until you woke up." Hermione lied, not wanting to embarrass Naruto anymore, than she already did.
"Oh, well uh, thanks for that." Said Naruto, while he was still blushing.
With that, the two exited the Common Room to return to the Great Hall, and finish dinner. All while being unable to look at each other, besides a few quick glances.
So, what did you think, good. Yep Naruto and Hermione spent some time getting to know each other, before Naruto was recruited by Fred and George to their beginning of the year prank, along with a prank war now being declared. Then we see them meeting Nearly Headless Nick and Naruto fainting when seeing just why he was called that, thankfully he didn't miss any of his classes. We then go onto Potions where we see a nicer, but still stern, Snape who doesn't pay favorites or antagonize the other students. It's then off to Transfiguration and DADA with Naruto and Hermione also reading more of their books and learning a few more spells from them, before going their separate ways with Naruto meeting Susan Bones again, along with being held captive by Tonks as well for more petting. Finally we see Hermione finally decided to try and pet Naruto's whiskers as well only to accidently scratch them instead, sending Naruto into his bliss mode (This comes from the story "What A Dramatic Life" great story go read it if you haven't) with there now being an unspoken rule to never scratch Naruto's whiskers. Now then onto another Omake!
Omake: Innocence Preserved
"Please Tokiomi, please let me call Kariya and find out what Zouken is like, before we give Sakura to him." Aoi Tohsaka pleaded with her husband, Tokiomi Tohsaka, who frowned in thought at her words.
They were currently discussing what to do with their second born daughter Sakura Tohsaka, whom they were putting up for adoption. Given Tokiomi already had an heir to the Tohsaka family in the form of his first born daughter, Rin, he felt raising an additional child would only introduce unneeded competition. So instead, they would be giving Sakura to another Magus Family to raise.
With one stepping forward, Zouken Matou, head of the Matou Family and an ancient ally of the Tohsaka Family, who needed an heir after both his son and grandson prove incompetent in Magecraft. Tokiomi was going to agree, but then his wife reminded him of what happened to the Potter boy years ago.
While Tokiomi didn't show it, but he did love both his daughters, and wanted Sakura to be given to a family that would love and nurture her. With his wife wanting to call her childhood friend, Kariya Matou, Zouken's second son, to learn the truth of what his family was like, before they gave Sakura to them. Not wanting her daughter to be abused or hurt by the Matou family.
"Very well, speak with Kariya, and find out what his family is like." Tokiomi said, with Aoi smiling in relief, before proceeding to call Kariya.
It didn't take long before the exiled Matou answered, and after hearing the reason for Aoi contacting them, he was more than happy to tell them just what his family was like, if it meant stopping them from sending Sakura to his twisted father and brother.
And after hearing what the Matou family was like, Aoi was horrified, while Tokiomi's eyes widened to hear just how…twisted Zouken was, and those horrendous Crest Worms he created.
"We, we can't give Sakura to that…creature!" Aoi said, after hanging up, refusing to even consider letting her daughter be taken in by the Matous.
"Well what other family could take her in?!" Tokiomi said, knowing their options were limited on the Magus Families willing to take Sakura.
"Th-the Edelfelt Family, they can take her! Especially since their crest can allow them to have two heirs!" Said Aoi, with Tokiomi frowning at the mention of the rival family of the Tohsakas.
Though thinking about it, that might be the better choice, as outside of their rivalry, the Edelfelts were a good family and treated each other well. If they took Sakura in, then at least they'd know she'd grow up happy and safe.
After a few moments, Tokiomi nodded.
*Timeskip-Two Days*
"We made a good choice." Aoi said, smiling in relief, as she and Tokiomi watched from a distance as Sakura was spending time with the Edelfelt Family, meeting their own daughter, and her new sister, Luvia, who smiled at Sakura, before grabbing the girl's hand, before they ran off together.
"Yes, we did." Replied Tokiomi, glad to know Sakura will be accepted and cared for.
Though he also knew that Zouken had been expecting Sakura to be given to him as well, and he can expect the elderly Magus to retaliate for not getting the heir he wanted.
'And any retaliation will be met back a thousand fold, when the War begins.' Tokiomi thought, while looking at the mark on his right hand, that formed a circle with an opening at the bottom and a smaller circle within, made of two half circles, with a line going through the bottom.
After all, what Servant could Zouken summon that could stand against Tokiomi's chosen one, the Hero who rules over all others.
*With Zouken*
'Tokiomi, you'll regret not giving me the girl, when you had the chance.' Zouken thought, scowling in anger at Tokiomi giving his second born daughter to the Edelfelt Family, rather than to him.
Zouken will make sure that Tokiomi learns what happens, when someone crosses the Matou family, when he forces him to watch as his wife and both of his daughters are devoured by the Crest Worms.
'And then having Berserker crush his skull.' Thought Zouken, while chuckling sinisterly.
Just a few years, and then he'll crush all Masters and Servants before him.
Yep, Sakura has been spared having with the Matou Family and instead has been given to the Edelfelt Family, having a much better adopted sibling in Luvia. Along with Tokiomi preparing for any retaliation from Zouken, especially when he'll soon have the King of Heroes in his corner, with the Dead Apostle wannabe is planning to show what happens when he's crossed. So, review if you liked go away if you didn't.
Storm out
Hello all Storm here with a new chapter! Here we'll be seeing more of Naruto and Hermione's time at Hogwarts along with some more changes to canon. So, without further ado.
I own nothing
Revised: 7/11/20
September 2nd
Entry 3:
The first day of classes, was pretty good. Hermione and I got to know more about each other, along with the twins, Fred and George Weasley, letting me join in helping them, with their beginning of the year prank. Along with pranking them, as well, while declaring a prank war, between us.
I look forward to having them beg for mercy, once I'm done. NOBODY CHALLENGES THE KING!
Though when Hermione and I went to breakfast, we encountered the Gryffindor House Ghost, Sir Nicholas, also known as Nearly Headless Nick. And I try to forget the reason why he got that nickname, since a ghost is bad enough, but one with their head just barely attached, is even worse.
Thankfully, I didn't miss any of the classes, with the first one being Potions, with Professor Snape. He seems like an alright teacher, pretty stern, and not willing to accept anyone messing up, or goofing around, in class. Understandable, since from everything I've read, a single mistake with a potion could have it blow up in your face, with some very devastating side-effects.
The next class was History of Magic, with a ghost for a teacher. What made it worse, was all he talked about was Goblin Rebellions, in a dull, droning voice. Hermione thinks it'll get better, once we get pass them; I have my doubts.
We had Transfiguration and Defense Against the Dark Arts, or DADA, next. With both classes being much better, with us even learning some spells, as well. The only real problem, was Professor Quirrell's stuttering, along with everything smelling like garlic and something dead.
After the classes were done, Hermione and I read over more of the books we got on Magecraft, specifically the ones about "Elements" and "Origins". Along with learning a few more spells.
Then I ran into Susan Bones, from the train, while exploring the castle, so I wouldn't get lost. Unfortunately, I then was grabbed by Tonks, as well, and I even lost my blackmail of using her first name, after she threatened to tell all the girls in school, what would happen, if they touch my whiskers. And I didn't get any help from Susan, who petted them, as well.
When dinner started though, everything became kind of blurry, and I couldn't remember anything that happened. Only that, when I woke up, I was in the Common Room with Hermione, and she said I fainted again, when a ghost appeared in front of me.
But that didn't really explain the looks I was getting, when we went back to dinner. Maybe, because everyone was there, rather than just a few, like during breakfast. It's still strange, though.
Naruto frowned, as he and Hermione walked through the corridors, taking notice of the many looks he was getting. The girls kept looking at him, with a glint in their eyes, which unnerved Naruto of what it could mean, while the boys looked either amused, or wary, as if expecting something to happen.
He noticed that he's been getting these looks, ever since he and Hermione went back to the dinner, last night, after he fainted again, from a ghost popping up in front of him. Or at least, that's what Hermione told him what happened.
Though, that wouldn't explain why everyone kept looking at him, like that.
"Hey Hermione, do you know why everyone keeeeee…" Naruto trailed off, when to his surprise and fear, he felt a pair of hands on his cheeks.
"Oh Merlin, he actually does purr!" Parvati said, pleasantly surprised, while Lavender Brown smiled in excitement.
"That is so adorable!" Said Lavender, amazed that Naruto really does purr, when his whiskers are petted.
'Oh no.' Hermione thought, looking around, and saw that the rest of the girls were slowly inching towards Naruto, wanting to try, for themselves.
"Alright, yes, you saw that he can purr, now we need to go. We don't want to be late for class." Hermione said, quickly before grabbing Naruto, and pulling him away from Lavender and Parvati, along with the other girls, that were about to try petting him.
Meanwhile, Naruto was freaking out at how everyone found out his secret, the only ones who should know are Hermione, Susan, and…Tonks!
Naruto looked around, before finding Tonks smirking at him, with the older witch even waving at him, adding insult to injury.
Glaring at the pinkette for letting his secret out, Naruto soon smirked at her, knowing if he goes down, he's taking her with him.
"It's nice to see again, Nymphadora Tonks!" Naruto said, smirking and waving at Tonks, while saying her name loud enough for everyone to hear, and know who he was talking to.
This made Tonks immediately lose her smug expression, turning to one of shock, as she saw that the students were now looking at her, instead of Naruto.
"You said, you wouldn't say that name!" Tonks hissed, angry that her first name would now likely be known to the entire castle.
"And you said that you wouldn't say anything about my whiskers, consider this fair play. See ya around, Nymphadora!" Naruto said, cheekily, while Tonks's hair turned crimson red.
"You do realize, she's likely going to get you back for that, right?" Hermione asked.
"Worth it." Naruto replied, before they headed off for class.
*Later*
After finishing up their classes for the day, along with practicing the spells they knew, Naruto and Hermione went to the library, to find some more books on Magecraft. Though they also managed to find some other interesting books as well, on subjects that were no longer taught at Hogwarts. Such as Alchemy and Sword Magic, being among them.
"I really wish Hogwarts still taught this." Naruto commented, as the two First Years sat at a table, looking over the books, they had gathered.
Given how Alchemy is used to change matter into a different form, such as turning any metal into gold, it'd be a useful skill to learn. Especially, if one could master it to the point of using it in fights.
While it'd be cool to have a magic sword, along with another method of fighting, in case a witch or wizard lose their wand. They'd have a weapon to fall back on, rather than being left defenseless.
"Given the modern achievements, Alchemy's become an outdated subject, given nearly everything that can be done with Alchemy, can be done with spells now, that take less time to master and learn. Even turning metals into gold, or at the least a very convincing imitation, is possible, if you're skilled enough. And Sword Magic isn't exactly practical anymore, since it's now illegal to carry a sword around, in the Muggle World." Hermione replied.
Though she agreed that it'd be cool, to still have these subjects available as classes. Even if both subjects were rendered obsolete, with the advancements, and new spells, that were made.
"Well, remember when Dumbledore first took us to Diagon Alley, with how Magical Britain is trying to separate itself, from the Muggle World. They might bring Sword Magic back." Said Naruto.
"Perhaps." Hermione said, agreeing that it was a possibility, but doubted it'd be any time soon.
Once the two had finished going over the books for Sword Magic and Alchemy, they moved onto the ones they got about Magecraft.
Though Naruto frowned, when he got to a part of the book that confused him.
"Servant Summoning?" Naruto muttered, confused as to what that meant.
"What'd you say, Naruto?" Asked Hermione, looking up from her own book.
"Something in this book, about a ritual used to summon a servant, or a Spirit, I guess." Said Naruto, showing it to Hermione, who saw it wasn't much, just a brief mention of these Servants, or Spirits, being summoned for something, along with the ritual that summons them.
"Hm, it doesn't say much, about what's needed to summon them, just that it requires an artifact of some sort, that's connected to the Spirit." Hermione said, intrigued by what kind of Spirit would be summoned, and what artifact would be needed.
Naruto was also interested in the idea of summoning a Servant, since the book mentioned they're used in a battle, or something like that. Meaning, they'd have to be pretty powerful, which would be good to have as an ally, that could attack, while an enemy is distracted.
Seeing there wasn't more information about Servants, or how to summon them, the two decided to hold off on researching them, and continued reading.
As they read, they learned that while Alchemy has fallen out of favor with Magic users, it was still being practiced by Magecraft users. Who have still made some advancement in the art, since Hogwarts had dropped the subject.
One such mentioning, was of the Einzbern Family, who specialized in Alchemy to such the extent, that the family now consists only of Homunculi.
Finally, it came time for them to head back to the Gryffindor Common Room. But, before they left, they wrote down some of the Magecraft that interested them. Including one known as Gandr, which seemed like a simple enough spell to start with.
Though Naruto also was interested in two Magecraft subjects, known as Gradation Air and Reality Marble. Liking the idea of materializing objects from his imagination, and projecting his "inner world", whatever that meant.
With that the two First Years exiting the library, and went towards the Grand Staircase, to return to Gryffindor Tower.
Unfortunately, halfway up the stairs, Naruto and Hermione were forced to hold on, when the stairs suddenly moved to a different position, preventing them from going up.
"Great, now we have to wait for the stairs to realign." Naruto said, annoyed that the stairs were moving now.
He wondered, what even was the purpose of creating moving staircases, rather than just make more stairs. It seemed pretty dangerous, especially with how high up, they go.
"No, we don't, we can cut through here, and get to the Charms corridor, then take a different set of stairs, that'll take us up to the tower." Said Hermione, while motioning to the third-floor corridor.
Nodding at her words, Naruto and Hermione entered the corridor, to get to the Charms corridor, and back onto the stairs.
However, as they walked through the corridor, both Gryffindors couldn't help, but be curious, and a little spooked, at how…empty it was. Given how they'd usually see, at least some other students, or talking portraits. But now, they didn't see anything, except a few suits of armor, which only made the corridor creepier, than it already was.
"Come on, let's hurry, and get out of here." Naruto said, with Hermione nodding in agreement, as they went over to a door, that'd hopefully take them out of here
Grabbing the handle, Naruto tried opening the door, only to frown, when it wouldn't budge.
"The door's locked." Naruto said, confused as to why the door would be locked, especially in an empty corridor.
"Here, let me." Said Hermione, pulling out her wand, and pointing it at the door.
"Alohomora."
Hearing the door unlock itself, Naruto nodded, and pushed it open.
"Okay, let's get back to that-" Naruto said, only to stop, as his and Hermione's eyes widened, when they saw that the door didn't lead to a different corridor, only a room.
A room, with a massive three-headed dog!
"Well…wasn't expecting that." Stated Naruto, just as the dog roared at the two children, causing them to scream, and lunged at them.
Immediately, Naruto slammed the door shut, with him and Hermione turning around, and ran out the way, they came.
Once they were out of the third-floor corridor, the two Gryffindors breathed heavily, to calm their rapidly beating hearts. While internally freaking out at finding a Cerberus, of all things, in the castle!
"Why the hell would a Cerberus be kept here?!" Naruto exclaimed, while freaking out over nearly being eaten.
"I'm not sure, but did you see what it was standing on?" Hermione asked, also freaking out, but also intrigued by what else she saw in the room.
"You mean the trapdoor? Yeah, I saw it, just before that thing tried eating us." Replied Naruto, having briefly caught a glimpse of the trapdoor.
"That means that dog is there, for a reason, probably to act as a guard, for something being kept down there." Hermione said, curious of what could be kept under the trapdoor, that it would need a Cerberus to guard it.
"Whatever it is, it's probably none of our business. It's probably supposed to be a secret, for only the teachers and Headmaster to know." Said Naruto.
While he was also wondering what the Cerberus was guarding, he wasn't feeling too keen on going back there. Especially after he was nearly eaten.
Hermione nodded in agreement, if it wasn't mentioned during the Beginning-of-the-Year Feast and Sorting, in order to ward off any students from going there. Then it's likely something, that only the Headmaster and teachers to know about.
Thankfully, they saw the stairs were once more, realigned. Allowing them to go up the tower, while putting the Cerberus, and whatever it was guarding, out of their minds.
*Timeskip-Two Weeks*
Two weeks have passed, since Naruto and Hermione accidently found the Cerberus on the third-floor corridor. But as they agreed, it was none of their business, as to why it was there, and simply continued on, with their classes and studies.
Since then, Naruto and Hermione have quickly made it to the top of all their classes, with Naruto being able to master most spells, rather quickly, while Hermione was able to answer every single question, flawlessly. It earned them some praise from their teachers and Housemates, mostly for the Points they were winning, for Gryffindor.
Though Hermione also developed a rivalry with Daphne Greengrass, who also became one of the top students, in Slytherin. With the Ice Queen seeming to take some amusement in showing Hermione up, which only made Hermione try even harder, to show up Daphne.
Currently, it was time for the first Flying Lesson for Gryffindor and Slytherin, with Naruto noticing that Hermione seemed particularly nervous. Since flying wasn't something you could learn from a book, and Naruto would know, with how she kept listing off all the different facts about flying, from all the books she's read, to prepare for the lesson.
But reading how to fly a broom, was very different from actually flying on one.
It also didn't help, that Daphne was smirking at her the entire time, while not looking the least bit nervous. Which only made Hermione all the more determined to succeed, in riding a broom.
"Well, what are you all waiting for? Everyone, stand by a broomstick. Come on, hurry up." Said the teacher, Madam Hooch, while looking at them all, with her yellow hawk-like eyes.
"UP!"
Naruto was surprised, when his broom leapt into his hand, on the first try. Looking, he saw that Hermione's had only rolled a little, while Daphne's had also leapt into her hand, on the first try. He also saw that Neville's jumped up, halfway, before falling down, but he caught it, the second time around.
Once everyone had their broom in their hand, Hooch began going around, and showing them how to hold them.
"Now, when I blow my whistle, you kick off from the ground, hard." Hooch said, after everyone was ready.
"Keep your brooms steady, rise a few feet, and then come straight back down, by leaning forward, slightly. On my whistle, three, two, one…" Said Hooch, before giving another quick glance at the students, before blowing her whistle.
Everyone immediately kicked off the ground, some going faster than others, as they all floated a few feet, into the air.
"Alright, very good! Now fly around, but don't go too far, and stick close to the ground!" Hooch said, after a few moments, while seeing if any of them were having trouble.
Naruto looked around, and saw most the students were happily flying through the air. With a few of the braver ones even trying to do tricks on their brooms, only for Hooch to scold them. Looking, Naruto was worried, when he saw Hermione shaking on her broom, and not moving.
"Uh, Hermione, you sure you're alright?" Naruto asked, while flying over to her.
"Fine, perfectly fine." Replied Hermione, while refusing to look down, not wanting to become disoriented, at how high she was.
"You can always go back to the ground, Granger. You can stick to your books, and leave flying to the real witches." Daphne said, after flying in front of them, with a smirk on her face.
This made Hermione scowl at her, before taking a breath, as she started flying around, on her broom. With Hermione smirking at Daphne, once she got the hang of it.
"Why don't take your own advice, Greengrass. Go back to the ground, and leave flying to the real witches." Hermione taunted, before flying off, while Daphne growled lowly, before flying away, as well.
Seeing this, Naruto couldn't help, but sigh, and hoped that Hermione didn't end up going overboard.
A few moments passed, with the flying lesson continuing, without any problems. That is, until Neville started having problems, with his broom jerking around, randomly.
"You alright, Longbottom?" Madam Hooch asked.
"Ye-yeah, I'm fine, my broom's just-AH!" Neville screamed, when his broom gave a sharp jerk, throwing him off, sending the boy plummeting to the ground.
The sight of Neville falling to the ground, made the Gryffindors, and the nicer Slytherins, inhale sharply, while Hooch shot off to grab him. Thankfully, before Neville could hit the ground, he suddenly froze in midair.
"Mr. Longbottom, are you alright?!" Asked McGonagall, pointing her wand at Neville, having arrived just in time to see Neville fall from his broom, and quickly cast a Levitation Charm, before he could hit the ground.
Lowering the boy onto the ground, Neville stood up on shaky legs, having just escaped some serious injuries, and possibly death, as well.
"Y-yeah, just a little freaked out. Thank you, Professor." Neville replied, relieved that McGonagall was there to save him.
"Of course. Why don't we take you to Madam Pomfrey, for a Calming Drought, and make sure you're alright." Said McGonagall, with Neville nodding, and left with the Professor.
Seeing he was alright, Naruto and Hermione sighed in relief, along with the other Gryffindors, and a few of the Slytherins.
Though looking around, Naruto narrowed his eyes, when he caught sight of Quirrell watching from beside a pillar, before walking away.
'Why didn't Quirrell help Neville, if he was there the entire time?' Naruto wondered, confused and suspicious, as to why the DADA teacher didn't try and save Neville, as if just intending to watch him fall.
Meanwhile, as Quirrell left the scene, Voldemort scowled in annoyance that they failed to kill the Longbottom boy, with the perfect chance of making it look like an accident.
With Harry Potter now dead, killed by his Muggle relatives of all things, it meant that Longbottom is the one, who will destroy him. Something that won't happen, if the Dark Lord has anything to say about it.
"Forgive me, My Lord, I didn't mean to fail you, again." Quirrell said, quietly, fearful of being punished for now failing to kill Neville, along with his previous failure to steal the Philosopher's Stone.
"You incompetent fool! If you had been more careful, McGonagall wouldn't have taken notice, and the boy would be dead, right now!" Hissed Voldemort, his anger only growing at the fact, that he can't properly punish Quirrell for his blunder, as he needed him, until he could regain his own body.
And when that time comes, and Quirrell is still breathing, then Voldemort will show him what happens to those, that continuously fail him.
*Later-With Naruto and Hermione*
After the flying lesson, Naruto and Hermione went off, to their next class.
But on their way, they saw an older Gryffindor, whom they recognized as Oliver Wood, the Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team.
"Hello Oliver. Is something wrong?" Hermione asked, when she saw the look of frustration on the Fifth Year's face.
"Oh, hey Naruto, Hermione. Sorry, I was just thinking." Said Oliver, having been deep in thought, and didn't notice the two First Years.
"About what?" Asked Naruto.
"The Quidditch team. I've got a good team, with the Chasers and Beaters, and me as the Keeper, but I can't find anyone suitable to for Seeker position. I think we might have to accept losing against Slytherin, in the next match." Oliver said in resignation, knowing without a good enough Seeker, they'll lose to Slytherin.
Especially since they use underhanded methods, that while frowned on, aren't illegal moves.
"Well, why do you play fair against Slytherin?" Naruto asked, having heard the rumors of how Slytherin's team plays dirty.
"What? You mean play dirty?" Oliver questioned, frowning at that, since he didn't liking the idea of winning a game, by playing unfairly.
"I mean, if Slytherin plays dirty, then why not give them a taste of their own medicine. I'm not saying use dirty tactics against the other Houses, but if Slytherin uses them, then show them you can, too." Naruto said, knowing that while honor was a trait of Gryffindor, they shouldn't be afraid at fighting fire with fire.
This made Oliver stop, and think about it for a moment.
"I'll have to talk with the rest of the team about this, but if it's just against Slytherin, they might be on board. You should think about trying out for the team, next year, we could use a thinker, like you." Oliver said to Naruto, knowing it'd be good having someone who can think outside the box, like that, someone who's unpredictable.
The three then exchanged goodbyes, before continuing to their next classes.
"Are you going to take the offer? Applying for the Quidditch Team, once we're in our Second Year?" Hermione asked, looking at the blonde, wondering if he'd really try for the team.
"Maybe, I really liked the flying lesson, and being up in the air. So trying for the team, and joining them, might be fun." Replied Naruto, as they walked towards their next class.
So, what did you think, good. Yep Naruto has learned Tonks let the cat (or fox) out of the bag in regards to his whisker and in turn revealed her true name in retaliation. It's then off to classes with Naruto and Hermione getting their first hint at the Grail War and Servants. Then we have the Flying Lesson with Hermione and Daphne butting heads, while Neville is nearly killed by Quirrell only to get trigger happy and fail. Finally we also see Naruto and Hermione also discover Fluffy, but have no intention of finding out what he's guarding. Now here's another Omake with a certain defective priest.
Omake: Defective Love
"Hello Rin." Caren greeted, with Rin looking at her with annoyed expression.
"Oh, it's you." Stated Rin, before looking away, with her arms crossed.
"How rude...is that your way of greeting people? To think Tokiomi-kun raised such a disrespectful daughter..." Said Caren, while tilting her head.
"Nobody asked you, and you are one to talk! Referring to my father like that!" Rin retorted, giving Caren a glare, only for the white-haired girl to remain unfazed.
"Grandfather refers to him like that, why can't I?" Asked Caren curiously, making Rin growl as her annoyance grew.
"T-That's different." Said Rin, with Caren blinking, while tilting her head.
"How?" Caren questioned.
"B-Because he is my father, he is older than you, and you have to show him proper respect, you shouldn't refer to him so casually, by his first name." Rin said smirking, believing she won the conversation.
"Big words from the girl, who can't greet her friend with respect." Caren stated, making Rin's eyes snap open, as she glared at her.
"We are not friends, you brat!" Rin shouted.
"If that is the way you treat your friends then you are right, I don't want to be your friend." Said Caren, turning away, with her head held up in dismissal.
"ARRGGG!" Rin screamed in anger.
"But don't worry, even if we're not friends anymore, I'll keep praying for you, like any decent Samaritan would do." Caren added, while actually starting to praying, which only served to enrage the twin haired girl, even more.
"I don't think your daughter likes me, very much. Or Caren, for that matter." Kirei Kotomine commented to his mentor Tokiomi, as they observed their daughters Rin Tohsaka and Caren Kotomine play together.
Or more accurately, Caren actively provoking Rin, with the Tohsaka girl getting more and more annoyed with each barb.
"Don't worry about Rin, she doesn't like anyone she's not familiar with. Give time, and I'm sure she'll warm up to you." Replied Tokiomi, with Kirei glancing at him for a moment, before looking back at the girls.
"Right…" Kirei stated, doubting that, especially with his nature.
A nature that his daughter seems to have inherited, but not to the same extent, and could still feel emotions more genuinely than he can.
"Though I am surprised you decided to bring Caren to Japan. Especially so soon, after your wife's death." Said Tokiomi.
"I was originally going to leave her with her relatives, doubting I could raise her properly." Kirei replied.
"What made you change your mine?" Tokiomi asked, curious of why Kirei decided to bring Caren with him, instead of leaving her.
Hearing this, Kirei's mind drifted to why he decided to keep Caren with him, rather than leave her with her mother's relatives.
*Flashback*
Kirei sat in his room, staring blankly at the wall in front of him.
Not even a day has passed since Claudia's death, when she killed herself in an effort to make feel sadness for her death. He did indeed feel sadness, but only because he lost the chance to kill her himself, and enjoy her death.
After that, he had given up on finding salivation, of God fixing him. Kirei had intended to send their daughter, Caren, to live with Claudia's relatives, and then kill himself.
But then, he remembered something, of what happened to the boy, Harry Potter, and how he was killed by his own relatives.
When he first learned about it, Kirei was disgusted with himself, for the sick joy he felt, while thinking of the pain and torment Harry suffered from, along with the sentence his aunt and uncle were given. Especially when it was learned that the Dursleys' son, Dudley, was killed not long after arriving at the foster home. Where he tried to establish his dominance there, and at school, only to become the target of intense bullying.
He then imagined the same thing happening to Caren, only to be surprised, when he felt a parental fury fill him, along with a desire to mutilate and kill anyone that touched his daughter, in such a way. This also relieved Kirei, that he could at least care about his child.
Getting up, Kirei exited his room, and went his daughter's, looking through the cracked door, and saw her sleeping.
'Perhaps, this was the salvation I prayed for?' Kirei thought, closing the door quietly.
Even if he was an evil person, one who took joy in the pain and suffering of others, he could at least take solace in knowing he didn't wish that same pain to be inflicted on Caren.
*End Flashback*
A few days later, Kirei had noticed the Command Seals appearing on his right hand, showing he had been chosen as a Master in the coming War. Leading to him meeting with Tokiomi and his father to arrange their alliance in the upcoming Fourth Holy Grail War. Before he and Caren went to Japan, where he would be under the tutelage of Tokiomi Tohsaka.
"I simply remembered the last time a child was left with their relatives, and didn't wish that on Caren." Kirei replied, with Tokiomi nodding in understanding, knowing about the child he meant.
'Strange, how so many things can change with just a single death.' Tokiomi thought.
While he didn't condone or justify what happened to the Potter boy, he couldn't deny that the changes that he is seeing as a result, were interesting.
Giving Sakura to the Edelfelts rather than the Matous, Kirei bringing his daughter with him, rather than leaving her with her relatives.
Tokiomi wondered what other changes could have occurred as a result.
Yep, Kirei has his own reaction to Harry's death which leads to him taking Caren with him to Japan rather than leaving her with her relatives, with Caren antagonizing Rin and the Tohsaka girls building frustration. Also no worries Kirei will still be his usual self, but now knows he at least desires to keep Caren safe. So, review if you liked go away if you didn't.
Storm out
Hello all Storm here with a new chapter! Here we'll be going right to Halloween, with Naruto and Hermione learning the significance of the holiday for the Magical World. So, without further ado.
I own nothing
October 31st
Entry 4:
The first couple weeks at Hogwarts, have been pretty good, I've learned a lot about magic, along with learning more about Magecraft and less known types of magic, like Sword Magic and Alchemy. Hermione and I also learned about something called "Servant Summoning", we're not sure what it is exactly, only that it requires some kind of artifact for the summoning.
Though while I've been learning more, now I have to constantly look over my shoulder, because now, the entire castle knows what happens, when someone touches my whickers, all thanks to Tonks. But I made sure to drag her down with me, now everyone knows her name is Nymphadora!
It was worth it, no matter what she does next.
There was also an incident, where Hermione and I were almost eaten, after accidently stumbling on a giant Cerberus on the Third Floor Corridor. It also seemed to be guarding something, as it was standing on a trap door, but we figured it wasn't any of our business, and was only for the teachers to know, so we simply put it out of our minds, and continued on.
Afterwards, things continued on as usual, but we also managed to get up to the top of our classes, as I actually showed to be pretty good at learning spells. While Hermione was able to remember everything and answer any questions. Though this also led to her developing a rivalry with Daphne Greengrass, the girl we met at Diagon Alley, and a Slytherin, who is also at the top of her classes.
We've also had our first Flying Lesson, which went rather smoothly, until Neville fell off his broom, and would have hit the ground, if Professor McGonagall hadn't saved him. Before taking him to the Hospital Wing, to be looked over, just in case, and to calm down. But while they were leaving, I noticed Quirrell standing behind a pillar, like he was hiding, and didn't see him try to save Neville.
It was strange, and suspicious, that Quirrell was just standing aside, and would have watched a student be injured, possibly die, from how high up we were. I also noticed that he didn't seem as jittery, as he is in class, looking calm and collected. Which only seems more suspicious, if Quirrell is putting on an act, of being scared of his own shadow.
I don't know what, but I feel like something else is going on, with Quirrell's strange behavior, and possible act, along with whatever that dog is guarding. I'll stay out of it, for now, so I can wait and see what else happens.
Naruto and Hermione couldn't deny their confusion, as they walked through the castle on Halloween day. Both feeling a depressing aura suddenly appear, both Gryffindors immediately noticing it, when they went down for breakfast, and saw that the Great Hall was unusually quiet, even the teachers at the Head Table weren't saying anything. With Hagrid even looking ready to burst into tears.
Confused by the solemn behavior, Naruto and Hermione went up to Hagrid, when breakfast ended, to see if they could find out, what was going on.
"Hello Hagrid." Hermione greeted, stopping the large Gatekeeper, as Hagrid looked at them with tear-filled eyes.
"Oh, Hermione and…Naruto, right? What can do fer you two?" Hagrid said, while wiping his eyes,
"Yeah, that's right. And we wanted to ask you what was wrong? Everyone just seemed…unusually quiet, this morning." Said Naruto, with Hagrid looking at them in confusion, before remembering they were Muggleborns.
"Ah, right, yer both Muggleborn, aren't ya. I suppose you wouldn't know." Said Hagrid, which only made them even more confused.
"Know what?" Hermione asked, as Hagrid took a shaky breath.
"It a…it happened ten years ago, today, when You-Know-Who w-went an-and killed the P-Potters, leaving their son, H-Harry, an orphan. B-but that isn't th-the worse that happened…" Hagrid said, as he began telling the two Gryffindors of the Halloween Night ten years ago, of what happened to Voldemort and the Potters, along with what happened to Harry Potter, at the hands of his relatives.
It shocked, horrified, and disgusted Naruto and Hermione, to hear what happened. For a one-year-old to lose his parents, and nearly be killed, only to end up an orphan and left with his abusive relatives, where he ended being killed by them. The two now realizing why Magical Britain was starting to separate itself more from the Muggle World, given what happened to the Boy-Who-Lived.
Along with seeing why they had more respect for Muggleborns, due to Lily Potter's actions, and her part in helping defeat Voldemort, and willingly giving her life, so her son could live. Only for that sacrifice to be in vain, when he was killed by her own sister and her husband.
Naruto and Hermione couldn't help, but pity the woman, who gave her life, so that her son could be safe from any threats. Only for that same protection to be corrupted, leading to Harry being killed by his relatives.
"Do you want some company, Hagrid?" Hermione asked, seeing the Gatekeeper was really depressed and saddened, when talking about what happened, making them think he knew the Potters and was close to them, making their deaths even harder.
"No, no, it's alright, but thank ya, both of you. Besides, I wouldn't want ta be the reason you two missed any of yer classes." Said Hagrid, while wiping his eyes.
"You sure?" Said Naruto, with Hagrid nodding, while smiling at the two, glad to see such kind-hearted students.
"I'm sure. Now off with ya both, wouldn't want to get detention, now would ya." Hagrid said, with Naruto and Hermione nodding, before going to their classes, waving at Hagrid, as they did so.
As they walked to their first class, both Muggleborns couldn't help, but notice that the depressing mood around the castle was now around them, as well. Understandable, given they just learned an infant child was neglected and killed by his own relatives, after having lost his parents, when he was only a baby.
"So, what're you planning to do for today, besides going to the feast tonight?" Naruto asked, wanting to talk about something, anything, just to get their minds off of what they had learned.
"I was thinking of going to the library, to look up more information on Elements and Origins, along with learning a few more Magecraft Spells. What about you?" Hermione asked, eager to learn more about Magecraft, while curious of Naruto's own plans.
"I might do the same. Gandr was a pretty fun spell to learn, and I'm hoping to learn more." Said Naruto, with Hermione nodding in agreement.
Gandr was the first Magecraft Spell, the two learned since it seemed like a simple enough spell to learn. With it working by simply pointing their index finger at the intended target, as long as it was within their field of vision, and fire it a target to decrease their physical health. And the more Mana they put into a Gandr, the stronger it becomes, even capable of knocking someone unconscious, if it's powerful enough.
"Good, as long as you don't try pulling any tricks." Hermione said, giving Naruto a pointed look, with the Uzumaki merely grinning, knowing what she meant, the prank he helped the Weasley Twins pull at the beginning of the year, along with the prank war between them.
*Flashback*
Three days after the Weasley Twins asked for his help, in their Beginning-of-the-Year Prank, Naruto sat at the Gryffindor Table during breakfast, smirking. A smirk the twins shared, as they watched everyone eating breakfast, though none of three touching their own food, or drinks.
The ones who saw the Weasley Twins smirk were wary, knowing such looks usually were followed by widespread chaos. Though by the time the students began taking notice, it was too late.
Not a moment later, almost all of the students faces began turning bright red, as they began panting from their mouths starting to suddenly burn. This being due to the powdered Caroline Reaper peppers in everyone's food, courtesy of Naruto, after being told where the kitchen was. Thankfully, the peppers were diluted, so no worries of anyone being hurt, from how hot they were.
Though the peppers still burned, with everyone immediately grabbing their drinks and downing them, in an attempt to cool off their mouths. This, however, caused several different affects to happen to the students.
Some of them turning completely different colors, or even multiple colors, some to start singing or dancing uncontrollably, others to blow up like balloons and float to the ceiling, others to grow fur, feathers, or scales, and some became completely frozen statues, or began breathing actual fire, whenever they opened their mouths.
These were thanks to the various potions the Weasley Twins put in everyone's drinks, nothing harmful, and would ware off, in a few hours.
Naruto muffled his laughter, seeing the results of the prank, along with now seeing that he now has way more materials to use, in addition to what he already has.
Only for the blonde to frown, when he saw his skin and clothes were turning bright yellow with blue spots. Looking, Naruto saw the twins were now smirking at him, showing they were the ones responsible.
'Now it begins.' Naruto thought, knowing the prank war has started, and they had no idea what they've unleashed onto themselves.
*End Flashback*
After that, Naruto and the twins spent a few weeks going back and forth between their pranks. Naruto managing to get them several times, using Muggle methods of pranking, that they weren't familiar with. While Naruto was still learning about the Magical methods, making it interesting to see who would come out on top, but not so interesting for those that got caught in the crossfire.
Though it came to an end, when Naruto pulled his ultimate prank on the twins.
*Flashback*
Naruto smirked, as he sat with Hermione in the Gryffindor Common Room, while around them, the other Gryffindors looked in shock and disbelief.
The reason being, the Weasley Twins walking into the Common Room, their robes a bright neon pink, with the words "I'm with stupid" written on the back and arrows pointed at the other twin, their heads were completely shaven, each step they took showed something incredibly sticky on the bottom of their shoes, making it difficult to walk, and they were both cradling their crotches.
Soon they managed to make it across the room, and promptly fell to their knees, in front of the smirking Naruto.
"We surrender…" Fred said in a high-pitched tone.
"…For the love of Merlin…" Said George, in the same high-pitch voice.
"Show mercy." The twins begged, as Naruto chuckled wickedly, knowing they had encountered his entire prank.
It had started out the night before, when Naruto managed to slip a Sleeping Drought into their food and drinks, ensuring that they wouldn't wake up, no matter what. After that, he had snuck into their room, and went to work.
First having completely shaved their heads, before putting a mix of glue and taffy in their shoes, while coating the bottom of them with molasses, making it so they couldn't take them off, and have them stick to the ground. Along with covering the entire floor in marbles and mousetraps, before finally leaving.
Though that wasn't the end, as Naruto had made sure to memorize their schedules, and knew today, they had Quidditch Practice. And while the team was out practicing, Naruto snuck into the locker room, switching out their usual robes for the pink ones, along with leaving one final surprise in their lockers. With it being a pair of crossbows, loaded with arrows, that had boxing gloves at the end, set to be released, when the lockers were opened, hitting the twins right in their crotches.
All of this combined, was enough for the Weasley Twins to surrender, and know when they were outmatched.
"They always surrender in the end. Just be glad that I didn't use my corncob prank on the two of you." Naruto said, smirking, as the other Gryffindors now looked at him in slight fear to see he was able to out prank the twins, while Fred and George felt like they had really dodged a bullet, for some reason.
Though Hermione looking at Naruto, before sighing
"Boys." Muttered Hermione, as she went back to her book.
*End Flashback*
"Don't worry, they learned what happens, when they challenge the king." Naruto said, with Hermione sighing, but is willing to admit that some of Naruto's pranks were pretty funny.
"Of course, now let's get to class." Said Hermione, as the two proceeded to their first class.
*Later*
Eventually it was time for Charms Class, with them learning the Levitation Charm, Wingardium Leviosa. The students were also partnered up, Naruto with Neville and Hermione with Ron Weasley.
"Now, don't forget that nice wrist movement, we've been practicing! Swish and flick, remember, swish and flick. And saying the magic words properly is very important, too, never forget Wizard Baruffio, who said 's', instead of 'f', and found himself on the floor, with a buffalo on his chest." Squeaked Professor Flitwick, perched on top of his pile of books, as usual.
Naruto managed to get feather to levitate, after a few moments, with Neville trying afterwards, and soon managed to get it.
"Oh well done Mr. Uzumaki, Mr. Longbottom." Flitwick said, with the two boys nodding, as they made their feather float around.
Glancing at where Hermione was sitting, Naruto frowned at seeing Ron waving his arms around.
"Wingardium Leviosa!" He shouted, waving his long arms, like a windmill.
"You're saying it wrong." Said Hermione, after a few moments.
"It's Wing-gardium Levi-o-sa, make the 'gar' nice and long." The girl lectured.
"You do it, then, if you're so clever." Ron retorted.
Hermione rolled up her sleeves and flicked her wand.
"Wingardium Leviosa!" Said Hermione, as their feather rose up, and hovered about four feet above their heads.
"Oh, well done, Ms. Granger!" Said Flitwick, smiling at seeing another of his students managing to get the spell down.
Naruto smiled at his friend, only to frown at seeing the angry look on Ron's face, as he looked at Hermione. A look that remained the entire time, until the end of class.
"It's no wonder no one can stand her. She's an absolute nightmare, honestly. I bet Uzumaki only hangs around her, out of pity." Ron said to Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnigan.
Hearing this, Naruto scowled, and would have went up and smacked Ron upside the head. Only for the blonde to see Hermione run passed him, pushing passed the other students, with Naruto only getting angrier, when he saw she was crying.
Now even angrier at not only Ron insulting his friend, but making her cry, Naruto went up to the ginger and turned him around, grabbing him by his collar.
"Don't ever insult Hermione like that, again! And I don't spend time with her, out of pity, I do it because she's my best friend, and I like spending time with her!" Naruto said with a growl, before shoving Ron against a wall, and going after Hermione.
Ron frowned at Naruto's words, before looking around, and seeing the other Gryffindors frowning at him.
"What?" Ron said, flinching when Neville hit him on the head.
"That was uncalled for, what you said about Hermione. All she did was help you with the spell." Neville said, with the other nodding in agreement.
"He's right, mate. She just wanted to help, only for you to insult her, and say that Naruto only hangs out with her, out of pity." Added Seamus.
"We actually spend time with Hermione, in the Girls' Dorm, she even helps us with subjects we have trouble with." Parvati said, with the other Gryffindor girls nodding in agreement, knowing while Hermione could be a "know-it-all" sometimes, she still meant well and helped them, when they had trouble.
Their words only made the Weasley shuffle nervously and hang his head down in shame, before moving passed them, towards the Great Hall, for the feast.
*Later-With Naruto*
Naruto had eventually followed Hermione to the Girls' Bathroom, where he could hear her crying inside.
"Hermione, don't listen to what Weasley said, you were just trying to be nice and help him, while he insulted you, as thanks. And he was also wrong, we are friends, and I do care about you. You are my first friend, Hermione, as well as my best friend." Naruto said from outside the bathroom, hearing Hermione sniffle, while being thankful, when he heard her crying soon stop.
"Thank you, Naruto. But if you could, I want to be alone for a little." Said Hermione.
"Are you sure? You don't want me to stay?" Naruto asked, understanding Hermione needed some time alone, but also wanted to make sure she'd be alright, by herself.
"I'm sure. Go enjoy the feast, I'll be there in a little bit." Hermione replied, with Naruto sighing and nodded.
"Alright, I'll see you there." Said Naruto, before leaving the bathroom, and headed for the Great Hall.
Upon arriving, Naruto saw a thousand live bats fluttering from the walls and ceiling, while a thousand more swooped over the tables, in low black clouds, making the candles in the pumpkins stutter.
"How's Hermione?" Neville asked, once Naruto sat down, the other First Years looking to see how their fellow Gryffindor was.
"She's fine, at least now she is. She's in the Girl's Bathroom, and just wants to be alone, for now." Said Naruto, while glaring at Ron, still angry at him for making Hermione cry.
"I'm sorry, alright! Today's just been really tense and bad, and I just snapped." Ron said in his defense, given the today was always a tense one for witches and wizards.
"Tell that to Hermione." Retorted Naruto, not interested in hearing his apologies, unless they were said directly to Hermione.
Grabbing some food, Naruto took a few bites, not really hungry, and still worried about Hermione.
Just then, Professor Quirrell came sprinting into the hall, his turban askew and terror on his face. Everyone stared as he reached Professor Dumbledore's chair, slumped against the table.
"Troll…in the dungeons…thought you ought to know!" Quirrell gasped, before falling over in a dead faint.
Hearing this, there was an immediate uproar, the students panicking to hear a troll was in the castle. It took several purple firecrackers exploding from the end of Professor Dumbledore's wand, to bring silence.
"Prefects, lead your Houses back to the dormitories, immediately!" Dumbledore ordered, as the Prefects began gathering their Houses to take them back to their respective dorms.
Naruto was surprised that a troll managed to get into the castle, while looking at Neville, before they went to find Tonks and Susan. Finding them being lead out with the other Hufflepuffs, before stopping, when they saw the two Gryffindors.
"Wotcher Whiskers, Neville. We don't have time to chat." Said Tonks, with Naruto nodding.
"That's fine. We just wanted to see if either of you would know how, or why, a troll was let into the castle." Naruto said, with the two Hufflepuffs shaking their heads, not having any answers as to why a troll was let into the castle, or how it could have gotten in.
"You should be more concerned about who could have let a troll in." Malfoy said, with the Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs looking to see him and Daphne walking up to them, the latter glancing around.
"I believe the more pressing matter, is making sure everyone knows there's a troll in the castle. Speaking of, where's Granger?" Questioned Daphne, with Naruto's eyes widening, as he realized that Hermione didn't know about the troll and could be in danger.
Not a second later, Naruto took off running out of the Great Hall, and back to the Girl's Bathroom.
"Oi, Naruto!" Tonks said, going to grab him, before he could do anything reckless, only to mentally curse, when she missed him.
Knowing she couldn't leave one, potentially two, junior students alone with a troll on the loose, Tonks ran after Naruto. With the First Years following after her, to help, while Ron followed after them, as well. Having overheard them and felt guilty that it was his fault Hermione was likely in danger.
Daphne and Malfoy went with them, as while they weren't friends with Naruto and Hermione, they also didn't want them to be killed by a troll.
'Bloody hell.' Tonks thought, seeing the First Years following her, and doubted she had time to make them go back to their dorms.
"Alright, if you all want to come and help, then fine. But you do what I say, and not do anything stupid or reckless, got it." Tonks said, completely serious, unlike her usual self, knowing now wasn't the time to take unnecessary risks.
The First Years nodded, with Tonks nodding back, as they ran to follow after Naruto.
It didn't take long, before they got close to the Girls' Bathroom, before they heard it, a low grunting, and the shuffling footfalls of gigantic feet. The students looking at the end of a passage, to the left, as something huge was moved toward them. With all of them moving into the shadows, to avoid being seen, and watched as it emerged into a patch of moonlight.
It was a horrible sight. Twelve feet tall, its skin was a dull, granite gray, its great lumpy body, like a boulder, with its small bald head perched on top, like a coconut. It had short legs thick as tree trunks, with flat, horny feet. The smell coming from it was incredibly horrible. It was holding a huge wooden club, which it dragged along the floor, because its arms were so long.
"Oh Merlin." Susan whispered in shock at the sight of the troll, all of them feeling nervous at the idea of being seen by the creature, and having it attack them.
The troll stopped next to a doorway and peered inside. It waggled its long ears, making up its tiny mind, then slouched slowly into the room. Seeing this, Naruto's eyes widened in fear, knowing it just went into the Girl's Bathroom.
Though before he could rush in to save her, Tonks quickly grabbed his arm.
"Uh-uh, don't even think about it! You aren't running in there alone; we go in together, and work on a way to stop the troll, and save Hermione. Got it?!" Whispered Tonks, with Naruto nodding reluctantly, wanting to just save his friend.
"Alright, I'll go first, the rest of you follow my lead, and work on distracting the troll, long enough for Naruto to save Hermione, allowing us to escape, or until a teacher arrives." Said Tonks, looking at the First Years, all of them nodding.
Seeing this, Tonks nodded as well, before making her way to the bathroom, all of them tensing, when they heard Hermione scream inside. Quickly entering the bathroom, the students saw Hermione was shrinking against the opposite wall, looking as if she was about to faint. The troll was advancing on her, knocking the sinks off the walls, as it went.
Looking around, and seeing the destroyed stalls and sinks, Tonks waved her wand, causing one of the destroyed sinks to float off the ground, before launching it at the back of the troll's head. This had the effect of getting the trolls attention off of Hermione, and on the students, with Tonks motioning the others to do what she did, as they began levitating debris and throwing it at the troll, even Ron managing to succeed in levitating some debris, and throw it.
The troll groaned and tried blocking the thrown objects. Seeing the creature was distracted, Tonks motioned Naruto to get to Hermione.
Nodding, Naruto quickly ran past the troll, ducking under a wild swing of its club, and went up to Hermione, pulling her into a protective embrace.
"Come on." Naruto said, with Hermione nodding shakily, before looking at the troll.
"W-we have t-to d-distract it, so w-we c-can escape." Said Hermione, with Naruto looking at the troll, knowing she was right, as it was starting to move forward, towards the others.
"Well, we never got the chance to try it on something alive. Now we have a target." Naruto said, as Hermione nodded, understanding what he meant, they could try using Gandr to stun the troll, long enough for them to escape.
Looking at the troll, gripping their wrists, Naruto and Hermione pointed their index and middle fingers at it.
"Gandr!" The two said, firing off red shots of magic that combined together, and impacted the troll.
The combined Gandr's caused the troll to stumble slightly, and fall to one knee, allowing Naruto and Hermione to run past it, and to the others, who were all surprised at what they did. Though before they could say anything, or make their escape, the bathroom doors burst open as Dumbledore and the teachers arrived. With the Headmaster shooting an overpowered Stupefy at the troll, causing it to immediately fall backwards unconscious, as the other teachers conjured chains and ropes to keep the troll subdued.
Once the troll was properly restrained, the teachers rounded on the students.
"Explain, now!" McGonagall demanded, wanting an explanation as to why they were here fighting the troll, and not in their dorms.
None of the students had an answer, not wanting to get in trouble. Though Hermione was about to step forward and take the blame, only for someone to beat her to it.
"It's my fault Professor." Ron said, stepping forward, knowing it's his fault Hermione was here, and why they all needed to go save her, which he told the teachers.
"I'm sorry for what I said, it was wrong." Said Ron to Hermione.
"It's, it's fine." Hermione replied, knowing he made up for it, by coming to help save her, and willing to accept the blame.
"Well, while it's good you owned up to your mistake Mr. Weasley. Your actions still endangered, not only Ms. Granger, but also several other students, who came to save her. Twenty points from Gryffindor for your treatment of your fellow students, and a weeks' worth of detention." Said McGonagall, with Ron lowering his head.
"Though in light of recent events, I award five points to each of you, for coming to the aid of a fellow student. And an added ten points to Gryffindor and Slytherin, for putting aside House rivalries, to work together." Dumbledore added, smiling at his students, proud of how they were able to work together.
This made the students happy, glad for the points they managed to win, before they were dismissed back to their dormitories, while the teachers dealt with the troll. But on the way out, Naruto and Hermione couldn't help, but notice that Snape had blood on his leg, and seemed to be limping.
'What happened to him?' Naruto thought, confused as to how Snape could be injured.
"Hey Naruto, Hermione, what was that thing you did to the troll?" Susan asked, curious of the spell they used, and how they could use it without their wands.
The others also looked at the duo, also curious of what the spell.
"It's called Gandr, and I guess you could say it's not a traditional spell." Replied Hermione.
"It's part of something called Magecraft, a type of magic that doesn't require wands, or anything you'd think would be needed. It's also more powerful from, everything we've read about it." Naruto said, as the two began explaining what they knew about Magecraft.
"Would you be able to teach us how to use Magecraft?" Asked Tonks, eager at the chance to learn such a type of magic, and knew it'd go a long way in her goal of becoming an Auror.
The others were also eager at the chance to learn Magecraft, knowing how useful such a skill would be.
"We can try, but we don't know that much, since we just started learning ourselves. But yeah, we can show you what we've learned." Hermione answered, with Naruto nodding in agreement.
"Hm, I suppose I was wrong; you might actually be a decent witch after all, Granger." Daphne said, while smirking.
"That actually sounded like a compliment, Greengrass. Careful, wouldn't want anyone to think the Ice Queen is melting." Said Hermione, smirking back at the Slytherin, though neither having any true animosity.
"By the way, did anyone else notice the blood on Snape's leg?" Susan asked, having noticed Snape's leg was bleeding, this getting everyone's attention, as they began wondering how Snape could have been injured, if it wasn't from the troll.
Though Naruto and Hermione had an idea, wondering if Snape had been injured by the Cerberus.
"Do you think Snape tried getting past the Cerberus?" Hermione muttered quietly to Naruto, only for the others to stop, and look at them with shocked expressions.
"There's a Cerberus here?!" Shouted Malfoy, before his mouth was covered, with Tonks giving her cousin a light glare, since someone might have heard that.
"What do you mean a Cerberus is here?" Tonks questioned, with Naruto and Hermione sighing, before explaining about the Cerberus on the Third Floor Corridor, and that it seemed to be guarding something.
"Could Snape have tried stealing whatever's being kept there?" Neville said, only for Naruto to shake his head.
"Snape wasn't trying to steal it. He's too obvious, to be the culprit." Said Naruto, knowing that Snape seemed like too much of an obvious suspect, and that usually meant he was definitely innocent.
"Well, who else could it be?" Ron questioned.
"Quirrell. I saw him, the day Neville fell off his broom, and he was just standing there, not making any move to help Neville when he fell. He was also the one to tell everyone about the troll, while we were all in th Great Hall, and he wasn't, giving him the perfect chance to let it in. And while everyone was panicking and going back to their dorms, while the teachers were searching for the troll, he would have had the chance to go to the Third Floor and try stealing whatever's being kept there. But maybe Snape beat him to it, and made sure the dog was alert, but was injured, or he was injured from trying to stop Quirrell." Naruto explained, with everyone looking at him in surprise, at his explanation, while realizing he may be right about Quirrell.
But if that's true, then what exactly was Quirrell trying to steal, and why?
So, what did you think, good. Yep Naruto and Hermione have learned about what happened to the Potter's and Harry, now realizing why the Magical World is separating itself from the Muggle World. We also get some flashbacks showing the prank Naruto helped the Weasley Twins with and the end of their prank war, with Naruto coming out the victor after pranking (torturing) the twins but sparing them his most terrifying prank. Next we see the Charms Class with Ron once again making Hermione cry, with Naruto and the others coming to her defense this time around, along with Naruto chasing after her. Afterwards we also the troll once again break into the castle, with Naruto going to save Hermione, being joined by Tonks, Susan, Neville, Ron, and surprisingly Daphne and Malfoy. Leading to them distracting the troll while Naruto and Hermione both use Gandr on it, stalling long enough for the teachers to arrive and subdue it, with Ron then even owning up to his mistake. Finally we see Naruto and Hermione have agreed to teach the others Magecraft, along with telling them about the Cerberus and that it's guarding something, after noticing Snape's injured leg, with Naruto also sharing his suspicions about Quirrell. Now then onto the Omake!
Omake: Calamity and Apostles
In a hidden location, a meeting between the Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors was being held. With this meeting being to discuss the most recent events that have been happening, most likely a result of the death of Harry Potter, thanks to Voldemort, or as they knew him, Tom Riddle.
All of the Dead Apostle Ancestors had a mixed opinion of them. Most of them believing his attempts to become immortal as an amusingly poor imitation of their own immortality. All while others found the Dark Wizard as nothing more than a nuisance. Though there were a few that found his existence as a major offense, with his use of the Horcruxes. A form of Magic, that not even Zouken and their unofficial member, Roa, used. With the latter being viewed as a heretic, by the Twenty-Seven Dead Apostles.
Meanwhile, as the meeting was going on, Altrouge Brunestud, leader of one of the two primary factions, looked around in boredom. Though her crimson eyes then turned to her pet, Primate Murder, and was intrigued to see him back in his Cath Palug form, who she affectionately referred to as Fou, looking in a particular direction. Her intrigue only growing, when he sniffed in a certain direction, before took off running.
'Well, that's interesting.' Altrouge thought, wonder what, or who, could have possibly gotten the attention of the Beast of Gaia.
Whatever, or whoever, it is, they also now had Altrouge's own attention, as well.
And it looks like Naruto will be getting some new attention on him in the future. So, review if you liked go away if you didn't.
Storm out
