Chapter 38: Brook's Concert Halted
Grove 12
Elfman, Lisanna, and Mirajane were walking around the area.
"Looks like the navy is here alright,"
"Yeah, I heard the navy has been scouting around more since after the war,"
"Right, but, we'll show our manly power to them!"
They walked further to the area.
"Where is Aquapad by the way?" Lisanna asked.
"He went to get something for Rayleigh, I believe it was some payment, not money I assume," Mira replied. "Don't worry, he can handle himself, I mean he's a strong Fishman."
"Yeah, he's manly!" Elfman roared pumping his arms.
Grove 46
A meeting spot for the Straw Hats
Every recruit was waiting there.
Behind a large piece of stone wall was one marine hiding.
"Looks like they're about 100 recruits, most of them are nobodies, but, there four captains at least."
"Gashed" Albion
Bounty: 92 Million Berries.
"Gashed" Albion, he's worth 92 million berries."
Lip-Service Doughty
Bounty: 88 MIllion Berries
"There's Lip-Service Doughty, who's worth 88 million berries."
'Wet-Haired' Caribou
Bounty: 210 Million Berries
"They aren't the ones I'm worried about, they got Wet-Haired Caribou."
'Blood Splatter' Coribou
Bounty: 190 Million Berries.
"He brought his brother Blood Splatter" Coribou, who's worth 190 million Berries."
The Wet-Haired pirate sensed the intruder and turned his head around towards a few broken stone walls.

At Grove 35
Gajeel and his group were on their way to buy some fuel like Usopp and Nami were.
"Man, I'm bored," Gajeel said yawning with boredom.
"C'mon, we're here to get some fuel for the Water Fairy," Levy reminded with a sigh. "So, stop your moaning."
"Shut up, you little busy body," The iron dragon slayer replied coldly.
Levy huffed at the remark. "Oh, you're still a jerk."
"C'mon you two knock it off," Lily said. "We need to get some supplies not to mention we need some new clothes."
They soon arrived at the shopping mall and got their supplies even some new clothes.
As soon as they walked out of the mall, two male citizens were walking by whispering to each other.
"Did you hear, Soul King is playing at Grove 33,"
"Yeah, I wish I had the time to buy a ticket there, the music that Soul King sings is enough to get your bones moving, he's the world's greatest singer"
Gajeel caught this and smirked. "A concert, world's greatest singer, huh?"
Levy twitched nervously upon seeing the look on the iron dragon slayer's face. "Gajeel, this isn't the time." She whispered.
However, to her dismay, he ran off in a flash.
"Gajeel!" Levy called. "Come back here!"
Lily sighed. "Looks like this Soul King has gotten his attention," He then sprouted his wings. "I bet he thinks he found his competition since he sings himself."
"Let's just go after him!" Levy suggested as she and black exceed ran off into the direction their friend went.
At Grove 16
Sting's group was walking around the area.
"It seems a little quiet here," The Sabertooth Guildmaster said cautiously.
"Yes, I agree, then again, more pirates are all around the island, so, it makes sense that this place is deserted," Rouge added cautiously looking around some nearby trees. "Other than, the Straw Hats are recruiting more members, so, other pirates must be mostly in the town."
"Quite eerie even in the daytime," Frosh said.
"I wonder if the others are having any luck," Yukino wondered.
A group of monkey-like men was hiding in behind two large trees each one wielding spears.
"Looks like we got some good bounties,"
"Yeah, boss, not to mention the girl is a babe, I mean look at those knockers,"
Sting and Rogue heard this due to their high sense of hearing, both nodded at each other confirming they knew they had company waiting in the dark.
"Hey, we know you're back there, come out!"
"That's right, we can hear you punks, come out!"
and their men were surprised, they didn't make a sound yet they heard them.
"Heh heh heh"
"Looks like we got you, Sting the White Dragon!"
Sting wasn't phased but didn't look back. "Who are you guys?"
Coffee Monkeys
"We're the Coffee Monkeys!" The leader stated. "We're a group of kidnappers, our last attempt was to take the Straw Hat Pirates' flagship, but, that proved to be a failure, however, we returned and learned of new rookies that were causing an uproar in the past months, so, you guys and that hottie girl come up us quietly."
Sting and Rogue looked at the strange monkey-like men, then a dark glare appeared on their faces.
"You think you can just approach us and ask us to come with you?"
"If that's the case, then, we'll have to teach you guys a lesson,"
Lector and Frosch stood by their partners.
"That's right, Sting is the leader of our guild, you shouldn't mess with him!"
"Yeah, Rouge is strong too, you guys should be the ones walking away!"
The Coffee Monkeys were in disbelief as their eyes popped out and their mouths were gaping opening.
"Holy crap, their cats are talking!"
"Talking cats, that's insane!"
"We're not cats, we're Exceeds!" Lector shouted comically.
"Never mind, once we take your bounties, we'll take that pretty girl with us!" The leader said smiling devilishly at the second celestial wizard.
Yukino felt her skin crawl. "Uhhh..."
Sting gritted his teeth. "You lay a finger on her and I'll make sure you punks regret it," He growled.
Rogue put his arm out. "Let me handle this," The shadow dragon slayer said meeting his master's gaze.
The white dragon slayer nodded in approval.
Rogue walked over to the monkey-like men and gave off an angry face. "You monkeys don't know what kind of fighting I can inflict, the kind that'll make you all run away screaming."
A shadow-like aura soon covered the shadow dragon slayer's body.
"What is that coming out of his body!?" A Coffee Monkey asked in confusion.
"Looks like darkness!" Another Coffee Monkey guessed.
The leader was trying to make sense of what he was seeing, but, he kept his cool. "So, you think you can take us on at once?"
The look on Rogue's face didn't change as he continued to walk closer to the monkeys. "I don't think I know, so, bring it on."
The leader smirked. "You got guts and in a minute they'll on the ground!" He attempted to stab the shadow dragon slayer in the heart, but, to his surprise, his spear went right through him."
"What the hell?" The leader wondered.
Rouge's body was made of shadows and a rough smile formed on his face and appeared behind the monkey. "Is that all you got?"
The Coffee Monkey leader turned around and tried to stab the man again, but, his attack just went through. "Damn it!" He cursed in frustration.
He continuously tried to stab Rogue, but, to no avail.
"My turn!" Rogue stated. "Shadow Dragon's Slash!"
He threw his fist that was covered shadows and punched the monkey-like man in the cheek which send him flying away.
The leader crashed into one of the trees and was knocked unconscious with his eyes rolled back, blood dripping from his mouth.
The other monkey kidnappers were in disbelief, their leader was knocked out in one attack.
"You'll pay for that, you bastard!" One of them shouted in anger. "Get him!"
The other Coffee Monkeys lunged at the shadow dragon slayer. "I think it's time we end this." He took a deep breath as a magical circle appeared in front of his mouth. "Shadow Dragon's Roar!"
A large burst of shadows was released from the black-haired man's mouth.
The breath attack engulfed the entire monkeys and send them crashing into a few other trees.
All of them crashed onto the ground and were conscious.
"Holding back were you?" Lector questioned.
"They weren't that strong, so, they didn't deserve my full power," Rogue answered walking back to his friends. "Anyway, let's continue, we must search for these three minks."
The shadow dragon slayer was holding three wanted posters of Usagi, Temukai, and Tigeress.
"Right, they should be on the island somewhere," Sting said observing the three images of the Minks.
"Yeah, not to mention they're probably around searching for their friend since word of Pango being alive probably reached here," Lector added.
"Then, let's get going!" Rogue said putting his arm out, however, he felt his hand was grabbed something soft. "Huh?"
Yukino was blushing furiously and embarrassingly as her mouth was gaping open. "Ah, ah, ah!" Rogue reacted the same way, upon realizing that he did again.
Bonk
"You idiot, hands off!" Sting roared comically causing the twin dragon slayer to be knocked on the ground.
"Sorry, it was an accident," Rogue groaned while lying down on the ground and a red lump on his head.
At Grove 46
The marine scout continued to report. "We must proceed with caution, the pirates with the bounties I reported are here, we must take action at once, and get back up here as soon as possible."
"Ahem..." The marine froze for a moment upon hearing the voice.
He slowly turned his head around and to his horror was Caribou, who found him.
At Grove 66
Navy Garrison Base
A marine officer was walking with other soldiers until his transponder snail started going off.
"What is it?"
"Sir, I just spotted former Vice-Admiral Gray with Natsu the Fire Dragon, Potion and Snake Fighter Fujika, former captain Miyaka, and one of the Celestial Sisters Lucy!"
"Are you sure?" The marine officer questioned.
"Yes sir, it's possible their other crew members are somewhere on the island too!"
"Alright, over and out!" The marine officer said hanging up the transponder snail and turning to the other soldiers. "Listen up, another scout has spotted the new rookies that you all probably heard about, former Vice-Admiral Gray along with some of these new criminals are here!"
He showed wanted posters of Gray and the group he was with.
"Damn, things just got tougher!"
"What do we do now?"
"Proceed with caution, don't engage in battle unless needed!" The marine officer replied. "The last thing we start a war zone on the island!"
"What about the other Fairy Pirates?" A soldier questioned.
"I'll have two more guys keep an eye out for any more of the Fairy Pirate crew, for now, we continue to Grove 46 and confront Straw Hat Luffy and his crew!"
"SIR!"
Sabaody Dome
Brook continued to sing his song, the crowd was going wild and cheered loudly as the energy from the music they were hearing was flowing through their bodies.
At Grove 46
The marine scout was dragged away by Caribou.
The other marine that was on the other line, realized the situation and alerted the other marines at the base.
"I hope you weren't reporting the navy base, you weren't were ya?" Caribou asked suspiciously.
"I... I didn't get the chance, I was about to until you grabbed me!" The marine lied.
Though, Caribou fell for the lie. "Good, we can't have you doing that, can we?" He moved his face closer to the marine with a creepy expression. "Why, this whole place would end up stained bright red with the blood of your marine friends!"
Caribou eyed at his brother. "Right, Coribou?!"
"Uh-huh, sorry, big bro dude, I'm sorry!" His brother bowed in a different direction.
"I'm over here, ya big lunking moron!" Caribou snapped comically.
The marine saw the distraction and put his hand in his back attempting to grab his pistol.
Suddenly, Caribou turned his attention back to the marine, seeing a sneak attack, he grabbed a spear and impaled it into the marine's chest.
"AAAHHHH!" He screamed in agony.
"He did it..." A pirate whispered.
"So, the rumors about him are true..." Another added.
"O God, I beg of your forgiveness!" Caribou pleaded. "Forgive this fool of a marine who was idiot enough to reach for his weapon and try to kill me!"
"I'm sorry! Big God dude! I'm sorry!" Coribou pleaded in the same direction he was before.
"Bury him, Coribou!" Caribou commanded.
His brother began to dig a hole, seeing the situation the marine begged for his life. "Please, I didn't call anyone, please!"
"That's enough of that, Caribou!" A voice rang out.
"AHHHHH! Captain Strawhat Luffy has arrived!" A pirate stated.
"Forget that worthless marine bug, toss him out and leave him!" The fake Luffy appeared on a large platform made of stone, beside him was Fake Franky, Nami, and Sniper King.
"An' take a good look around you men, you may not know these faces now, from here on out, every one of you is a member of my crew, the Straw Hat Pirates!"
The other pirates cheered.
"What's going on over there?" Luffy asked. "I can't wait to see everyone." He glanced at the two imposters. "You both changed a lot, but, that's okay."
Fake Sanji and Zoro began to whisper to each other.
"It looks like this boy with the large bag has some connection to the real Straw Hat Pirates, who the hell is he?"
"I dunno, but our best chance of not giving anything away is to keep our mouths shut."
Fake Luffy continued to give his speech. "Now, once I become the King of the Pirates, you guys will be members of the Pirate King, and the for that purpose that I need you all, to be my arms and legs in the adventures ahead, to put your lives on the line and fight to the end!"
The new pirates cheered.
"It's like a dream, I can't believe we get to join the crew...of the man who's caused chaos throughout the world like at Enies Lobby, Impel Down, and Marine HQ, all three of the World Government's big stations!"
"That legendary pirate is gonna be our captain!"
In one of the large trees was Dr. Stylish.
"So, you think you continue deceiving these guys, we'll see about that," He glanced down at some of the male pirates. "Too bad some of these pirates have to go, though, I hoping to get to know them."
"Now, there's only one reason I've gathered you here today!" Fake Luffy announced. "Some low-life no-name scumbags have had the gall to disrespect me, your beloved captain!"
The other pirates were seemingly interested in this.
"And they are still somehow here in the Archipelago, so, I want you to hunt them down and drag them back here while they are kicking and screaming to me!"
"Captain!" Fake Sanji called out.
"Call big boss, ya numbskull!" Fake Luffy corrected rudely.
"We didn't manage to find the pet, but, we got the boy with the large backpack!"
Luffy tilts his head in confusion.
B
At Sabaody Dome
Brook was on a break and talking with someone on a transponder snail.
"The navy is here, so they know who I am, right,"
Little did he know his manager was eavesdropping and he didn't seem too happy.
"ENCORE ENCORE ENCORE ENCORE!" The audience cheered excitedly
Brook's staff kept some of the crowd calm and prevented a few from getting over the railing.
"At the moment, I got a lot of fans calling for an encore, and I can't let them down," Brook continued as he turned to the sound of the cheers. "I think to owe this at least, so, wait up for me."
The crowd continued to cheer.
In the nearby hallway were a few marines hiding in the shadows wielding guns.
Outside the dome.
Gajeel and his group arrived there.
"This should be good," The iron dragon slayer said with his trademark smile.
"Gajeel, we don't have time to see the concert," Levy said.
The iron dragon slayer just smirked. "Sorry, short stuff, I ain't letting this slide." He walked into the entrance door.
Levy and Lily followed cautiously.
A short time later
Brook walked onto the stage as the spotlight shined on him and the crowds' cheers got even louder.
The skeleton took hold of a microphone and played his guitar's strings which made a rock'n roll sound.
Then the lights went off except for one blue light that still lit up the stage.
"Now listen everybody, I'm afraid I got something heavy news to tell you," Brook said with a tone of sadness.
The crowd began to whisper amongst themselves in confusion.
"After this show I-
Bang Bang
The crowd began to panic hearing the gunshots and looked to where they came from.
The lights came back on and further in the back were several navy soldiers.
"Nobody move!" A marine officer warned and held a wanted poster of Brook when he was alive. "This is the last member of the Rumbar Pirate Crew Brook the Hunter Swordsman presumed until now and with a bounty of 33,000,000 million!"
The crowd was puzzled about the navy talking about.
Gajeel and his friends were hiding in the hallway.
"Brook the Hunting Swordsman?" Levy wondered.
"Presumed dead?" Lily added.
Gajeel just had his trademark smile on his face.
"Despite his skeleton appearance, our reports indicate that Soul King is this pirate!" The marine officer continued. "In addition to his previous crimes, we learned that he's working for Straw Hat Luffy, Soul King Brook, or rather Hunting Swordsman Brook, you are under arrest for piracy!"
Brook didn't say a word, he still calmly at the navy soldiers.
The crowd couldn't believe what they hearing.
"No, it can't be true!" A woman sobbed in disbelief.
"I feel like my whole life is a lie," A man said disappointed.
"He was a pirate all this time?" Another man wondered in disbelief.
"Wait, isn't Straw Hat still missing for the last 2 years?" A third man questioned.
The leader of the Long arms tribe along with his two men approached the Soul King.
"It's been quite a run, Brook,"
The skeleton pirate wasn't phased. "Your betrayal is no surprise, Mr. Manager."
"You're the one that told me that after this show, you would retire," The Long-Arms Tribe leader said looking upset. "A pity, but, perhaps I should've kept you in that cage, you betrayed us, our company is ruined."
Gajeel was hearing this conversation due to his high sense of hearing.
"Sounds like this old manager isn't too happy."
Levy noticed something odd about the manager and his men. "Are those long arms they have?"
The manager took out a pistol and pointed it at his former star. "If my life goes to hell, then I'll take you with me."
Levy was disgusted by this. "That manic, he would hurt his former star."
Lily noticed the calm expression on Brook's face. "He seems so calm despite the situation he's in."
At Grove 21
Usagi, Tigress, and Temukai continued their way back to Shakky's Rip-Off Bar.
"Snort...snort...snort..." Temukair said like a real Buffalo. "Feels we were walking forever."
"Considering we were walking all day since this afternoon, that would be the case," Tigress added.
"Anyway, Shakky told us that Pango just arrived on Sabaody, but, he left for the Sunny with Wendy the Sky Dragon and Catgirl Carla," Usagi informed holding three wanted posters of the two.
"Let's just hope we don't know into any trouble,"
Sting and his group arrived in Grove 17 after their fight against Coffee Monkeys, they started to talk about the fight.
"Those guys were nothing but talk," Sting said seemingly bored.
"That's right, they didn't deserve Sting nor Rouge's full power," Lector added.
"Maybe, but, we got some action," Rogue said looking the other way.
"I think so too," Frosch agreed with the other exceed.
"Even though I didn't get to fight," Yukino said feeling a bit left out.
Not too far away.
Usagi, Temukai, and Tigress were coming in their direction.
"Who are those guys?" Tigress wondered.
Usagi got out a book that had bounties of wanted pirates. "Sting and Lector." He said quietly looking at the two wanted posters. "Yukino, one of the Celestial Sisters..." After putting the pieces together, he realized who the people he was looking at were.
Temukai realized the situation and speed off in a flash. "Wait for us, you big oaf!" Tigress comically yelled.
Usagi chased after his friends.
Sting and Rogue heard the incoming noise from the three minks.
"Wait!" They both comically screamed putting her hands out in a stopping pose.
Temukai realized he was going to ram into the two dragon slayers and put his brakes or rather hooves, but, he crashed onto the two humans.
"Ouch..." The twin dragon slayers groaned in pain.
"Are you guys ok!?" Yukino asked taken by surprise.
Tigress pulled up Temukai by his tail. "Moron, don't run so fast next time!"
Bonk Bonk
The water Buffalo mink had two red lumps on his head. "Ouch, sorry, snort...snort." The Sabortooth wizards were in awe at the display from the tiger mink.
"Anyway, do you guys know of Panda Mink named Pango?" Usagi asked handing over a wanted poster of the panda bear.
Sting turned his head in realization. "Yeah, he's at Grove 41 with two friends of ours, we'll take you there!"
Usagi smiled. "Alright."

At Grove 33
Sabaody Dome
The marines got into position to shoot Brook.
"Hands in the air pirate! There's no escape!"
Brook stood still for a moment and then he brought his right hand to his guitar's strings. "Members of the band."
The band members looked at their singer.
"My lovely chorus..." The three female choruses looked to the skeleton musician too.
"This will be my final song," Brook continued. "Will you share it with me?"
The band members were a little unsure at first until they heard the loud rock'n roll musical sound.
"Never fear, my song has more than just my soul, it has power!"
The long-arm tribe leader couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Are you insane, nobody will let you play a song after this stunt!"
Brook pulled up his glasses. "You might not see this way, but, I'm grateful for the time we spent together."
"Eh?" The long-arm tribe leader said in surprise, not expecting him to say that even though he's betraying him.
"I'm happy that you helped me for the past two years and for bringing me here, thank you," Brook continued as his manager was still surprised.
"My last time I was here with my crew was tragic, my crew and I lost an important battle here..." The former Rumbar Pirate continued. "I'm just a musician, though I possess swordsman skills, but, my job is to make our journey for fun."
Everyone continued to hear him out as the skeleton held his head high. "I heard the stories of Straw Hat Luffy, everyone must think he's dead, but, I can be assured to you all that he's not!"
Gajeel, Levy, and Lily continued to hear the speech.
"Like hell, he would be dead, he's alive and kicking!" Brook proclaimed with confidence in his tone. "You can tell the world!"
The audience was silent at this.
Reporters went to their station and called their sources to tell of the news.
"While you're at it, Luffy is going to be King of the Pirates someday!" Brook continued standing tall and showing so much confidence. "Once I set sail with him in the New World, I want to send him on Soul King Style!"
Gajeel grinned impressively.
Levy was touched by the loyalty and belief of the skeleton.
Lily smiled at this speech.
The audience smiled at this.
"That sounds so cool!" A woman said getting fired up.
"NOW DO MY FANS STILL LOVE ME!?" Brook questioned excitedly.
"YEAAAHHH!" The crowd responded loudly with their arms up.
"I'll dedicate this to my crew...my friends...MY SOUL WILL SING TO YOU ONE LAST TIME!" Brook proclaimed ready to start his final song. "Luffy, let's go to the New World together."
The navy didn't share his enthusiasm though.
"The show is over, you're under-" He was stopped by a man that covered his mouth with his hands.
"Hey, shut up!"
"Please, let him sing his final song, what harm can it do?!" A woman pleaded to a marine.
"Yeah, she's right, you can wait later you bastards!" A second man shouted.
"Music is power, music is always on your side," Brook chanted with a smile.
The rock band and the chorus smiled at their singer's speech, agreeing to go with his last and final song.
"1 2 3 4..."
The lights went to pink color.
"I call this one: The New World!" Brook proclaimed.
The band and chorus began to do their part as the skeleton began to sing.
Gajeel felt the energy from the song. "This tune has gotten me fired up."
Levy was felt the same. "Yeah, his singing is giving me such energy."
"Yeah, I feel my bones moving wildly," Lily said with a big smile.
The manager attempted to shoot Brook, but, only to be stopped by two of his men, who were both sentimental with tears.
The crowd cheered with excitement.
In Grove 17
Sting and his group reunited the three minks with their friend Pango, the reunion was touching, and they got to meet some of the Straw Hat Pirates.
Usopp, Nami, and Chopper arrived there before they did, Franky showed off his new looks impressing the guys, though, the girls weren't.
Sanji and Zoro continued their brawl as Kagura, Mest, and Erza watched the two rivals.
Natsu and his group were shopping for food, the fire dragon slayer was practically drooling at the delicious meals that had meat, but, only to be stopped by Lucy whenever he tried to take a bite out of some food when he forgot to pay.
At the moment that concert ended with a smokescreen, but, there was a sound that sounded like a cannonball was shot out or something.
Firework shined in the air as the audience smiled in amazement.
The navy looked where the skeleton pirate was standing and he was nowhere in sight.
Brook was outside riding on a Flying Fish rider.
"YO-OHOHOHOH!" The skeleton laughed as he rode away.
"Damn it, we can't get his bounty now!" The manager complained as he punched his two men for their emotional states.
One of the navy soldiers turned around and gasped. "AH! It's Gajeel and his kitty!"
The marine officer that announced Brook's identity gasped. "You, Gajeel the Iron Dragon, you and your friends will be under arrest for piracy!"
Gajeel just did his trademark laugh. "Heh, on contrary, my friends and I won't be going anywhere with you!" He used his powers to create iron cuffs that trapped the marines.
"Let's get out of here! "Levy stated.
"Right, I'll make us a tunnel!" Gajeel stated. "Iron Dragon's Shovel!"
His hands transformed into pointed shovels, allowing him to dig through the floor with immense power and speed. "Lily, take Levy back to the ship and deliver that fuel right away, Rayleigh will also need her magic to help with the coating!"
Levy didn't understand what her crush was going to do himself. "Gajeel, what about you?
"Don't worry about me, I'll catch up later!"
Lily decided to trust his partner's words, he then turned into his battle form and carried the Solid Script mage in the air. "Levy, let's go, he'll catch up with us later, trust him!"
An entire crowd was in complete awe of what they were seeing.
"Whoa, that kitty got big!"
"And it flies too!"
"That spiky black-haired dude turned his arms into shovels and dug into the ground!"
A short time later.
Rayleigh was on the Water Fairy, he writing down instructions of the coating on a piece of paper, Makarov returned to the ship to help a little.
"There, that should do, read and memorize these instructions," He handed over the paper to the short old man.
Makarov took the paper and placed it in his pant's pocket. "Hmm...thank you."
Rayleigh noticed the strange behavior. "Something wrong, you look a little stressed out."
Makarov closed his eyes. "You noticed, I can see why you were the vice-captain of Gold D. Roger's crew." He eventually explained how he was told about the three Night Raid assassins and it's affected him.
Rayleigh was silent for a moment before he decided to speak. "I can tell you're troubled, I admit, when they told me about their past, I was taken aback, however, those three assassins and their friends helped protect this island from pirates and a corrupted marine, so, they seem alright." He turned around before walking over to the rope ladder.
"On top of that, your kids trust them, so, no doubt, they're getting along,"
The former Fairy Tail guild master was silent.
"Hey Rayleigh!" In the air was Lily carrying Levy while flying. "We got the fuel, we're ready to start the coating right away!"
"Good," Makarov said then he noticed someone was missing. "Where's Gajeel?"
"He went to do something," Levy replied. "It considers the fake Straw Hats."
