Chapter 54: History of the Two Heroes Part 2

Jimbei started on Gin's story.

"Gin, he was quite the troublesome child even around the time I was still on the island as a knight of Neptune's army, though he became an even bigger mess to the island."

Gin

Thirteen years old

Wolf Mink Whale Shark Hybrid

Gin was causing trouble for the citizens of Fishman Island.

He was using his speed to sneak off with food and cash.

"Get back here thief!" A store owner demanded.

The Ammo Knights attempted to stop him but he used his electric claws to defeat them and fled away.

Neptune was discussing with Jimbei.

"Jimbei, the report of the Fishman Island that some shops lost amount of money and food, it's Gin, that hybrid," Neptune said. "I know you're no longer a knight of my army, regardless I want you to bring him in."

The three princes overheard this. "Wait, Jimbei, we want to come with you," Ryuboshi called out.

Jimbei stopped for a moment as Fukaboshi had his say. "Yeah, this place is our home too, we can't let someone steal from the shops."

"Right, we can't let a criminal roam on the streets!" Ryuboshi added with a singing tone.

Otohime heard this and volunteered to come along.

"Wait mother, I want to come too, I want to see this hybrid," Shirahoshi requested.

Gin was at the Conchcrode plaza stocking the food in a fridge and the treasure he stole in a secret hole that was hidden in a wall big enough to hide the treasure. "Now, I will get the chance to leave the Fishman District, so, I shall take the cash and-"

"Hey!" Gin flinched at the voice. "Crap, it's Jimbei!" He snarled and decided this meant war.

"Come on out, we know you're here, Megalo smelled your scent!"

Megalo was there as Neptune's pet and growling.

The hybrid stood up and went to the center of the plaza where Jimbei along with some Ammo Knights.

"Gin, you must return the stolen treasure, if you do, we'll drop the charges, but if you refuse we'll take the treasure by force!" Jimbei warned as the Ammo Knights prepared to fight.

Gin smirked. "Come and get it." Electrical sparks began to surge on his hands.

"The palace guards tried to fight against Gin, but, he was too stronger, his speed and his electro abilities proved to be a big problem," Present Jimbei's voice said.

"Electro abilities?" Gray questioned.

"It's an ability that Minks have, even small Minks could possess them," Jimbei explained. "Anyway, the fight continued...unfortunately the palace guards were defeated...so, I decided to step in."

The palace guards were on the ground unconscious with their eyes rolled back with burned marks from the electro abilities.

"I admit you've gotten a lot stronger since the last time I saw you..." Jimbei praised despite not smiling. "Regardless, I can't tolerate this behavior and theft that you caused, so, I'll be your next opponent."

Gin smirked again showing his canine-like teeth. "Bring it, old-timer!"

The two fought against each other.

Jimbei was shocked countless times, but, he still stayed strong and he was able to use his Fishman Karate to knock Gin away.

The fight continued for an hour, both were on the verge of fainting.

The walls of the plaza were damaged while some other parts of the walls were cracked or broken through.

"That Gin is stronger than I can remember," child Futoboshi said.

"Yeah, he's so strong that he can go fin-to-fin with the big boss!" Child Ryouboshi commented with a singing tone.

"He knows how to kick butt, though, Gin is getting worn out!" Child Manboshi added.

Shirahoshi was a little scared of the fight, however, she was concerned about the two's condition. "Will they be..." She began to back away from a wall that was starting to crack, though, she didn't realize it.

"Let's end this fight," Gin suggested panting heavily.

"Yes, I agree," Jimbei replied.

The two decided to throw one last punch at each other, however, the cracked wall that Shirahoshi was nearby began to fall apart which broke into large pieces of rumble.

"Aah!" Shirahoshi screamed as she saw the pieces of rumble falling towards her.

"Shirahoshi look out!" Fukaboshi, Manboshi, and Ryouboshi screamed in a panic.

Jimbei was horrified that the rumble fell towards the mermaid princess.

Gin saw the danger without thinking, he quickly dashed towards the princess and grabbed her in a flash.

The rumble collapsed on the ground where the princess was and as the dust cleared, she was no longer there.

"Shirahoshi!" Fukaboshi cried out looking around.

"You looking for her," There by the entrance to the plaza was Gin holding the princess in his arms, who was shaking but surprised that the hybrid saved her.

Gin suddenly knelt. "Damn...that took the last of my energy..." Shirahoshi was put down and she went over to her brothers. "Big brothers!"

"Shirahoshi, thank goodness," Fukaboshi sighed in relief hugging his sister.

"That was scary!" Ryouboshi sang sharing the feeling.

"Yeah, that was shaking!" Manboshi said dancing.

Jimbei walked over to the Wolf Mink Whale Shark Fishman. "Looks like our fight has come to a close,"

Gin hated to admit it, but, he knew the warlord was right. "I suppose, I surrender, I'll give you back the treasure and I'll turn myself in."

Shirahoshi turned around. "Gin..."

Jimbei handcuffed the hybrid and was about to escort him out, when, Shirahoshi surprisingly called out. "Wait, Jimbei!"

The Warlord stopped and glanced at the princess while her brothers did the same. "Please, don't put Gin in jail, he's a good guy, he saved me."

"Princess, he still committed a crime, he stole, he fought against the palace guards, and caused property damage to the plaza, regardless I did too, though, he still has to be taken into custody," Jimbei replied.

Shirahoshi felt helpless until her brother Fukaboshi decided to say something. "If I may sir, how about Gin works at the Fishman's newspaper office, they're looking for a reporter, so, if he works there, perhaps he can use the money he earns to pay for damages."

"I agree, also, we can inform our mother and father of this, they can probably give him a room at the Fishman's apartments," Manboshi added.

"Yeah and lastly, when the damages are paid in full. Gin can use whatever money he sees fit though he must use it to pay rent," Ryuboshi finished.

Shirahoshi was delighted that her brothers were supporting her idea.

Jimbei sighed for a moment. "Very well, I'll inform the queen and king of your idea."

Gin was surprised by this so he glanced at the three royal members. "Thank you...Fukaboshi, Manboshi, Ryouboshi, and Shirahoshi."

The four smiled brightly at their sister.

Queen Otohime found Gin a place to stay at the apartments where Camie lives and she helped the hybrid get the job at the newspaper office.

Present.

"After that, Gin became the report for Fishman Island's Newspaper office, he made a lot of stories, he was able to get some money from the queen, who felt sorry for him. Otohime even had Gin watch over Shirahoshi once and awhile, they became close friends..." Jimbei concluded.

Sanji was on his knees pounding the ground with his fist. "That wolf mink Fishman bastard, I can't believe he got to spend time with the princess!"

The others sweatdropped at the cook's sullen display. "What the moron," Gray muttered.

"What are Aquapad and his friends' stories?" Wendy asked.

"He and his friends grew up together, though they were still young children so they couldn't become pirates not just yet anyway, though, back when I was still on the island, I trained them once and awhile about combat. Fishertiger did so too back when he was alive and even before he went on his trip." Jimbe explained. "Anyway, back to my story..."

Back at the shore of Fishman Island.

Jimbei was having a chat with Aladine as they saw their crew members return home to their families.

"Aladine, now that I became a Warlord, the others can roam around without fear of being caught by the Celestial Dragons," Jimbei said.

His friend had other thoughts to share. "Jimbei, all this time we return home without fear of being hunted by the Celestial Dragons, however...the agony we endured by their cruelty is burned into our minds and binds our souls." He jumped onto the bridge and began to leave the ship. "To be clear, I understand what brother Ti was trying to embark on, however, we can't forget the horrible memories that we have."

Jimbei began to explain when the Celestial Dragon Mjosgard went to Fishman Island to reclaim his slaves.

"Mjosgard attempted to get his former slaves back...though, Otohime heard of this and wanted to meet the noble...however."

The famous noble was seriously injured and his helmet was broken. "Help me, you idiots!"

Bang Bang Bang

He shot out his pistol several times making the citizens frightened, though, some were hesitant to help.

Then the former Fishman slaves confronted him.

The one in the middle wearing a black jacket spoke to the noble. "Long time no see, Mjosgard..."

The noble took offense to that. "How dare you address me without my title!" He gasped quietly in realization and recognized them. "You are all my slaves...you return to me at once I never gave you permission to leave!"

He pointed at his pistol only for it to be kicked out of his hands the Fishman that spoke pointed his pistol at the noble then the others followed.

"Aah!" He shrieked in fear.

"Wait, don't do it you guys, your pardons won't a count for!" A citizen pleaded.

"You all dare point a gun at me, I'm your master and you will heel to me!" Asgard proclaimed.

"All you have to do is cry and the Admiral will come to your aid at the drop of a hat...however, you're on the sea floor and as long as the navy thinks you died in an accident, no one will find out not even the navy and the citizens will be quiet about it!"

The citizens realized what the former slaves were getting and they began to cheer.

"He's right!"

"Kill that noble bastard!"

"Yeah make him pay for what he did!"

Mjosgard wasn't understanding hostility. "What is going on, I'm a famous noble."

The Fishman pointed their guns and wanted to kill the noble, but, their hands were trembling with hesitation despite they were remembering the noble's cruelty and torture.

"Please don't do it!" The noble cried almost begging.

Otohime was almost there as the crowd continued to cheer for the former Fishmen slaves.

"You stupid fish!" Mjosgard barked out as tears fell from his eyes.

Bang Bang Bang

The guns were fired and to everyone's horror, Otohime shielded the noble, taking a shot to the arm.

"Oh no, they shot the queen!" A citizen pointed out in shock.

The Fishmen slaves looked in horror at what they did.

"Queen Otohime...I..." The Fishman wearing the black jacket began to say feeling somewhat guilty.

The queen glanced at the angry Fishmen slaves. "Please, lower your weapons, the children...are watching."

She was right, nearby were some Fishmen and Mer children witnessing the scene.

"You can't pass your hatred onto them, forget about revenge," She pleaded.

"But, he treated us like dirt!" One of the Fishman protested.

"Yeah, he deserves death!" A second Fishman agreed.

"I know your pain and suffering, but, don't pass that onto the kids, that'll mess up their entire future," The queen said standing up a bit.

Mjosgard saw his chance and snatched his gun while grabbing Otohime. "Got ya, now get me some help and I'll spare her life!"

The citizens couldn't believe this.

The three princes were concerned, this of course scared Shirahoshi as she began to cry in fear however her cries unleashed some sound waves.

Then something was emerging from the sea and a giant mouth gobbled up the noble's ship.

To everyone's shock including Vander Decken, there were the Sea Kings.

"THE SEA KINGS!" Everyone exclaimed in total shock.

This completely scared the noble that he fainted from shock with foam in his mouth.

The sea kings soon left and dove into the water.

Jimbei couldn't believe what he saw and he suspected Shirahoshi somehow called them.

Aladine approached the noble wanting to kill him, though, he knew he had to obey the queen's order. "I hate this monster, however, at your request, I'll heal him up and your arm too."

Several weeks later

Mjosgard eventually healed and was given a ship to return home. "Don't think this is over, I'll see to it that all of you will pay for your actions."

The palace guards were angered at the noble's cruel words. "Is this necessary for him to talk to us like that?"

"We healed him and this is how repays us?"

"Wait a minute!" Mjosgard turned to see Otohime looking at him. "It's evident that you have more to say so, I'll join your trip to the surface."

Hearing that made the noble disdain but he reluctantly agreed.

The citizens including the royal family were concerned about that.

"Mother you can't!"

Neptune approached. "Please, you can't take this task alone, allow me to take your place!"

Otohime shook her head. "It's fine, I know you're a great knight, but, this is a matter of appearance, one as powerless as me and a heart full of trust can go to the surface and return home safely."

The three princes were concerned, but, they knew that their mother has made her mind up.

Shirahoshi didn't want her mother to go. "Mother, please..."

Gin appeared and put his hand on the mermaid's shoulder. "This is her choice...let's just hope she'll be safe."

A week passes as the citizens and children continued to worry, however, they kept their faith.

The royal family was restless but kept the faith as much as they could.

One day, some Fishmen were hulling in fish nets, until they heard something coming from the ocean

The same ship that Otohime boarded has returned.

Everyone citizen and the royal family were to welcome her. All were in tears of joy and relief.

Otohime held a piece of paper that was sighed by the nobles and herself. She had everyone on the island gather at the Conchcorde Plaza.

"The Celestial Dragons are and this is an official letter from a world noble...which says...for the sake of improving the relationships between Fishmen and humans...I support the proposal of the attached petition...in other words if we gather enough signatures to submit at the next reverie...this piece of paper will grant our proposal the strength to be realistically put into action to relocate us to the surface!"

The citizens were almost happy, but, still, a little hesitant. "I know that piece of paper is official...but...I'm not so sure."

The queen got a crate. "As such all that we need now is to gather more signatures...I can only wait for all of you to make your decisions so I beg of you to reach out for a life of harmony..."

The silence was in the air and from the citizens for a moment though it felt like hours.

The queen almost gave up until she heard a few sheets of paper being put into the crate by three children. "Thank you...but don't get my hopes up if you're only going to change your mind."

"We won't, my mommy said she's going to sign too," A Fish girl child said with a giggle.

More petitions were poured in by the minute.

The Minister of the Right brought a large basket. "Queen Otohime, I thought this would happen, those that will support the queen, bring your petitions!"

Soon the entire crowd put their petitions with smiles on their faces.

Otohime was happy that she burst into tears of joy.

Neptune was happy for his lovable wife.

"This is a change, this will prove our relationships with humans. She did something that not even fighting could change, I wish Arlong could've seen that...I wonder what will he think of our future. Fishertiger I wish you were here to see this surely this would've made you happy," Past Jimbei said with a smile.

Otohime explained the power that Shirahoshi possesses and requested her sons to protect their sister which they agreed to.

Then one day later the plaza was still being gathered with more petitions.

Suddenly a fire was burning the papers.

Otohime attempted to save them and then out of nowhere she was shot in the heart. "The queen has been shot!"

"A sniper is lurking around here, find the crook now!" Jimbei ordered.

Vander Decken snuck into the plaza and touched the princess's arm. "Quite the ruckus...don't you think princess~?" He was chased off by the palace guards.

The three princes gathered around their mother including the mermaid princess.

"Mother, are you okay!?" Ryoboshi asked.

"We'll get you to a hospital!" Manboshi added in tears.

"Who is the one that shot you!?" Futoboshi asked angrily.

Otohime's eyes were growing dim like her wound was more severe and it was. "I let my guard down...I'm just so happy that my dream of gathering more signatures paid off..."

The medical team arrived, however, her wound was too severe. The queen looked at her children with a smile. "Listen to me carefully my children...no matter who is my shooter...don't give in to anger or hate on my behalf...also...my sons...keep Shirahoshio safe..."

Gin approached the queen. "Queen Otohime...thank you...for helping me find a place to live, I'll do anything on your behalf too."

"Thank you, Gin...if anything else happens in the future, help my sons protect Shirahoshi...for me and your future."

Futoboshi smiled sadly and angrily. "Mother, I will see to it that your wish will be granted...I'll continue gathering more signatures and we'll protect Shirahoshi...SO PLEASE DON'T WORRY!"

They each did a pinky swear.

At that second, Otohime dropped dead with a smile on her face.

"OTOHIME!"

Gin was howling in sadness.

Aquapad, Jula, Thorn, Angel, and Rena were there and in tears of sadness.

Then later that day Hordy Jones(former knight of Neptune's army). "I found the culprit!"

"It's him!" Jimbei rushed over to Hordy Jones and his shock, there was a dead human pirate. "Hide the body..."

The palace guards were stunned at that request. "Boss Jimbei?!"

"Think about Otohime's hard work, if this gets out, then islanders will be hurt and her majesty won't rest in peace," Past Jimbei said holding in his anger.

Past Hordy Jones disagreed and grabbed the human by his neck. "This is reality, he's a pirate and a human." He went to the edge of the cliff where the plaza was. "IT WAS A HUMAN THAT SHOT OUR QUEEN! THIS IS WHAT HUMANS ARE CAPABLE OF! KILLING IN COLD BLOOD!"

The Fishmen and the merfolk couldn't believe this.

The royal family and their subjects were angry and felt betrayed.

Eventually, days go by since Otohime's murder.

Neptune locked himself in his room feeling angry, but, couldn't bring himself to torture the human pirate that supposedly killed his beloved wife.

They held a funeral and everyone went to pay their respect though Shirahoshi wasn't able to due to Vander Decken's devil fruit.

Futoboshi announces to the citizens that he and his brothers will continue where their mother started and hope for a brighter future. "I hope in due time we'll find our salvation someday and our mother's dream will become reality someday!"

"YAAAYYY!" The citizens cheered.

Jimbei concludes the last of the history of the heroic Otohime. then the Straw hat Pirates decide on Jimbei's fate which leads to an argument with Fairy Tail. Meanwhile, Tartoros kidnaps a mermaid.

Also, there will be more to Gin's past, when that'll be, not sure yet, but, it'll be shown in one of the future chapters.
