9 Done and only 6 remains, by the end of the rewritten chapters the next world will begin. As you can tell there will sometimes be solo chapters to not only the Straw Hat crew, but alongside the committee members. This gives the characters chances to work together more often and know something new about each other.

Chapter 9: City of Apes - The Shipwright and Mechanic's Pride
Deep within Specter's Fortress, Franky and Cid are tied up in their cell where Specter's Freaky Shadow 10 member Marine Virtual. Taking some interest in the Straw Hats ship, Franky and Cid are captured for their own purpose. Currently Franky and Cid are tied up inside some cell with Monkeys on standby. Cid and Franky are back to back with Cid trying to untie Franky's bind. He would have done the same for Cid, but due to his size and overlarge hands, that would have been impossible.
"You almost done?" Franky asked what was the millionth time, but is actually almost 20 times by now.
"I almost got it, you just sit tight. I'll have this done in a jiffy." Cid said assuring Franky.
"Well hurry it up, who knows what they'll do to Sunny. That weird scientist is planning on experimenting Sunny, we have to recuse our ship." Franky said with some impatience.
"It's alright, if something happens to Sunny we'll get ourselves another ship." Cid then felt Franky slam his back head against Cid.
"What the heck was that for?" He yelled.
"For saying about the Sunny, I just build it not too long ago. The others will be devastated after losing Merry, I don't want to lose the Sunny to these chumps." Franky said with determination to beat these monkeys.
"You say it like the ship is alive, I know you have told us your adventures, but I also know you guys haven't told us your full story before meeting each other." Cid said being trying to figure out the ropes tied to his hands. Franky remained silent for some moment before speaking.
"Before I join their crew... I was an low down troublemaker at Water 7, but I did that because I knew the dangers in the world. I gathered what many can considered outcast from society and had them working together to become Franky Family. We not only dismantled ships from pirates, but also took part in bounty hunting them. For sometime I enjoyed my life with everyone in our family, but then the Straw Hats came. At first we weren't on good terms, have to admit what we did was pretty low, stealing their money and beating up their crew member, honestly I don't blame them for destroying our home.
At the same time, CP9 from the world Government used Robin for their assassination attempt blaming on pirates instead themselves. Worst someone from my past came back all cocky and arrogant as if he owned the world. Some point the Straw Hats, Shipwright and my friends all teamed up to get us back and take down CP9. I won't bore you with details, but I can say at the time Usopp had harder time then everyone else. Their ship Going Merry is badly damage from their sails in the Grandline. When I met Usopp, I kidnap him for revenge for hurting my friends. But when we talk I understood his pain, the Going Merry had been their home, their place to live out in seas for adventures.
Most Pirates would never have this care for their ships, then again neither do the marines. Usopp took this the hardest, since their ship came from Usopp's home village. After everything I made them the Thousand Sunny, even joined their crew because with Usopp's skills they wouldn't make it far. The Sunny is the heart and soul of our crew, if anything happens to the Thousand Sunny, I don't know how they will take it. Our ship may not be important to you, but it's important to us. After all you should proud for what you created, even if used for good or evil be proud what you create with your bare hands." Hearing Franky explained their situation makes sense, at the same time Cid gain a new perspective. They may not act like traditional pirates, but they have more heart and soul then most pirates would ever dreamed.
"You know, this makes it harder to dislike you guys, cause if more pirates acted like this... I say we would be friends with some." Cid said, Franky smiled since he too just recently joined the Straw Hats, right now they have to figure out how to escape. Cid kept trying to untied their bind, eventually Cid succeed finally manage to release them from their bind.
"Now stand back." Franky then change his arm into a cannon, aiming at the door of their cell.
Weapons Left
The Monkeys didn't realize what was happening, but then saw Franky pull out his arm like some gun and shot at their gate creating huge explosions. Cid took cover knowing this would be some big explosion. Once done the two then moved out, not before looking for their things since Cid needs his gear to fight. No doubt after hearing the explosions, the two will encounter some guards that are trying to recapture them.
Marine Virtual Laboratory
In his lab, he is studying the Straw Hats ship. Why is more so their little project they didn't tell Specter, in fact since the Straw Hats arrival this had interest in their ship. While their original plan would might have taken time, but with the Thousand Sunny as these pirates called it, then everything might work in their favor. At the moment tehri original plan still in play, they just have to let Specter take the fall for all this destruction and blamed for millions of deaths. Once that happens they will steal the schematic design for the pipo helmet and leave this world. For now they will have to wait and let things play out, if some of their comrades died then so be it. More will be created with their plan in mind.
"MARINE." Speaking of Specter, it seemed there suppose leader is becoming a hassle now. Not that he can blame him, these outsiders are now interfering with their plans.
"Yes Lord Specter." Inward he sometimes cringe at calling him that, the only reason they listen is because Crimson Ninja what's this plan to work, that and he's one of them not Specter.
"We have some problem, The so called prisoners have escape." Specter then showed the two are plowing down the monkeys and Heartless in their path. Marine sigh at this knowing this would be their problem as well if they don't control the situation. The only reason he needed them is because of the ship they obtain, because it's one of theirs it's more logical to have people that own their ship/weapons. Seeing them escape will complicate things, he needs them alive in case he wants more information.
"I will handle this, I just need them for details about their ship. If an old pirate ship from the past can fly in space from illogical reasons, we could use them to build more of these ships for our purpose. But I need them alive, send them towards my laboratory and I will deal with this annoyance." Marine told Specter.
"You better, cause if you fail I'll have your head for this, besides I have other things to attend." Specter sign out, Marine look at their security cameras to see where they are heading, then type some command to lead them towards his laboratory.
"Do not worry Specter, they won't escape." Marine said to Specter as the duo rushed towards his laboratory, Marine set up his two laser beams targeting at the entrance where the duo will fight on his battleground.
10 minutes later
It didn't take long for them to reach Marine's Laboratory, some of the Heartless and Monkeys gave them some hard time to navigate, eventually they reach his lab where Franky and Cid rushed in without caution, unaware of the beams blasting them. The two then stop as they obverse their surroundings, realizing they have been sent somewhere away from the Sunny Go.
"What the heck?" Cid said in confusion.
"Did we hit a wrong turn?" Franky asked taking his sunglass off for a moment.
On the contrary, your exactly where I want you two.
When some random voice spoke in thin air, a digital screen formed in front of Cid and Franky, meeting face to face with the one responsible for their new predicament.
Welcome gentlemen, to my digital world within Specter's secret base of operation.
My name is Marine Virtual, I'm the brains of the Freakish Shadow 10, and I will be your entertainer for today.
"Your a heartless aren't you?" Cid said unable to believe what he's saying at this moment.
Hmm, your not like the others.
Most would have denied this idea, but you are willing to considered this aren't you?
"Not hard to see, it's more so unbelievable that a heartless like you lot somehow gain intelligence. I have fought heartless before and you guys act differently yet are still heartless by instinct. The others may have a harder time accepting this fact, but I am first and foremost their mechanic, I have to see many thing average guys wouldn't." Cid stated.
Yes how true, I am a heartless and so are my 9 comrades.
Though I must admit, when gaining this new... thought process, I can see why heartless are considered animals in nature despite being dark creatures.
"I thought you said heartless aren't able to think? Did somebody figure out how to give them intelligence?" Franky asked curious about this idea of mindless creatures somehow gaining intellect.
"If I had to guess that would have been Specter's fault. When you guys capture us, you acted like what normal people would have behaved. You could have done a lot of good for people in this state, so why help Specter try taking over the world?" Cid couldn't help but show anger in this question, because of how many people have been turn to heartless, it was normal to treat heartless as some rabid beast needed to be put down. Yet now with some gaining intelligence, this made things personal to Cid almost furious that these creatures could think and act like people, yet chose to fulfill some dark desires in their souls.
It's simple really, I'm curious.
I don't know about you lot, but I find the life we have today is nothing more then boorish.
People going in and out, day by day acting like their lives have meaning or some purpose in some grand scheme.
But not me, nor my comrades for that matter.
You see, I'm curious about life mysterious.
Things like, why should we care for the trees being around.
Why do we need air for breathing.
How come he was elected president and so forth.
Simply put, I'm doing these awful things, because the normal life is nothing more then hinderance to my quest for answers.
With Specter tearing this world apart, we can restart our lives once more and rebuild a new empire under our heartless banner.
When Cid listen to his reasoning, he couldn't help but tighten his fist at listening to his words. Franky on the other hand watching and listening, to this thing's logic is upsetting to see someone using their smarts for dumb things. This felt like Spandam all over again, except now he is witness this on other worlds instead of traveling in the grandline from sometime ago.
"Hey, your suppose to be the brains of this operation right? Why are you keeping us alive anyway, wouldn't have been better to get rid of us." Franky wanted to confirm his suspicions about why they are alive, deep down this answer will piss him off once he hears this from their captor.
Obviously, I want your talents.
This ship the Sunny Go as you call it, I wan you to build many ships for transporting our kind to other worlds.
So that way, we can see the worlds with our own eyes.
With your talents and my brilliance, we will take these world by storm.
"And the ships? What will you do with them after you fulfill your goals?" Franky asked Marine who can be looking at Franky with question.
Why should that matter.
All creations by science are nothing more then useful tools for expanding our ideas.
Even people are expandable once we widen our minds to question beyond good and evil.
I may have been a heartless once, but even now I have been reborn once again.
Now I shall tear these worlds apart using all tools necessary, then find all the answers I can for every question that exist.
And your talents will be used for this very purpose, your roles are now set, your ideas belong only to me and Freakish Shadow 10.
What choice do you two have against powers beyond yourselves.
"You know what I say to that. When we escape from this SUPER weird place, I'm going to kick your arse and get our Sunny Go back. My dream is to sail our dream ship all around the Grandline, but now with space I want that dream to succeed what the Pirate King Gold Roger couldn't achieve before. But first I'm going to kick your butt and end your Dumb 10's plan." Franky said taking his boxing stance at the ready, Cid followed suit getting his Bo Staff prepared knowing their answer will lead to their battle.
How Disappointing, perhaps my Bug Blox can persuade the both of you.
Soon the entire area began to fill with Bug Blox, before Franky and Cid couldn't fight before because they were unprepared before hand, however now is a different story. Franky grin as he charge at these Bug Blox, first he went punching the first creature that planned on attacking him face to face by jumping from above. That only allowed Franky to grab his legs then spin around like some spin top bashing few Bug Blox left and right. Then threw that one away as the rest got angry at their buddy tossed aside like nothing.
Fresh Fire
Franky blew some fire at incoming Bug Blox that tried to charge him. Then used Strong Right Launching his right fist connected to some chain in his arm, Then Franky spin his chain hand like some flail called Strong Hitter Knocking them out one by one or five by five in this case. Cid manage to handle himself pretty well, while he has no magical skills to show off like his companions, he does know how to fight with or without magic since he not only a mechanic, but also to some degree an expert on hand to hand combat.
When tossing his Bo Staff up in the air, Cid then started to punch some of the Bug Blox's that got close. He made quick punches to the eye and other parts that daze the Bug Blox, after his 5th punch he grab his Bo Staff and started to strike them with his skills. Then he jump activating his limit break Boost Jump, and finished one of them. The two will have to pull all the stops if they plan to escape this digital prison.
Marine Laboratory
As Franky and Cid fought off the Bug Blox, Marine started to reexamined the Sunny Go. As he search the entire ship once more, something seemed to draw him close to this ship, but doesn't understand what he desires in this ship. When first scanning this ship, Marine couldn't help but be amazed by the craftmanship towards this ship. While some of these designs could have been left unneeded, Marine still stares at awe from what that Shipwright did for this ship. From the details of this ship, Marine can see there is many of his heart and soul put towards this ship. While a Heartless can detect one's heart and darkness, an intelligent heartless such as him can sense one's heart. Marine check every room and can sense Franky had built this with great heart and soul for their crew. But like his scientific mind, he see this as his tool. If Marine can convert Franky to their cause, his craft will be put to better use then these so called pirates.
"My you have built with your being into this ship. But I have no interest how your built, I'm more interest in your creation. Your just a meaningless ship meant for low life pirates of small goals and dreams. Once Franky and Cid are to work for me, they will build armada of war ships under our command, then I will have this world forced on their knees. While the Freakish Shadow 10 is supposed to be our unity, I only care for seeking answers through destruction. Only when the worlds are brought anew through darkness can the truth be revealed. And this army of heartless will bring this truth to all worlds, first I will tear you apart then sometime kill their so called pirate crew. Leaving only Franky and Cid to serve only me, soon my goal will be recognized." Marine then continued to search through the ship, once done he would activate the chainsaws and other deconstruction devices to tear the Sunny Go apart.
Virtual World
Franky and Cid had been fighting these bug blox for who knows how long, but soon they will exhaust themselves if they don't escape this place.
"Any ideas?" Cid asked taking another bug blox out, Franky is doing the same as he bashes another bug blox out.
"Nope, though I could us some cola, these things will keep on popping out if we don't do something." Franky said.
"Well if we don't make it out of this, if's nice getting to know good pirates such as yourself." Cid comment.
Franky grin replying, "Same here old timer." But before they are counted out, something unusual happen within the virtual world, the Bug Blox started to spaz out or freeze in place while glowing golden orbs started to appear around them.
Destroy the orbs to save your friends.
Franky heard this unsound voice in his head, but followed his guts telling him the voice is trying to help them.
"Yo old timer, we should destroy those orbs." Franky said then rushed past some of the bug blox just as they are released to attack once more. Cid followed his lead as they charge through these bug blox, once they manage to reach their first golden orb, Franky went on trying to destroy the first one. Once he did he moved on to the others as Cid followed his lead.
Marine Laboratory
Just as he finished his reexamination, Marine pushed some button on his wrist device.
"Now let's see what makes you tick." Just as one was about to cut the Sunny Go, it exploded into pieces. Shock by this Marine started to hear explosions around him realizing his laboratory is being destroyed.
"WHAT!" Marine ran up towards the control panel, typing in some command sequence to reveal the virtual world being taken down by Franky and Cid, who are destroying some golden orb.
"WHO HACK MY SYSTEMS!" Furious Marine activated manual control, unlocking some video game controller(PlayStation 1 controller), put on his virtual helmet on as he prepared to confront these two in his turf.
Virtual World
Franky and Cid work their way through many bug blox, they eventually destroyed many of the golden orbs to pieces. What they never realize is these orbs are connected to the system in Marine's laboratory. The two keep on fighting trying to end this battle, eventually the Bug Blox stop appearing as all of them are destroyed from the virtual world, now the only problem remains...
"How do we escape?" Cid asked out loud.
You don't
The two came face to face with Marine's virtual body appearing inside the VW, but is made of data instead of really being there.
I don't know how you manage to destroy my laboratory or somehow gain this power you hold, but you won't destroy what I had just built.
"Bring it, dumb 10." Franky and Cid jump out of his way as he launch his fist at them.
Beans Left
Franky shot his mini bullets at Marine, only to phase through him like he's some ghost. Cid tried to attack him from another direction, but resulted the same as he is pushed back away from Marine. Cid and Franky are at a lost since they have no way of fighting someone that is literally not physically here. But then the two started to glow in some golden light as they are somehow granted power in times of need. Once the two stop glowing, they felt nothing change in them.
It seems this time I have the advantage.
Whatever was messing with my systems cannot help this time.
Marine was about to strike when then by instinct fire their attacks. Franky used his Weapons Left shooting what appeared as some beam of light towards Marine, while Cid shot his Bo staff straight at Marine despite having no gun like weapon, the energy the two blasted was enough to force Marine back.
"Did that just happen?" Cid confusingly asked.
"Now's not the time for questions, just shoot him with everything." Franky told Cid, the two the rushed Marine since he is left on his back. Once close enough the two went on attacking him from both sides.
Cid charge up just as Marine in this digital form got right up using his digital world to enhance his abilities. Shooting lasers from the ground or above like some rain to try and separated the two, Cid manage to get up close as he charge in to swing his Bo Staff in some sword slash creating an energy like wave flying towards Marine. Franky had stuck to his other attack shooting rapid fire bullets in energy shots. The two were hoping to get up close to fight Marine hand to hand, but Marine kept his distance knowing the dangers of their combine strength. On the outside Marine furiously had some programs to run scans for this glitch. What he found ended up being nothing except for weird energy that came from nowhere.
Both Cid and Franky manage to get up and personal as Franky jump to punch Marine's head, following up Cid jump to swing some shots at Marine left and right. The two soon discovered that all their attacks had done nothing except fought someone that isn't being hurt by their attacks.
"No good, whatever this place is located, we're practically powerless against him." Franky concluded like Cid thought the same thing.
"Our only bet is if someone manage to find us and allowed our escape." Cid said.
Don't worry help will arrive
"That voice." Before Franky could question his sanity, Marine was about to strike when someone struck his digital form, what appeared is some data form of Casi.
YOU
"Hurry get out of here, I'll open a path for your escape, but I can't hold him back forever." Casi told the two as some golden doorway open for them two leave.
"What about you?" Franky asked worried for their mysterious ally.
"I'll be fine, just go before Marine takes control." Casi ordered in desperation.
No one is to escape
Casi started to glitch and scream in agony, taking this chance Franky and Cid ran for the doorway able to escape this world as Casi's remains are deleted from the system.
Marine Laboratory
"I should have deleted that brat while I had the chance, converting her into some virus had been waste of my resources." Marine turn to see the two had appeared outside the computer turning to face Marine.
"It's over Marine." Before they would confront him, monkeys and heartless entered the room. Both are forced to face their opponents, Marine took this moment to run towards the Sunny Go trying to escape.
"He's getting away!" Cid shouted, this had Franky bashing through the Heartless and Monkeys that tried to stop them. Marine had to summon some heartless to activate the doors and control the ship. Before he could make the Sunny Go launch into space, Franky and Cid charge at Marine knowing he's trying to escape with their only way out of space. Quickly as possible Franky and Cid jump onto the ship as it slowly moves towards the only exit from Marine's Laboratory. Once they manage to climb aboard the two quickly fought off whatever heartless controlled their ship, Marine stood on the sidelines watching them work. The Heartless appeared like some pirates, but more those related to thug like underlings. Franky punch them off or destroyed some of the heartless, Cid rushed to gain control of the steering wheel knowing someone has to control this ships launch.
As the two fought for their Sunny Go, Marine decide to join them as he wanted this ship to be located towards another part of Specter's base. Marine created what appeared like holograms of himself, Franky having no real energy left has to punch his way or die trying protecting the Sunny Go. But as he tried to fight them off, he started to lose some of his cola supply trying to fight Marine's copies.
"It seems you have lost some of your fighting spirit, perhaps next time you should have used something more efficient." Marine comment then punch Franky with his electrical gauntlet. Apparently Marine has the capability to reshape his own body and create some weird technology/gadgets into thin air using the darkness as his power. Once Cid finished off the heartless at the steering wheel, he realize this ship is being controlled by something else, no doubt is heading towards another part of this base. When he turned back Cid saw Franky is being beaten and outmatched, so he'll have to somehow help Franky somehow.
Cid then thought of what Franky use to supply himself, quickly he ran towards the kitchen avoiding the fight as Marine seems focus on Franky. Once he was done, Cid got in his hands are Green Tea, Lemon, Cool Aid, Milk, and Water. Considering he's in a rush Cid had to improvise on the fly, though is also worried for Franky since he didn't know how long he can keep up.
"Looks like you've lost your strength, I'll make this quick and end this battle." Just as Marine said this, Cid threw his Bo Staff at him knocking him back, but not out since his copies look towards Cid.
"Here, try this!" Cid remembered that Franky needed at least throw bottles, so he toss Green Tea towards Franky as he place them inside his stomach. Because the copies are digital replicas, they couldn't physically hurt them. But couldn't be hurt in returned, this made them more of an distraction for the real one to attack their opponents.
"Thanks." Once Franky place them in his stomach, "GROOVE!" He shouted, making Cid raised his eyebrow and Marine regaining consciousness. Franky hair turn to some elvis Presley reject.
"Thank you, thank you very much, now I want all the ladies and gentlemen to sing this next album, somebody get me some guitar cause I might leave this building." Franky started to sound weird, which cause Cid and Marine to look at him like he's crazy. Next moment Franky is punched by Marine out of simple random moment not feeling in the mood for this weirdness.
"The heck was that!" Franky shouted throwing his Bo Staff and Green tea towards Cid.
"Well honestly I didn't think it matter, but if these drinks change your attitude it's an improvement." Cid comment smiling at Franky.
"I told you I need cola, hurry get me cola." Franky shouted ducking under another strike from Marine who is taking advantage of this lower guard.
"I'm going to assume you have some problem with drinking, but that would have been some alcohol joke." Marine then tried to throw his punch, but miss forcing him back behind his holograms. Franky then tried some Lemon once, Cid distracted them long enough for him to recharge, "Peace Man!" Franky's hair turned to some peace symbol from two fingers.
"Yo man, why all this fighting we ought to shake hands and sing together kumbaya, damn it that's useless." Franky threw some bottles at Marine which effectively knock him back.
"Did you seriously throw some-" Unable to finish his sentence, Cid smack him upside the head for distraction.
"Okay, maybe I should have thought of this plan better." Cid admitted which is comment by Franky shouting, "Ya think! Where's my cola!"
"I don't know, but hurry up I can't fight him forever." Cid block another punch as Marine got up once more to try and fight Cid without too much distractions. Franky back in along with some of the supplies(In case of Sanji's fury). He found what he is looking for, some last remaining cola before restocking. Once he place them inside his stomach Franky felt recharged, this time with a shout "SUUUUPER!". Hearing this from inside the Sunny, Marine and Cid turn to see Franky is all back to normal ready to duke it out with Marine.
"Was that suppose to intimidate me? If this is some attempt of battle cry, I'm not impress." Marine said unimpressed by Franky's shout, what he didn't realize however is Franky is now at 100 percent strength, once he is fully recharged with three bottles of Cola. As Franky slowly walks up towards Marine, he guards himself with an boxing stance ready to dish out his new found strength.
"Cid, move back a moment." Franky warned, doing as he's told Franky slowly walk up towards Marine who prepares himself for what is assume weak punch.
Strong Right
With one punch, Marine didn't realize what just happen, only his last moment watching himself fly further then the Sunny Go current speed. Once he soar outside Sunny Go from the front, Marine couldn't defend himself as he crash into the ship, slowly withering away to dust as one glowing heart floats above.
"And that's how throw them overboard." Franky said relaxing a bit now the fight is over.
"We're not done yet, we still need to escape this base somehow." Cid reminded Franky, only to see him smile at this fact.
"I got a better idea, since this is Specter's hideout, why don't we crash their party." Franky suggested, catching on to this idea Cid smiled knowing they can take these guys down. For no one messes with a pirates ship or their crew.
If there is ever a way to describe how this story is handled, it be like how the Straw Hats first started in East Blue. Looking through this rewritten chapters, I can say that's probably how I have this set up, combine with Kingdom Hearts 1 storyline. For now most of the earlier world travels won't be too serious. mostly because of both enemies and how to have fun in their adventures. One Piece and Kingdom Hearts have that sense of adventure in them, which is what I like most out of all genres, the only problem with some is how it's forces to work with action. Finding the right balance is tricky and hard at times, but is worth the payoff once reaching certain goal.
