Chapter 51

Every once in a while, things go our way. Not just... as planned, but above and beyond our wildest expectations. Like the stars aligned and blessings poured down. Or, "Not even in our wildest dreams did I ever picture this happening," type of beyond expectations. But here she is. Arizona Robbins is marrying the love of her life tomorrow, and her life is so much more than she ever imagined or hoped for. Not only is she marrying the love of her life, but she is gaining a daughter as well.

It was only a few shorts weeks ago that they finally picked a wedding date. Realizing they didn't need anything fancy, that they really just needed their closest friends and family, they chose a day that would forever be etched into their minds. June 5th would become a day that the two women would celebrate for 51 years. Neither of them would know that now, but they would come to appreciate each and every year they would have together.

"Are you sure that you know what you are doing, Arizona? Are you...really ok with being a mother and settling down with one woman for the rest of your life? Are you ready to give up sex with all kinds of beautiful women, just to only have one woman for the rest of your life? Never allowed to even taste the lips of another woman?"

Arizona can't see her face, but she knows the woman on the other end of the line probably has a smile on her face, as she already knows the answers to each one of the questions she has asked. "Calliopeee," Arizona says as she draws her fiance's name out and starts giggling. "You know for a fact that after I have had the best sex of my life with you, I wouldn't even think about leaving you for just mediocre sex from someone else. You are it for me."

"I see, so you are keeping me around just for the good sex?"

"Well, I happen to love you too, but, the sex, well, it is that good," Arizona says, closing her eyes and smiling.

"I see. Well, at least love had a little to do with it," Callie says, laughing. "Just so you know, you are pretty good in that department too. You are actually the most talented lady lover I have ever been with."

"Funny Calliope, seeing as I'm the only lady lover you have ever had. You could have said I'm the most talented lover you have ever had. You only said, "lady lover." So, what is it Calliope... the best ever or just the best lady loving?"

"Hmm...," Callie says, pretending to think. "Well, I guess we could say the most talented lover ever."

"Wow. I have to say, you really know how to make this lady feel special," Arizona says, laughing.

"Well, I'm just trying to keep you on your toes Arizona. But, I will set the record straight. You, my soon-to-be-wife, are THE most talented and amazing lover I have ever had. and on top of that, I love you so much. Arizona, I hope you know there is not one other person I would rather be with for the rest of my life. I can't begin to tell you how much you mean to me and how much I love you. We have this amazing...chemistry, that is just, wow! When you put the love we feel for each other on top of that, it makes everything that was already out of this world, even more so. I hope that we never lose that, you know? I hope that chemistry is always there. And if it ever starts to wane, I hope to goodness we figure our crap out. I just can't imagine we will ever lose that though."

"Me neither, Calliope. Me neither. To be honest, I don't see how it could ever be an issue."

"Arizona?"

"Yeah?" Arizona asks, as she closes her eyes and rests her head back on her pillow in Teddy's spare bedroom. Since tomorrow is the wedding, they chose to do this the traditional way, and not see each other on the big day, until they are walking down the isle.

"I know that we have talked about it before, and it was something we said we could wait for. But, I really want us to expand our family. Soon. I just, I love you so much, and I love Katie, and I don't think there will ever be a perfect time to bring another child into this world, so if we keep waiting for that, it will never come. So... what do you think? About having a baby, now?"

"Calliope, I..."

"Wait. Never mind... I guess I should have thought that through a little more. We should wait. We should at least wait until after the wedding and we settle in a little more. Just, ignore what I said. We need to get Katie settled more first and wait until people aren't counting on their hands and feet how many months we waited after the wedding. They will think we fooled around first," Callie said, ending her rant with a nervous chuckle.

"You know, you really do have a point. We don't want anyone thinking we fooled around and I knocked you up," Arizona said, laughing.

"I know, see? We will just wait."

"Seriously though, you should have really let me finish my sentence, Calliope. I was going to say, I agree with you."

"What?" Calliope questioned, her voice almost a whisper.

"I said, I agree. I don't want to wait. I want to have another baby with you, as soon as you want. I can't wait to share that with you, Calliope. I love you so much and I want absolutely everything with you. I don't want to wait either."

"Wow. I, I really didn't think you would want to. I mean, not this soon anyway."

"Like I said, I want everything with you. As soon as our honeymoon is over, let's do it."

It was silent on the phone for a minute or so, when Arizona says, "Calliope…"

"Yeah?" Callie asks, and Arizona can hear that Callie is smiling. Her voice is usually just a little higher when she is smiling, and Arizona can hear it."

"I can't wait until tomorrow, or the next day, or the next day. I'm just so in love with you."

"I'm in love with you too," Callie says, closing her eyes as she tries to picture Arizona, laying on her pillow with her golden hair splayed across it. "You know, we sound like two lovestruck teenagers."

"I know. I would probably gag if I had to hear Teddy or Miranda talk like this to someone. It's very ok coming from us though," Arizona says, laughing.

Both grow silent, but the smiles never leave their faces. "I miss my girls," Arizona says, letting out a sigh.

"Your girls miss you. Katie kept looking for you tonight when I tucked her in. I told her she would see her momma tomorrow and that you love her."

"I should have had you call me so I could say goodnight to her. I'm not used to not being there to give her a goodnight kiss and to help tuck her in. Did you know, that is one of my favorite parts of my day? I love bedtime cuddles and reading her a book. I want her to love reading as much as I do, and I love seeing her eyes get big when I talk like the characters and make the sounds they do."

"I love watching you with her," Callie says, and Arizona can hear the smile that she knows is gracing her face. "I love that you love her as much as I do. She is one lucky little girl. I can't wait until the court calls us with a date to make everything official and for her to be legally yours. It should be anytime now."

"I hope, Calliope. I just... I can't wait. But, she isn't the lucky one, I am. I'm forever the lucky one, Calliope. I can't wait to be her momma," Arizona says, wiping the tear the is sliding down her cheek. "Well, you should probably get off the phone and get some sleep. I think we have one of the best days of our lives ahead of us tomorrow."

"I think you are correct. I love you Arizona, and I can't wait to be your wife."

"I love you too, Calliope. I can't wait to be yours either."

"Ok, I guess I will see you tomorrow. I'll even dress up for you!" Callie laughs at her own joke, pulling her cover up over her arms and settle into her pillow.

"I can't wait. I know you will be the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on."

"I think I can say the same thing," Callie says.

All of a sudden, Callie hears a yell and then some muffled noises. "Arizona, what..."

"Callie, I can't take anymore of this mushiness. Arizona needs her sleep and so do you," Teddy says, laughing and rolling her eyes, and Callie can hear Arizona trying to get the phone back.

"Arizona, say goodbye," Teddy says, holding the phone out where Arizona can barely yell and be heard, then Callie is able to utter a quick bye back, when Teddy says, "Ok. We will see you tomorrow. I will personally guarantee she will be there on time. Bye, Callie."

Before Callie can respond, Teddy has hangs up.

"Teddy!"

"What? You are marrying her tomorrow, you'll be fine," Teddy says, waving her had and walking out of the room with Arizona's phone. "Get some sleep! Big day tomorrow. You can have this back in the morning!" Teddy shuts the door behind her leaving Arizona sitting with her arms up, trying to stop Teddy.

Arizona sighs, then snuggles back down into her pillow. "Tomorrow I marry the love of my life."
