"Step right up everyone!" An announcer called. "Enter the Tunnel of Love!"
I grinned at Darren. "Told you!"
"This is the Tunnel of Destiny!" The announcer cried. What was with those red galoshes? They were so garish! And why was he caressing that heart shaped watch! He hadn't been the announcer a second ago I know it!
This was intriguing. I tossed my trash and went into the tunnel.
It was dark and I was nervous being so close to Darren. There was a quick flash of light and my lips were on his. When the flash ended, we broke free.
"D-Darren?" I whispered, but couldn't be heard over the cheesy music. "W-What was…"
His hand touched mine and held it.
I was shocked, but his hand was warm and soft.
My breath hitched.
As the carriage moved into the sunlight, I finally caught a glimpse of Darren.
He was older, war torn. He was wearing a long red coat, and he stared at me like he hadn't seen me in years. He was a man now, so he hadn't!
I gasped, my senses catching up with my brain. He was a vampire! My hand jerked away from his.
"Not what you expected, eh?" Darren laughed sheepishly.
"What are you…a vampire?" I asked breathlessly.
Darren paled. "I…how did you know?"
A small smile played on my lips. I looked down at my uniform, specifically at the symbol sewn into the bodice. "I am a priestess…and an agent of the Lotis."
