Darren ran a finger down my cheek. "It's been so long. You've changed. I'm so sorry."

I settled down in his tent. "Why are you apologizing, Darren?"

"This war is my fault." Darren confessed. "I never wanted this life for you. I wanted…I just wanted…you to be happy." He sighed.

I laughed. "I was happy…and then I met you."

Darren looked shocked.

I laughed again. "You are the precious person I must protect." I said simply.

Darren looked away, blushing. "There's no need for that."

"Why?" I asked shyly. "You think I'll get hurt?"

Silence.

"I don't die so easily."

Silence.

I stood and squared my weapon.

"Allow me to prove it to you!"
