Grams was a young woman. Her name was Kaori Watanabe. She was a practiced and trained priestess. She trained with several other women at a compound.
One day, the Campbell's, a clan of wisdom and learning, came to the shrine. They were known keepers of knowledge, and of a power, a secret power; known only as the Lotis.
Grams was just a young acolyte, but her sensei had charged her with the mission to learn the Lotis from a member of the Campbell clan.
For this reason, they were invited a lot, and eventually it happened. Grams fell in love with their son.
She loved Henry dearly, and when they were married, he chose to forsake his clan. Instead he took the name of his mother, Hikawa, and gave it to his wife. They became members of the Hikawa clan, guardians of words.
However, Henry DID teach her Lotis. Grams was pregnant with my mother, and many monsters were converging, so Henry taught her the secret.
On Atsuko, my mother's, fourth birthday, Grams invited her best friend, Amieretta, to the house. They were very close. But Grams did not know that Amieretta was an assassin, sent to kill them.
But Henry discovered the truth. Protecting my mother, he was murdered. When Grams discovered this, she flew into a rage. She destroyed Amieretta, but that was not enough!
She became a fearsome warrior, and years later, Cross found her, and taught her to hone her Lotis powers against the Akuma and Noah.
And so she formed the only fortress in Japan. The only place humans could go. This place.
