I don't own any of this Loud House belongs to Nickelodeon.
Ronnie Anne looked at the skyscrapers which had holes in them, as well as the burn marks that could be seen from the windows. Ronnie Anne then looked back at the community center that her family are currently staying in. It wasn't much considering some of the roof had collapsed, however it was better than staying out in the streets.
The heat has finally gone down some days ago much to her relief, and much of the fires had burned themselves out. But despite it being in the middle of the noon, the city is dark and with no lights on, it felt like you were in the middle of nowhere or a country field.
Ronnie Anne moves down to the front step, where she sat down while continuing to look at the buildings. Ronnie Anne then began to think of her grandpa, she wondered what he would've been doing right now if he was still with them.
She misses him greatly for he had always been there for her, like this one time back when her parents were still together, back when they lived in Royal Woods and their grandparents came to visit.
Six year old Ronnie Anne impatiently looked out the window, the little girl perked up each time a car came, only to feel instant disappointment when the said cars drove past her house.
"When are they coming?" She cried.
"They'll be here soon Ronalda." Her mother called out from the kitchen. Little Ronnie Anne did not like that answer however for she was not known to be patient. Soon just seemed to take too long for her, especially for today since her grandma and grandpa were coming to visit.
She hasn't seen them since Christmas, when she, her brother, dad, and mom went to the city to be with them inside their apartment. Ronnie Anne remembered how her grandma fed them a big feast, her uncle Carlos telling boring science facts, aunt Frida taking pictures every two seconds, and her older cousin Carlota trying to get her to wear a frilly dress that Ronnie Anne had to avoid.
After a whole year, Ronnie Anne just couldn't wait to see her grandparents again. She really couldn't wait to show them her first ever skateboard that she recently gotten, she already mastered some cool tricks that will surely wow them.
The bodega van soon pulls into the driveway, Ronnie Anne beamed in joy once she saw them emerge out of the vehicle. She jumped away from the window, and ran towards the door. "They're here!"
The door opens revealing Rosa and Hector who immediately came in and hugged Ronnie Anne. "Hello niƱo! Look how much you've grown!" Rosa exclaimed as she pinched Ronnie Anne's cheeks. Rosa turns her attention to her granddaughter's stomach. "Look at you. Your all skin and bones. Don't worry I'll make you a great meal."
The rest of the family soon arrived, Bobby smiled brightly upon seeing his grandparents. "Hi grandma, hi grandpa."
Hector heads over to his grandson where he affectionately rubbed the 11-year-olds head. "Hola Bobby, I see you grown as well."
"I sure have, I've grown a inch last week." The young boy announced proudly.
"Pretty soon, your going to be a tall, busy man." Hector stated.
"You think so grandpa?" Bobby asked for he could hardly imagine himself of being a busy guy.
"I know so." Hector reassured.
"Wow"
"Speaking of manhood." Hector gets closer to him and playfully nudged his arm with his shoulder. "You got your eyes on a senorita yet?"
"Dad" Maria chimed in.
Hector shrugs in innocence. "What? I'm just saying. I mean he should be thinking about girls soon."
"I'm sure he'll tell you when he's ready." Arturo said, he suddenly revives a death glare from Hector. "What do you know?" He snarked causing Arturo to look away for he knew that his father-in-law didn't exactly like him.
No one noticed Bobby looking to the floor as he struggled to keep in a blush. Bobby did have his sights on a girl, she was part of the Loud family; a fairly large family that lives somewhere on Franklin Ave.
To Bobby she is the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, but he was just too nervous to even talk to her, he couldn't even get close to her without becoming a nervous wreck. Bobby just hoped that one day he and she will become a couple, but until that day came, he wanted to keep his crush a secret from his family, for he knew how crazy they could get.
Thankfully before anyone can noticed him, grandma Rosa announced that she was going to start making a meal for her grandchildren. She heads for the kitchen to start making one of her famous meals, Hector meanwhile, after shoving Arturo away from his daughter, began to talk about the latest gossip going around the city.
Ronnie Anne walks over to her grandpa, she was going to show him one of her skateboarding tricks.
A burning sensation suddenly brought Ronnie Anne out of that memory. She winces from the sudden burning on her hand, Ronnie Anne looked to it to see a drop of water on top of her hand where it leaked down to the bottom of her thumb.
She wondered how this drop of water is burning her hand. Around her rain drops began to drizzle all around her, some landed on her clothes, head, or any exposed skin which also began to burn.
Grunting from the burns Ronnie Anne gets to her feet and ran for the community center, covering her head from the rain that burned her skin. Ronnie Anne just about made it before a downpour of acid rain came down.
Standing behind the doors she just closed, Ronnie Anne looked out and watched the downpour for just a bit. She then looked to her hands that had fresh, red burn marks.
Searing pain met her with each slight movement she took, the pain was bad enough to nearly make her cuss out loud. She would have to see her mom about this, hopefully she has something that would treat these burns.
Ronnie Anne walked away from the doors, gently holding her hands that hurt like hell as she walked through the lobby. She came into the main room where her family along with other people had settled in, many had moved to take shelter from the acid rain that came down from the missing sections of the roof.
Ronnie Anne scans the area for her mom, she didn't see her but she did see CJ pretending to save a stuff cat from a fire in front of a little girl who watched in entertainment.
Ronnie Anne approaches just as CJ placed the cat in front of the girl. "Super CJ has saved the kitty." The little girl gave him a cheer.
"Hey CJ."
CJ turns to Ronnie Anne with a bright smile. "Hi Ronnie Anne, meet my new friend Chloe." The little girl looked up at Ronnie Anne, then quickly looked away in shyness.
Ronnie Anne gives her a small wave, then turned to fully address CJ. "Have you seen my mom?" CJ nods in glee and points to his right. "I saw aunt Maria over there."
Ronnie Anne walked passed CJ, "Thanks CJ." Ronnie Anne took a couple of steps away from her cousin, before turning her head back to see CJ pretending to save Chloe's cat from another danger.
It honestly warmed her heart that despite everything that has happened, CJ is still optimistic. He basically had been pretending to be super CJ ever since they got to the community center, entertaining the smaller children who desperately needed someone to make them smile after suffering from this disaster.
Ronnie Anne moves on, passing by other people who stood or sat around chattering to themselves or are completely silent from the trauma they suffered on the day of the impact.
Thinking of the people who suffered trauma made Ronnie Anne think of her aunt Frida who unfortunately has also suffered severe trauma. She has kept up a smile to her family, but Ronnie Anne had noticed that when no one is looking she would go into a frighten expression, and at night she would awake in a screaming fit.
Carlos remain by his wife's side, comforting her in her time of need. Frida is really grateful for her husband doing things as she really needed someone, but the trauma she had received is still going strong within in, and no matter what her husband did to comfort her. Frida just couldn't shake off this awful emotion inside of her.
Ronnie Anne felt really bad for her aunt, and really hoped that she would feel better to the point where she goes back to her old self.
Thinking of her aunt now made her think of her three other cousins. Carlota after loosing everything she own is trying to make her own make-up in order to keep her sanity in check, Carlitos being a baby struggled to comprehend on what happened to his family and the rest of his world, and Carl, well he slowly began to return to his old self and became a unexpected leader to a group of seven year old kids.
Ronnie Anne didn't see any of them though as she walked through the crowd of people, but she did see a teenage boy in a Jurassic Park shirt leaning against the wall with a skateboard tucked under his arm.
Seeing the guy with the skateboard, triggered the memory that the acid rain had so painfully interrupted.
After finishing up the large meal that their grandma made, Ronnie Anne along with the rest of the family went to the living room to let their bellies settle from the amount of food they consumed.
As they sat around the living room they began to catch-up on recent events: Hector talked about the Bodega's latest business adventure, Rosa meanwhile tells them on how Carl took his first steps, and how Frida had cried her eyes out while taking pictures of her young son's achievement.
Maria talked about the latest goings-on in Royal Woods; Scoots got caught in a police chase as she sped down the highway, the Mcbrides did a open bake sale three weeks ago, and that Flip had just opened up a brand new Food and Fuel.
Arturo explained how his boss was looking for anyone to send to Puerto Rico for medical help. After he talked Hector made a passing comment on how he should stay there.
While the adults talk Ronnie Anne sat on the floor, impatiently waiting for the adults to finish talking, which she knew was futile as adults took forever to finish talking on just one conversation. She just wanted to show her trick, but she was afraid that she wouldn't be able to with how much they were talking.
Eventually after a long hour of taking to the point of where Ronnie Anne laid on her belly, resting her chin on her hands, and kicking her legs around. Hector got up from the couch to use the bathroom, Ronnie Anne immediately rose her head up as this was finally her chance to show at least one of her grandparents her trick.
She races into her room where she picked up her skateboard and gear. She then got in front of her grandpa who just got out of the bathroom, stopping him from rejoining the rest of her family in the living room.
"Grandpa, you wanna see this cool trick I just learned?" She asked him with a bright smile. Hector places his hand on the back of his head. "Oh jeez, I would love to mia, but I kinda need to get back to the conversation we were having."
Ronnie Anne gives her grandpa a puppy eye look, complete with a quivering lip. "Please."
Hector couldn't resist his granddaughter's puppy eye look and quickly gave in, for how could he say no to his cute granddaughter.
Hector allows her to lead him to the driveway where she motion him to stand in front of the garage. She then goes in front of him where she got on her skateboard, where after making sure that her grandpa is watching her, she gets ready then did a jump flip, after the flip she spreads her arm up in a Ta-da gesture.
Hector clapped for her. "That was great mia. You keep doing that, you'll become one of those professional skateboarders."
"You think so?"
Hector thought about his son on how he used to be a good skater, until he settled down with Frida. Hector could definitely see that potential in Ronnie Anne. "I sure do, and let me tell you this. I can see you becoming one of the greatest skateboarders in history."
Feeling happiness surge through her, Ronnie Anne runs to him and embraced him tightly, Hector returns the embrace with a warm smile plastered on his face. The two stayed in their embrace for they don't know how long, but wished that it didn't end.
Wiping away a fresh tear from her eyes, Ronnie Anne turned away from the teenager with the skateboard, and continued on her search for her mother.
That memory of her grandpa, now made Ronnie Anne think of her poor grandma. Rosa had been doing her best to be a great leader to her family and so far she's been doing great, but everyone could tell that the stress of being a newfound leader along with the unexpected passing of Hector was making her stress levels go high.
The family were worried for her, for they knew that this wasn't good for her health. They tried to approach her about this, they really tried, but whenever they bring up the subject Rosa would just immediately change the subject entirely.
They would have sit her in a intervention, they couldn't let her continue on like this. However the question is when they should do it? They had a lot to do from finding food, water, and generators to turn back on the electricity of the community center.
Whenever they were going to do the intervention, they would have to do it sometime soon.
Ronnie Anne exited the main room and into one of the hallways where the sound of the acid rain could be heard a lot louder as it poured on the roof.
Ronnie Anne scanned the hallway for her mother as she was told that her mom had came into here. "Where are you mom?" She muttered to herself, looking down to her hands she sees that they were red, and they still hurt whenever she moved them.
She walks down the hallway, all the way to a open doorway to the women's bathroom. She checked the restroom to see if her mom was in here, but she wasn't.
Ronnie Anne left the restroom, where she then continued onwards until she reached the end of the hallway. The only thing that was there is a closed closet door. Her mother just had to be in here, she just got to be.
Using her shoulder, Ronnie Anne banged on the door, a few minutes later the door opened and her mother came out. "Oh Ronalda, what can I do for you?"
"Do you have any thing for this mom?" Ronnie Anne shows her mom her burning red hands. Her mother upon seeing them immediately got concern, she gets down on her knees to get a closer look of them, while being careful on not touching them.
"What happen Ronalda?" Maria asked in worry.
"I got caught in the rain." Ronnie Anne simply replied.
Maria inspects her hands for any permanent damaged that the burns may have caused. "Well Ronalda luckily for you, these burns don't look like they would leave permanent damage."
"That's good." Ronnie Anne stated in relief. "Do you have anything to soothe it?"
"I have just the thing." Maria stood up and goes back into the closet, looking in Ronnie Anne could see that her mother had converted the closest into some sort of medical office.
It wasn't much as there were only a few plastic containers that were lined up against the wall. The containers held whatever medical supplies that Maria had with her, which wasn't really many as basically everything was from Maria's first aid kit.
Maria eventually found what she was looking for, which was a bottle of antibiotic cream. Satisfied she goes back to her daughter, she kneeled back down while opening up the bottle of cream. "Okay I'm going to gently rub this on you. It may hurt, but this cream will help with your burns."
Maria applied the cream to her daughter's hand, she could see how her daughter visibility flinched from the touch, her daughter held firm though as she let her mother rub the cream on her hands.
After a much long, firm rub, Maria got back up to her full height as she closed the bottle, she smiled in satisfaction as she looked at the cream settling on her daughter's hands. "Alright, now all you need to do is keep that cream on you, then after a while your hands should feel better, though the burn marks you received may still remain on your hands for a couple days until they eventually fade away."
"Thanks mom."
Maria affectionately rubbed her daughter's hair. "Your welcome Ronalda."
Ronnie Anne now glances to the makeshift medical office that her mother had set up. "So what's with the set-up mom?"
"Oh well, I figured that since we're most likely going to be staying here for the time being, as well as the amount of injured people I already took care. I figured that I might as well set-up a medical office." Maria explained.
"That's cool." Ronnie Anne pointed out.
"Yes, it's just too bad I don't have enough medical supplies to last the rest of the week." Maria exclaimed sadly.
"Maybe you can get more at the hospital." Ronnie Anne suggested.
"I wish I could, but the hospital is on the other side of the city, plus I don't know if its been already clean out. Besides I don't want to be wandering through the city during this time."
Ronnie Anne could definitely see where her mother is getting at. The current state of the city under post-impact is very unknown; there were no doubt hazards such as parts of buildings threatening to fall on top of someone, sinkholes that appeared formed by the cave-ins in the subways and sewers, and of course the acid rain that's still pouring outside.
That wasn't the only concerns though. In this time of despair what would other people outside their group act like? That was the most worrying thing, it is unknown how many would be hostile towards them. It was already worrying enough when you have to look over shoulders when you went outside to get stuff, or keeping one eye open so that no one would kill you in your sleep.
However that did beg the question of what they were going to do for not just medical, but other essential supplies. So far this area they were currently staying in still had cans of food and bottles of water, but they knew that it was limited and they would have to expand out eventually.
"What are you going to do mom?"
"I don't know Ronalda, but I'll figure out something. Anyhow what's Bobby been up to?"
Ronnie Anne shrugged. "I don't know. Last time I saw him was this morning."
Maria sighed in worry. "I hope he's doing alright. I fear he could be suffering from survivors guilt."
Ronnie Anne however waved it off. "I'm sure he's fine."
Maria wasn't so sure though, Bobby was showing the clear signs of survivors guilt from the talks of how he should've done something to why couldn't it had been him.
While Maria rightfully worried about her son, she had no idea that something worse is spreading deep through her daughter. Ronnie Anne herself didn't even know the feeling inside her, as her mind is busy at the moment.
From within her, the toxic feeling of vengeance stayed as strong and hot as a rampaging godzilla. Ronnie Anne had no idea if the men who killed her grandpa were even still alive, frankly she hoped that they suffered very slowly as they died. If they were however still alive, she would bring them to justice, no matter the cost.
This feeling however was currently in the back of her mind, but like a seed it will sprout and grow. Ronnie Anne doesn't know it yet as she began to head back to the main room, but she was soon going to go down a path that's hard to get out of, even for the most toughest people.
